A really sinister aspect into how people view children and parents is the idea of children being a replaceable commodity.

I've seen this in the way people talk about parents who have lost children but have surviving children... "Oh, at least you have other children," as though a child is just an interchangeable tool, a machine that dispenses what you want from it without it being sentient, whole, and feeling. The fact that people say that in order to comfort somebody shows, to me, how deep this mindset is engraved in people's brains: children are interchangeable items, and they do not fundamentally matter.

I'd like to think Mehmed is thinking the same with regards to her, in this scene.

He gave her the sword. He controls his temper around her. She stabbed him and his response was to admire and kiss her. He promised to not hurt her friends. He kissed her in this scene because otherwise he would probably tell her everything, which he supposedly can't do yet. He's far from perfect but she is his one "weakness".

Lale was undoubtedly under his power in an unbalanced/dangerous way‚ but he is absolutely under her power as well‚ especially now, and I think he's known it for a long long time.

hi sorry still thinking about the awakening trio in birthright and i know people talked about this all the time way back in fates popularity peak but like idk im still thinking about the fact that theres a timeline where owain and severa go back home, having been sent to new world only to be on the wrong side of the conflict for their goal so they didnt even achieve anything meaningful, watched their new friends die in front of them, and had to return home without their literal closest childhood friend of all time because he died on foreign soil without anyone else even knowing his true name. what the fuck man. and then they have to go home, tell all their friends and his parents that hes never coming back. like sure ylisse is at peace but at this point they never will be.

I think the most painful thing for me is how much Louis just…didn’t want Lestat to suffer, even after everything he’d done to him and Claudia. Some may think that makes Louis a fool, but I just think it’s his humanity shining through as it always does. Lestat is his love, and even though he knows there’s a righteous element to Claudia’s plan, and they both deserve their justice, and Lestat must be stopped, none of that can change how Louis feels about him. It’s just such a juxtaposition to Claudia writing Lestat’s last words in his blood. She’s rightfully revelling in his downfall, in his humiliation, as Lestat himself would have done. Louis can’t find joy in it, even if he knows it will lead to his freedom. Lestat may have been a monster, but Louis recognizes the monstrousness in this act, the monstrousness in himself, and none of that is stronger than his love. Right or wrong, he can’t change it.
