antichrist superstar is good because it articulates with far more grandiosity and almost like, fairytale escapism exactly what is being expressed on TDS but manson is so much more direct about it. this isn’t a dig on trent it’s just a differentiation of talents. the album itself is designed to be circular; it starts with a statement of lashing out, of vicious external destruction, and ends on this incredibly sobering note of the consequences of externalizing your pain; you become the man that they fear. you’re even more alone than when you started. irresponsible hate anthem and the beautiful people externalize pain, sink into self destruction and repression, build again to the externalization, then collapse inward once more as the cycle repeated. you cannot escape but the price for escaping is losing everyone you ever even slightly cared about. but all of this, instead of being incredibly blunt and literal, is so poetically and metaphorically expressed that it’s almost like a teenage diary. it was literally designed to be a fairytale device for its author and it does just that for the listener: to mute the pain and bleakness of reality it becomes fantasy. i could talk abt it forever

This is the second time Slipknot has removed the drummer and guess what they have never been the same since Joey jordison's passing and Slipknot died with Joey. They are not the same band as they were. V-Man even said they're not releasing any more albums, just singles because "it's hard to get 9 guys with families and stuff going on in the same room together and record an album."

It sucks, they were a ground breaking band at the start but when I heard the later stuff, Nine Inch Nails inspired stuff and even a stolen riff from Marilyn Manson's Irresponsible Hate Anthem, I realized they gave up, so I gave up on them as well. I'll remember Slipknot as Joey's band and how they were once a great band and not the aging circus they've become. As they wrinkle beneath their masks and come up with lighter and lighter music, straying away from their core sound and making bad decisions like this one, I'll be not listening. Goodbye. If there is was flicker of the original band left, it's now extinguished by a drummer who won awards and came from a legendary drummer himself who seemed to love being in the band, and had to endure the "still not Joey" remarks by everyone as he carried on filling in for his greatness only to be kicked out of a band that appears to not give a sh!t about both music and their fans.
