apropos of absolutely nothing. i am not a witchy person i am never really going to be. but. but. if crystals are "magic" or give "good vibes" or whatever it's because they're Of The Earth. you know what's better than getting some cheap quartz at a boho store. finding a really fucking cool rock. or a stick. i think if physical items have the sort of power people believe they do then it would come from literally anything that nature makes and you have to love that thing at least a little bit. anyway don't steal from parks and don't put rocks up your vagina.

August: Day 5
Adventures
Went to the library because Thief Liar Lady came in. Checked out the Cranford collection because maybe this time I'll actually read Mr. Harrison's Confessions
Went to a garage sale and bought holiday items for the church bazaar (some of which I may be tempted to keep for myself)
Got a Chick-Fil-A salad and peach shake
Did lots of gardening
Writing
Finished writing an outline of the story scenes. Noticed that the last half of the story needs an internal arc to give the events of the story meaning.
Found a story structure outline for romance and used it to outline the character arcs for both romantic leads
Identified the themes of the story and outlined thoughts about how the point-of-view character fits into this theme and furthers the character arcs of both romantic leads
Outlined the point-of-view character's relationship with four plot-important characters and listed the scenes necessary to each thread
Figured out that one of the other characters is a foil to the point-of-view character and considered ways this deepens the themes and character arcs

while i do take my shoes off when i go inside my house and don’t allow shoes in my bedroom at all, i can’t pretend to care about it that much when i have cats wandering around my house with kitty litter paws. like yeah, sure, i guess my shoes which might have mud on it are gross but also my cat uses her paws to bury literal shit and then walks on every surface she can.
it’s already over my floor is gross. my couch, my fucking bed is gross. no escape.

who of the three looks best splattered in mud and grime (and potentially blood)?
Toss up between the big ones. Their energies are so different.
You'd not catch plum messy without it being one of the other two's fault. I wanted to draw her in a state but nothing sat right. she's too fancy.
Grease or Blood? wonders whats the prefrence.
Sometimes I laugh that those two get on so well, opposites attract, or so they say.

revenge of the island where everything’s the same except scott chooses to vote out zoey instead of mike to gain the upper hand or smth
the catch is that previously-dormant-since-leaving-juvie mal ends up fronting after, similar to how zoey invoked commando zoey, bc he’s the Protector of the system--or maybe he and mike end up co-hosting??? and it turns into a push-pull thing between them and scott bc mike and scott are already dealing with their issues; meanwhile mal’s as morally gray as the next person and although he’s royally ticked off at scott for messing with mike and threatening the system, he also can’t help but be impressed at how utterly slippery scott is--and ofc tries to exploit that slipperiness and use it against scott. while scott’s sorta confused bc ‘okay this guy isn’t svetlana or chester or manitoba or vito, so who is he??’ but also he’s like ‘wow a worthy opponent?? hell yeah!’ and there’s def some underlying tension reaching its peak that gets cut off when scott gets eliminated following canon events (so mike gets eliminated like zoey was btw) bc duh they’re both trying to beat each other for (mostly) different reasons and with questionable morales within a show where everyone’s pitted against each other, ofc there’s gonna be a tension plus mal kinda doesn’t like scott for what he did lmao (v understandable and valid)
and then they meet again in all-stars and that tension rekindles...among other things :)
somewhere along the way (maybe in a snippet of a scene before scott’s elimination or during all-stars or in the span of time between their eliminations and roti’s finale) scott does the equivalent of apologizing for threatening the system, mainly bc mal would have thrown him without ado straight into fang’s jaws if he didn’t own up to it, but also after being in mal’s (and mike’s) presence for as long as he was, scott genuinely starts to feel bad--not for kicking out all those ppl prior, including zoey, but of how he went abt hurting mike and the rest of the system--mal was just that push he needed to own up to his misdeed. anyway after that, mal doesn’t want to forgive or see scott in a more ‘positive’ light after that happens, but this time mike, the more forgiving one out of them all, is the one being the push to get the alters to try to forgive scott, and after that, as they say, it’s history :D
no but, the urge to write this as a oneshot-type fic set during revenge of the island that acts as a “prologue” for the next multichaptered fic set during all-stars-
it’d give an excuse to portray scott as the villain he deserves to be in all-stars while also warring with his emotions bc I can bet that homeboy has never had a crush, fell in love, or dated anyone before. (plus hopefully I can write mike’s system (namely mal) in a better way than fresh did, and I can touch upon his past--like how he ended up in juvie--and his relations with other characters, like duncan and zoey and cam.)
swear I’ll elaborate more on this when I don’t have a project due within a day and when I’m not in a motivation slump lmfao

Complaning about the mortal instruments is still so fun bc it has such real conflict hidden underneath the layer of badly written fanfic-turned-YA. Theres so much there. But its always glossed over or other fans just talking about how its problematic. Yes it is but it couldve been such real commentary about cults and militatism and incest and abuse and homophobia and xenophobia and racism and sexism and anti-semitism and (christian) supremacy with an absolute asshole of a protagonist who thinks the world revolves around him (because the narrative does! No golden eyes go unnoticed even by characters who hate him!). But it is still YA.

I have listened to "We Forgot We Were Human" (and its reprise) by dirt poor robins approximately 9 times today and had it stuck in my head for over an hour when I wasn't near a listening device. I didn't know the song existed until yesterday and now I can't stop thinking about it the vibes are immaculate like watching someone fall to their own hubris all while thinking they've won so give a shout of farewellll now we know we can build it ourselves! but oh! we stared to long we forgot we were human!
