Been getting a bit back into Invincible stuff lately, especially what with Season 2 coming, and I remembered Nikki - the homeless girl whom Martian Man was friends with (and possibly living with?). And I still feel really bad about her honestly.

She's a pretty minor question but her role is both very tragic and also kinda raises several questions.

For one thing; why didn't Martian Man seemingly do anything for her? At least get her to social services or try to arrange some proper housing for her other than a condemned building. Is it due to lack of understanding of earth/humans due to being Martian? Or did he try but wasn't able to do anything?

There is probably an argument to be made that pulling strings for Nikki's sake would be too attention-drawing. People might notice this random homeless girl has some important connections and so keep an eye on her and might connect her to Martian Man.

She at least seemed to be still alive and getting food from the soup kitchen last she appeared. But still... given several other Guardians were shown with loved ones in the montage, it does give the implication that they were quite close, possibly even some kind of parental figure.

Given she's still homeless after his death and is never mentioned by others and also didn't appear to attend the funeral, it does give the impression as well that others are unaware of all. Although even if Martian Man did mention he was friends with a homeless kid; that's probably a fairly vague statement to go on and it'd probably be difficult tracking her down specifically.

But this means that while the families of the other guardians at least got to attend the funeral as a potential form of closure, and also could even possibly use one another for emotion support or appeal to the GDA for assistance... Nikki got none of those options or possibilities.

She's lost someone close to her and she doesn't appear to even have anyone to confide in or watch out for her; few would believe her if she tried discussing her feelings about Martian Man's death and even if they did it would only bring dangerous attention onto her.

Just a shitty situation all round for her and I kind of hope Season 2 shows she's continuing to at least do okay. Haven't read the comic (although I might) but from what I've seen it doesn't appear she was a comic character so I guess her fate's up to the show writers (assuming they choose to show her again anyway).

It was completely unexpected and the family is trying to get his gofundme out to the artists community to help pay for his memorial (possibly also burial? I didn't ask too many questions) He was a very kind man who my friend has looked up to since we were little.

His name was William "Will" Ruzicka. He worked on many beloved movies and tv shows including The Legend of Korra, Invincible (2021), Ben 10, Blood of Zeus (2020), G.I. Joe: Renegades (2010), several batman movies (including several Batman Unlimited movies), and more listed on his imdb page.

Status Post #10985: Invincible is the only animated show to date to have crossed over into the Big Two universes as a result of the second season finale, when Mark encountering a variant of Spider-Man called Agent Spider (voiced by none other than Josh Keaton) in one universe and meeting Batman (well, the back of him) in another universe.

Honestly, though I have some issues with how the show handles their relationship, I really do like Mark and Amber together?? Like they got to know each other’s interests (seemingly) before they started dating, they have a similar desire to help people but with differing personalities (Amber’s more direct and outspoken while Mark tends to be more avoidant and soft spoken) that can help balance each other out (and it does!! Amber IS willing to give Mark second chances and Amber inspires Mark to try and take direct action to help those who need it in the city!!).

Yeah, they’re having problems with miscommunication, but I’m seeing people either condemning Amber as a selfish bitch (she’s not selfish for wanting her boyfriend to talk to her?? For wanting to be treated as someone who matters to him?? She’s allowed to want to communicate with him instead of him lying to her??) or Mark as, apparently, as bad as his dad (which - Nolan called Debbie a ‘pet’ and hid the fact he was planning on colonizing and enslaving her planet from her. The lies Mark told were bad, yeah, but are nowhere close to the same level. Istg fandom really can’t have any sympathy for two teenagers of color huh). But like, they both made mistakes, and they’re both trying to make up for it!

Mark definitely should have been more honest with Amber about why he had to keep flaking off things (not even telling her his identity - like maybe just saying something like “I have this thing that I really can’t get away from, and it keeps me really busy, so I will probably have to cancel things at times. I’ll do my best to balance everything, but I’m still figuring stuff out. I’d rather not specify what it is right now, because it’s pretty sensitive for my family, but I’m just letting you know the reason I won’t be able to make things or might not have much time.”) And Amber definitely came off as kind of rude when she yelled at Mark for leaving them despite knowing he was Invincible (which, she really didn’t have to tbh. The scene would’ve been just fine if Mark had told her and she had the same angry reaction), and I can see why people didn’t like it when, even when Mark explained things, she was still mad - but honestly, she’s entitled to be. She probably could have been more understanding about all the weight on Mark’s shoulders, but she has a right to be angry about being lied and stood up for so long, just like Mark has a right to keep his own secrets.

Mark was more at fault, but they both made mistakes - ones that I think they’re definitely going to learn from. Now that Mark and Amber don’t have that ‘secret identity’ wall between them, a huge part of what led to these issues with communication is gone, so they can start working with each other to do that better.

I don’t think they should have gotten together so soon after Episode 8 (after everything Mark went through in that episode... jfc, he needs therapy, not a relationship), but I really want them to be endgame. I think Eve is kind of bland, boring, and predictable, and while I get why people ship them, I think Mark and Amber better compliment each other and can help each other grow.

For all fans of the Invincible comic and animated TV series, I wanted to know if the couple, Samantha and Mark, have a ship name. I haven't seen any. If anyone knows or has an idea, please comment but be respectful.

People pissing on Amber's character like yes there are parts where her being pissed at Mark are like inconsistent at best but that's not the point!!

The point of her relationship and anger at Mark is about Mark failing to respect her time, her trust, and her love for him because he was too focused on his big picture superheroing.

Is he going through a lot learning to fight and save and restructure his sense of personhood from "boy with cool dad who might one day get powers" to "young adult who can fly into a mountain and has newfound heavy responsibility and is learning how to use it".

But even with all that, that does not excuse him taking his relationships for granted. And not just with her but with that lifelong best friend he has who he didn't tell shit until he figured it out himself.

Him telling her he's invincible wasn't something he did because he decided to trust her back, he did it finally only out of desperation after he'd already pushed her trust to the brink and expected it to be a fix all solution.

Her not telling him she knew was her way of respecting his boundaries, and also an act of her own trust that someday he would trust her. But he didn't! She might not have had any grand secrets to divulge, but her letting him into her life by meeting her parents and helping at the community center and agreeing to go to college together. Were all pretty serious commitments!

And to just have him continuously blow her off without good reason, and explicitly lie to her face and treat her like an idiot every time she confronted about how she was not putting up with his bold faced BS, and almost all the time knowing what it was he's hiding but still trying to be patient with him? Literally anyone would've been at the end of their rope.
