ICJ calls on Israel to implement provisional measures in Rafah
It seems the opposite of logic for them to say this but then refuse to do anything about it. They had given Israel 30 days to stop and when they instead stepped up the bombings the ICJ just wags its finger and little else. The Court case resumes on Monday so we'll see what happens but I personally am not going to hold my breath.

One under-appreciated value of int'l humanitarian law: it holds individuals accountable for actions, orders of battle, approval of tactics.
Individuals - not whole nations, not ethnicities.
All Palestinians aren't responsible for Hamas &
and all Jews are not resp. for the IDF

RAFAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — More than half a million people in Gaza — a quarter of the population — are starving, according to a report Thursday by the U.N. and other agencies that highlights the humanitarian crisis caused by Israel’s bombardment and siege on the territory in response to Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack. The extent of the population’s hunger eclipsed even the near-famines in Afghanistan and Yemen of recent years, according to figures in the report. The report warned that the risk of famine is “increasing each day,” blaming the hunger on insufficient aid entering Gaza. “It doesn’t get any worse,’’ said Arif Husain, chief economist for the U.N.’s World Food Program. “I have never seen something at the scale that is happening in Gaza. And at this speed.” ... At the start of the war, Israel stopped all deliveries of food, water, medicine and fuel into the territory. After U.S. pressure, it allowed a trickle of aid in through Egypt. But U.N. agencies say only 10% of Gaza’s food needs has been entering for weeks. (Dec. 21, 2023 | Source)

How do gender and diversity relate to mine action?
This #MineAwarenessDay, we release our new explainer, created together with the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining - GICHD. Learn the significance of embedding gender, age, and disability insights into Mine Action practices.
Tumblr media
UNIDIR's Gender and Disarmament Programme and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) have produced a short explainer on gender and diversity in the context of mine action. This resource explains the importance of integrating gender and diversity considerations, such as age and disability, into specific areas of mine action: Survey and Clearance; Explosive Ordnance Risk Education; Victim Assistance; and Employment. Based on examples from various regions, this resource demonstrates that gender and diversity mainstreaming can better address affected people’s needs and protect their rights, making mine action more effective.

Support Van Hollen amendment to finally force Israel and other aid recipients to comply with IHL
Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) is putting forth an amendment to Joe Biden’s requested supplemental bill that would send more than $14 billion to Israel and $30 billion to Ukraine in additional military funding (as well as another $30 billion-plus in economic aid to Ukraine). His amendment, which now has the support of 17 other senators, would place three requirements on ALL military aid to any…

They REALLY need to come up with a new card to play. You can't accuse the majority of the planet of being Hamas and/or antisemites because you are FINALLY being expected to be held accountable. Laws and rules applying to your GOVERNMENT have nothing to do with your religion. It is YOU that continue to conflate the 2 because it's the only (tired) "defense" you can come up with. Ridiculous!

Spanish PM accused Israel of violation of International humanitarian law
Tumblr media
While European Union is slavishly aligned with Washington in its support to Israeli genocidal campaign in the Gaza Strip, discordant and courageous voice has been taken by the spanish PM Pedro Sanchez expressing his “serious doubt” that Israel was in compliance with international humanitarian law while waging war on the Palestinian group, given the imagery coming from the enclave and the “growing numbers of children dying” Sánchez was speaking at the end of a two-day visit to Israel, the Palestinian territories and Egypt with de Croo. This critical stance of Sanchez vis a vis far right Israeli government supported by European Union member states and the United States is uttered not only by the Spanish PM but also by rotational incumbent president of the EU till December 31, 2023 before taking over by Belgium from January 1, 2024. Sánchez also called for European Union recognition of a Palestinian state, saying Spain might do so on its own. At odds with other members of the EU which are all under the control of powerful Jewish pro-Israeli lobby, controlling the mainstream media, turning blind eye to Israeli war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity by committing mass killing against disarmed civilian populations in the Gaza strip and the systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure, hospitals, schools, this is the first time European leader publicly and implicitly recognizes that Netanyahu’s government is bluntly violating the International humanitarian law except he was not demanding reparations for Palestinians by holding accountable Israeli civil and military leadership that should be trying before the International criminal Court especially created by the West to punish the leaders refusing to kneel to western diktat and to sell their nations and states at lower prices. It is worth nothing that the so called International community, that is the Collective West, didn’t hesitate to instrumentalize the International justice, by creating a special tribunal the Hague war crime tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, set up in 1993 to put on trial and hold accountable the late Serb leader, Slobodan Milosevic prosecuted for his purported crimes war committed against Bosnians. This time, by comparing Milosevic’s so called war crimes and crimes against humanity with Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip, one can say without hesitation, Milosevic was war criminal apprentice, a choirboy. When we speak about International justice, one has to wonder which kind of International justice we are speaking about.

The Revelations, Disclosed by Alicia Kearns, the Conservative chair of the House of Commons select committee on foreign affairs, during a Tory fundraising event on March 13, contradict previous ministerial statements denying or evading the issue.
A Former Foreign Office and Ministry of Defence official, Kearns has consistently pushed ministers, including Foreign Secretary David Cameron, for transparency regarding the legal advice they have received. Kearns maintains her stance and urges the government to be forthcoming about the legal advice.
She said: "I remain convinced the government has completed its updated assessment on whether “Terrorist, Fascist, War Criminal, Genocidal, An Illegal Regime of the Zionist 🐖 🐷 🐗 Isra-hell” is demonstrating a commitment to International Humanitarian Law, and that it has concluded that Israel is not demonstrating this commitment, which is the legal determination it has to make."
"Transparency at this point is paramount, not least to uphold the international rules-based order."

I am nerveous about what happening in gaza. And that is shows in my mental health too.
I had an appointment to my psychiater yesterday and I wanted to talk about it with her.
She was furious. What I am thinking I am not part of neither of the groups I have nothing to do with them.
Then I started speaking about the right of return and the escaping from home. Because that's a common trauma.
She was just angrier. But Hamas! What they did is inhumans and they deserve what happening to them and human shields!
I got surprised. She is a psychiater. She should know about generational traumas.
But the pogroms! And there lot of antisemites! The palestines are not better than the gypsies they just want money but they aren't working for it.
I mentioned that the politicans from Israel want to do to Gaza what the USA did in Hirosima and Nagasaki.
That was deserved because of the Pearl harbor!
I wanted to arguing that the Nazies had gotten Nuremberg trials and they shouldnt kill anybody.
But this is war and they should die.
She is in healtcare. I mentioned the bombings of the hospitals and the propaganda behind it. She didn't listened. She thought that was the right thing to do because of Hamas.
SHE IS A HEALTCARE WORKER!!! SHE IS A PSYCHIATER!!! AND SHE OK WITH KILLING PEOPLE?! SHE IS ISLAMOPHOBE AND RACIST!
I need a new psychiater ASAP...

I have started a side blog @peoplesinternationallaw
i hope to explain concepts of atrocity crimes. These are things like genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. I also then will try to explain the weaknesses of international law as a framework to prevent and punish these acts. I will be doing this from an anti imperialist perspective. I have started with genocide and then I hope to do the rest. hopefully this will be of some use to people
