idk how many of you remember this but a few years ago tumblr ran a universally panned ad campaign for (us american) pride month that went "the gayest place on the internet".

well someone planning that campaign dropped in to ask the queer automatticians for advice on that and universally me and the other trans people involved were like "don't do it. i am so serious. don't do it. people on tumblr won't understand that it wasn't automattic who instituted the porn ban, or they will, but they'll recognize that automattic hasn't done anything, hands tied or not, to reverse it. nobody will like this. it will be a disaster." and they thanked us for our thoughts and went ahead with it anyway and then had to do retrospectives about how badly it went and were like "we just didn't know" and [gestures] yeah [edit: i think the person who rbed saying it was queerest place on the internet was right, my brain is fried, sorry! and that's... even worse lmao]

Orpheus and Linus being mortal while having two gods as their parents (Apollo and usually Calliope) makes sense to me only if their biological father was a mortal and Apollo just came into their life like this:

I mean, Oeagrus is mentioned as the father of both Orpheus and Linus in some versions. And in Dionysiaca he also leaves behind Calliope and a new born Orpheus (and his entire kingdom) to join Dionysus in his war against the Indians. So Apollo stepping in as a father figure is entirely plausible.

Welp:

It's no surprise that Cole's go-to choice is Zane, but beyond the elephant in the room, they are each other's oldest + longest-lasting friend, and know each other best. They often fall into line with one another without even having to ask!

Similar to Cole and Zane, Kai and Jay tend to fall into sync automatically, as despite their tendency to take shots at each other their elements complement one another well and they both know how to get the most out of each other's fighting style.

If Nya and Lloyd weren't already Ride or Die, they'd wind up with one another anyway given how much the Core Four tend to head off doing their own thing a fair chunk of the time. Suits Nya just fine though—although we gotta be careful that Lloyd's enthusiastically destructive tendancies don't rub off on her snknksnk

Antonia probably shouldn't be weaseling her way into anything remotely dangerous, but when she does she's obviously tagging along with Jesse (at least, until Nelson gets into the picture). Jesse never fights it because he knows he's not gonna win shgfdhggd

Sunni's de facto best friend may be Samantha, but whenever she does wind up entangled with some Ninja Things, she's tag-teaming with Miranda (in which they may get distracted talking about Jay or sci-fi topics), and/or Harleigh (depending on the point-in-time...and Harleigh's mood)

This is prolly gonna sound somewhat bizarre, but I plan to have Skylor and Pixal team up often because they are both badass and cool and I desire more of their dynamic. We had a teeny taste in Crystalized and I want MOAR (...at least, once Pixal starts to warm-up to Skylor after, y'know, Skylor's dad tearing her apart and stuff.)

Olivia: Since Nya has replaced me with garbage, I'll just have to take Bridget instead 😤 Bridget: No, no you're nOT—

Brad/Sally/Gene and Chad/Maggie/Meghan all come as packaged set within their trios, though while they're not ~main~ characters, they'll show up often enough during shenanigans to be mentioned and I love their dynamics with one another (despite Chad's group being jerks at this moment in time) but aaaah I'm so excited to use them more—they're not exactly friends but they do eventually see the similarities in one another and it's so fun

Scott’s more used to pulling off heists, not stakeouts. And honestly, he thought he might never take up a stakeout job again.

When he was asked to do a stakeout against what looked like a ragtag crew of amateur thieves, he thought this would be a piece of cake, especially considering his size and skills set.

Worse. It was boring.

These guys were doing nothing. Scott watched for two full days with nothing to show for it. He was beginning to think his information was wrong, but his informant was hardly ever wrong with stuff like this. They were going for something big, and they apparently needed big help to get it done.

So when the crew had arranged for a meeting with someone who could give them big help, Scott almost cheered. Finally! Something’s actually happening.

When he followed the crew in question to the rendezvous, there was someone there waiting for them already.

“Holy shit,” Scott muttered when he realized who they were meeting. Scott knew them.

“What are you up to?” he wondered aloud from his hiding place as he watched the exchange go down.

Okay so maybe stakeouts weren’t too bad after all…

Strangely, I don't think I've come across any epithets for Apollo that are specifically poetry related, in spite of his close association with poets and poetry. I haven't been able to find any such epithets for even the Muses. I think that might be because poetry, along with other forms of arts like dance, music, song, theatre etc were included in the term mousikí/mousikè (I'm not sure what it translates to, but it basically includes all the arts that the Muses preside over). So the closest titles I can find for this are Musagetes and Musarchos, both of them meaning "the leader of Muses".

As for linguistics, that isn't something Apollo is typically associated with, even if in one tradition he did contribute to the invention of the alphabets. I guess Apollo's epithet "Loxias" kinda counts? It translates to "he of the crooked words" because his prophecies are ambiguous and confusing. Not linguistics but maybe like word play? That's the closest I can think of though.
