#song of the day #Sleep Token really saving my sanity as we navigate this dark and uncertain time without an upgraded sibling singalong playlist #had to go out into the snow on under two hours' sleep to get groceries #(the farmers' market gave me kefir cheese so any amount of suffering would've been worthwhile but I couldn't know that at the time)#and getting into Nick's car knowing there was music I could request that he could play loud as he wanted and I wouldn't want to cry #I mean blessing isn't even a strong enough term. baking a cake for the Sleep Token guy (his name is Vessel) as we speak #anyway this song sounds incredible in the original and then so odd sung acapella. like singing a bass line just a couple beats repeating #polar opposite of my lady indie covers. a song rendered fully unrecognizable when I wander the house mumbling it to myself #the verses do alright I suppose but the chorus is out of the question. the lyrics are so strong too real gut-punch lines #'and my reflection just won't smile back at me like I know it should / and I would turn into a stranger in an instant if I could #and there is something eating me alive I don't know what it is / maybe not that you conceal your feelings they just don't exist'#the whole song is like that it is so so so good. every new Sleep Token song I hear I'm like oh of course yes I see why these are fic titles #(Sleep Token catching up to Fall Out Boy and Hozier in terms of lines I've seen as fic titles. i come from the 8tracks generation where you weren't allowed to just dump three and a half twee indie folk/tswift records into a fanmix and call it done. on 8tracks you had 8+ handpicked songs in rigid chronological order and an accompanying mission statement and thesis defence detailing exactly why each one applied to your derek x stiles coffee shop au AND cover/track-list art hodgepodged from stolen pinterest/tumblr aesthetic photography, and all of this was done under constant threat of death because it was the DMCA wild west and the site was in a constant state of gradual collapse.

I've got sooooooo many lmao but ok here are some of my most "these are in a state I'm pleased with" and maybe some of them will land! 👉👈

I've got great big playlists of music that "sounds like" a particular decade to me. hands down my nineties playlist is my favorite, very grungy alt rock with splashes of house and trip hop. the eighties playlist is also good, very new wave. the thing is, I do still need to add more 80s/90s hip-hop and 80s funk than they have currently, but I'm largely happy with them.

I've also been experimenting with making playlists that sound like a certain time of year. so here's muggy folk music for hot summer nights and my not-a-christmas-playlist of wintry midcentury jazz standards.

more general mood music here are some chill tracks that are perfect to me. here's some trashy indie rock and electro pop that's like millenial catnip to me. here's a playlist where I was trying to capture that same sound but it's specifically about queer women partying hard and fucking nasty. here is a disco/glam/dance punk playlist where after I finished it I was like "wow that's gayer than I expected" but I don't know why bc the songs I based the sound on were scissor sisters, mika, and elton john?!? I may be stupid. and here's my official bleaching my hair in my bathroom playlist. it's about women.

more conceptually here's a playlist about being stuck in a time loop and also maybe stuck in the 60s or 70s. and here's my thesis about how water is woman-coded. and here's "what if the fey realm were an abandoned mall with a roller disco." and here's a technogoth vampire night club for an urban shadows campaign I'll never get to run

fandomwise here's a playlist for kendall roy sucks session that I will maybe one day update for the latest season. and here's a folk/americana fanmix for magnus archives the buried. maybe one day I will finish the others. then there's my current Ravenloft Problem. there's the ravenloft megamix and the ravenloft pre-y2k throwback mix, and then there's the strahd von zarovich aggression mix, the seduction mix, and the angst mix. and then there's the angst mix's opposing pov, the tatyana mix.

generally speaking if a playlist is meant to be consumed shuffled or played in order it will say 🔀 or ▶️ in the description. otherwise follow your heart.

This is a week-long event celebrating the ladies of the line of Finwë! There have been events within the Silmarillion fandom focused on the sons of Finwë and their descendents, and to add to the fun this week was established to give his wives, daughters, and other female descendants their own time to shine.

Finwëan Ladies Week began in 2019 and has run every year since. We are back for more in our fifth year, this time from September 18-24, 2023!

Any content and creations about the ladies of Finwë’s line are welcome! You can create edits, gifs, fanart, fanfic, fanmixes, and more!

Below are some prompts for each day of the week. They are not mandatory, but they are here to inspire you. This page will lead to a detailed explanation for each one.

I know I literally made a whole thing of how I don't normally do fanmixes, but I needed some music that was under 40min and very familiar so I played Linkin Park's Meteora album and the entire time I had the band au in my brain. except they'd need more members to make it work. and i kept trying to think of who it'd be for such a collab. maybe i'm too tired idk but it was like if the au band sang in a higher register than they probably would and since both Linkin Park's first three albums and your art live rent-free in my head it was only a matter of time

thats actually rly perfect now that i think abt it. ive always imagined the music range Law brings is more indie soft rock and they have to balance it with kid and killer's metal and punk rocks. LP feels like it fits their style hmmm as for musical collabs, i haven't really thought much about who else is in the music industry. Most everyone in the AU has regular jobs to be socially accepted adults, but Kid in particular really wants this band to be a thing (especially for killer) after many attempts, band breakups and accidents. they could wring in the other kid pirates for a gig or two but barely as regulars.

possible candidates: Uta - but luffy never thought of bringing it up that his sister is a famous singer Corazon - Law saw all the Donquixote posters on their walls and decided to gatekeep him away from them as long as he can hawkins/apoo - kinda their gigmates before? left "for greener pastures" and now theyre not allowed near each other
