Found Sweet Pea 2nd Cycle of an expedition despite supposedly having turned pups off and managed to shelter before either of us died. However second to last Cycle after my friend joined, I died outside the den with Sweet Pea on my back while my friend waited in the den, the shelter closed before we could grab them ;-;

Have you ever had to deal with a dog you've groomed not coming back and finding out they died? If so, how? Mine died a while back and I still get gut punched thinking about him sometimes, so I went to his groomer, just to sit there, pretending I'm waiting for him to come back. His old groomer saw me. She sat besides me and said that she misses him too. We cried together for a while there.

i've worked in daycare/grooming/training facilities for a few years so I've had a few losses & usually we find out because the owners call to cancel an appointment, or they have multiple dogs and bring in the others without that that dog, but it pretty much always ends in the staff having a collective cry, cuz even if it isn't technically 'our' dog, we’ve spent a considerate amount of time with them, and we love them. grooming especially tends to get a lot more elderly dogs which is hard but like. I just give em as much love while they're with me that I can and I think thats all you can do. love the hell out of them while they’re here, remember them when they're gone, and carry on that legacy with your next pet/your friends and family pets/pets you pass on the street.
