Extremely unpopular opinion but it needs to be said cuz its getting out of hand

Saw this on twitter and it is such a ridiculously inaccurate comparison its unbelieveable.

Note: the reason Im doing this here is because of twitters character limit and I dont feel like breaking up my points into a million tiny pieces when I can just get it all out in a single post here.

This is comparing complete trailers from YEARS ago with months of likes and dislikes built up to a teaser trailer that only just released, the only way to accurately compare them is to get all the other teaser trailers reception after a few days of release which I dont think is possible.

Its just as possible those teasers had overwhelming dislikes just like this at first, of course not in the millions because obviously some of this IS racially motivated but lets not act like this is an accurate comparison that proves the only issue is race cuz its not.

Even in the evidence shown its very clear many ppl still despised the remakes more and more as they came out for variety of reasons, to name a few Belles dress was an issue, the Beast looking terrible, Beyonce terrible voice acting, and obviously displeasure with key story elements being changed for the worse [Ex: Mulan].

Racists aside ppl ARE genuinely tired of remakes because they almost ALWAYS butcher the original, and yes ppl do nitpick and scrutinize many details about it that others may consider no big deal.

I just hate that this whole thing has just come down to 'if you dont like the Little Mermaid remake your racist' even if your critcism has nothing to do with that just because a large chunk of racists decide to make it about that, everyone else with genuine critiques are lumped together with em.

Idc if Ariel is black blue purple or green, my concern is what are they gonna do with the story? the teaser looks dull and lifeless which yes could just be the environment but it is a legitimate red flag for concern, for me tbh Halle and her voice were the best part about the trailer, but a single actress cannot carry an entire film by herself. I dread what Sebastian and Flounder are gonna look like after seein what they did to Lumiere and Cogsworth Im scared their gonna look just as freaky lookin & over the top.

And this counter of 'if you dont like dont watch nobodys forcing you to' falls flat because none of the remakes I despise have I watched lol I just looked at reviews breaking it down and basically confirming my intuition that it was gonna be shit, which surprisingly alot of ppl also do who dont like these bs remakes but are still curious of just how BAD it was.

Nobody has to WATCH anything to know how bad it is or have an opinion on it, if the vast majority of the unpaid audience says the remakes were shit, chances are they was pretty shit, just because it made money doesnt mean it was objectively good, Disney knows that they can play on ppls nostalgia with a classic, ppl will hate it for being live action and tell ppl not to go see it, and ppl will go see it anyway out of both spite and curiosity resulting in it being a smash box office hit.

Not because it was good, but because ppl were stupid and paid money to see it, whether the movie was shit or not is irrelevant afterward cuz they already got your money which is the main objective. Disney is a smart company, they know what their doing, they know live action remakes of beloved classics will draw alot of ppl to theaters to see it either for their kids, for their own genuine interest, or just hate watching to see just how bad its gonna be.

Regardless of the reasoning Disney knows its gonna make money, lots of it, which is their only true goal, and thats what ppl hate.

We understand the motivation and reasoning but we dont have to like it just like you dont have to dislike it, but telling ppl ‘If you dont like this remake your racist!’ doesnt help your cause at all nor does it make your point more valid, if anything your making ppl hate the movie MORE because nobody wants to be called a racist just because they dont like something that happens to have a black person in it.

For example the princess and the frog had poor reception not because she was black, but because the story just fell flat and the fact that she was a frog for majority of the movie so ppl felt like she didnt really represent for that long to of been the ‘first black princess’ and was overall underwhelming. The movie still got positive reviews, but it was obvious that it didnt resonate as well as intended, this was actually where the decline in quality for Disney started going down.

Again I wont say no hate is racially motivate, of course there is, but those are not the ONLY ppl speaking out about their dissatisfaction with the remake, the princess and the frog wasnt a remake of anything and ppl still took issue with it, shockingly more black ppl were upset by it than anyone else so are they racist because they didnt like how the first black princess was portrayed? of course not.

Ariel being black isnt the real issue for non racists obviously, the real issue is this is once again an obvious cash grab playing on nostalgia and ‘inclusivity’ to make a quick buck off of everyone gullible enough to buy it and ppl are just tired of it.

People have been complaining about Disneys fake half hearted attempts at being more inclusive for ages now, remember the ‘gay’ representation they added in Beauty and the beast? remember that 2 second lesbian kiss in the new lightyear movie? remember that one gay cop from that one movie I cant even remember? I believe there was hints of a gay relationship in Frozen too that could easily go unnoticed.

I know all of this revolves around sexuality but inclusivity is inclusivity, Disney has made more of an effort to be more inclusive with race rather than sexuality but it doesnt change the fact that they were and are very calculated with when what and how they do it. In this case it was easy to make Ariel black because shes a mermaid which has no defined race other than half human half fish so it was easy to make her black for ‘representation’ even if we all know its disingenuous

Now Im gonna say something even more controversial that I heard someone mention in a video years ago when discussing the problems with the Princess and the frog movie that I now see may be more true than even I realized.

The statement was that when it comes to characters of color, specifically black or brown, their always portrayed as ‘non human’ like for example Tiana being a frog most of the movie and in this case Ariel being born a mermaid, brother bear also had the protag be a bear for most of the movie, turning red also had the protag be a red panda for a good chunk of the movie.

I know you could argue cases like Aladin [wasnt an animal but ppl have pointed it out for being very orientalist] Moana and Lilo and stich but keep in mind black and brown ppl are more consistently portrayed as animals/non human.

Compare that to the white/light skin characters like Belle, Mulan, Cinderella, Snow white, Elsa and Anna, the protag of treasure planet, Wendy, Merida etc, you see THOSE characters are more consistently human than not.

Which is another issue with this false take of ‘inclusivity’ when you really look at it you realize just how half hearted it really is, you might wanna give it props for effort but that doesnt mean it cant get called out for it. I mean it would be nice to have a black protagonist that isnt an animal or some sort of hybrid for a good chunk of the movie but actually be human throughout the film and have a great story like Mulan and Belle and Elsa etc.

You can add fantasy elements WITHOUT your protag becoming non human for whatever reason, Mulan had Mushu, Belle had the enchantress, Elsa had elemental powers, so its not IMpossible to do they just dont WANT to.

Anyway getting back to the whole Ariel debacle I just think its so unfair how genuine critique has been made all about racism just because a good chunk of racists are being what they’ve always been long before this movie even came about, racist, but their irrelevant takes shouldnt drown out genuine critique and concerns.

The teaser really DIDNT do the movie justice, when you drop a teaser its supposed to show off the best you have so far, I get part of your world is an iconic scene from the movie but to show off that insanely dark and dreary background is justifiably off putting when you consider how far technology has come and what it can do, Disney is a fantasy and magical company that is all about vibrant colors in all their movies so why are they suddenly driving for realism in a trailer that centers around a mythical creature? you seriously gonna tell me ppl SHOULDNT complain about how dark and lifeless the trailer looks just because its ‘realistic’ when its an unrealistic story? come on now.

Anyway I dont wanna keep repeating myself so I’ll end with this, YES a huge chunk of the outrage/backlash is racially motivated, racism has always existed and it always will so nobodys surprised by this, but it is not ALL racially motivated and those ppl deserve to be heard and listened to and just drown out the racists because nobody cares what they think, they are who they are and theres no changing that so giving them attention will only make it worse

People are allowed to hate the remakes, ppl are allowed to like them, ppl are allowed to have opinions whether they watch it or not, Im glad little black girls get to see their favorite mermaid be black like them because their young and that means alot to them I get that and I truly do want to see this movie succeed, but given Disneys track record with remakes and how the teaser looks so far it doesnt look good but theres still time for improvement.

+ As I grow up, Im the youngest child in family and the only girl, my family, my bros made me like I cant do anything right, My opinions are always wrong and I just cant live on my own, so I end up being too scared to see new things or take any decision cuz maybe " its wrong " " who said is right " idk is just too unsure and scared that I cant do it, and Im always wrong even in the little things like " i like apple " they made me feel like a fool, childish for liking it ... or even in the small things they alwqys make fun of me smh, and Im very sensitive too. So if u have any advice on how u became the person u are or if u can share with me u know ur tips ur daily life becuz I really want to learn from and U always inspired me.

🌸 Shower Daily. You may have to shower more depending on how active you are, the climate you’re in, and how much you sweat.

Your shower routine should include:

- Washing your ENTIRE body. Your feet/in between your toes, behind your ears, your buttocks, everything! - Use soap. Alright, this sounds silly, but when I was in college I had a roommate who never showered with soap. Please use soap. Use it with a loofah/washcloth/silicone bath brush/etc.

🌸Incorporate Dry Brushing. Do this prior to showering on dry skin. This will help prevent cellulite and keep your skin smooth and firm as you age.

🌸Wash Your Vagina. Do not put soap in the vagina! You can use a gentle cleanser/pH balanced feminine wash (I recommend Rael Natural, vH Essentials, Organyc) on the exterior vaginal area. Never use soap inside the vagina, just water! Click here to watch a video to see the actual motions. *The video isn’t graphic, but I wouldn’t recommend watching it in public lol*

You’ll thank me later. - Sleep; Unless you are a student studying for an important exam, there is no reason you should be staying up every night. - Maintain your hands and feet. Make sure your nails are clean. Make sure your skin is hydrated.

As for your family, it’s important to keep in mind that although they matter, at the end of the day you came into this world alone and you will leave alone. You must be able to rely on yourself, and that begins with trusting yourself. If you continue to let them influence you, you will never be able to achieve your full potential.

They may have filled you with doubt, but I promise you that trusting yourself is the best decision. Sure, you can listen to their input, but your choices at the end of the day is the most important. Start by making small decisions for yourself (who you’ll hang out with, what hobbies you’ll pursue), and when you see that the decision ended up positive, it’ll be easier to trust yourself.

As for myself, I became the way I am by deciding that I was going to live life on my terms. Just like when someone decides to be a lawyer, they go to college, take the LSAT, then law school. I made that decision, and began to live my life accordingly. ❤️

The only thing you must do is decide to be hypergamous, and then make a plan. Level up. Be smart. Be financially and mentally secure. Don’t settle. Only date men who align with your vision. Realize almost everyone around you can help you get from point A to point Z.

You also never have to give up your interests (like Kpop). If you enjoy it and it doesn’t hurt anyone, keep it. Just add some hobbies/interests :)

YOU FOOLS GAVE ME TEN NOTES ON THE HALLOWEEN POST SO NOW IM DOING THIS ONE AND YOU CANT STOP ME im going to annoy my grand total of 14 followers yet again

(Modern/High school au yknow like just cuz)

Ranking Great Comet characters based on how they would be at a Halloween party

Andrey - 4/10. Andrey doesn't really do shit at parties in general, except stand in the corner and get in fights on twitter. He only does two exciting things all night. 1. scare the shit out of Natasha by holding her head under the water during apple bobbing for a second, just to freak her out. She cried. 2. Got in a fistfight with Dolokhov.

Natasha - 9/10. Definitely set up the party and got Sonya and Mary to help her decorate the back yard all spooky. She goes all-out on her princess costume. Would waltz with you to the moster mash. There's so much candy. She put candy everywhere. All-around great hostess, a tiny bit naïve as always, though.

Sonya - 6/10. Overall usually kind of boring at parties, but she loosens up a bit on Halloween. Convinces Mary to dance a little. Had to be physically restrained by Pierre when Andrey scared Natasha so she didn't get violent. Spends most of the night with Mary near the snacks.

Marya - 6/10. She doesn't really go out in the backyard to party with the kids but occasionally makes an appearance. Just takes a handful of candy, whacks Anatole with her broomstick (dressed as a witch) and leaves again.

Anatole - 9/10. Anatole is always the life of the party, no matter what kind. Dances like it's the fucking end of the world when the Spooky Scary Skeletons remix comes on. Will break it down with anyone and everyone who will let him dance with them. (*cough* Mary and Sonya won't *cough*) Spikes the punch.

Hélène - 10/10. Arguably knows how to work a crowd better than her brother or even Dolokhov. Tells everyone they look great, flexes on everyone with how well she can dance, and drinks an unholy amount of spiked punch. Would spin you so many times you almost fall over and attempt to catch you. It may or may not work.

Dolokhov - 8/10. Always huge fun at parties due to the sheer chaos inside of him that could show itself at any moment. Probably runs the DJ booth for a solid hour and a half before getting bored of just standing there. Hits people with his fake sword and runs away laughing. Andrey did not find it funny. Dolokhov got in a fistfight with Andrey.

Mary - 2/10. Hates parties. Spends the entire night with Sonya hiding in some corner of the backyard with a bowl of candy. At least that was the plan, until Sonya dragged her over to dance. The most enjoyment she gets out of the party is whenever Marya shows up and smacks Anatole with her broom.

Old Prince Bolkonsky - 1/10. Falls asleep on the back porch. Somebody stole Dolokhov's pirate hat and put it on him. It may or may not have been Sonya. The small amount of time he was awake was spent complaining about 'kids these days and their soulless, awful music.'

Pierre - 6/10. Dressed as William Snakespeare and literally only speaks in Shakespeare quotes all night. Which is funny at first, but eventually after he's gotten drunk on spiked punch it gets annoying. He's said "How now, a rat?!" And tried to stab somebody with a plastic knife at LEAST four times. Still, occasionally entertaining.

Balaga - ??/10. How did he get here. Nobody invited him. Where did he get the small horse. Why does he have a small horse. These terrible questions.

im having so many thoughts i need to put them somewhere so here we go

i hate twitter so fucking much and i regret ever joining it and i want to delete all of the (dormant) accounts i have on there but im too scared to do it. that’s all

lately ivd been missing br*ghton a lot but im shy now and im scared to reach out to anyone and say hi 😔 yesterday i got so stressed and mad cuz this place is a wreck and i miss having a clean slate in my dorm w a mess that was manageable and that i was solely responsible for. and today i was thinking abt the farmers market and how i used to make my regular breakfast from home w all the same ingredients bht they tasted different cuz i was in another country and i didn’t like it at first but now i miss it a lot 😔 like the bread and everything was so good. also it’s absolutely bizarre to me that i like. walked around a city once. i took it for granted while i was there but it was only rly bc i was so anxious i couldn’t get my brain to slow down and soak it all in and now who knows if i’ll ever get to go back but like. i really really do miss it i would give anything to walk around town again. i had a dream the other night that i was on campus there in the main building and my dad was picking me up to take me to the airport for an emergency flight home bc of covid and it was like 4am and i ran out of the building and collapsed on the grass outside and just started crying and crying cuz i didn’t want to and i woke up and realized that basically happened to me i was just in my dorm and all alone and. lol

i have to make a post graduation plan and a timeline for my degree plan rn and i hate it so fucking much. activities and assignments that deal you the maximum amount of psychological torture

im like *makes my first discord server* *goes crazy* like i cant stop thinking abt it and it’s for work so i have to wait but like. i just wanna add ppl already so we can see how it works and setting up channels and everything is so fun. also i think discord could be a rly cool like... platform for art. like a server could function as a story or a poem or smth on there using read / write only channels or whatever and that’s ridiculously exciting to me but idk if id ever have the time to test that out

i keep saying all this shit in my degree plan abt poetry but i havent written since april i don’t think and im starting to wonder if im even like. good. also if i were to publish stuff that means the ppl i write abt would read my poetry abt them and that is SO profoundly unbearable i dont even have the words for it

it’s been almost a yr since my last haircut and idk what to do. i kinda stopped caring abt how long it is and i was just gonna get it cut when the world opens up again but now it’s looking like an IF the world opens up again so i might just have someone here do it or maybe do it myself although that would be bad. maybe on the anniversary of the day i flew to br*ghton lol

i have so many dishes to do and i don’t want to do them i just want to go to sleep WAHHHHH

You and harry(the HARRY EDWARD STYLES) had been bff's for about 9 years now and you had fillings for him since the day you met, but harry didn't know at all. You kept trying to tell harry, but harry had to time for you, since his famous now, and you thought maybe that you weren't meant to say it to harry yet or just bad timings,but nonetheless you were happy that you are harrys bff.

Present day:

You woke up with the light peeping through the blinds and straight through your face. You let out a sign and pick your phone up from the nightstand hoping to get a miss call or text from harry but instead you got a text from your sister.

Text from sister:

Sister: hey sis 👋🏻i want you to meet my bf here at mom's and eat dinner with us but if you have plans it ok but ya know if you can come try to bring harry if you can lol, ok thanks love ya😘 and drive safely.

Y/N: ok I'll try and get harry to come with me but i bet his not gonna come, but im really excited to see your bf and i hope his a good one haha. See ya later love yah❤️

You got to the bathroom and got a quick shower, after 15 minutes you got out of the bathroom to pick your clothes for the day and you decided to wear a pair of leggings with a cute croptop hoddie and some snickers. You go downstairs and made breakfast. You were eating some pancakes and scrolling to twitter when you saw an article about harry being here at London, so you go through your contacts and text harry.

You got to the car and drove to your mom's house,when you got to the house, harry got your door and opened it for you "here ya go ma lady" harry said with a smirk trying not to laugh, "thank you, such a gentleman" you said laughing.

You were eating and talking with harry and Carla's bf, you asked if you and harry can talk alone and you to go to the backyard.

"thats it... Uh sure why not" harry said with a smirk

"yep thats it so let's go... I just wanna have some fun with you and ya know drink" you said with a giggle

After what feels like an hour(its just been 5mins) you got to your local club that you and harry go to when you two hang out. You both got inside and started chatting and drinking. After an hour of drinking and chatting with harry you were both drunk but you were more drunk, to the point were your vision was blurry. Harry noticed it and deicide to take you home. You both got to your apartment, you plopped in the couch harry on top of you, you lifted you head a little to reach Harry's lips, at this point you were kissing harry, harry was shocked but gave in. The kiss got dipper and dipper to the point were you were unbuttoning harry shirt, harry quickly got to reality and pull back braking the kiss you stand up and sit on the couch.

"im so so so sorry... I... I...i didn't mean to kiss you" you said looking down

"its ok. I.. I... I should be going now" harry said standing up and walking towards the door

"harry wait i... I... I...i need to tell you something" you said looking straight to Harry's eyes, you grab his wrist

So when harry heard this he was so happy but the thoughts in his head was overflowing, harry thought you were just drunk, but he saw been drunk before and you never said anything that is not true or a joke.

"i said i fucking love you ok" you said bitting your bottom lip

"y/n i... I... I-" harry said but you cut him of

"i know i never should've said that. That was stupid im sorry" you looking at him

All of a sudden Harry's lips crashed on yours and you kiss him back.

"i love you too y/n" Harry's said breaking the kiss and hugging you, his face was in the middle of your shoulder and neck,you hug him back your hands was tangled in his curls and you smelling his wonderful scent

Harry kiss you again and picked you up in a bridal style, going to your bedroom, he put you down gently and lying down with you on the other side of bed cuddling with you.
