Hawks takes a heavy interest in Yabuzawa after his rescue. It’s entirely for the direct source of information, of course. As the landscape looks more and more like war and his investigations undercover proceed, any information is useful, and Yabuzawa was close to Shigaraki for a very long time. Hawks doesn’t fully trust the Nomu after everything that’s happened, even if he is in rehabilitation; his friendly demeanor is a facade in order to stay on Yabuzawa’s (and Mic’s) good side. Yabuzawa is as frustrated by Hawks’ personality as one would expect, but... fails to be the one to chase him away when he tires of his company. He’s so desperate to be trusted again that he falls for Hawks’ pretend friendliness.
In the end, Mic is always the one to take notice when Yabuzawa’s mood has hit a certain floor, and it’s then that Hawks gets ejected out of the apartment. And, when things hit the fan with the chaos that is soon to come, Hawks is one of the loudest voices in encouraging Yabuzawa’s participation on the side of the heroes where many others aren’t willing to accept him.

How they react to seeing reader cry.

He absolutely CANNOT afford to have you shedding tears and not solve whatever problem you have immediately.
Whenever he sees those tears running down your cheeks he lovingly lifts up your chin with his fingers, wiping them away with his thumb before pressing a few kisses to your lips. “What’s the matter?”, he asks, his eyebrows furrowing in concern. He really hates seeing you like this.
And he has many times before and will always be ready to fight the other gods for you. (Even though I genuinely don’t know what kind of mess you’re getting into to be stirring up gods and stuff) But since he is a god, which you don’t like to take advantage of, you try to keep things to yourself to not feel bad about the extra leg and a half you have in life. Since he loves you so much though, he will get to the bottom of this issue himself if it really comes down to it. If you’re struggling at work, with a project, family and friends or you’re not feeling well in general, he’s sure to immediately attend to those issues. But that’s only after he cuddles you to pieces.
He does show major signs of being clingy, so when your feeling upset he’s wrapped around you all day like a sweater, until he’s convinced that you’re well enough for him to leave you on your own and go sort out those issues. He’s like a personal hero. A very clingy one.
🩷Uchiha Itachi 🩷
Tumblr media
He’s not as clingy as Buddha is, but when he does see you feeling upset enough to start crying, he will baby you to death. He turns into a koala and will literally wrap his arms around you and never let go. Not until he’s 100% certain you’re okay. And even then, he might spend some time being extra close to you just to make himself feel better.
He’s very susceptible to depression and when he sees you crying, it triggers a deep somberness inside of him that he can’t explain, and he starts overthinking, growing terribly paranoid about you getting hurt or being in any other kind of situation that would make you cry. He doesn’t tears, nor does he like the sound of crying, especially coming from you. So now you experience a season of clingy, overprotective, extra soft Itachi.
Even if you’re only upset in the moment and soon recover and get over whatever mad you cry, he still can’t help but linger around you for a week or two, taking many days off of work or finishing earlier than usual. He bathes with you, cooks each of your meals throughout the day, helps you get ready for bed and tucks you in at night. He will even treat you to a story while scratching your back before bed, and holds you tighter than usual, throughout the entire night.
You know he has some kind of a problem since his behavior is definitely not normal, but if it helps him in any way, you’ll always allow him to treat you like and you also try to reciprocate the treatment to help him snap out of it sooner rather than later.
🩷Orochimaru 🩷
Tumblr media
He’s usually the reason as to why you cry to begin with, which at first, he pretends he doesn’t care, immediately turning around to walk away from you so he doesn’t have to watch you break down. But over time, he does take an interest in your feelings. He just feels guilty sometimes and doesn’t know how to approach you.
He knows you love to cuddle though, so he will try to use that during times like this and invite you to come and spend time with him while he works. He’ll rub your back and hold you close to him as he walks around his home and might even suggest going for walks around the large base hand in hand. He went as far as nurturing a garden with his own hands for you two to walk through whenever he upset you like this.
He doesn’t make you cry on purpose. It’s never his intention to begin with, but it happens and when it does, he kind of hates himself for a while. But he’ll never mention it and hides his guilt quite well. He loves it when you lay on his chest sometimes and he can rub your back, and slowly feel you begin to calm down.
Sometimes the poor man gets so frustrated over the sight of tears flooding your eyes, he’ll gently smoosh you into his chest and wrap his arms around you and just hold you, petting your head and rubbing your back while he tries to hush you. It’s only when it gets to this point that he’ll mumble and apology while he’s hugging you. He doesn’t mind standing with you like this until you finally calm down.
🩷Geto Suguru 🩷
Tumblr media
He sees you crying and you’re surprised to see a warm smile plastered on his face. “Oh babe, it’s okay”, he chuckles, pulling you close against him to hug you. He’s so good at making the situation seem less dire than it actually is and prefers to distract you from your problems than talk about them.
He will address whatever cause those tears to begin with at later stage, but tries to focus on getting you passed your balling. Sometimes he’ll pick you up and rub your back while you wrap your limps around him and cry into his shoulder. He coos at you and baby talks you while he rocks you in his arms.
After endless kisses against your forehead while he cradles you in his arms, the moment he feels like your breakdown is over, he’ll tickle you. He tickles you until you’re breathless with laughter and have long forgotten to cry. You can only run away from him, and you try your best to wriggle out of his hold, and then he’s after you and the chase builds up adrenaline inside of you that totally distracts you from whatever made you cry.
You end up having to play fight him until there’s a winner, which he freely gives over to you. Once’s it’s been established that you’ve won, he’ll reward you with taking you out to your favorite place and doesn’t mind stopping to get some popsicles with you. He’s a total sucker for you when he tries to make you feel better and will even let you ride his dragon with him, the two of you flying over the nearby ocean, laying on your backs ontop of rainbow dragon, enjoying the wind brushing against your skin while you suck on your popsicle.
It’s during peaceful moments like this that he’ll finally ask you why you were so upset and now you can tell him without feeling too depressed about it.
🩷 Kisame 🩷
Tumblr media
He’s not good with tears. He doesn’t know what to do whenever you cry and will quietly separate himself from you when he sees you getting emotional. It’s never with negative intentions, it’s just very awkward for him. What does he say? What should he do? He’s never really seen an example of how to approach the situation.
I mean at least he understands that you’re clearly having a hard time, so he will try and get as many chores out of the way as possible and will work extra hard to ensure that you don’t have to do a single thing around the house. He does grow very quiet though and won’t say much when he does find himself within your vicinity.
If you ask him to shower with you or do anything for you, he will of course. And he heavily relies on instruction during this time or else he’ll just excuse himself. If you’re having an episode and he notices you’re crying almost everyday, he becomes a bit scarce and when he’s away from you he’s constantly stressed out. He really doesn’t know what to do. He’ll humbly ask another member of the org for advice when it gets that bad, and will only come home at night to tidy up the entire house to make sure you’re chore-less the next day.
It’s only when you vent to him with tears in your eyes about why he’s avoiding you does the thought come to him like a lightbulb that he should probably spend more time holding you. He’s trying his best though I mean his traumatizing past is all he got sometimes. But he kind of likes it when you cling to him and your crying goes from making him nervous, to making him feel needed and protective.

Hi, how do you know Jackie Chan is a part of LOCH? I’ve been trying to find as much info on this film as possible and I never came across anything mentioning Jackie Chan. Also this film is already a big budget film, which is also the reason why I feel Tsui Hark chose Xiao Zhan specifically because he’s number one in popularity and with immense popularity he comes with good acting so it was a win-win but although I want this film to be released internationally really badly especially my country, I still fear being disappointed. Would they really invest in an international release? and is there a way if fans could get their messages across to them asking for an international release? because i will honestly cry if xiao zhan’s first movie (during my time as his fan) is released and i as a die hard fan can’t even watch it on big screen!!
This is in reference to a previous post.
The full cast has not been officially announced yet, but it was all over the media at the time of GG was announced as Guo Jing. You can find articles mentioning it just by Googling. There were several big name actors mentioned in smaller supporting roles, and it actually caused a bit of controversy at the time among netizens (who, of course, always stress out over who can do justice to their favorite literary heroes).
Feng Shaofeng - Genghis Khan
Hui Yinghong - Li Ping
Jackie Chan - Hong Qigong
Official accounts haven't confirmed (or denied) these widespread rumors, but we will likely know a lot more soon. The film is slated to be released for Spring Festival, which is the second weekend in February. No doubt there will be some promotional materials, etc. coming out in the next couple of months.
As for whether it will be released abroad - I honestly don't get why fans are always hand-wringing over whether their films will be released internationally. I find that confusing as heck.
It is safe to assume that pretty much all of their movies will be released to international audiences. It would be odd for them not to appear outside China.
Keep in mind that - alongside non-Chinese speaking international audiences who take an interest in international films - there is a huge population of Chinese people living all over the world. In my region, for example, 20% of the population are Chinese Canadians. There is a demand outside of China, for Chinese films.
Legend of the Condor Heroes is one of the most popular novels in China, and is appreciated all over the world. It's an outstanding book. I urge everyone to read it (or enjoy the audiobook). I can't overstate how good it is.
GG is also very popular, and his international fame is growing. Films stand to make more money the more screens they're seen on. It's simple math.
This film WILL be seen outside of China. Any agonizing over whether it will is a waste of one's mental health. It's going to be a big release. It will be seen far and wide. It's will probably make a lot of money. It's got a good formula, a good director, etc.
And even if it doesn't come to some countries - as with all of their projects - it will eventually end up on streaming services. You will get a chance to see it.
Edit: as I said in the comments of this post, there will always be some countries where there really won't be legal options for viewing. That's just the unfortunate reality of the situation. In those cases, there is no shame in watching a pirated version. I feel that it is better to watch their projects, thereby being able to write a review and promote the project to other people, etc. than to not watch them at all.
As long as we are supporting the film financially if there is any option to do so at all. There have been people who have bought tickets for their films in regions that they are unable to travel to, just to support the film. People can also buy tickets for other fans who cannot otherwise afford to go.
There are also often official merchandise and things like that which can be purchased from anywhere in the world.
You can also contact your favorite local streaming services and request for those projects to be made available to you. The more fans who express an interest in their films, the more likelihood a streaming service will make an effort to obtain rights.
There is no guarantee, of course, but it's worth a try. I also encourage people to be patient, because it can take a while for a movie to make it onto streaming platforms. Just because it is available in some regions and not others doesn't mean it won't eventually make it on to yours.
As long as we are supporting to the best of our ability, that's all that anyone can do.

Hi,
Do you have any advice on how to build Fee? I like her a lot, and I tried to bs a build with what I had lying around but it's far from ideal... I can't really afford to pull Marth (the new Lyon is taking all my orbs how foul), but I'm grinding codices to give her vital astra, probably? I sometimes run her with regular astra instead of galeforce
Last time I tried to properly read what skills do in heroes was years ago and the wall of text genuinely hurt my eyes, so I'd really appreciate the help!
Thanks in advance
Tumblr media
hello ! thank you for your ask
i'd like to let you know that vital astra is only inheritable by /infantry/ axe lance and sword units.
Tumblr media
here is a pretty premium build but i will give some other options for skills
the +atk iv isn't so important to bother using trait fruit for it
arcane devourer is infinitely better for her than arcane eljudnir but it is not the end of the world if you cannot get it. eljudnir is good enough for the cooldown acceleration alone
please refer to this post for a more in depth explanation of the difference between the two arcane swords : )
no quarter as a special is the definitive best choice for any melee unit that 1) cannot access damage reduction pierce (i.e. flier/cav without dr pierce in prf weapon) and 2) is not running a gambit build
it is however extremely contested fodder and incredibly hard to acquire currently due to it being locked to winter dimitri. iceberg is a good option in the meantime as well as moonbow, glimmer, and ruptured sky (scores high in arena).
i cannot recommend running galeforce on her without arcane devourer's special charges as she will have an extremely difficult time having more atk than her opponent to get the extra cooldown charges from heavy blade 4. this mostly locks her options for extra special charges to legendary hinoka. as a flier she is unable to get the effects of infantry pulse or run a skill like flash sparrow (outspeeding would be far easier for her) or atk spd pledge or a tempo skill. this makes it extremely difficult to precharge her galeforce without the usage of like . velouria or askr combined with the quickened pulse sacred seal.
atk/spd unity allows her to boost her most important stats in both enemy phase and player phase as well as turning debuffs into buffs. this can be stacked with legendary robin's grand strategy effect. you can inherit atk/spd unity from a few units but i would recommend inheriting from rearmed tana as you can get guidance 4 at the same time (probably a better option than rein snap for her c slot).
atk/spd unity is also available on attuned peony (allowing you to inherit atk oath echo attuned skill), fallen maria who is in the standard pool, and on some other limited units.
a cheaper option for her a slot would be atk/spd catch as it is available in the divine codes.
Tumblr media
atk/spd catch 4 is available on the summer dimitri combat manual in divine codes 4.
guard bearing 4 is fee's best damage reduction b slot option as it doesn't rely on a difference in stats and it allows her to run low cd specials. guard bearing 4 is unfortunately locked to rearmed ingrid (arguably a waste of her fodder due to just how Good arcane luin is) and nabata juno, neither of which are in the standard pool.
until you can acquire guard bearing 4 feel free to stick with flow feather 3.
fliers have a lot of c slot skills they can run currently and her best options are guidance 4, soaring guidance, and s/d rein snap (not in any particular order). the guidance skills allow for warping for allies and s/d rein snap both debuffs foe's spd and defense and combat and grants +1 movement to some allies.
other options she can run in her c slot are: pretty much any tier 4 smoke skill (i.e panic smoke or fatal smoke), def/res or atk/spd ploy (ONLY WITH STILL WATER SACRED SEAL), and atk/spd oath 4 (available in divine codes.
Tumblr media
atk/spd oath 4 can be inherited from the m!shez combat manual in divine codes 4.
she should run either distant counter sacred seal or atk/spd catch if on the same team as a far save armor. still water 3 should only be used with ploy and it will hurt her already middling defense.
hope this helps !

(Warning, sleepy rant incoming, proceed at your own risk)
Is it just me me or does wtc just have an allergy to dismantling structural evil. It goes "wow it sucks" but like a lot of stories it never gives a conclusion. Higurashi with how shion is presented as selfish for not "taking responsibility" instead of admitting the family is evil and that their structures of power need to be torn down, instead blaming everything on a secret operation by takano. Like, can't we just accept that the town is a bit fucked up instead of it being some outsider's fault? And accepting the town is fucked doesnt mean ignoring how the goverment fucked over the town, u know?
Without love it cannot be see? Well you can love something and know that it needs to be put down
Umineko to a lesser extent, by sheer virtue of the Ushiromias being blown asunder- but I am still salty about the lion timeline. Like yes we are shown the servants suffering and told to sympathise but there is no conclusion for the servants- only the family, which I guess makes since since the story focuses on the family but it still bothers me. I don't like how the relatives of the kumasawa are portrayed, it reminded me of this one sherlock story we had to read for lit where sherlock says that the poor are gossips and good only for the information they may give. Its more complicated than that but you get the point, they are not afforded the same dignity.
Ciconia is still up in the air cause maybe the narrator is unreliable, or maybe ryukishi is being a centrist, I don't know.
That doesn't mean I dislike wtc... okay I dislike higurashi but that's mostly for other reasons and I still adore rena- but I love umineko and I'm fascinated by it structurally- but I feel like I have to say this to someone or I'll explode
It's not like this problem is unique to wtc, the "return to norm" is the ending to heroes journey in writing, a structural tool that is very widespread and is very easily utilised for centrist storywriting, and I'd go as far as saying the heroes journey is inheritly centrist but I'm too sleep deprived and under qualified to make that argument
(For clarification I'm not saying wtc uses the heroes journey as a basis I'm just saying stories with a centrist basis are common because stories that use the heroes journey are common)
None of this is even probably intentional, but isn't that worse? That centrist thinking is this deeply embedded into the worlds cultural subconscious?
Sorry for the incomprehensible rant, I need to sleep
Okay,
So I don't agree that everything is blamed on Takano. The way the town treated Satoko was very much on them and I believe we were shown how everyone was ridiculous and stuck up on a "We can't be normal to this family because the village is against them therefore I should be against them" mentality and Oryo stubbornness on this. Takano's actions were what they were but she didn't make the locals bully a little girl. I believe we were also shown this during the violent argument Keiichi had with Mion and Rena when they were asking each other what to do with Satoko. Keiichi started blaming Mion for not taking her in, then Rena showed his hypocrisy because he is also pretty well off... and you know whats sad about that : they're all kids fighting about how to save an abused little girl because they're almost all neglected to some point and they can't reach out. Can't really see a better proof that their respective families and the village itself are dysfunctional beside how Takano's plan interacted with it.
And yeah for Umineko the servants were pretty neglected at the end, as you said its because it mostly focuses on the family itself but I get this criticism. I can't say anything about Ciconia, haven't read it. But I also don't think its inherently a return to normal, a lot of them seem to find piece but i'd argue they not unharmed. I think a lot of it is trying to say you have been hurt and still find some kind of balance, which, considering Ryukishi's background I get why he would rather go that route even if it can completely be criticized (I sometimes have some point i'm a bit "meh" about when handling abuse and forgiveness but whatever). I'm not a literary professional tho lol, what do I know about all of that.

The info we have on Aegon's rule is fairly limited even in Fire&Blood. We don't know exactly what he knew&how he interpreted it. But isn't that kind of the point of prophecy in asoiaf, it's about how you interpret it&then take actions based on that interpretation. Presumably he thought uniting Westeros was a good first step, someone else would do it differently, actions=consequences, others get involved & interpret things> butterfly effect..300 years later here we are.
One possible explaination for Aegon is that he did prepare but it amount to nothing because his descendants did not follow through. Maybe Aenys failed to tell Jaehaerys who stopped his funding the Watch, Baelor the Blessed burned his arcane library and the maesters dismissed his warnings as just propaganda to justify his conquest so Gyldayn and Yandel don't ever bother to mention his efforts to prepare in Fire and Blood and The World of Ice and Fire.
Taking both these questions together because they touch on the same issue.
Conquering Westeros is not what I'm saying is making Aegon look foolish. If there is a doom coming from the north, having a united Westerosi kingdom makes sense - a unified kingdom can muster much larger forces against any threat and exhibit greater unity in command than a fractious lot of petty kingdoms. While the prince that was promised and Azor Ahai reborn are not necessarily the same person or the same prophecy (Melisandre uses them interchangeably but not everyone), most of these prophecies do not have the destined one alone. The Last Hero of the First Men had his companions, Azor Ahai is always depicted as a general, leading the virtuous into battle. So having a large kingdom's resources behind this prophesized savior makes sense.
What makes Aegon look foolish is that he is making moves on this prophecy but not following up on it. The Night's Watch is the first obstacle anything that marches from beyond the North will face after the wildlings, so why is Aegon not doing what he can to strengthen the Night's Watch? The Watch declines precipitously between Aegon and Jaehaerys's reign. When the doom does not come and Aegon continues to age, why is not taking further steps to strengthen Westeros against the apocalypse? He has the time to do so, and not acting on it makes him look completely foolish.
Similarly, he's not really preparing his heirs. If the kingdom was founded in order to establish the resources needed to prevent the Others from attacking again, you cannot afford to not your heirs that will inherit the kingdom after you to be lax in their duties. When Aenys is faced with problems, he soils himself, freaks out, and does nothing - that's not the sort of leadership we can have happen when genocide is at the door. We can reasonably predict that some manner of institutional inertia and rot would set in over decades or centuries when life goes on and this prophecy continues to not happen, but Aegon I is still in charge here - he's the one who went west in the first place! Aenys and Maegor offer no indication of understanding of any of this (Jaehaerys wouldn't have received instruction from Aegon, he's a toddler when Aegon dies). So now it looks like he goes west, establishes the Seven Kingdoms, and just says "Meh, good enough." This is a prophecy about the actual apocalypse, and it was taken seriously enough for Aegon to attempt to conquer an entire continent - why the sudden lack of follow-through?
Contrarily, if he didn't know enough about the prophecy, then why is he not trying to find out more about it? He should be commissioning studies, delving into libraries trying to discover more information so he can better prepare...but he's not. Again, it's more like he puts his feet up and says he's done enough.
Don't even get me started on how this valuable information is supposedly lost. Did he not write anything down in his private journals? Commission scribes to make copies? Instruct various people in his household why he was doing what he was doing? Again, this is a prophecy about the apocalypse, why would information not be better protected?
So yeah, all in all, it just makes Aegon and any other Targaryen who knew about this just look like idiots, hence why I don't like it. It feels like a "this would be neat" retcon.
Thanks for the question, Anon.

Okay, but like, the Spider has got to be terrifying (especially since we're going all subtle body horror on him).
Say, you live in the noir 1930s, just trying to get by, trying to stay off the mobsters' radars, trying to keep a low profile and keep your home and make sure you have enough to eat - it's not really a good life, but hey, at least your home hasn't burned down yet.
And then all of a sudden there's this new guy everyone's talking about, and no one knows who it is. He just shows up one day, and he fights criminals, and that's good, right? It's overdue. The police isn't doing it.
But then you see him, and he's shooting webs from his wrists and he sticks to walls and he moves - he moves like he isn't human. And you realize that it could be anyone - anything - under that mask, and you realize that you don't actually know his motives.
He's everywhere. He's both judge and executioner. You know he's not with the criminals - but he's not with the police or FBI or any law, either. He can't be held accountable. What if he decides to go after someone else, too? What if he thinks you're "guilty" in whatever way he uses to judge? You can't tell.
You don't actually know about his motives. You don't actually know who he is. You don't actually know what he is.
You go about your day, you keep living as usual, you can't afford even more worries, but maybe you cast half a glance upwards at times, just to make sure there's no hero or monster or whatever he is waiting for you.
Say, you're a criminal in the noir 1930s - maybe you joined because you get better money here than any other job. Maybe you read the newspaper one day, and you've been relatively safe so far except for the occasional fight, but now there's this unknown thing killing people like you without second thought, without consequences, without anything to stop it.
The Spider is called that for a reason - you know it's not human, not really. And you know that in a fight, you'll end up the loser. You don't have any special abilities outside of throwing a punch or throwing lead. If it ever shows up to one of your operations, you're as good as dead.
And even if not - you can't count on the law to turn a blind eye anymore. You were never important enough that any of your bosses cared about you, but the police are so deeply in their pockets that they never look your way at all. But this new "vigilante" doesn't care about that. He can't be bribed. He can't be contained. You're not sure he can be killed.
Many of your - let's say coworkers - try to change careers. It's not always an option, many bosses are less than happy with that, and you know you won't get another job and you have bills to pay, but every time you step outside, whether on the job or not, you cast a fearful look around as if you could escape those spider webs, those bullets.
You know that if (when?) the Spider decides to go after you, you won't see it coming.
Say, you're a government agent in the noir 1930s, and you're trying to do your job, trying to go after criminals even while they're protected by this broken and corrupt law system, and then you hear about the Spider.
And at first, maybe, it seems like a good thing. There's someone whose hands aren't tied by corrupt officers and a government that cares more about its looks than actual justice, there's someone actually putting a den in the crime scene.
But after a while you realise that you don't actually know whom he stands with, what he fights for. He's not a human like you. He's not bound by any rules like you. He shows no fear or respect to either mobsters or police - and who knows if he'll ever decide to turn on you?
At the moment it seems like you have the same goald, like you're fighting for the same thing, even if you officially cannot express that ever. But for how long?
Every day there's the chance you'll wake up, you'll go out, and you'll find yourself on the business end of that gun.
That is to say, no one can actually trust the Spider. He's an unknown variable. He seems to have a goal in mind, but you can never know what it is. He seems to be mostly human, but only mostly. Even if you think somewhat positively of him, there's no guarantee he'll think the same of you.
There's always been unequal powers, fighting for the city. There's always been uncertainty and the very real threat of death. But suddenly all of that is in one person - one person, who took out the Goblin and his goons all by himself.
And that's pretty fucking terrifying.

I no longer forgive Type-Moon on Tumblr
You wanna talk shit about me, I will respond. Regardless of being blocked or not.
A character being more than initial appearances and having more to them than just being an asshole is not “bad writing.” Merlin *is* a sleazy douchebag that people barely tolerate, but he also has a heart underneath it all. That’s called showing and not just telling.
Except that no one ever acknowledges that heart, instead they just treat him as a dick. They keep showing one thing but say another, that's my fucking problem here.
But here’s the thing: The fact that Merlin feels guilty about his past actions does not automatically make him a good person, and so by extension Proto Merlin not showing guilt does not make her a bad person. They are both trickster type characters who cannot always be trusted, who’ve both caused their share of good and bad in Camelot and both are handling it differently. But a lot of fans seemed to jump to conclusions that because Protolin isn’t secretly stricken with Catholic Guilt she must be “evil,” which I think is pretty unfair.
But it...kind of does. It shows that he understands that what he did was bad and even the OP admits that his motivation for being trapped in Avalon is in part because he's punishing himself for interferring in Arturia's life. And even then, considering that the World literally could not afford any other outcome besides the one Merlin helped cause- I actually have to question if it was even amoral in the first place.
And while this would normally lead me to say Proto Merlin is the one who is badly written- She's actually the one where people's treatment of her makes the most sense. She's actually the nominal hero that the writing keeps trying to say Merlin is. So...The original kind of has to be badly written. As paradoxical as it sounds.
I admit though that I don’t know a lot about Protolin and haven’t read Fragments, so I’m trying my best to hold off judgement. I don’t expect or want her to be an exact clone of Merlin, because that would be kind of boring and superfluous. FGO kind of dropped the ball on her by making her a Pretender and then not giving a good reason beyond “Oh she’s pretending to be Merlin’s sister!” but they do set up hints that there’s more to it than that. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of her there.
And yet you're about to do said judgements in the tags. So much for that eh?
At no point did I say that I wanted her to be a copy of mainline Merlin. If anything, it would make more sense to infer that I would want the original to be more like Proto. That's stupid but it at least follows some kind of logic from what I said.
#merlin: *is given more characterization than just being a shady asshole everyone hates*#kob: this is bad writing!#''i like mainline merlin'' you sure don't sound likeit
Really? What part of what I said indicates this? In fact, the point of my reblog is that Merlin DOESN'T have that characterization of being a shady asshole despite the writing repeatedly claiming that it does. That Merlin's negative qualities are either so downplayed they barely exist or that they straight up aren't shown. He's not a shady asshole- he's just a goofball. No matter how much the writing tries to scream that at me.
But that's probably too many words for you so let me simplify it in a way I know you understand-
Just because Merlin is likeable doesn't make him well written.
Just because Proto Merlin is unlikeable doesn't make her badly written.
Not like my opinion on a character in FGO has changed *cough* Morgan *cough*.
P.S. And-...
.....Wait.
...Oh. It's you.
Hi Celtic, still salty that I called out your bullshit eh?

I love your analyses, they're like good food. Especially the one about vriska and gamzee's parallels, because it makes so much sense and it's SO obvious once you compare them, but also so easy to miss because hussie never went anywhere with it. ALSO the fact that gamzee subtly controls the meteor trip before the retcon (very passively, but clearly in control and manipulating in the background) whereas when vriska is brought back she steals that role right out of his hands (we even see a sequence with him trying to explain to kurloz that vriska took control, or something along those lines) it's like they're two sides to the same coin, one always losing if the other one wins (also interesting to consider gamzee representing lord English too, with the whole vriska vs fate thing.) Which brings me to terezi as well bc terezi and vriska are obviously the ones that have the most coin imagery, but it's interesting to note that while terezi THINKS she wants to be the one to oppose vriska, what she ACTUALLY wants is to be on the same side (and weren't they all along, anyway?) I also like how you can contextualize a lot of things with this framework too, with the ppl associated with vriska being those who are usually heroes or want to be heroes (terezi, John, tavros) and the ppl associated with gamzee being those who don't consider themselves heroes or fail at it in some way or another (dirk, equius, karkat.) Which also brings me to the idea of light vs rage, or certainty/clarity/luck vs doubt/chaos/pessimism. Both aspects seem to intersect at what they believe to be 'truth' which is interesting considering gamzee and vriska are both very fixated on their goals/idea of how things should be, and to them anyone who doubts that is weak and needs to be 'fixed' (tavros, terezi.) This was mostly me rambling, but I guess if I were to have a request it would be what you think about the Light vs Rage thing, especially in the context of the story. Rage seems to be the hidden enemy that nobody realizes is the true enemy at first (which is why nobody realizes that hope is the true hero all along against lord english) and light seems to be the force that dictates whether or not people notice these things at all before it's too late? But idk, that's just off the top of my dome. I would love to hear your thoughts on it!
hi, sorry to say this but i think you have the wrong person??? the gamzee-vriska post is by @hemoanarchists i just reblogged it from my own blog after finally getting around to reading it, oops
if you still want my two cents on the light-rage topic anyways, i honestly hadn't thought about it until now but yeah actually that does make sense. narratively it seems like light and rage are more viscerally opposite to each other than even light and void- light and void work in concert with each other in the context of how homestuck's storytelling functions, where pockets of information are hidden from us at all times to be backfilled as the story demands and that is part of how the story advances itself in a coherent way.
but rage and all its associations seem to be more about the absurd, that which inherently repels light and meaning and fills in for it, eg how in the hussie-caliborn conversations hussie states he really has no idea of what gamzee's deal is. gamzee is not godtier and yet he is inmortal, and while this is later backfilled to be basically plot armor because he needs to be alive at the point of the big melding of components for lord english's creation, at the moment the actual reason gamzee cannot die is Rule Of Funny. he is a force of the absurd and yet is used as a tool for filling in the needs of the story in a way that vriska fights tooth and nail to loudly claim for herself and yet never fully grasps. vriska, like gamzee, always exists tangentially to the main cast and never by her own merits, but unlike gamzee, she constantly tries to worm herself into the main story, affording her constant presence in the narrative so long as she keeps deliberately fucking with it; meanwhile gamzee is carried throughout the story and given increasing plot relevance purely due to how absurd and funny it is for him of all people to be central to the entire plot of homestuck

For some reason it's hard to believe that you would like to meet person... a traveler, who cannot even afford a room in hotel more that few nights. One said wise thing, the more you have, the more difficult it is to leave it behind and move again. Invested hard work of past year into equipment for photo & video production, today it feels heavy to sell it and move again, didn't even try it well. However, why is this so? It gives me zero income, leaves behind saturated completion and isn't promising any success. But one this that holds me here, I have fun doing this even for free. I really enjoy the journey, trying something new and unavailable before. And even more I grown in this, more I feel like this is exactly what I love to do for a living, beside traveling and helping other.
Afterwards I look at the opportunity to meet you, dear Seung-Yeon, and I wish to be there so much, but also a thought that I could never again have opportunity to challenge myself in this journey of videographer holds me back. Because I couldn't come to you like a successful person in common terms for the most, but only like a traveler. And wouldn't you be ashamed to meet a traveler?
You know dear, for me is very difficult to count on people, because our natural instinct in changing situation is to protect ourselves, our businesses, houses, kids etc... But the most yourself. Maybe, I've seen very little love, but hard to remember a woman that would like to give up for me at least something. Never met a person who would like to stand for me in times of trouble (maybe my memory is way too short). Perhaps this is why I made conclusion that woman won't do much for her man. For kids, for family, for parents, for things she loves, but for her man... Well, can't remember. This is what holds me the most. Hard to believe if something unexpected will happen you will have courage to stay. Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe you are the first person who will dispel this myth I faced so many times.
This is why I don't what to put you before such a choice between me and something else you love. I'd rather work hard to comfort your heart than challenge it.
Also, at another hand I'm willing to give up even this dream of being together, just for a chance to meet you. Even if this will be one glance, one step before the only one smile I could ever face. Thus, I'm still yet battling in my heart to don't lose this chance.
There is no clear answer. Yet my prayers lift up to heaven with divine assurance that Jesus will take care about us. He is my super hero who helps me out at any circumstances. And this gives me confidence for whatever I will choose, He won't give up on me, and so I hope you, my beloved flower Seung-Yeon.
Never forget that day in Hong-Kong, that look of someone precious for heart, leaving without even a chance to say "hello". Perhaps, it still yet hurts, but does that matter? She wasn't the first who did so, but the first for whom I have risked it all. Afterall such a mysterious question, many fall in love with me willing to be, but no one ever dared to stay. What a mystery! That's why I never chose even one.
And the most of all I'm afraid to have such a memory about you. You're much precious to my heart and I cherish each moment with you, my beloved angel.
So I pray, maybe you will be the one, who will stay.

Day One
There is a temptation to have a New Year's Resolution even though I know they do not work. People all around me still believe that there is something magical about January 1st. Their optimism is almost contagious. However, no matter how well-intentioned, they will almost all fail. I suppose one could argue that it's the "trying" that matters. In some things, I imagine that is the case.
The truth is, it doesn't matter. All the hope we have for the new year is empty unless we come together to change things. We have been convinced that we must "go it alone" and “be the hero of our own story.” That lie is what ultimately fails us all. We are not meant to live so apart from others. We are supposed to live in community, to be a true support for one another. One might point to their religion, and I would counter with, "lose all you have and become homeless." You find out very quickly, at least in the US, that religion is not real community. (BTDT.)
Likewise, the state will not help us. Our rulers are beholden to their billionaire benefactors. Hoping they will do something to help us is vain hope. The short time they were of any use to us is over, and it's obviously never coming back. We have no choice but to save each other.
I know what it looks like. We all do. In fact, it was just in the news out of Buffalo. People came together to help each other survive, doing simple things like bringing people into their homes or small businesses and keeping them warm and fed. Craig Elston, Merry Christmas Jay, and, very significantly, Sha'Kyra Aughtry. What an amazing story of care and compassion. Capitalism cannot do any of those things. But we can.
I do not know how to bring it about, however. I do not know how to convince us to join together and help one another. I have conversations with other people in dire straits, and I leave it open; I hint heavily, and many times, I just outright say it. But no one does it. Is it because it is too much for us to imagine? Or is the fear of the other that we've been raised with so large that we cannot cross that line?
I wish I had a solution. I wish I could find enough like-minded people. Whenever I read in the news about a family who has had to flee Texas because of their anti-trans laws, I think it would be keen if I could help those who can't reasonably afford to get to Cali (where trans care is your right). We could get a big old house and we’d be able to afford rent together. Then we'd have shelter. The rest is easy after that. Really, it is that simple. I've been doing this for a while, and a permanent place to live is the one thing no one wants to help you with. They'll give you clothes, provide you off-brand canned goods, and even money for petrol for your car, but they will absolutely not give you a place to live. A place to live is where getting on your feet starts. It’s difficult to focus on a job or your mental health and addiction problems when you have to worry about where you will sleep tonight.
But there aren't enough people who can see past whatever "it" is that stands in their way. And there aren't enough people who have the means to help us combined with the will to do so. Instead, it is a NIMBY fight, even, and especially, in liberal neighborhoods. They prefer to gentrify a city rather than help its residents. They'd rather step over the homeless people outside their gated community than demand the city/state/fed governments help the people.
And that is where I will leave it. Because I have no solutions that anyone with any modicum of privilege is willing to assist. My only hope is that I make people uncomfortable when they read this and that the next time this issue is raised locally, they will finally take a stand for those in need.

How Much Movies Influenced Your Fascination with Muscle Cars?
There is no denying that muscle cars have a certain appeal, attraction and pulling power. They are fast, powerful and portrayed as the symbol of style and manliness in many movies. Many of us know very little about their engine, production, running costs and maintenance but still want to own or drive one like our heroes on the screen.
Once a fascination sets in, it is hard to get over it and everything comes back flooding in when you see one of these beautiful automobiles, even on the screen. Perhaps, we cannot get our hands easily on a 1968 Ford Mustang or drive it like Steve McQueen. We may not look as cool as Starsky and Hutch on a 1975 Ford Gran Torino. But we still dream to take a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am on a cross state run like the Bandit.
Luckily, cars like the Ford Mustang are still in production and come with all the modern fittings. Also, they are not really that expensive to buy, even though you may have to pay a bit more for gas and you would definitely not be able to get inexpensive car insurance for it. You may actually delay your purchase if you are still young or have a bad driving history because of the age restrictions imposed by many vehicle insurance companies or prohibitive costs.
You can own a Ford Mustang under $30,000, which is not more than a typical sedan would cost. Of course, after watching many vintage auto restoration programs on Netflix you would love to get your hands on one of the rusty Corvettes and do it up like they do. But most of us neither have the skills or budget for it. For now, we enjoy watching the greasy hands on TV to live the dream for us.
You cannot help but think that maybe some of the movies were inspirational for today’s cars. For years we watched KITT taking over the driving and doing all sorts of stunts. Also, it was a smart car that can even talk and make jokes. It isn’t so far-fetched any more as there are self-driving automobiles on the roads. It is only a matter of time before they start thinking for themselves, talking back and even coming up with a funny joke.
KITT was a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am that looks out of this world even today. The good news is that you can now own cars that are as powerful and filled with all sorts of gadgets. You should still hold on to the steering wheel but you can enjoy other features. They are getting more and more affordable as there are standard versions to suit most budgets along with the fancier ones.
Actually, there are even electric muscle cars in the market today. So, there is no reason to hold back and get on one. Even if you are as environmentally conscious as Leonardo DiCaprio you don’t have to drive a Toyota Prius like him. There are many cooler cars like Ford Mustang Mach-E that give you everything without any of the guilts or gas costs.
For those of us who aren’t really ready to take the next step and buy a performance car, we can still enjoy driving them on holidays. There are many places in the US and other parts of the world where you could rent most cars you fancy and drive them with rental car insurance. Probably, not out of airport rentals but they are available if you want to quash your thirst. Again, you may still have to be over 25 to rent them. And you can only drive some of the sports cars on the racing tracks specially prepared for this purpose only. So, your fantasies may still come through.

I know the hobbit movies make a big deal about how angsty teen Legolas is and completely screwed his relationship with his dad Thranduil. But whenever I read the Lord of the Rings I cannot help but think: my goodness, but Thranduil must have really spoiled Legolas rotten.
We first meet Legolas at the Council of Elrond. He is dressed simply and for light travel, and does not choose to wear his title as a Prince, instead identifying himself as a messenger from Thranduil, his king. Indeed he often chooses to call Thranduil his king rather than his father, which many have taken as a sign that relations between the two are strained.
However, I propose the direct opposite - that his many mentions of Thranduil as his Elven-Lord demonstrates not only his love for Thranduil, but also his respect and admiration of what a great king his father is for his people.
Consider this: whenever he mentions Thranduil or Mirkwood it is always with warmth and a subtle longing. He doesn't ever speak of his home in anything other than good terms, even if it has been marred and fallen into becoming Mirkwood (as opposed to Greenwood the Great).
And it isn't just to maintain pride in front of outsiders. When you contrast the way Boromir speaks of Gondor and his father the steward Denethor, to the way Legolas speaks of Mirkwood and Thranduil, it becomes clearer. Boromir is proud of his family, country and heritage and boasts of it. He claims Gondor is the main protector of Middle-earth, and that they have been fighting Mordor the hardest. But deep down he is questioning his father's rule, and is uncertain of Gondor's future.
Legolas is almost the opposite. He doesn't ever boast of his country, although Mirkwood, just like Gondor, is right at Mordor's doorstep. Instead he shares with the company personal anecdotes that show (not tell) exactly how good life is there despite the Shadow. He doesn't waver in his believe of his people's strength; indeed only he and Aragorn could face Galadriel without any fear or hesitation.
I think the reason why Legolas always mentions Thranduil as a king or lord is not because he doesn't want to acknowledge Thranduil is his father. It is that Legolas is so in awe of Thranduil and so respectful of him that whenever he is mentioned Legolas' first thought is not 'that's my dad and we're related', but instead is 'that's my king and my hero and he's so awesome'.
He doesn't consciously mention Thranduil as his father because his mind frame is not to introduce the company to Thranduil the way you would introduce your friends to your parents. He doesn't want them to think of him as just a nice uncle who is the father of a friend.
Legolas introduces Thranduil as his king because he wants the company to respect him as such, as the ruler of a great country who has done great deeds. He wants the company to see Thranduil as someone in-charge, as someone who is capable and should be given the proper courtesies accorded to him.
Some may question, in that case why doesn't Legolas call him 'my father the king'? It would highlight both Legolas' relationship to Thranduil as well as Thranduil's kingship.
I think this has to do with the circumstances as well as Legolas' humble personality. It is true that he doesn't ever make a big deal out of being prince, but at the same time this title means nothing much in the fellowship company. There is Aragorn, who would be king of Gondor. Boromir, eldest son of the ruling Steward of Gondor. Gimli, cousin of Balin who is the Lord of Moria. Gandalf, member of the Istari and councilor of many kingdoms. Peregrin, son of the Thain of Shire. Meriadoc, son of the Master of Buckland. Frodo, heir to Bilbo and a celebrity (of sorts) of the Shire.
Virtually everyone in the fellowship had a title (except Sam) and there is really no point in highlighting it among themselves when it doesn't matter. The only time where Legolas being Prince of Mirkwood would matter is when meeting other elves or when meeting allies of Mirkwood (like Dale for example). In which case in the former, Legolas being son of Thranduil is more than enough recognition for Elrond and Celeborn (as both of them were Sindar elves, and thus kin of Thranduil). And for the latter there wasn't any opportunity to do so.
Thus Legolas not mentioning the king is also his father is his way of downplaying his title as Prince, something which signifies his humility as well.
Finally, what makes me certain that Thranduil is a very caring father is Legolas' personality itself. Galadriel mentions that Legolas had always lived in joy, and this is very evident throughout the book.
In the entire journey, Legolas is shown to never despair. The only moment of fear was when he saw the Balrog (a famous elves bane) but otherwise he was also never fearful. This is despite the overwhelming circumstances the company finds themselves in. He always sees the bright side in every situation, frequently makes jokes and funny quips, and is in an overall joyful mood.
From the Hobbit, we learn that this cheerful outlook is shared by the Mirkwood elves, regardless of the growing Shadow. The only person who was affected at all was Thranduil himself, who was always wary of Mordor rising again. But he took careful pains to never affect his people, and they were always in good spirits despite the war that was happening.
I think Legolas was very well loved as a child, and always carefully sheltered. Not from the horrors and realities of war like death and destruction (because we can see he is a very capable warrior). No, he was instead sheltered from the despair and sorrow that would normally accompany death and destruction.
Legolas would see death and elves dying in battle, and Thranduil would tell him of the halls of Mandos and how death is just a path back to the Valar. He would look at the destruction of the woods and the land, and Thranduil would tell him it is like the passage of winter, but spring would come and the land would flourish again.
Legolas would have grown up knowing that even though bad things are happening, good things are still to come, and that's why he always has such hope in him and such joy. Unlike the mortal lives of Men and Dwarves, Elves are immortal and they can afford to wait for the end of the Shadow. There is no hurry, and because Mirkwood is untouched by any of the Rings, they don't need to worry about the power of the Three fading.
Legolas is happy and joyful because he is beloved, and I think that is a consequence of Thranduil's nurturing personality. It just makes much more sense when you compare him to the other characters who had lost both parents (Aragorn and Eomer), or had a stern and demanding father (Boromir and Faramir).
Legolas remains unchanged for the most part at the end of the journey because he was already in such a good place to start with. I think that is quite a comforting thought.

Okayyy so your thoughts on the scene where jude was drugged with the fae fruit in CP, please?
Because I still don’t forgive cardan for not doing anything to help her? Like she was drugged, humiliated and like kinda sexually assaulted?! And he participated?! I dunno I still kinda hate him for that but I really want to know your thoughts, maybe I missed something...
okay a couple things: first, i have absolutely no interest in starting discourse on this subject. if you agree with me, great! you're welcome on this post. if you don't, keep it pushin this is not the ask for you. second, these are fictional characters. they don't have real feelings but people on the other end of blogs do. be gentle with one another please.
CW: DISCUSSIONS OF ABUSE AND ASSAULT.
I. In Defence of Cardan- motives, intent, tragic past, blah blah blah
i'm not really in the business of defending villains because 1) they don't need to be saved (that's the great thing about them) and 2) it's not my job to make everyone like them. but Cardan is a special case where i feel, if you approach what he did with only the outcome in mind instead of an attempt at understanding all of the pieces at play, you're going to hate him.
so let's clear the air.
i think it's an overstatement to say that he participated. participation is an active word, whereas what Cardan did, i see as more of a passive involvement. did he stop what was happening? no.
but he did stop Valerian from suffocating Jude. he did intervene when Nicasia told her to crawl to them (he told Jude to kiss his foot, but that was likely to save her from being further assaulted while under the influence). he did prick her finger so that she could sober up enough to protect herself while being alone in the woods with Locke.
in other words: he de-escalated the situation, but only when things started getting too dicey.
does he get brownie points for this? hell no. he still has A Lot of work to do to earn ours and Jude's trust at that point.
but in my opinion, he reacted to the situation in the only way he could while maintaining two important things (to him): the status quo and his control of the outcome. the former is selfish, but then again Cardan never claimed to be selfless. the latter is noteworthy because Cardan knew that what Nicasia, Valerian, or Locke could do to Jude would be so much worse than a bit of embarrassment at his hand. they were willing to go further. he wasn't.
what's more, if you've read HTKOELTHS, you'll know that Cardan feels helpless for a lot of his life. only wine and cruelty help control those uncomfortable feelings. why would he sacrifice that security for someone he doesn't really know, who has also made it a point to be a constant "thorn of iron" in his side?
II. Cardan Is Like.... Not A Good Dude?
i've said this before on here but i guess i should say it louder for people in the back: Cardan is not a Good Person! this isn't a story about a hero defeating the villain and claiming her morally pure love interest. this is a story about, to put it bluntly, a bunch of fucked up people doing really fucked up things either because they feel they have to or because they want to. and yes! it's fucked up. that's the point.
so Cardan didn't stop what was happening in the faerie fruit scene, but if he's not a Good Person, why would he have reason to?
apart from the fact that humans are always treated poorly in faerie, Jude is Madoc's treasured daughter. Jude is a human afforded all the luxuries of one of the fae Gentry, all because someone loved her enough to give her that, not because she had any right or entitlement to it. i see a lot of jealousy from Cardan in TCP, and this is one of the most obvious instances.
it's also heavily implied that Balekin, infamous mortal abuser, would beat Cardan as a result of Jude (a mortal) besting him. was this Jude's fault? absolutely, unequivocally NO. but it's easy to see how, if Cardan could not lash out at Balekin for beating him, the next best option would be to make Jude experience even a tiny fraction of what he felt she'd caused.
to Cardan, Jude doesn't know helplessness (even though we know that to be untrue). and i'll bet there was a part of him that, after months of not being able to get her out of his head, relished seeing her suffer a little at his hand.
III. Should We Forgive Him? (hint: it's about The Growth)
forgiveness is a very personal thing, and something not everyone can afford to give. but also, i don't believe forgiveness should be the main objective for moving past wrongdoings.
understanding is a much more achievable goal that gifts all parties, witness or involved, with a certain boon of distance. if we can understand why someone did a thing, we can better realise empathy for them without feeling the need to coddle their emotions—and without them feeling the need to further atone.
and if, at the end of all of this, you still cannot understand Cardan in this scene, then i will not be able to sway you.
either you're the kind of person that holds every action someone makes that you disagree with against them forever, or you're the kind of person that recognises personal reflection and development as a positive character trait that can outweigh past cruel actions, if the proper effort is put in.
for me, Cardan's efforts throughout the rest of the series proved enough to earn my trust. it's the Growth, your honours. it was very sexy.

the law of attraction: de minimis
a quackity x reader law school au
part one, chapter one
[PREV] | [NEXT]
.
The first myth about law school is that everyone is the same.
In movies, in TV shows, in books- everyone in law school is a certain type of person. Dangerously smart, hardworking to a fault, and absolutely cutthroat.
Now, that is true. To get this far, to get into a competitive law school and make it to your final year, you have to be all of the above. Smart, hardworking, and just a little cunning. It’s impossible to get a leg up unless you’re standing on someone else’s knee.
Or neck.
However, the fact that everyone here has to have a certain few traits in order to survive does not mean that they cannot have other traits.
Some are louder, exuberant, and competitive- the type to yell out the answer to a question before raising their hand, the type to go back and forth with the professor when they’re sure they’re right (and they’re not). There’s the introverts, the sly ones you never see coming, who you barely notice next to you all year until you glance over at the grade on their final and it’s a 110%, somehow.
Of course, there’s also the in-between. The respectable ones, the students that are just there to get through the classes they need and get a respectable job at a respectable law firm and make something nice out of their lives.
Or the hero type, the ones that are convinced they can fix any injustice they perceive in the world- the environmental lawyers, the criminal defense lawyers, the civil rights lawyers. They might be right, too, which is why it seems like a never-ending flow of them are pouring into the school at each orientation.
It’s not always as simple as that, of course. You, like many students, are a mix of a few types. You lie somewhere between the exuberant and introverted sides, not shy about answering questions in lectures, but not jumping the gun to cause discourse, either. A bit of a hero type, you must admit, but you do pride yourself on being reasonable when it comes to your life’s expectations. You don’t expect to become some William Kunstler. You work hard, you get shit done, and like law school has a tendency to do, it seems to become your whole entire life.
The type of person you never quite got a read on is Alex.
He’s been sitting next to you in your upper level criminal procedure class for the entire semester. A whole semester’s worth of lectures means you have plenty of time to observe and analyze the people in your classes- its not like there’s anything else to do when the professor is going over voir dire for the third hour that week.
You pegged the kid in the third row as a die-hard businessman. He’s not going into law to help people, he’s going into law to make the most profit off of the most vulnerable clients he can find. The girl in row six, however, is definitely the hero type, judging by her “save the oceans” stickers on her giant re-usable coffee cups.
Alex, though, you can’t read. He dresses down compared to the other students. They dress up to hide their shortcomings, like their fancy coats can stop them from feeling bad about their less-than-adequate qualifications for the internship they just applied for. Others just like to lean into the New York City aesthetic and dress like they’re already lawyers, even despite failing their last midterm. You fall into that category- you can’t help it, it’s a fun look- but hey, you definitely didn’t fail your midterm, and you’ve lived in New York your whole life, so you think you have the right to dress like that.
Alex dresses like he has nothing to hide. He dresses like the young, high-level professor who is always cracked out on Redbull and hasn’t graded a paper in his life; like the cute, fascinating barista at the local hipster coffee shop you can barely afford. He dresses like that one guy you’d see on the subway one day and never manage to forget because of how his eyes met yours for a split second.
To be fair, that is kind of how it’s gone. It’s not exactly like the two of you met on the subway, and you’ve definitely interacted more than just a passing glance, but goddammit is Alex stuck in your head.
You convince yourself it’s just because he’s such a mystery. It’s not because he has really sweet brown eyes, or the most charming, unruly hair you’ve seen this side of the Midwest. It’s not because he whispers a joke under his breath whenever your professor says something stupid, or because he bumps your ankles together and shares an amused glance with you when that one really annoying kid pipes up with an opinion no one wanted.
It’s just because you don’t know why he’s here, and you don’t know what he wants, and you don’t know how to read him.
It bugs you. It gets under your skin- not like an itch, more like a hum. He’s on the back of your mind constantly, like you’re trying to subconsciously figure out what’s up with him, but to this day you’ve had no success.
It’s not like you think about anything substantial in regards to him- every time your traitorous brain brings him up, you put it down quicker than it came up. Getting attached to people is dangerous in the best of circumstances, but getting attached to the absolute enigma of a guy in your criminal procedure class who you can’t even confidently say is named Alex would be equivalent to signing up for heartbreak.
“Don’t date law boys,” your roommate had lamented after she had done just that, laid across her rose-pink bedspread with a sleeve of crackers clutched in one hand and a tissue in the other. She had then blown her nose unattractively. “Lawyers have a reputation for being soulless for a reason. They’re only here for themselves. Fuck them.”
Despite that, you find yourself friends with Alex. As if you’d be able to resist the self-satisfied grins he flashes at you when the professor praises him for a particularly poignant answer, or the way he holds his hand out under the table for a high-five after you nail the answer to a cold call. You barely know anything about him, and yet, you know enough to decide he’s a good person.
“Alex”, whose name you’re only about 80% sure of- maybe it’s short for Alexander, but you thought you’d heard someone he was on the phone with call him Q, so maybe he’s a Quinn or a Quentin?
“Alex”, who shows up looking more comfortable than you’ve been in your entire life, and still manages to hold an air of confidence around him that you’d not be able to master even in your finest long coat and shirt.
“Alex”, who seems determined to wiggle his way into your heart in any way he can.
“Alex”, who you seem to be powerless to resist.
.
This growing attachment to Alex of yours is only strengthened with each lecture. You share this class three times a week, two hours each on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It’s a focus class, meaning that anyone who wants to go into criminal work should take this course. It’s challenging, it’s competitive, and it’s cutthroat.
And it’s only February.
A cold Monday morning in February, in fact, with the clock above your professor’s desk ticking obnoxiously as the big hand nears the 8. Outside, it’s downright miserable: windy and foggy. The outside of the paneled windows of the classroom are glazed in a sticky frost, reducing the figures of passing students to dull blobs as they hurry through the whipping wind to get to their classes.
The big doors at the back of the classroom close with a bang that reverberates throughout the lecture hall, cutting through the murmuring chatter of the students who are already here. Out of the corner of your eye you catch a flash of green- as you suspect, it’s Alex. He always takes the seat on the very end of the row, and you the one immediately to his right. You look up at him with what you hope is a casual smile, but the one he returns is so bright it could probably melt the frost off of the windows.
“Hey!” he says, too awake for 8 in the morning, and sets his binder down on the desk with a clatter. The whoosh of air rustles the paper of your notebook, which you smooth back down habitually. You watch Alex longer than you should, only tearing your gaze away after you notice the smattering of tiny snowflakes that have gathered atop the beanie he’s wearing.
You stifle a little laugh. This guy wears a beanie to law school.
Out of the corner of your eye, you watch as he settles into his seat. He shrugs off his hunter green jacket, leaving him in just a gray hoodie, dotted with darker spots from melting snowflakes that’d been blown into him. He drops his outer jacket across his lap just as the room goes silent, your professor walking up to his desk.
As the last tails of conversations die off, you turn to Alex, unable to help yourself, “You have… snowflakes, on your head.”
He glances at you, a little huff of laughter escaping him as he brings up a hand to smooth over the beanie. The snowflakes are swiped off, melting on the heat of his hand- you wonder how it would feel held in yours, probably warm, he looks like he runs hot- and you pry your eyes away as he straightens out his beanie and tucks his hair up into the brim of it. He misses a strand, and the black swoop stands out sharply against the frost-paled skin of his face.
“Happy February,” your professor begins, his microphone crackling to life. “The month of love, is it not? Just two weeks until Valentines day.”
He swings his bag up onto the stool next to him, the sound echoing through the microphone. He turns to face the lecture hall, arms spread as if welcoming you all to a talk show.
“I’m about to ruin all of your Valentines Day plans. Welcome to the start of your final project: the mock trial.”

Platonic Yandere! Erasermic:

Check out my MASTERLIST for more!
Platonic Yandere! Erasermic:
The BEST platonic yandere couple to have!
You're a student at UA, part of class 1A. You're Aizawa's favourite student. You're just so polite and so sweet. Always so eager to learn and try out new things. And even the class would notice his special treatment of you. "You forgot to do your homework? Hmm, alright you can submit it to me tomorrow. Denki you forgot to bring your homework? Go run 5 laps right now."
Hizashi would often hear about you from his husband. You sounded like a good kid. But he really became interested you when you came looking for Aizawa in the staff room, but you found him instead. Hizashi started talking to you, really just rambling about the most random things. He was expecting you to just leave and go look for Aizawa, but he was pleasantly surprised when you started talking to him too, easily carrying the conversation. Your eyes would light up when you were talking to him. And since then, you would always give him your complete, undivided attention whenever you guys spoke, no matter what the topic was. You'd sometimes be rambling, and then suddenly forget what you were talking about. It was just so cute!
Gradually, these two would become obsessed with their favourite student. They'd also become very protective of you. When it was time to choose an internship, Aizawa rejected all offers from different agencies on your behalf, lying to you that you didn't get any offers. And then you'd become so sad, near tears and then Aizawa would offer to train you himself, that he sees potential in you. Of course you'd accept, you'd get to train with Eraserhead, a rare opportunity!
When you'd be training with Aizawa, he'd go easy on you, but he'd still give you great tips on how to improve yourself and control your quirk. You still haven't been able to beat him once though. Since you'd be around Aizawa a lot, you'd also meet his partner, Hizashi, often. And since you would accompany Aizawa on his late night patrols, you'd have dinner (made by Hizashi, who's more than happy to cook for you) with them at their place a lot, and it always ended up with them offering you stay the night, and you sometimes did.
Their obsession love would continue to grow the more you spent time with them. And then one night, the couple would be discussing about expanding their family, and then they both knew it, right then and there. Its you. You'd be the perfect addition to their family, the perfect child! You're so kind, soft spoken. Outgoing yet shy and reserved when meeting new people. But you're just so naive, too innocent for your own good. And they've both seen the ugliness of the world, the worst in the people. They cannot afford to just stand by idly and risk you getting tainted by this filth.
It was decided that night that you had to become a part of their family. They'll make your parents disappear, they have both the money and the skills to do it. Maybe they'll say that your family was taken or killed by some villians, or better yet, they were caught doing something illegal. But don't worry, you can stay with them for as long as you want. When you try to refuse, that you can stay with a relative, they'll tell you that it's for your own safety. They don't want the villians to complete their unfinished business. Plus, they are more than capable of taking care you, and since you didn't want to risk another family member's life, you agreed.
You'll be having the best time of your life. They'll spoil the hell out of you, Hizashi especially. Aizawa does too, but he's just more protective of you.
Hizashi is a great cook! He'd learn to make your favourite dish too. And if you like something from a restaurant, he'll take it as a challenge and try to replicate the dish, or make a better one! At school, all 3 of you would sometimes have lunch together, you always bringing Aizawa's lunchbox along too, since he often forgets it. If you try to cook a dish for them, they'll treat it like its a Michelin star dish!
Aizawa would be the more protective one, always the harder one to convince to let you go out with your friends, especially at night. Hizashi would always convince him in the end, they're gonna follow you anyways so why stop you? Aizawa's a bit possessive too. He doesn't like it when you talk about other pro heroes, you're his little girl, you should be looking upto him. He won't say anything about it though.
Hizashi would love to just talk to you; you guys would often gossip. Oh and you always go to him for any fashion advice. Since he also has long hair that he styles up a lot, he can do your hair too! Just show him a picture of what you want, and he'll style hair exactly like it. Aizawa likes to do your hair too sometimes, but he only knows how to put it in a simple braid.
They're will be a lot fun activities for you to do with them. You can be having karaoke nights with Hizashi, Aizawa watching you guys with just pure adoration in hie eyes. You can play video games with Aizawa, which he is scary good at, especially at Among us. Family game nights are a must!
If you have any other hobbies or passions, you'll have 2 dads, cheering for you. They'll get you the best supplies available. If you win an award, any award, no matter how small, they'll tell you how proud they are and put your achievements either on the fridge or somewhere where everyone can see it.
Of the two, Aizawa would be the to quickly pick up on your mood. He knows when you're lying, when you're sad, or when you've just had a bad day at school. Hizashi would notice too, but it would be Aizawa who would know if you needed some space or if you needed to talk it out; they've always it clear to you that the latter option is always open.
Once they find out whats the reason you're feeling so down, they'll comfort you. You guys would often cuddle on the sofa as a funny movie played on the TV. Once you've gone to bed, they go and eliminate the cause of distress. Oh did you fail a test? Its okay, they'll tutor you personally. Oh did your favourite character die? Cry it out sweetie and let's go buy some of the character's merchandise . Oh did someone confess their feelings to you and you don't know what to do? Don't worry, he's taken care of.
Dating isn't an option. They'll be quick to reject him/her, listing reasons to you exactly why they're not good for you. Of course, nobody deserves their baby. But if you do go against their wishes, and still get an s/o in secret, they'll find about it. If they're thinking about how to separate you guys, and you walk in all heartbroken because your s/o broke up with you, with no persuasion from the couple; on the inside they'll be both glad and mad. Hizashi will be comforting you, cooing sweet nothings in your ear, while Aizawa would be standing with a "I warned you" look on his face at first but then he sees your red, teary face, your lips wobbling, your eyes full of pools of tears, and immediately his stern exterior would melt and he'll gather you in his arms and let you cry into his chest, while his mind will go to "MURDER". You're their sweet girl, their precious little baby. How dare someone play with your feelings like that. Your ex better sleep with one eye open.
If you do somehow find about what really happened to your parents, and you try to run away from them, not only will they have you back in their arms within the hour, they'll take you somewhere countryside. Its always been noisy in the city anyway. They'll try to explain to you, that they really just did all of this to protect you and that it should show how much they love you and care about you. No physical punishment will ever meet you. No, they can't bear the thought of hurting you! They'll use manipulation to control you, and they are master manipulators. They do so much for you, aren't they enough?
Just be happy they still allow you to roam around the countryside, and not had you locked up in your room. School would be off the table for a while, as will any connection to your friends. Its about time they all had a family vacation anyway.
Tumblr media
I'd let Erasermic adopt me in a heartbeat, ngl. 👊 Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed this! Requests are OPEN. :)
