• Ngl, I feel like Subspace wouldn't really care if you're tall or not..... lemme just write something up rq.
• Okay so, first of all, he thinks he's the tallest working demon in Blackrock. (He likes to intimidate shorter people with his height.. you can't change my mind.) So seeing someone taller than him and most importantly.. HIS OWN PHUCKING ASSISTANT— he was a bit flabbergasted when he wasn't the taller demon in blackrock now. sad lol.
• He does find your height quite useless and useful sometimes.. that's when he needs to reach much higher places that he can't reach that is.
• He doesn't like you nor does he hate you though, you guessed. he just thinks he doesn't need any assistant as he can do anything by himself, plus he has his biografts to order around.
• That's until neither of them could reach a tall ass shelf.
• He once ordered the biografts carry each other to get something off the shelf anddd... they all fell onto him LMAO—
• He did call out for you to get the stuff he needed, until you said something about him getting a chair or a ladder so he could reach it, yeah, he never asked again as he felt dumb of not thinking of that. -5 pts.
• Don't worry, you got him some mechanical parts as an apology that you think he'd like, so he won't kill you afterwards.
• He thinks it was a nice upgrade for his biografts though. +1 pts
• He is still an ass to you.
• But, he actually forgave you after about 3 months as you kept giving him the things he could use for his biografts, and occasionally asks you to buy some things..
• When he's chill and tired, do ask him about his latest inventions, he'll lighten up, he hides his little excitement and talk about it 24/7 and will never stop.. what have you done. +5 pts
• He now does insist that you go shopping with him at times, whenever he feels like it as you have an advantage to look for stuffs he wants. called you a dang giraffe too
• He makes you his personal eye shopping tree as you can see much higher places..
• Oh yeah, you carry everything too lol
• When you're now on his good side, he would repay you with a nod when you do/did something useful or worth his time.
• Don't worry it's gonna change overtime.. wink wink.
• For most parts, he acts like he doesn't like or care about anything, but wants you to get it for him secretly. do get it for him though.. +3 pts
• Oh, right, forgot to say that when you ask about his biografts or his inventions, AND you're actually interested in them??? Just know he's secretly giddy about it. +20 pts
• But now that he knows you're interested in his inventions, he showcases them to you, he never misses any damn details about it. (he talks about how efficient some of the component parts are too)
• Yay, you're on his good side, he's never letting your ass go now.
• Ngl, he dislikes it when you show anyone else with the same interest as you have for him, your interest shall solely be towards him, and him only.
• If he needs you for something and he can't find you? Yeah, doesn't happen you're the 2nd tallest in this building. no he doesnt wanna be on 2nd place.
• He also has this tendency to steal you away from anyone you talk to.. no matter how important it is, he's the boss, YOUR boss to be exact. So you should only follow HIS orders.. you are his assistant after all.
• Yeah, he only wants you to be interested in his doings and no one else. jealous ahh bit—
• [Y'know what, let's skip to when you guys are dating, yeah? I can't think of anymore bs.. why do i even do this..]
• You'll be the one carrying everything, no matter how small or big it is, you're carrying it.
• He uses you as a ladder, he makes you carry him whenever he can't reach crap.
• Also not only you're his ladder, he makes it as an excuse to do less things. Oh he could reach that? he calls for you. Oh no, it's it's a bit high up with a ladder besides it.... calls you anyway. You're his personal ladder now and you can't get away with it.
• He also makes you give him some piggyback rides, his legs are tired.
• Will definitely blush if you carry him bridal style.
• Don't do it in public though, he might present you a certain tripmine. *winks.*
• Also whenever he has some conversations with Scythe and makes him uncomfortable, he makes you as a shield.
• Scythe definitely think he's being babied.
• Overall, you're his.. you can't change that.
• You can't get away nor run now after all, you have him by your side..

Yes, decorating the Tower while its inhabitants were busy on missions and patrol would have been even better unannounced. But really, Wildfire would never do anything like that - too big the potential for something to be unwanted, the possibilities of them thinking there's an intruder in their place or the likes. No, asking beforehand felt better, and that way he also learned from Starfire that there was someone else going to help him with it.
So, he came to the Tower at the agreed-upon day, the team already gone because of some urgent trouble, and entered the Tower with his communicator. After moving up all these floors and finally coming into the living room - Ops room as the team called it more often - he noticed that someone was already on the couch.
"Hello!" Wildfire quickly began, having told himself to be confident and open to meeting someone new today and trying his best to stick to that, as he walked around it and smiled at the other boy. "I am Wildfire! You are too here to, ... for, christmas de-co-rations, for them?" It was a big place to fill with decorations, no doubt, and it was perhaps unlikely that they would even be finished by the time the team would return - but it was a wonderful thing to do and Wildfire looked forward to it.

Malavita, your only loyal friend, that pretty German shepherd is sleeping beside you, trying to console you with his snoring, your thoughts are interrupted for the sound of footsteps, heavy footsteps.
- Hey, umm... Are you okay? Do you live here?
- not anymore...
That's all you said while pointing out to the door of your apartment and laughing sarcastically.
- oh...
- I Know, just another bad day. Anyway... What about you? I thought I was living alone in this floor.
- I live here but I rarely come home... Because of my job.
That accent, why are you still talking? In months you didn't talk to nobody and now you're talking to this stranger who says is your neighbor.

And he wasn't lying, könig had a bad month, he was exhausted, all those missions, injuries, reports. Being here at his apartment with you, makes him feel different, he felt airy, something on you makes him feel relaxed, he even wonders if this is the beginning of a new friendship... Or something else?.
There's some silence, not the kind of silence that makes you feel uncomfortable but the silence that feels good, but He needs to know more about you, he feels intrigued and curious about you.
- So, (y/n) I don't intend to be... obtrusive, but what's the story behind the overdue payment of your rent.
You sighed, pressed your lips and avoided his eyes and after a few minutes you finally spoke.
- I was a pilot, I lost my job recently, you know... I was in this relationship, he broke my heart, he cheated on me, I got depressed, that's the reason, I can't go back home because my mom won't allow me and my brother doesn't have space for me at his home... That's the story.
- why won't your mother allow you to go home?
- That's another story, the main reason is that I decided to follow my father's steps, he was a pilot too... In the army, he died in action, my mother tried to keep my brother and me far away from the army and planes... Anything that could remind her of my father, but in the end I did it, I became a pilot, not In the army though. But that ruined my relationship with my mother. My brother is married, has a lot of kids, no space for me and my dog.

- oh it's okay, I think I needed to let all this out, speak to someone, Malavita is loyal and a great companion but not a great conversationalist.
And at this comment he laughed, so u did it too, your great moment was interrupted by the sound of someone in the hallway caught your attention.

- of course, do you need help?
- oh well, I don't want to abuse your hospitality but do u think I can sleep on your sofa tonight?
- of course, you can spend the night here, not on my sofa though, I'm a gentleman... You can take the bedroom, I'll take the sofa.
It took you a few minutes to pack just the important and negotiate when you would pay the rent debt. By the time you knocked at König's door, he already had some food on the table, and Malavita was playing with him.
- hey! come in, I prepared dinner, take a seat, we were waiting for you.
This image brought some fireworks to your heart, are you dreaming? You don't feel that hole in your chest anymore, König filled it in less than one day, this man is so kind to you, is he the miracle you were praying for?
That night, turned into one week, one month, then 3 months, a friendship developed, both knew more of each other, you got a new job, he started to visit his apartment more often, he didn't say it loud but you and Malavita became a good reason to come back, to take care of himself in his missions, eventually, you and könig took the relationship to the next level, that's how it happened, that's how this man arrived to your life, and that's how you gave him a new perspective and hope to his.

Anyway I wanted to ask for either headcanons or a scenario (if you need me to choose I'd choose a scenario, but I'm happy with either!) For Cicero in skyrim!! Reader is the listener, as per usual (in regards to reader inserts involving Cicero I mean, hehe). I like to think Cicero is Quite the devoted little guy, with a slight crush even before they become listener (specifically if the reader helps him at the Lorieus(sp?) Farm). Them becoming the listener was simply the nail in the coffin Already for him to fully dedicate himself to them <3
(Bonus: I think Cicero has a shrine of the reader in some way. Just little trinkets and tokens that either represent the listener or that used to even Belong to the listener and went "missing".)

Cicero is certainly the delusional yet devoted type.
What makes him quite bad is he's an assassin.
Which means he's quite skilled and used to murder.
In fact he gets excited about it in voice lines.
You could've met him when his wagon broke or met him at the Dark Brotherhood.
(Personally I met him at the Dark Brotherhood since I fast travel too much)
His obsession is quick when he learns you're the listener yet subtle before that.
His first impression are you're just another new assassin.
New like him to this location.
He has a feeling you'll be good for the job but isn't sure why.
It isn't until you get a few jobs done and are then instructed by Astrid to spy on him that things click.
It's here he learns you're The Listener.
One meant to fulfill an important role for the Dark Brotherhood.
His obsession develops from here.
He now knows why you're so important.
Mother has picked you! While at first he was envious... he begins not to mind much.
He waits for you to come back from jobs and put pieces of the big plan to get rid of the Emperor.
As he is not your follower yet he's still a bit tame.
His obsession is mostly kept under wraps.
He does indeed steal some stuff from your room to make a small shrine dedicated to you and your work.
It's filled with random trinkets, weapons... fluids (blood).
He often praises you for your recent work and holds you in high regard.
He loves that you please Mother!
Even with the fall of the current Dark Brotherhood he sticks by you.
He doesn't feel bad that he attacked some members for disrespecting you and Mother.
If anything they deserved it.
He doesn't understand why you look so upset about it, either!
You had come to hunt him down to the old location of the Dark Brotherhood, he could see the annoyance on your face.
What probably solidifies his obsession is the mercy you give him.
You allowed him to live, maybe even using a healing spell before leaving.
He didn't see you again until you moved the Dark Brotherhood location and became the leader.
It's then he decides to show himself as your servant.
After that he never parts from you.
He had already moved his shrine to the older location before the fire caused by the failed assassination of the Emperor.
He even continues to grow his shrine as he follows you about.
He collects souvenirs from your assassinations and never stops following you.
He is devote to the Night Mother and you.
He loves how you yourself are dedicated to the job.
Regardless on if you like him or not, Cicero promises to help serve you in your duties.
Cicero has no problems with targeting those around you.
They could be people attacking you, or maybe he's even jealous you're giving new recruits attention.
Either way... Cicero is rather trigger happy.
He feels the best way to impress you is being stained in the aftermath of a job!
Surely you don't mind the sight of blood, you're used to that!
Cicero insists on coming to every assassination job you do.
He wants to witness your work!
He would not abduct you, no, you have way too much work!
Instead he just wants to follow and help!
He soaks in every bit of attention you give him like and eager sponge!
He isn't a big one for intimacy.
Although the slightest touch you give makes him pause for a moment.
Maybe he does like this?
Cicero would do anything to help aid you...
He wants to kill for you... he wants to do it a lot...!
More than anything... he wants your approval and praise as The Listener.

Confession, as a DC Comics Fan:
I don't like the shippings Damian Wayne had over the years. Not anymore, at least.
For awhile, I've been seeing a TON of Damian Wayne stuff related to ships on the internet. From big ones like Damirae or Damijon to smaller ships like Damian x Cassie or Damian x Djinn or Damian X Emiko. Then there was Damian and Flatline (or Nika) that became recently canon in the comic run, Lazarus Tournament (check it out, I think its cool). These ships had a fair share of fans and I've been one of them.
Until... I eventually grew out of it. Why?
Cause as I grew older, I'm getting a change of taste and a refreshed perspective of things, you know? So, with how much research I gather from Damian's character and these ships, opinions change. Some I lost likeness than I usually did. Some I got bored with overtime. Some, I just didn't care for as much. Lemme clarify, I still think some ships are likable than others, especially their dynamics with Damian as a character. But when I look between the characters he interacts with and their histories... It kinda makes me wonder... Does it really work? Are they worth it?
First, lemme start with the demon birds: Damirae. Damian x Raven. This was the first Damian Wayne shipping I discovered as a fan of the DC Animated Movie Universe. I watched JLVSTT (terrible title) to TT:JC to Apokolips War and ultimately... I was hooked. These characters could relate and they had such heartfelt and bittersweet tragic terms with the storyline. I cried when they shared their first AND final kiss (don't judge, I'm sensitive, 😭). This ship was my first and I fell in love with it! Plus, these characters have always been and will always BE my favorite in any DC storyline.
As I got older and learned more about them in other continuities, I grew a change of philosophy... I DON'T THINK IT WORKS. Hold on! Before Damirae fans explode! Hear me out. I see the appeal. They're similar in experience and personality, the idea of Damian, being the Grandson of the Demon's Head, dating a literal demon sounds cool (even if Rae wasn't originally a demon-). There's a lot in terms of age and direction with storylines I can see being a problem. Though, from how I see things and I say this from personal experience; similarities will not always be great in relationships. Their personalities just don't bounce each other off well for me. Additionally, I feel like some fanfics between this ship just don't do their characters justice. In a short question I've had with another user, I can say, I agree that some fans interpret this romance like a demon x angel dynamic. Like, Damian being into taking over the world while Raven is easily swayed on joining such pursuit. While the idea is... interesting, it does bug me a bit. It doesn't suit well with their characterization in my eyes. Plus, I feel like in other continuities, Raven, in character, would either,
1. Not like his personality.
2. Act as some sort of sympathetic sibling/mentor to him.
Honestly, number two sounds more fun and has potential in my eyes. 💜
Second, the one and only super sons; Damijon. Damian X Jon. These two are my ✨ world ✨. I've followed up with their comic storyline through YouTube (I have yet to snatch the comics-) and WOW they are just so, SO entertaining to watch! Jonathan Kent was super adorable (get it?)! Damian was a little troll but I love it! The movie was also spot on — the animation, the writing, the characters, the moments were just dynamite pure! I will love these two with a passion till the day I die! However, as much as I love these boys in all my heart and soul, I DO NOT ship them. It's cute but I just don't see them being anything more than friends, to be honest. 🦸
Third, the recent grave birds: Damiline. Damian X Flatline. OMG, I liked Flatline! I thought she was so cool! Not to mention, her power to absorb the abilities of warriors she's killed has so much potential. Sure, there were times when I thought moments of her were unnecessary or annoying, but she definitely caught my eye because she was just that fun! Her relationship with Damian was... interesting enough. I do feel like the romance was there because they were in a literal death tournament... if you know what I mean. It felt rushed. Plus, she kinda betrayed him later on. I'm surprised we didn't get a reaction from Damian to this too. Eventually, I looked into Flatline's solo issue in New Evolution. I feel like this issue in particular is where Flatline considers Damian as an afterthought. It was also this line that stood out the most for me — "We'll see how long that lasts". This could mean their relationship may one day end short. And I believe Flatline is just as aware of this too. BUT. I don't think this is a bad thing. It could allow opportunities for her to develop without always being in a romantic role. I like the character, I just don't see this working for too long. It feels like the writers were trying to throw a goth x goth romance for the sake of the plot. 💀
I hear Flatline's coming back, though! I'm excited to see her return!
Fourth, Damian X Cassie Sandsmark (Wonder Girl). This originated from the DCeased storyline, where the world suffered a zombie-like apocalypse thanks to Cyborg bringing the Anti-Life Equation to Earth. Though... To me, she just seemed like another "Jonathan Kent" best friend, than anything else. Probably just me. If there were more interactions, maybe I'll reconsider. 🦸
Fifth, Damian X Djinn. Now, I thought this had potential. They did seem genuine with each other and had nice conversations. Though, if the pedophile part wasn't involved (Djinn being an immortal deity), I'd probably give it a chance. But I don't really ship it because of that fact. 😓 🧞♀️
And finally, Damian X Emiko Queen (Red Arrow). I don't see much appeal to this ship. They had similarities, sure, but... that's about it. Damian just had a brief "stalker-crush" and that was gone. So, not much to be said there. Like I mentioned before, if there were more interactions between them, maybe I'll consider. For now, it's not for me. 🏹
This will be where my confession comes to an end. These are my thoughts and opinions. You guys don't have to agree with me but that's just how I see these ships regarding Damian Wayne as a character. Arguments are welcome in the comments. I'm fascinated by these juicy conversations!

so, random thought, there's a good chance the demon bros inadvertently harmed mc in some capacity just because human and demon limits are so vastly different, and the main human any have had contact with is Solomon, whose humanity is somewhat debatable. mc might act like they're invincible, but they are human in the end, and human durability is largely that we can keep going after almost any injury, not that we don't get injured
like Lucifer strings them up as he would his brothers, forgetting (assume he's really tired or stressed or whatever) that doing so puts a lot of pressure on the body and can cause actual damage instead of just being annoying like it is to his brothers. depending on how exactly he ties them up it'd change the effects but it's never gonna be great for them
Mammon running away from shenanigans with them and he tugs on their hand a bit too hard and fast to get them safely around a corner and dislocates their shoulder in the process because force = mass x speed and Mammon is a speedy boy. or he's running from Lucifer and slams into them at top speed, and if they can't protect their head from the wall/floor you know Mams is freaking out because mc is all out of it and there's so much blood and he doesn't care how Lucifer punishes him as long as he makes sure mc is alright
otaku Levi with his nonexistent sleep schedule doesn't realise just how badly sleep deprivation affects humans. paranoia, weakened immune system, depersonalisation, all the way to sleep deprivation psychosis. you go 96 hours or 4 days without sleep and lemme tell you, you ain't properly attached to reality anymore. been there, done that, would not recommend. there were bugs crawling all over my arms and legs and shadow people whispering. fucking sucked, and I was constantly shaking so I kept dropping stuff
if anyone knows about human durability, at least in theory, it's Satan, but the avatar of wrath can be emotionally charged. he really didn't mean to hurt them, but he was trying so hard not to lose it that day and as he led mc out of his room so they wouldn't be caught in the inevitable explosion, his deadly sharp claws nicked their skin. the wounds were mostly superficial— hurt like a bitch but no major arteries were damaged— but there was quite a lot of blood and Satan felt sick in a way he never had before. humans scar easily, a useful trait to close open wounds quickly, but Satan hates that he was the cause of those raised lines
Asmo is probably best at remembering since he hangs out with Solomon and has had human lovers before, but he is mostly around Solomon who cannot die. so he doesn't always remember what is and isn't toxic for humans, especially since a lot of poisons are used in medicines at lower doses and a lot of things we need to live are poisonous if we consume enough. it'd only take one slip up to put mc in hospital, and of course they don't blame him but he begs Satan to teach him as much as he can so it never happens again
you know Beel would try his best to remember, and he'd feel horribly guilty if he ever hurt mc, but he's big and strong even by demon standards and can eat anything that isn't Solomon's cooking. there's a few ways this one could go— sharing food with them that's toxic to humans, hugging them a bit too hard, mc giving him their food and going hungry, they work out together and they get hurt... take your pick
and Belphie knows all too well how fragile mc is, so he's very careful with his demonic strength around them. he already killed them once with barely any effort. but one day he wakes up from napping with mc to find he held them too hard and they're bruising. maybe his arm curled around their neck as it bloomed black and blue once again. Belphie doesn't nap with them for a while after that

Lucifer and his funny little habit of hanging his brothers 💕 Say he takes pity on MC, makes sure they're right side up, nothing around the neck and only tied beneath the arms and around the legs. Plans to take them down in 5 minutes, really it was meant to be the pet equivalent of air jail. But a call here, difficulties there and 5 minutes turn to 10 and then it slips to 15. It's so little time, absolutely nothing compared to the nights he's left Mammon up over the banister.
So why are there screams in the hall? Why are Asmo, Mammon and Levi on the phone with Solomon, Barbatos, and Simeon respectively? He doesn't understand why they don't immediatley drop MC down, only catching the tail end of Solomon explaing something called "suspension trauma" to Asmo. When they do get MC down, even from a distance he can see the color is almost completely gone from their face, while their legs are a few shades darker. He watches Satan mouth out the count for MC's pulse, quick and staggering. When MC wakes, they can't seem to take a proper breath- gasping, clutching their chest, tearing up and confused. There isn't much more any of them can do, other than stand back and hand MC over to Barbatos and Solomon.

In a movie, it would be considered slapstick comedy, the way that Mammon skid around a corner full speed, carpet pulling under his feet , hip checking the wall as he ran away from Lucifer. In a movie it would be hilarious they way him and MC crashed, sending them literally flying back, head bouncing off the wall, swirls in their eyes and stars dancing around their head. In a movie they would only need to shake it off and get up to yell at him, with Lucifer standing back and watching in smug satisfaction.
But there wasn't anything funny about this, MC slumped in his arms, blood turning his tshirt into a darker shade of black, making it tacky and stick onto his skin. They're awake, sort of? But their pupils aren't the same size, and the speech is slurred. There's a truce as Lucifer heals MC, and they get them to a proper doctor.
Mammon gets better at ducking and weaving around MC, it even helps him evade Lucifer better. But MC doesn't escape the dislocated shoulders, and unwanted popping of their knuckles when Mammon holds their hand too hard. Neither had known that after the first dislocation, its a lot easier to dislocate your should again. It's never intentional, but it always hurts- MC tries to breathe through it if there is an urgency, but Mammon catches the way they pointedly look away, trying to blink the tears away, and knows that he's- once again- failed to keep MC out of harm.

Levi being MC's energy drink dealer. He doesnt know why they dont but their own, but he has plenty so he ultimately doesnt mind sharing. They're not attached at the hip so he doesnt see how little sleep MC is getting, a single can carrying them through 2 whole days. They know its time to 1-up again when their heart stops sounding like helicopter blades.
He finds them on the floor of their room, rubbing their arms raw with the hard bristle brush Asmo uses to buff his horns, babbling incoherently to themselves.

With Satan the physical is NEVER intentional, as much as he used to rage in the early days of the fall, the thought of hurting MC didn't sit well with him. But tiny nicks are so easy to cause when even his regular nails are sharper than a humans'. If MC can keep their reactions subtle, it wont be until Satan is laying in their lap that he notices the "freckles" on their arms don't quite lay flat.
When you're used to fast reflexes, you don't think twice about slamming a door in someone's face. Someone (MC) who was too close and now has a broken, bloody nose. Now whenever the snore in their sleep, or their nose whistles when they laugh too hard, Satan remembers opening the door to MC doubled over, blood leaking from between their fingers as they tried to put pressure on the bridge of their nose.

Dosage and concentration.
Asmo is vaugely familiar with these terms- SPF strength, alcohol proofing, acidity in his skin care. He's had so many spa nights with Solomon that he doesn't think twice about sharing his skin care routine with MC as well. Powders, gels, creams, exfoliants. Some a bit too harsh, MC's skin turns warm and flush, so he thinks their skin is sensitive. He'd ask for help caring for his wings and horns. MC goes in with their bare hands to get a good scrub, attributing the burn to the rough edges and upturned edges of Asmo's horns. It feels like icyhot, so it must be working. When they're done, Asmo tries to take the rest of the cream off their hands to apply to his hands, but they both scream as a visible layer of skin from MC starts peeling off as well. The acid having fulling numbed and killed off most of the senses in MC's hand, had started to deteriorate the skin, and its by some small blessing that MC hadnt already applied it to their face. It takes a panicked called to Solomon to get the feeling back into MC's hands, but it still takes weeks for the skin to grow back on to their hands. The pain of bandages on raw muscle is excruciating, and Asmo sticks to them like glue, fully taking the blame for their condition.

Beel and Belphie have another trauma to share as twins- nearly killing MC in their sleep! Beel doesnt understand how heavy an unconcious body can be, and being as large as he is, this becomes a problem the first time him and MC share a bed. He falls asleep with an arm draped over them, but exhaustion from practice has him rolling on to them. Even if not entirely covering them, the weight on their chest makes it hard to breathe and MC soon drops nicities and is trying their damnest to get him off or at least wake him up. Its a panicked use of the pacts to call another brother that saves them, and Beel cant sleep for the rest of the night.
Belphie doesn't have as many night terrors these days, but they can still get bad. Usually sleeping with MC can keep these dreams at bay, but on nights that they dont, he wakes up to find MC tossed onto the floor or squeezed between him and the wall. On the worsts of these nights, he woke up to MC screaming, having wrapped a hand and tail so tightly around their arm that it shattered in 2 places.
(Can I also offer a beel and belphie alternative: MC wanting to match Beel's stamina/ gym workout time and getting muscle deterioration. Belphie wanting a sleeping partner so he messes up their sleeping cycles, 10+ hrs asleep, accidentally depriving them of light, water, and food, causing a depressive episode)

Ked's right, I do have book recs that you can find under this tag and also some on my writing blog here. I also have a page here where you can see what's on my bookshelf, but you can't filter it because Tumblr doesn't allow Java anymore >__>
I wouldn't call that page a rec list, though, it's just an inventory of what I own or what's on my list to own. Some of those books are objectively terrible and I will freely admit that, but there was something about them compelling enough that I read them more than once.
I didn't mean for the below to turn into me just reccing you authors but it kind of turned into that, so here are authors I would recommend:
Onley James - I love her so much that I support her Patreon. All of her stuff is good (and loosely connected) but my favorites are, of course, the Necessary Evils series. It has two spin-off series which I also very much enjoy: Jericho's Boys & The Watch. All three series surround the psychopaths in love trope, however Jericho's Boys and the first book in the Watch series do not feature it as a main trope because neither of the main characters fit the bill. Most of them do feature some level of kink, though.
Kiki Clark - Her main series is werewolves (but no Omegaverse) and it's called the Kincaid Pack. The first book is my favorite, but I own them all. It's finished and she's starting a new series in that 'verse, the prequel to which I think is The Mobster's Mate, which is so up my alley it's like someone was spying on me. She also has a MC/kink series called Leather & Chrome that's good, but it's not my favorite kink series. (Kiki also have other contemporary books that I love, I just don't want this to get too long)
SPEAKING of kink. Robin (RJ) Moray - She has a series called His Boy Next Door that gay-awakening, age gap, and BDSM-related. It has a spin-off series about two other characters called A Collar For His Brat, both are excellent. The only thing is in HBND, the main character's name is Channon and that took some getting used to. Robin also has other books which I highly recommend--including a space Omegaverse story called Changed: Mated to the Alien Alpha, which is very good--she is probably my Top 3 favorite authors and the fact that more of her stuff isn't available in paperback is a source of constant misery for me.
Eliot Grayson -- The only person I can think of off the top of my head that writes well-written first person POV. The Mismatched Mates series is her main title iirc. It's a soul-bonding / "mate or die" situation at first and segues eventually into "mating for convenience." Some stories are related and some aren't.
Stella Starling -- if you like high fluff and low angst, this is the author for you. All of her stuff is contemporary and very cute. My favorite series is the Semper Fi one but I like & own them all.
Sam Burns (and Sam Burns w/ W.M. Fawkes) - They do anything fantasy/magic-related. Werewolves, urban fantasy, there's a series about the Greek Gods, etc. I haven't read ALL of their works, but the stuff I have read, I like. My favorites / the ones I own: Wolves of Kismet (Omegaverse), the Star-Marked Warrior series (sci-fi/aliens), & Wolf Moon Rising (Omegaverse).
Ella Frank (and Ella Frank w/ Brooke Blaine) - Contemporary writer(s) that specialize in writing multiple books for the same couple. There's a lot of gay/bi-awakening. The Temptation series is a fantastic audiobook journey that I cannot recommend enough, that narrator was amazing. I also really liked the first three Fallen Angel books are about the same couple and I love them, the fourth FA book is about a different couple and I DNFed it. Couldn't say why, it just didn't hold my interest.

More Sea Serpent Hobie thoughts!
(been thinking about this au all day, it's completely consumed my mind!)
I was kinda toying with the idea of Hobie being able to take a human form. (In this version most people wouldn't know that sea serpents exist so he uses it as a way to interact with humans without revealing his true nature to them)
He visits a small local fishing village from time to time to hang out with the locals- mostly at the pub, but he also likes hanging around at the harbour
Cause he just gets lonely sometimes and humans make fun company- he finds tales about daring trips to sea entertaining, but he also loves to hear stories about places from far within the mainland as he's always stayed close to the ocean.
Nobody in the village knows what he really is- they all just think he's this odd but kind loner who visits from time to time.
He's well renowned by the people in the village, both for being a nice and helpful guy and because of his unique skills*
He never pays for anything in cash but instead in old trinkets and treasures he finds while out at sea - this resulted in a few arguments at first, but now people have come to accept it, some even look forward to seeing what he'll pull out as payment whenever he visits
if he doesn't have any treasure to pay with he'll offer to pay in favours- specifically favours that involve diving.
*If you need a diving job done he's your guy
He can stay underwater forever and go far deeper than any of the locals.
So if you need to retrieve something from, let's say a sunken ship, he's your guy!
He insists on going on missions alone- it's just easier to get it done if he can dive unseen in his serpent form.
The only people he doesn't get along with are authority figures and whalers!
There aren't any whalers residing in the village but sometimes a whaling boat will come by to restock. Every time they do Hobie terrorizes the crew as much as he can get away with. While also being very vocal about his opinion of them in general. He's gotten in fights with them more than once.
It's also not unusual for the whalers to find their ship vandalised if they stay overnight.
When he's in his human form he lives on a small island near the village, but far enough away that he can't be seen changing from serpent to human form and vice versa
He has a small hut where he keeps some fishing equipment (mostly for show in case a human comes by and wonders how he's able to feed himself on this tiny island) as well as a small garden where he grows different greens.
He'll trade his food for stuff with the villages, he mostly trades for clothes, sewing equipment or beer at the pub
Sometimes he'll disappear at sea for weeks at a time- if any of the villagers question him about it he'll just say he was out fishing- despite him only owning a small rowboat with a small engine, that doesn't work half the time. - He uses it to get to and from the island in human form as to not alert the villagers to his true form.
At some point he befriends Gwen**, who's a newcommer, when a local overhears her lamenting the loss of her mother's trinket at sea, and they suggest she asks Hobie for help- since the guy has a way of finding things lost at sea
Gwen doesn't really believe he can actually find it but seeks him out nonetheless cause it can't hurt to ask
Hobie accepts the job. In exchange he wants Gwen to tell him about the places she's been to before she moved to the village.
(** you can kinda replace Gwen with any character you want. I'm kinda considering making a small fic for this au where the reader takes Gwen's place, but I don't have the time nor energy to write it any time soon. Also I've never written a fic from the first person point of view so I'm not sure how it would turn out lol.)

How i do stuff | Part 2
Okay so i'm kinda doing this backwards going from the shading back to the sketching but not like i did anything logically ever.
THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE A LINE FOR LINE PROCESS because i am not that insane. Yet.
To be honest the entire sketching process is very intuitive on my part so i don't think i can provide much insight here but i'll try to make it make sense.
It is really not as conscious as the shading.
So first: have an idea to work with
Find a concept i like and go from there.
I decided that i want Vessel to look upwards and a little bit to the side and add some other details (which you are not going to see here yet. We are talking about sketching people here not background or whatever.)
Next step: i try to find a reference image that is as close to the desired pose as possible. It could either be made by a posing tool or actual reference image. Whichever is at hand.
(For whatever mysterious reasons i have a small catalog of IV pics in my head rent free so i actually knew what i was looking for.)
I use reference pictures for a few reasons. For one, they make it so much easier to figure out poses and movements. But more importantly by looking at them i can figure out the flow of the body much more faster than just from memory. They also help with understanding how cloth is draping or the way light hits certain shapes and surfaces. There are a lot of benefits.
Anyway so we have our reference picture:
But i wanted Vessel to look the other way so flipped it. (Zoom in not mandatory but we don't need the rest of IV for this.)
Ye okay i can now kind of figure out where goes what in relation to one and other.
Okay okay okay i know: draw a circle than finish the fucking owl.. no bear with me. I need something on the page to talk about what i do. Lemme explain:
So first i'm starting with the traditional x or cross (blue on the pic below). I usually i orient it in my head that the meeting point of the line is the part of your nose dips right above the nosebridge. Because that is usually in the same level as the eyes. At least how i start, they could be moved up or down later.
So the horizontal line for me is the middle of the middle pair of eyes/eyeholes for Vessel or if there is only one set of eyes than it is the middle line for the eyes. I found it most comfortable in proportion wise for me to start with. (This horizontal line would be the tip of the ears as well if i had ears on here.)
Than i pick where the tip of the nose and the mouth is going to be roughly. Doesn't have to be more than a little dot or line, it is going to be changed later anyway.(pink lines below)
I also pick a comfortable spot on the vertical line where the point of the chin is going to be, where throat starts and pick a spot for the addam's apple.(pink lines below)
Than i make the whole head into somewhat head like shape (pink egg like shape below), because where that ends is basically what i'm connecting with the chin point to find the jawline. (green lines below)
Maybe even add to a line or two for where i imagine the hood to go just for funsies.
What else i do simultaniously with this is finding the flow of the face because where his adam's apple is, will tell me where the neck bends in the movement, the neck curving point will show where the shoulder connects, but also where the tendons are going towards the suprasternal hollow and then where the collarbones start and angle back up towards the shoulders etc. Everything connects to the next thing.
(I also do this for half or full body figures as well, only there i'm trying to find the flow of the entire body. Or more accurately the curve of the spine in a natural or close to natural shape first and then figure out the smaller parts.)
Look i'm not gonna lie, for this to be eyeballed off of even a pretty close reference picture in a way that looks close to natural or makes sense, you have to have a basic understanding of anatomy.
It doesn't have to be a conscious understanding but it has to be there. There are endless tutorials out there to help with this and i highly recommend looking up a few because i know not everyone can learn it just by looking at dancers and anatomy lab videos.
Next step: find a reference for the mask and preferably for the mouth because i'm bad at drawing mouths and i want to learn. If it is moving make it not moving, it helps a lot. Kill it with a screenshot, put it in Paint, bury it in a jpeg. Simple as that.
When i have my mask reference, i'm just trying to find a sweet spot that matches it in a way that feels good. First i'm going for the rough outline of it, details can be added later. It is not going to be a one-to-one to the reference because it is not the exact same angle, but it still helps.
And from here it is mostly just trial end error of putting lines and details in and than erasing them until i reach a state where i can say: yup this is look decent enough and can refine it into a lineart and start shading.
Not much else i could share here about this part of the process because as i've said most of it is pretty intuitive and based on a certain level of anatomical understanding.
(Hopefully you'll see the end result in a couple of days but we'll see how much time i'm going to have.)

fic tid bits
alrighty so ive been working on this fic for awhile now and I wanted to talk about it a little bit
(i dont have a solid release date or anything but I have written the first few chapters)
its based off of these designs i did a few months ago
i will be changing them all a little bit to better fit the tone of the fic but those are the general vibes
its a dark fantasy setting with inspiration pulled from stuff like the witcher 3 and Castlevania (the series)
the first few chapters are more focused on rapunzel but it moves into all of their povs as things go along
as for the characters heres a quick summary
Rapunzel has lived all her life in a tower kept safe from a "broken world" by her dear mother. For 18 years she believed that the world was overrun by creatures created from a magic historical event known as the Evernight (that name might change). When her Mother doesn't return home on her 18th she fears the worst and quickly learns that her Mother's version of history isn't quite accurate.
All Merida ever wanted was to be free. Her Mother had always blathered on about the cost of that freedom but it took first-hand experience to really make the point clear. A terrible mistake set a curse on her clan with Merida the only one left to escape and pick up the pieces. Now she hunts a Fae who can fix what she's done.
Nearly dying is bound to leave a sour taste in anyone's mouth. And let's just say Hiccup has had his fair share of experiences. He left his old life behind a long time ago to pursue the one thing that's really important, stopping his clan, the hunters. When a typical trade bust goes sideways he ends up the unwilling guide of some rather strange individuals.
You'd think being a powerful fae's apprentice would be an amazing deal, but Jack might have to disagree. For the last six years, he's studied to become a mage in the Capital, invisible to the public eye until his graduation as tradition calls. But his studies are frustrating and the path he walks is lonely until a favour pulls him into the life he's always wanted, one where people see him.

The Lemon Legacy: Generation 1, Chapter 78 - Skinny Legend
It's been a stressful couple of days but Ophelia keeps on truckin', just like always. Between playing with the band at The Lemon Drop and wedding planning, Ophelia's had a lot on her plate, but she knows it'll be worth it.
The gym's been a great place for her to blow off steam.
Xander hasn't exactly been much help with wedding planning. Ophelia gets he's busy since the bar opened, but even during their down time, when she's asked for his opinion on decorations or venues, he's mostly said things like "Whatever you want" which is nice, but not helpful.
Ever since she discovered her active trait, Ophelia can't believe how much she's been working out lately. All that crap about exercise giving you endorphins is actually true. Plus, if she's at the gym, it means she doesn't have to worry about floral arrangements or cake flavors.
It's a new morning and Xander is hairier than usual.
Ophelia: You don't usually let your facial hair get that long.
Xander: Guess the settings in CAS reset because it didn't used to grow. Maybe I'll grow out a Father Winter beard for the wedding.
Ophelia: Please don't.
Marshmallow isn't pleased with her breakfast and decides to eat people food.
Ophelia: Dang it, I've told her a thousand times not to do that! It's like she thinks she runs this place!
Xander: That's because she does.
Marshmallow: thank you for understanding, father.
Xander: Lemme talk to her.
He puts on his sternest expression.
Xander: Marshmallow Anastasia Lemon, you stop that right now or I'm not making you anymore Misty Fresh Pet Confections.
Marshmallow: very well, father. you have won this battle, but you will not win the war.
Ophelia: Nice work there.
Now maybe she can actually get somewhere with getting Xander to help with wedding planning.
Ophelia: I've found a couple of venues in our budget. We can tour them on your day off if you want!
Xander: Ah, I don't care, babe. Just pick which one you like best and we'll make it work.
Ophelia: Oh… Okay.
Xander can't believe how easy it is to plan a wedding!
Xander saying "I don't care" echoes through Ophelia's mind over the next few days. She knows he probably didn't mean anything by it but how could he not care where they get married? It's like he doesn't care about the wedding at all!
Ophelia works out to stop thinking about it.
Why does SHE have to do all the work? Xander might be a business owner now but Ophelia's constantly performing at said business, not to mention working on her own original music. She almost feels guilty for feeling angry at him. It's not like she's told him she's frustrated.
Ophelia showers and changes, but does a double take when she sees her body in the full length mirror.
She wasn't trying to lose weight, but all that exercise clearly did more than just relieve stress. Ophelia's never been this thin. She barely recognizes her own body.
Despite her mother's comments growing up, Ophelia has always liked her body. Part of her feels sad, like she's conformed to society's expectations of what a female Sim should look like. But hey, this is the only body she's got, so she'll love it no matter what it looks like.
The next day, Ophelia hangs up one of their engagement photos. She loves how she looks in it, even if it was hard to find poses where Xander's hands didn't clip through her butt.
Despite the changes in her body, Ophelia knows she'll love their wedding photos no matter what.
Xander sneaks up behind her, wrapping his arms around her.
Xander: You look gorgeous in all those pictures.
Even if he hasn't been the most attentive about the wedding planning stuff, he has caught on to how weird Ophelia feels about how different she looks now.
Xander: Come here. You know I love you no matter what size you are, right? There might be less butt for me to squeeze, but I don't care as long as it's your butt I'm squeezing.
Ophelia: Be sure to add that to your vows.
Xander: Sorry, I forgot what I wanted to say and panicked.
Xander: My opinion on your body isn't relevant, but I just noticed you've seemed off since you lost weight. I thought a second opinion might make you feel better.
Ophelia: It does. Thanks, sweetie. My body's probably going to change a lot over the years, especially after kids.
Ophelia: You'll still love me when I have a mom butt and saggy boobs and stretch marks, right?
She strokes his cheek. She knows that gets him weak in the knees.
Xander: I'll love you even more.
Ophelia: Good answer.
Now if only he could be this insightful about the wedding.

I hope that this is the last thing I ever post on this drama, but i just dont understand the negativity against Scott with the whole Ectoslab situation
Like yeah, I do understand being disappointed in him for not doing anything against the harassment towards Ecto, that's a criticism I do actually agree with. But people are almost treating it like Scott was the only cc ever involved with Ecto to drop them, saying that he did it to "save face" and "not get dragged into the drama". Everyone seems to forget so far Scott is the only cc we know to have expressed his support for Ecto during the harassment campaign and Scott wasn't even the closest CC to Ecto, Sausage was.
Yet Sausage didn't make any sort of statement on the situation (as far as I'm aware), nor in support of Ecto nor even about cutting ties with them and I haven't seen anyone critizicing him for letting down an artist he was so close to.
Other CC dropped Ecto too without saying a word on the matter. Scott was the only CC to express his support towards Ecto that we know of, and only retracted it upon finding out Ecto is a proshipper, retracting his support because he doesn't support proshipping. He wasn't trying to save face, he simply found out an artist he worked with and with who he would openly interact (especially in the early days of Pirates SMP) turned out to behave in a way he didn't approve or supported and decided to drop them.
He was trying to be a good person help someone without knowing or understanding what they were being accused of. And that has led to people taking his decision of retracting his support for someone because he didn't support what that person stood for and equating it to him trying to not get himself involved in the drama. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if people would have hated on him too for expressing that he didn't want people harassing Ecto (tho still I still wish he would have addressed it at least) and saying that he supported proshipping because of that. Why? Because that's what happened to the artist Foxxology, who was friends with Ecto, initially supporting them until they found out what the accusations where about, at the time this was going on and when they expressed despite not approving of Ecto's stance, they didn't support the harassment either people interpreted their distaste for unfair harassment as them supporting proshipping and also getting dragged into the hate which was the final push for them to leave twitter (they had been planning on leaving for a while, this incident was just the final straw, not the main cause).
(Also please they've already moved from this so don't go bothering them about this)
Lemme ask: Would you all be judging Scott as hardly had he stayed silent on the matter like every other CC did?
You can dislike Scott, in general or because he handled this specific situation. But I ask you to please verify all the information from all sides, not just here but in general. I too was on Ecto's side for the first few days but decided to check on my own if there was any proof to the allegations against them. It wasn't my intent to prove they are a proshipper (hell I was hoping it was stuff being taken out of context or something from so long ago Ecto no longer agreed with that) and I found out the proves for the allegations causing me to block them and delete anything I ever reblogged from them from my blogs. I still considered the harassment unfair, but also didn't want to suport a proshipper. My opinion didn't change upon seeing a google doc explaining things from their side when they say the characters had been aged to 18 (because I know that's not true) and that they continued to defend their stance saying that is about more than just problematic pairings.

i don't know if i would want to follow a movie plot exactly
so maybe he could go on a different adventure (perhaps looking for The Hand of Midas? or Excalibur?)
and maybe ronnie is the one who goes to Jake for help because her brother was tasked with looking for one of these things, finding it before the Nazi's do or whatever, but he's gone missing
they fall in love along the way, get into danger, she probably gets captured or something, they find brad, find and lose the treasure all the span of twenty minutes and bada bing bada boom

yeah.....not sure how I feel about this one either lol
by design jake is too cocky to play a ron stoppable type, it just doesn't fit him at all
can see it as a couples costume though lol
6 Childhood Pen Pals AU
oh now this is interesting
everything is basically the same, so regular au but just like a bit to the left
maybe they started being pen pals through the navy when they were kids, a way to connect kids who have a parent who died in service
they sent their first letters and replies begrudgingly, at the insistence of their mothers
but pretty soon their back and forth was natural and consistent throughout the rest of their childhoods and even into their teenage years
they definitely developed crushes on one another, sent pictures back and forth. but they were too scared to exchange phone numbers or anything like that. this, with the letters, felt sacred.
but then jake went off to the academy and his replies took longer and longer, and suddenly they just stopped
ronnie knew it was going to happen eventually. but it still hurt. she moved on, but kept every letter and picture he sent in a box she moved from house to house because she just couldn't find it in her to throw them out
but then she finds herself in fighter town, working at a crusty bar, and some young aviator walks in and he looks vaguely familiar. she sees the last name Seresin pinned to his khaki uniform and her stomach drops
no fuckin way
oh my god this concept is making me lose my whole mind. cause they know so much about each other!! in such an intimate way!! in a way that a lot of people probably didn't. they grew up together in a way, within those letters.

okay ive never seen the holiday, but i looked at the wiki plot synopsis so here is my best attempt

I'm not gonna focus on what happens to Jake's sister...she also finds a boo while staying in Ronnie's house it's chill idk
but i love the idea of Jake coming to his sister's house drunk off his ass to find some other woman there and they both decide to just fuck. that's so funny to me. and so on brand for those two horn dogs
but other than that i am unsure on anything else
like should jake be a widower with two daughters like the movie? should they get snowed in after the drunk sex and fall in love with some sweet forced proximity? do they just keep running into each other during her stay?
it's cute but ya know how it is

while you were sleeping is such a weird ass movie but i love it
i guess Jake's gotta have a brother in order for this to work (Jensen Ackles anybody?)
i still want this set in Cali, just because that is where Ronnie belongs in all honesty lol, so maybe she works at a surf shop/surfing instructor place and Jake's brother frequents
he gets into some accident and Ronnie takes him to the hospital, musing to herself about marrying him one day
according to movie jake's family shows up, they think she's his fiance, yadda yadda she falls in love with jake instead
her and brother almost get married but she can't go through with it
she ends up with jake instead
in this jake would come from a big family, and it's something that ronnie has always wanted since she only has brad

Honestly, I can't remember all that well.. I saw some stuff about Bluetie before I got too caught up in things, but aside from that, I don't think I've seen anybody other than you, Mandi, and Chesh.

He's also a figure of legend, being the last ruler of his kingdom! ... because he killed and ate everyone he ruled over, resurrected them, then used their living corpses to kill every other kingdom. But we forgive him!!

the first thing that comes to mind would be "hot & bothered". the teasing scene at the table during the meeting is very bold. i can see teasing between nicky and mc but in front of others who don't know them all that well is questionable. close 2nd would prob be the find the cannoli scene in vendetta but i'm not even embarrassed. it just makes me laugh or smile every time.

it should be "vendetta" bc there's drama, violence, action, and romance but i automatically thought of "let's get out of here". i wrote that before "vendetta" and it was challenging bc i had to make sure the movements were described accurately since it was in a moving car.

yeahhhh ... so a few months ago i had an idea for a nanami story {lemme just say that i truly was done writing fanfiction except for "vendetta" which was, and is, still unfinished as a series. i wanted to focus on ocs and original plots but i got swept away by nanami kento and just had to write smthn about him. i had severe brain rot}
i was inspired by this post i saw of men on their knees in front of women/their lovers and thought of nanami on his knees for his s/o, wtv the reason may be. the premise was that he was late for a special dinner at a fancy restaurant that they made reservations for months ago. he got held up at work and was going to meet mc there, but then told them to go on without him anyway. so he ends up meeting mc at their shared home and they're livid, just ready to lay it on him. they don't get the chance to bc as soon as he sees them sitting in the loveseat in their living room he's apologizing like crazy. mc doesn't have the heart to go off so they just do some light teasing instead. i imagine it would've went smthn like
"i don't believe you."
"how can i prove it to you?"
"you can beg."
he took a deep breath and walked toward you. he placed his hands over yours which were on the armrest then sank down to his knees. then he rested his face in your lap and brought your hands to his cheeks, "is this better?"

do it for yourself and not for others. don't worry about who will and won't see it. just write, don't think too much about how or when bc it'll come together in the end, and enjoy it.
💞 who's your comfort character?
i don't have one rn but since this is focused on fanfiction, i would say nicky and nanami. nicky just feels so familiar at this point and with nanami, he's so relatable. from my pov, he wants a simple life. he doesn't wanna work at an office and he doesn't really wanna work as a sorcerer. if anything, cooking at home and going to get bread from the bakery is all he wants to do most days {and travel from time to time} and that's very relatable.
🧠pick a character (howie) and i'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.
my favorite hc about howie is prob the boyfriend hc bc it's so wholesome. he'd really be the sweet and thoughtful boyfriend. the thought of mc being swallowed whole by his shirts and him wearing their shirt which is a smidge too tight 🥹
🤩who is your favorite character to write?
nicky! his personality really allows for this nice mix of playfulness and seriousness/melancholy. i admire his charm and wit as well. i loved writing the more hidden sides of his character too, like in "midnight" or "what are you hiding?" overall, he has this nice balance that gives me a lot of room to play with as a writer.
😬which of your fics would you be most horrified for friends, family, or coworkers to stumble upon?
definitely any of my nsfw works bc i'm reserved for the most part at work. it takes a while for me to open up completely so i think ppl would be like 'idk she was into that' or the complete opposite 'it makes since bc she's so quiet'. my friends wouldn't really care tbh, they'd prob make jokes or gimme ideas. my family?! 💀 i'd prob be doused in holy oil.
📚would you ever want to turn writing into a career?
yes! when i was younger i often thought it was a bad idea to pursue your passion as a career or major in college bc then you'd have deadlines and guidelines; and i saw that as a sorta crutch on my creative freedom as an artist but now i believe the complete opposite.
🤯what's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?
i would say fantasy. in terms of fanfiction, i've mainly written romance with a bit of drama and some action. i've tried writing fantasy before and it requires a bit more artistry - there's world building, figuring out the land, if there are animals, what kinda powers characters have, how magic works, and sm more.
💔is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?
if mc died before their wedding night. there's smthn about seeing a good-hearted person get what they deserve only to lose it in the end. i don't take joy in it, there's just some sort of unspeakable pain there where you can't look away.

So I've Started Formatting my Spells Like Studies
I have literally no idea if this will be useful to absolutely anyone, but I may as well throw it out here!
I don't know if it's university driving me utterly insane and affecting literally every area of my life, or if it's just my brain deciding that it needs organization, but lemme explain.
Up until a little bit ago, I pretty much wrote my spells like recipes, including the gigantic paragraph of unrelated rambling before I get to the good stuff. To an extent, I still do.
BUT
The thing with recipes is, you put a recipe up on your blog or in your recipe box when you've tried it and tested it and people have gushed about it, and you've figured out what works and what doesn't. Writing up a recipe feels kinda final to me. You've done your experimenting, you know what works, you know what it does. You can still mess around with it to get something new, but the base is done.
You don't write up a recipe until you've cooked the dish.
That's great! But it made me kinda scared to write up my spells and rituals. I kinda tend to come up with them suddenly, or at least the framework, and it may be days before I actually perform them, or I may do a simple version, intending to make changes and see how it works. My spell process isn't really ever finished, because I like to take the time to make adjustments.
I may have an idea for a self-love spell, and work it, and then realize that it makes me feel more confident. So I look back on my notes and see that some parts of it could work for confidence too! So i'll add some tiger's eye and see if I can make that aspect pop, without sacrificing the original self-love part.
SO
I started formatting my spells and rituals with trial and error in mind…like…a study
I do (basically):
Title (self-explanatory)
Why I’m making it/how I had the idea/any inspiration or research that I had beforehand
Intention/Purpose/What I expect to happen (hypothesis…but, not usually a proper If-Then statement, that’s a little stilted for my practice)
Materials: in a bulleted list (everything that’s needed to perform. I also usually note what I’ve personalized (ie sigils, hair, etc) or possible substitutions for specific materials (ie: I use ground Ivy for magical protection because it grows by my house, you could use white willow if it’s more easily available)
Method: another bulleted list, with longer form entries. (I go through and describe exactly what I do and in what order, from start to finish. How I prep the room, if it’s a jar how I put in my materials, what I’m doing *as* I do it, how do I clean up, how to store it or finish, etc)
Results: this is where I come back later and note how the working went for me. Did it work? Did it work as intended? What did happen? What are some reasons I might have gotten the results I did? Do I want to change anything? What might I alter? That helps me keep things open to tweaking when I feel I should!
Anyways! I thought this might be helpful for anyone else who looks at a blank notebook/word document that you want to use for spells and goes “oh shit I don’t have anything good enough to put here, when am I ever done?” You aren’t! But you still have all kinds of ideas and processes worth putting to paper! You can never be done and that’s kinda beautiful!
