Interesting! Meet the Helpercats!
Community Helper/Chelper - The most social of helpers. Has so many grudges and baggage behind that smile, but otherwise shares delicious heart-shaped bluefruits to anyone they meet who are friendly to them. Would threaten to break your spine if you're breaking the rules.
Challenge Verifier/Challfer - A helpercat who's been through a lot of knowledge and survival experience to judge the bravest of daredevils. May or may not be Hunter's cousin and may or may not have a crush on Arter. Lost their leg from one ridiculous challenge and has eaten cement.
Modding Helper/Modper - A helpercat who knows the ins and outs of technicalities when it comes to conjuring things into reality (rain world the game) with the power of C#. To conjure things, they just take it out of their stomach like Gourmand. Probably TF2 Engineer (i do not play tf2). They're quite passive and they like eating sandwiches as they dangle their feet over a high place.
Gameplay Helper Sisbros./Big and Lil Gameper - Sibling helpercats who know about the world of rain (specifically in this particular facility grounds). Might be time travelers which is why Lil Gameper is forever a bapy (idk time stuff) and Big Gameper looks dead inside. They care about each other a lot and they play mario kart.
Wiki Admin/Wiki - A mysterious helpercat who has big brain power. Kinda like an iterator but less depressed (and needs to be paid tbh) Uses tail to sit down and move about. They're like a strange creature wyvern. Very "erm acthually" but means well. Feels like Princess Celestia from mlp fim tbh
Art Helper/Artper - Extremely expressive and has a wildass imagination. They can change colors (they have vitiligo) and their brush paint also changes accordingly to their desires. May or may not have a crush on Challfer. Very air-headed and a lil emotional.
Server Staff Overseers - The display and color of the overseer is dependent on the staff member who is broadcasting!
Courier - Idk courier lore lol but they are a goober thats my hc

So from what I understand, the initial pitch for Invader Zim was that the main source of comedy was Zim thinking posing as an elementary school student was the best use of his time as a spy and making leaps of logic based on his lack of cultural knowledge. And we did certainly see stuff like that happen in the show, but I think over time there was a shift to more episodes focusing on the Zim/Dib rivalry or things going on in space that didn’t feature the skool setting at all or didn’t revolve around cultural misunderstandings to drive the plot. IDK if they did more of that in the comics, but here’s some ideas I feel were missed opportunities. Not including anything obvious like “skool dance” episode, or “forced to work with Dib on a project”.
1 - An episode that’s just Zim and Dib narrating short stories they wrote for a creative writing assignment. It might be low-hanging fruit for them to both write the same story of a real incident between them from either of their perspectives, or a self-insert wish-fulfillment fantasy about defeating one another. I kinda like the idea of Dib writing the kind of story he himself would enjoy, like a noir-style detective story with a supernatural twist or gothic horror ghost story. Zim would just copy a story told to him by GIR, which itself is a mangled retelling of something that happened on TV that neither of them actually understand, but no matter how ridiculous and nonsensical the plot was he’d read it like it was Shakespeare.
2 - Similarly, an episode that’s just Zim giving an oral presentation on a historical figure or event, but he gets a ton of stuff wrong due to misinterpretation, or mixing up factual sources with like, a historical fantasy. Like if he read TF2 lore and told the class that stairs were invented by Abraham Lincoln.
3 - Zim gets an exam/report card back and finds out he’s performing poorly, which makes him question whether he’s learned anything at all from all the time he’s spent gathering intel. He decides to put his plans for conquest on hold to spend more time studying, except he’s not studying anything actually assigned by the skool and nothing he learns is on his next test or useful for conquering the humans.
4 - Alternatively, Zim is warned that because of all his absences and poor performance he’s at risk of being expelled. Dib mocks him for it at the first, but then decides he’d rather not have to worry about what Zim’s getting up to all day while he’s stuck in class, so he decides to help Zim break into the server room for the skool’s computer system so they can change his report card, but because this is Zimworld the security system is ridiculously over-the-top and the stakes are a like a Die Hard movie.
5 - The skool needs a team to represent for an academic decathlon. Zim signs up because he wants to show off his superior intellect and Dib joins the team to keep an eye on him (and prove his superior intellect). Zim and Dib are the math and science experts while their other teammates specialize in different subjects but everyone except Zim at least knows enough about the other subjects to mostly get the answers right if they’re forced to answer something outside their specialty. Unfortunately all the questions Zim and Dib know the answers to go to their less science-minded teammates and they get stuck with all the insane questions about skinning moose and other lectures from Ms. Bitters that they didn’t pay attention to.
Either that, or they keep getting quizzed about pop culture trivia they don’t know because they don’t keep up with mainstream television. Zim ends up getting a question right that wins the game however because he remembered it from some insufferable show GIR watches constantly and everyone treats him like a fucking genius for it. Dib meanwhile is treated like an idiot for getting all the stupid pop-culture questions wrong.
6 - The class has to read some classic lit out loud and Zim’s over-the-top dramatic narration leads to him being asked to audition for the skool play. Zim scores the lead role and gets way too into method acting. To the point where Dib can’t even tell if he legitimately thinks he’s the character or if he’s just doing it to mess with him.
7 - Zim joins a skool club and quickly usurps the club’s leadership and rules over the other members with an iron fist, twisting it from its original purpose into just being a club dedicated to serving his whims/messing with Dib. It all falls apart for some stupid reason like one member leaving and forcing the club to dissolve because it didn’t have enough members or some forms not being filled out correctly or budget issues forcing a bunch of clubs to shut down. Meanwhile, Dib tries to start a paranormal club but can’t get any members and gets kicked out of every other club he joins for trying to steer it away from whatever its original purpose was to make it about the paranormal.
8 - Baseball/team sports episode. Zim and Dib are both actually pretty decent so their team begrudgingly puts up with them. They let their rivalry get in the way at first and don’t pay any attention to the skool’s rival team talking trash about their skool. Even when it turns into an 80s cliche where the skool will actually be closed if they don’t win the game they don’t care because it is a shit skool and if it closes they’ll just go somewhere else. It’s only when one of the rival team members interrupts Zim and Dib in the middle of their own little pissing contest that they finally get their act together and start strategizing with the rest of their team. They win and finally get a taste of what it’s like to be appreciated momentarily for carrying the team until everyone else finds out their shitty skool is staying open because of them.
9 - Some Yu-Gi-Oh/Magic-type card game becomes really popular and Zim decides to get into it to blend in and find a way to exploit it to gain power over the humans. Dib naturally gets in on it too and they get way too serious about it. It either becomes an over-the-top parody of Yu-Gi-Oh and its hyper-realistic holograms and battle arenas that turn card games into genuine life-threatening experiences for participants and audiences alike, or it satirizes the satanic panic by having some kind of reveal that all the cards are actually possessed by real supernatural spirits and the games are part of some nefarious third party antagonist’s plot to overrun the world with demons or something.

uhhh crack tenth class that im actually fleshing out and turning into a real characters
her name is Clifford and her class name is The Rex!!
i am now goingnto dinosaur nerd out about her under the cut
shes about 19 feet tall, which is larger than Scotty.(the biggest rex fossil found to date). theres a lot of lore she has thst is related to a tf2 world thing me and a friend are building
her legs are reinforced similarly to how Gray Mann's back was in the earlier showing of him in the comics, and her legs are reinforced like this so she could properly run (as rexes in real life were ambush predators due to them weighing so much that if they ran for more than a few seconds,their legs wouldve snapped.) The reinforcements were Engineer's idea, and Medic helped with putting them in.
to make her balanced, mercenaries do crits to her constantly, while othet rexes only do regular damage to eachother.
me and a friend also came up with the idea of petting her gives her 50 health back (she has 500 health normally, 600 overheal) but petting her takes a good minute and both the petter and clifford are stuck in place.
idk i love dinosaurs and tf2 so im combining them like a nerd lmao

So about Valentine's day I made up a head cannon about Pyro from TF2, and for some reason I mentally settled on them being an Irish woman with pyromania and an overactive imagination.
I also made up certain lore tidbits like them being banned from almost every national park in America (especially in California.) And the fact they haven't let anyone know their true identity, except for Medic and maybe Soldier by accident. I also gave them a name, Nollaig McCauley.
I'll probably draw a random reference image sometime. But I work most of the week so probably during the weekend IDK.

getting emotional because it’s finally hitting me that the l4d fandom is so small nowadays :c
don’t get me wrong, it was never a big fandom anyways, even years back when it was at its most active
it’s super awesome that there’s still people a part of it to this day!! people still are making content, whether it be sfm, art, writing, etc… but it hurts that there’s not much, let alone not much frequency either
i totally get it tho. it’s a damn near 15yr old game, and not to mention a game that was basically just killing zombies lol. it doesn’t have what most fandoms want— deep lore, a storyline, lots of characters, etc. it makes sense that the fandom side isn’t going to be super active, especially today. hell, i was absent from the fandom for about 9 years. i just recently got back into it about 2 months ago or so. life definitely gets in the way.
and like i said, at the end of the day it’s just a first person shooter game.
but l4d was one of my first obsessions. i’ve been in many fandoms before, but l4d is the only one that i genuinely clung to. i’ve never been so invested in characters like i have with the survivors (the si too!)
i saw someone say that even tho they love the game and characters, have so many ideas for fics and sfm and whatnot, it’s basically hard for them to continue because there’s just no sense of community feeling anymore… and it’s because there’s almost no community anymore. it’s so hard to admit and accept that :/
and what makes me even more sad in a way is that tf2 is still a huge fandom. that’s super fucking awesome, nothing wrong with that at all, but it makes me sad that one valve game is super popular still fandom wise, while the other one isn’t.
the game community side of it is still active— on average there’s about 20,000 people playing per day. the highest i’ve personally seen recently has been almost 40,000 people. that’s super cool for such an old game!! but the fandom part of the game is so empty..
hopefully as time goes on there will be older fans coming back like how i did, or even new ones finding the fandom side and sticking around! i really don’t want this fandom to completely die.. if it ever does, a piece of me will always feel missing. already does tbh. i know that sounds super fucking corny but fuck man idk i have yet to find anything that makes me feel like how this game and it’s characters do. no show, movie, any other game.. nothin.
but it’s hard to actively be part of something that already isn’t active because it feels like you’re talking to a wall. it’s lonely. you want someone to gush over everything with, share ideas, role play— the list goes on.
i plan on continuing my love for the game and it’s fandom, and all i can do is appreciate the ones who are still here, and hope n pray that there will be more people again someday <3

There’s a lot abt her intricate lore n stuff I’ve yet to prepare for reveal but !! Her introduction is actually rather simple!
Natalie was first encountered in an abandoned lab somewhere off in New Mexico, one the Administrator had her eye on due to the lab’s rumored involvement in testing ways to make synthesized Australium. The building was supposed to be empty, hence the simple fetch quest given to the team, but it turns out both a young girl and very shoddy security system still resided in it.
The original plan was to leave her there after collecting info or at least figure out somewhere to put her, but a surprise triggering of the security system cut the investigation short, resulting in Nat being brought back to base.
Nobody was quite sure what to do with her. Her mother was nearly impossible to reach, and the journey from New Mexico all the way to her home state of Ohio was far to much to immediately put a traumatized 15 year old through all by herself, so ultimately she was kept around and shenanigans ensue. Idk man I’m writing this at 1 am

So since you asked in the tags of like, one post I think, what is Emesis blue? (I think it was?), it looks interesting the art you reblogged looks really cool :D (totally rant I love hearing/seeing people talk about things they love)

YAYYY!!! okokok so emesis blue is a dark, gritty, fairly gory (by the medium’s standards i think) full length sfm (<- source filmmaker, the program) movie about tf2 (kind of). it’s fairly confusing due to the juggling of time and space (multiple characters are directly affected by their future/past selves being in the same vicinity) but the lighting and direction is INCREDIBLE. this is the community known for like… heavy is dead. it’s absolutely incredible.
for the story… i can’t really tell you much because i barely got it. it draws quite a bit from tf2 comics lore, which im not fluent in at all, so that makes it a bit harder. here’s the tvtropes (i know i know) description:
“On Halloween Night of 1968, a high-ranking executive of the Builders League United Corporation mysteriously vanishes in Mortem, New Mexico. A private detective and a washed-up war veteran team up to find him, yet the man they hunt is more dangerous than they can possibly imagine.
At the same time, the patient of a local doctor is abducted from his home, his mother having been brutally murdered by an unknown assailant. The doctor searches for him on his own, only to find himself caught up in a conspiracy that he may or may not be involved with.
When their paths cross, terror and death ensue, brought about by a horror that challenges the sanity and true natures of the characters involved.”
^ so that gives you a basic rundown. most of the story takes place inside conagher slaughterhouse, a place as pleasant as it sounds. this is where time and space get all fucky and i LOVE IT. the location is creepy and complicated and you have very little hope for any characters surviving. oh yeah. don’t get too attached to ANYONE. (<- SOBS in favorite died). most of the stuff i’ve reblogged is spoilers anyways but i would totally still watch it. it’s . AUGH. it definitely helps to have maybe the wiki open for reference when they talk about diff characters? or maybe write them down? there’s 3 engineers in this and my brain can’t differentiate ANY of them so i was realllyyy lost for a minute. uhhhh mmmm yeah!!!! the beginning scene when scouts mother is murderer and the very ending scene are my favorites. it all sort of ties together and it’s so so excellent.

you seem to be an affluent tfposter with correct opinions so i will complain a little. i love demoman. he is my favourite character. out of every tf2 character, he has the most writing, lore, backstory, personality... he is an extremely interesting character that i enjoy heavily and i love seeing content featuring him A Lot. which is why i am so pissed off about how the community dumbs him down to a drunkard or just brushes him off entirely. what could be the reason of this i wonder!
YESSS YES! I've been talking abt this for like. the whole time I've had this blog LMAO it suckssss and it's so super present once u notice it. I know not everyone is gonna love Demo the way I do which is okay! But like just bc you don't Love a character doesn't mean u need to treat him like that lmao. Besides the like. complete reduction of his character to "alcoholic and nothing more" I ALSO notice like. people's tendencies to make him lazier, more aggressive, more "stupid", etc. than he's ever really presented to be in canon (so many of the comics work So hard to show that like. off of work he's a Completely normal guy), which is of course the double-edged sword of fandoms being weird about addicted characters and fandoms being weird about black characters. Sometimes I just feel like. idk! Play the game! Read the comic(s)! Ur getting his joke wrong if you think it begins and ends at "drunk". He gets all the genuinely cool lines like "this begins my thousand-year reign of blood" and you people want to take that from him. Sad!

similar to the other anon, i was doing contracts with some friends during scream fortress and i would always refer to hhh as silas, which only made communication worse as said friends arent as read on tf2 lore. it was only when one friend just asked "hey why do you call hhh silas???" that i realized it lol. tf2 lore fixation does things to a person
haha, really it does make me happy that more folks are getting into Mann family lore, I definitely have themannfamily/_MBrothers to thank for putting Silas into my head and giving him such a distinctive personality
I still have moments where I remember like. oh yeah. these guys I'm completely obsessed with barely any presence in canon at all. and yet like, idk, the fact that they're also so important too, that these glimpses of characters really set the stage of everything to follow, adds a lot to their intrigue... it's good, I would love for more people to talk about them
