Happy Birthday Cate Blanchett
Today, this great actress, producer, activist & mother turns 53 years old.
I know you will never read it, but, I just want to thank the light that you radiate towards me making my day bright and less depressing. Thank you for making me discover my sexuality when I was still a girl. Thank you for giving ALL of you in each character and for being an example for me.
LONG LIVE THE QUEEN OF LESBIANS 💕

(  hannah waddingham,  cis woman,  she/her  )  —  🎬  just  announced,  prudence 'prue' atkinson  has  been  cast  as  miranda priestly  in  the  upcoming the devil wears prada  reboot.  the  fifty-one  year  old  is  trending  as  people  are  debating  if  the  swaying hips, pencil skirts, charming smile, the smell of chanel nr. 5, the colors of the polyamorous flag  that  they  are  known  for  is  enough  to  make  them  as  good  as  original.  a  quick  google  search  shows  that  their  fans  call  them  confident,  but  internet  trolls  think  they’re  more  attention-seeking.  i  guess  their newest  interview  for  variety  where  they  talk  about  coming out in the nineties  will  let  people  to  know  them  better.  (  storm,  26,  gmt+1,  they/them)
born in 1973 to a nurse and a bank teller, prudence grew up in a very normal household, she didn't have everything her heart desired but she had a nice childhood.
she loved acting from an early age so it wasn't a surprise she tried very hard to get into the industry at a young age. her parents didn't stand in her way, but didn't help her either. her career started in 80s commercials as a teenager and she had some very small guest roles as a teenager. she thought she wasn't going to get anywhere and almost decided to become a hairdresser.
on a whim, she auditioned with a videotape for xena: the warrior princess and GOT IT. in 1995, she started in her role as gabriella, which would change her life forever. not only did she gain a queer following, it also made her comfortable to come out publicly in 1998 as - at that time - bisexual. now, she identifies as pansexual.
her career seemed dead before it even started because of her coming out but prue found her niche acting in big and small queer productions until she landed a role in mulholland drive, a movie that went on to be a great success.
after that, she landed the role of alice pieszecki in the l word which solidified her status as a queer, most notably lesbian, icon. it was also in that period she got together with the woman who is still her partner to this day (wanted connection alert)
she never got married, doesn't have any kids, and just loves to enjoy life. last year, she made it public knowledge that she is in an open relationship after rumors she was cheating on her partner - which she most certainly wasn't.
she isn't the biggest star, but she is certainly well known, and now, being cast as miranda priestly is her biggest, most mainstream role in years. carol was only a blip, really - but this was a very big movie back in the day. it is terrifying to step into such big shoes, but she is ready to fill them.

Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in Carol (Todd Haynes, 2015)
Cast: Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Kyle Chandler, Sarah Paulson, Jake Lacy, John Magaro, Cory Michael Smith, Kevin Crowley, Nik Pajic. Screenplay: Phyllis Nagy, based on a novel by Patricia Highsmith. Cinematography: Edward Lachman. Production design: Judy Becker. Film editing: Affonso Gonçalves. Music: Carter Burwell.
With her Mamie Eisenhower bangs and heart-shaped face, Rooney Mara in Carol becomes the reincarnation of such '50s icons as Audrey Hepburn, Jean Simmons, and Maggie McNamara -- particularly the McNamara of The Moon Is Blue (Otto Preminger, 1953), that once-scandalous play and movie about a young woman who defies convention by talking openly about sex while retaining her virginity. It's just coincidence that Carol is set at the end of 1952 and into 1953, the year of the release of The Moon Is Blue, but the juxtaposition of McNamara's Patty O'Neill and Mara's Therese Belivet seems to me appropriate because the 1950s have become such a touchstone for examining our attitudes toward sex. Director Todd Haynes and screenwriter Phyllis Nagy, adapting a novel by Patricia Highsmith, have done an exemplary job in Carol of not tilting the emphasis toward Grease-style caricature or Mad Men-style satire of the era, or exploiting the same-sex relationship in the film for sensationalism or statement-making. Carol is a story about people in relationships, clear-sightedly viewed in a way that Therese herself would endorse. After asking her boyfriend Richard (Jake Lacy) if he's ever been in love with a boy and receiving a shocked reply that he's only "heard of people like that," Therese replies, "I don't mean people like that. I just mean two people who fall in love with each other." It's this matter-of-factness that the film tries to maintain throughout its story of Therese and Carol (Cate Blanchett), the well-to-do wife in a failing marriage. That the film is set in the 1950s, when cracks were showing in the conventional attitudes toward both marriage and homosexuality, gives piquancy to their relationship, but it doesn't limit it. The story could be (and probably is) playing itself out today in various combinations of sexual identity. The film works in large part because of the steadiness of Haynes at the helm, with two extraordinary actresses at the center and beautiful support from Sarah Paulson as Abby, Carol's ex-lover, and Kyle Chandler (one of those largely unsung actors like the late Bill Paxton who make almost everything they appear in better) as Carol's husband, the hard-edged Harge Aird. The sonic texture of the 1950s is splendidly provided by Carter Burwell's score and a selection of classic popular music by artists like Woody Herman, Georgia Gibbs, Les Paul and Mary Ford, Perry Como, Eddie Fisher, Patti Page, Jo Stafford, and Billie Holiday.

( text ; @julimargs ) both consenting adults, both hopelessly falling for each other regardless of anything outside that, harmless. You’re speaking more sense then I’ve heard in a few hours, god it’s refreshing. I knew my babe would..
( text ) you’re telling me. It’s what even gravitated me towards the offer, being told Bradleys storyline was being based of a close friend of hers who came out later on in life and quite frankly I just thought it was such a under-told story, honourable even. It’s a scattered mess, just how Laura feels for Bradley but I as Julianna wanna be selfish and get more scenes with Jen. Aha, and as co-producer would you also possibly come cast yourself as someone who’s a lot more level headed and who’ll easily get into Laura’s mind and pants ? cause I know you know your way around..
( text ) I / was / wearing a robe but I spilt some wine…or maybe it’s just getting a little too heated, who knows. I have a black slip on, the silky kind, the kind that makes it better to take slowly take off. So, you can imagine i wish I had another pair of hands just so I could watch. You know, the boring hotel nights 😉 don’t be, quite simply there’s no one else able to make my night half as better as you have already….as much as I do wish I were letting those legs of yours rest on mine
(text) just to be clear you have all the consent to fall in love with me and do whatever you want with me. Now, back to the topic, I know you will speak out, you will tell them what you need and think is better for your character; a character you have constructed from zero and have made of it an icon. Carol Aird and Laura Peterson are two characters that are supposed to change the point of view towards queer women, away from stereotypes, and just you and I know how much it means to us. Jennifer is a sweetheart and such a professional, I would love to see you in more scenes with her.
(text) I would be honored to play someone opposite Laura Peterson, learn and work with my favorite actor aka Julianna Margulies and if I get to get in their mind and pants, well, it would be much better.
(text) what a shame that you are all alone, it's hot there and you need help to take off that slip... damn it! I hate this stupid distance between us. I wish I could fly to you and get under your sheets, making everything even better for you.
