Blood On The Ice - Literate Roleplay

Blood On The Ice is an apocalyptic ice age roleplay group based upon the concept created by Todd Normandy.

In the year 2010 global temperatures began to drop abnormally low. Snowy owls became a common sight, crows grew thicker feathers for warmth. Animals started hibernating and/or migrating early, only to never return and if they did it was to search for food. Crops became harder to grow, and thick fogs that one would normally encounter in the Autumn months had started appearing in the Summer as well. Most people speculated that they were going to have a cold period that would last a couple years tops, while some thought this was the start of something much worse.

In 2012 storms began to rage bringing with them snow, ice, and temps far below freezing. With these blizzards came once thought to be extinct megafauna making a sudden appearance. These megafauna rampaged all over the world, destroying cities, killing anyone they came across, and making it harder for their modern day counterparts to survive in this sudden harsh new world.

A new ice age had begun, and now it was 10 years after it had started. Society as the world had known it had collapsed, and cities were now left in ruins. 90% of the world's human population had been killed, and the modern day counterparts to the megafauna weren't fairing much better. Many feared it was the end of the world as they had known it. While others formed factions during the past decade and began to work on restoring the world to it's former glory, or in the case of some factions; remake the world in their image. You're caught in the middle of it all, what do you do, and how do you plan to survive this cold and dangerous new world?

Unfortunate Occurrence

Draigh sighed and quickly ran over to the table where one of the potions went off. It was a newer student Val. He let out another sigh and started to care for the wound. "This will need proper care, let me take you to my office, I have something to help with that. Class is dismissed." He mumbled, with his stoic nature it was hard to tell if He truly cared or not. However, he was gentle with her. He sat her down in his office and started to look through his things to help her. "Can you tell me what went wrong Miss Valentine?" He asked her, his green eyes locked on her as he prepared aid for her.

Draigh was a handsome man, much like his brother, however, he was more masculine than the other. His silver hair hanging in his face. The sheer shirt only showed off his body more. The man had more muscle build than a warlock usually had. He ranges in warrior status. He sighed and sat up. His eyes flashed red as he shook his head as if to shake away the red eyes. "I hope you have a good...reason...for...disrupting class.." He mumbled as if fighting through each word.

Nighttime settled aboard the icy ship, the ocean waves crashing against its hull and rocking it like a mother would their child’s crib. Everyone on board was asleep at the midnight hour. Everyone except for Captain Gutt. He would have been asleep by now if not for a particular sloth slash hostage tied up to one of the masts. He glowers from a nearby perch, letting out a soft growl in annoyance as he takes note of Sid’s sleeping habits. He was snoring, occasionally muttering obnoxious yet incoherent strings of words. One of his three-toed feet even thumped against the deck of the ship a few times, causing even more noise. It was a good thing he was tied up as well, otherwise he would be floundering on deck like a fish fresh out of the water. Maybe it would have served better to have him overboard.

The ape’s shoulders tense when Sid’s occasional noises formed into silence, now watching with malice as he wakes up from his sleep in a startle. Sid blinks a few times, eyes darting around and sensing that he was being watched by something…or someone. The fact that the sloth was uneasy made Gutt somewhat satisfied, yet it simply was not enough; he wanted to give a warning they would remember. Grabbing a nearby bone dagger, Gutt aims before hurling it with swift force, the blade now lodged in the wood just above the poor sloth’s head. Sid shrieks from having a weapon thrown at him, looking around with his heart hammering in his chest as the captain drops down with a heavy thud.

Gutt’s face emerged from shadow, the pale moonlight and reflections from the ice around them casting it in an eerie bluish light. His large, scruffy form loomed over Sid, being at eye-level with the sloth while giving him an observant once-over. Sid meanwhile held his breath, seeing Gutt lean forward a little too close and bear uneven teeth to him while he dislodged the blade from the mast. Gutt shushes Sid before the sloth could say any words in protest, pointing the tip of the sharp bone near his neck.

" Shhhshsh, quiet. No more noise from you aboard my ship tonight, sloth, or I won’t hesitate to throw you overboard. Do you understand? You better, or your days will be numbered... "

The sloth nods in quick succession at the ape's very evident threat, not wanting to cause trouble while aboard this ship. While they technically were being held hostage, it was slightly better than the situation they were in before. Gutt’s smile grows bigger and more menacing, glad that he was wise to follow his orders. Without another word, he slips back into the dark of night as quickly as he appeared, leaving Sid to be left alone with his thoughts.

Almost from the moment their head was returned to their body, they knew the feel of the hands that touched them. Reforming themself was a strange process, made stranger still by feeling the Ring itself being mended within them, both concluding an unknown amount of time later; it felt as if both years and moments had passed. Unsurprisingly, cracks and crevasses remained within their flesh (one did not shatter a metaphysical foundation without consequence), but they didn't expect the form they found themself in.

Leanly muscled and yet gently curved, neither Marika nor Radagon, yet both. Tresses betwixt golden and crimson tumbled over their shoulders and down their back, bangs falling haphazardly around their face. A self they had never shown any other. Finding no strength to prevaricate within them, the God of Order turned weary golden eyes to him, almost managing a smile. Leaned upon their hammer, that which had waged wars now supporting a body no-longer used to form, they spoke with a voice no-longer used to speech.

"...And now, thou knowest mine truth, my Lord."
