    UNSETTLED IN HIS DESK, THE boy couldn’t help the rapid response.  “WHAT?” eyes wide, he couldn’t believe what she was saying. Was this true? Did there had to be MORE deaths? Adam’s gaze traveled to where the front of the classroom, to Mister Kaiser, making sure he hadn’t been loud enough to disrupt. Hunching over a little more, trying to remain unperceived, he lowered his voice before speaking again. Brow creased, there was a prick across his temple starting to dull.  

           “Are you kidding me?” Adam whispered. Eyes narrowing and his head beginning to pulse.

“Did you really call the police?”

Adam’s lips pressed themselves shut, nervous gaze lifting to where the young man before him, trying to make sure HE hadn’t heard Alex too. That the words hadn’t come out of his mouth. “I’m– I’m sorry.”  Adam said, brokenly. Blue eyes avoiding direct contact with him. Hiding what he’d just heard his late friend say.  “I don’t think I’m feeling very well.”
