Oh, absolutely! Given the recent influx of new shippers, I think it's important to bring up a lot of other important moments, not just the kiss(es)! There are plenty more where these come from, but the following are just my favorites in no particular order!
The First and Second Kiss

You heard me right, folks! There actually were three kisses, but one of them was a head kiss (later in the list). It's just as cute as the other two, but if we're talking lip kisses, there's only two of those... for now😉

The Ass Smack
Dude, I remember this blew my mind when it happened the first time. This happened a few months before the first kiss so this was probably the biggest moment that had happened in the fandom at the time. I remember us not being able to shut up about it!
He did slap Ian's ass before in this video a couple months before this one, but it was no where near as influential.
The Ghost Reenactment
If you all haven't seen the 1990 classic romance movie "Ghost..." then what the heck are you doing with your life? It's a tear-jerker, but it's worth the watch especially if you love 80s and 90s media like I do!
Anyways, there's a scene in the movie where they make pottery together. I think this speaks for its self.

I love this so much because when you take away the context and just look at this clip for what it is... wow.
From just how close they're standing to each other, how Ian asks where Anthony is, how Anthony calmly replies to him, and how Anthony puts his hand extremely close to Ian's face which looks like he's putting it on Ian's face with the silhouettes...dead. Just dead.

teacher au fake dating mashup ianthony? 🥰
Okay! So!
Imagine that Ian and Anthony work in the same school district as teachers. Anthony teaches like 4th or 5th grade and Ian teaches 8th grade. Ian is primarily a history teacher and can come off as kind of serious. Anthony is absolutely goofy and his students love him, they all call him Mr. P. He dresses up for all the fun days in the elementary and the parents think he's nice.
Anyways, so let's say during the beginning of summer break there is a mandatory teacher conference that requires some light traveling and an overnight stay. The district is requiring that all teachers pair together and buddy up for a hotel room, etc.
There is a para-professional teacher that is going to the conference and she has a huge crush on Anthony. Anthony had her child in his class a couple of years ago, loves the kid, finds it would be inappropriate to start anything with a former parent, but doesn't want to hurt her feelings. The Para-Pro is angling to share a room with Anthony during the trip and Anthony has been avoiding her so she doesn't ask and make things awkward.
Cue drama teacher Mx. Miller sitting in the teacher's lounge with Anthony and helping him come up with ideas to avoid ending up sharing a room with the para. He frets over a cup of tea while Courtney is like "Just tell her you are already seeing someone?"
"I don't think she would be deterred."
"What if she thinks you're dating another teacher here?"
Just as Anthony is about to ask who Courtney thinks he should pretend to date, Mr. Hecox enters the lounge to use the bathroom and grab his third cup of coffee from the lounge Kuerig.
Courtney's got this devious smile and Anthony's eyes widen. Mr. Hecox is so serious, and they hardly talk. Apparently Courtney and Mr. Hecox are friends from college and he helped her get her job in the district, so she asks him if he has a partner for the conference trip and Ian bristles a little and says no, but he seems nervous and maybe a little anxious.
They have to return to their classes, but Anthony frets about it all night as Courtney texts him encouraging him to talk about the idea with Ian the next day at school during his lunch break.
Cue the next day and Anthony thinks maybe he can at least ask Mr. Hecox - Ian- if they can partner up for the trip and skip the whole fake dating angle. Mr. Hecox is in the break room at the same time as yesterday, making coffee, and Anthony thinks of how to broach the subject with him, like, "Hey, heard you also don't have a partner for this conference trip?"
And really, Ian and he haven't talked much. Anthony's got on a bright sweater and he's wearing pipe-cleaner bracelets a couple of his students made for him during inside recess.
Ian's like, "I don't have anyone, no."
Anthony's like, "I was wondering if you wanted to..."
But then the door to the lounge opens and there is the para-pro and her eyes light up as she spots Anthony and makes a beeline right for him.
"Mr. P!" she says brightly, "I've been looking for you."
Ian looks like he wants to cut and run and Anthony widens his eyes at him in a pleading manner.
Para sweetly asks him to room with her at the conference with a lack of tact and subtlety. Anthony panics.
"I can't, sorry, I'm rooming with Mr. Hecox, here."
"You are?" she asks surprised.
Ian gives him an equally surprised look.
"Yeah, and...I mean, please don't spread it around, but we're kind of...a thing?" Anthony adds, improvising and he loosely holds Ian's hand at the coffee maker.
The Para's face falls but she nods in disappointment and slinks away.
Anthony lets go of Ian's hand and Ian is like "Uhhh?"
Then Anthony apologizes a bunch and explains the situation and he completely understands if Ian thinks he's a giant creep.
Ian laughs it all off and says he'd still be happy to room with Anthony for the conference.
Then the para absolutely does NOT keep quiet about the dating situation and as the trip begins everyone is whispering about how Mr. P and Mr. Hecox are dating and whoops now everyone thinks they are a couple and they are sharing a room, and while the para is on the trip with them and around they have to also act like a couple.
Cue misunderstandings and one saving the other a seat at the trainings. Anthony buys Ian coffees and matchas for gifts. They talk about what inspired them to start teaching and what they love about their respective grades and subjects.
Over the trip Anthony develops a real crush on Ian and that is surprising and kind of a bad thing?? He has to remind himself that it isn't real, that he's just pretending, and when the trip is over it will all go back to normal.
Last day of the trip and maybe they go for a hike or something and maybe they stop at a peak and the sun is setting, and they share a kiss. Each person is apologetic, but then they realize they don't really want to stop pretending to be dating. They decide when they get back from the trip to try it all out for real.
Everyone is extremely happy for them and they think Ian shines a little brighter now that he starts dating Anthony, and that Anthony himself seems even gigglier and happier too.

i've seen people talk about shaymien drifting apart and missing their dynamic- since i know you love them both dearly, what are your thoughts on this?
oh dear anon, idk if you know what you’ve signed up for letting me ramble about them. hiding this under a cut bc it will probably be very long and also like tw speculation
so i’m basically rewording what i sent in an emotional, pms-infused series of messages to my bestie arrow @feral-teeth. i have been making connections and conclusions in my head where i’m having to step back and realizing they’re so parasocial, but i think i just emotionally connect to both shayne and damien so much that it “all” has a deeper meaning to me. keep in mind that this all just thoughts i’ve had as a viewer, it’s not me trying to say that any of this is factual or encouraging anyone to pry. don’t do that please (i, avery smoshpvnk, do not endorse the act of harassing real people with my speculative thoughts of them)
my over-emotional Shaymien Thoughts™️ have progressed with my obsession, mainly looking at the wavelengths over the course of their friendship how they’ve been close, then a little more distant, close, then a little more distant. i don’t have a set in stone timeline for it ofc, especially compared to like dan and phil where we have very solid chronological factors to make sense of things, but a rough outline: so random, they become best friends. they eventually become roommates for a little while. damien moves in with an ex and they drift for a bit while shayne gets miscellaneous roles and eventually books with smosh. shayne opens the door for damien at smosh.
from the get go they’re already a solid duo like in show with no name episodes, we see them closer with the damien and shayne show - so many good moments!!!, smosh pit weekly, then into the mythical era still with a good dynamic like in tntls and stuff. eventually we get hacking off mini series (iconic and under appreciated) that starts in 2019. then they seem to still have a good, standout dynamic through the pandemic videos. hacking off comes back for a bit about 2021. there’s also some GREAT moments from like twitch / heavy baf era (basically the time when saige is there) about them seeming really close, chaotic, having fun (ex. quelf, uno, game of life) there was also a stream damien did (12/14/21) where shayne came to his apartment (that i didn’t know about until recently??? i would die for the vod)
we get closer to the renaissance aka anthony’s back era with stuff like baf legacy series (where damien is touchy with shayne as expected, and also i know at the end of the series he is proud of everyone for the commitment and character work but the way he looks at shayne, kill me) ⬇️

then, the damien and shayne show revival! that’s where damien unintentionally clears up their timeline in a sense, and it’s cute how he gives a sappy monologue about him and shayne’s friendship. it’s really sweet even though damien did make a joke at the end to deflect from it.
i watched the video when it released, and admittedly i haven’t been a recent (as in last 5 years) smosh watcher since about august, but after this, i have just noticed a bit more of a decline in “joint content” with them. the space in which we have had videos with them together since then and especially this year has been admittedly lengthy. i have respect for my fellow rarepair shippers like how we all experienced the spommy drought, but i feel like with shaymien we have an extensive history of “canon” content rather than more consistent, current content, compared to like ianthony for example where we get to see their dynamic all the time. or anyone + the frequent cast members like shayne, ian, courtney. (i don’t really count shour/tney as a ship bc it’s real and like, not to be touched how i see it. but you do you.) even the ones we’ve got, they haven’t been seated together. (except for smosh mouth, but like, that’s the guest chair.)
could this be because damien is just busy outside of smosh? of course it could. in streams and through social media posts, you can see/tell/hear that he has been traveling, auditioning and working a LOT. i feel like with smosh videos though, besides maybe through the delay of sword af, there wasn’t a huge, monumental difference that oh, damien isn’t in videos as much. like it seems a bit more balanced i guess or less noticeable. but also, shayne has been in a ton of videos this year already, so why haven’t they been casted together with how frequently we see them in videos normally??
we get the we found our so random scripts smosh mouth episode. hallelujah shaymien is reborn. right?
idk, this could be me just totally misinterpreting, but i feel like ever since about the “decline” after the d&s show returns video, i feel like there’s a bit of a disconnect. and now this is me being incredibly parasocial and self projecting, but because i relate to damien so much, i can kind of tell that he is the kind of friend that puts in the majority of the work when it comes to upholding a relationship. is this true for all of his relationships? i have no fucking clue. but it’s something i’ve noticed with shaymien specifically. how they just don’t interact the same or bounce off each other as much as they used to.
i got a comment on one of my compilations that started more of a spiral for me:

is this true? who knows, i’m not gonna try to look into it too much, but from what i’ve seen, it makes sense. extremely speculative: surely we would have gotten photos? unless it was actually really small and limited, but why would shelby young post about it then? same with renfaire. you’re telling me they both went but didn’t even meet up?
anyway, it breaks my heart. not just in a shipper sense. at the end of the day, i really just want what’s best for them, i love their friendship and i can admire a relationship being only platonic but so strong. i have a thing for duos and always have because my lack of having a best friend throughout my life. anyway
from what i’ve seen as a viewer: you can tell damien ADORES shayne. ofc in our little alternate universes we take it a step further for fictional fantasy fun purposes, but on camera, you can tell he loves shayne so much. they both have seemingly gone through some rough shit, been very vulnerable, and grew up from being 20 and 21 together - so young and figuring out the world. i believe damien’s dad died around the so random time, and being a young adult moving to la to become an actor, mental health, neurodivergence and therapy, weight issues (me coded!! damien is me!!), relationships, etc. and through 13 years, shayne has been a constant.
you can tell how grateful damien is that shayne has been there, proud of how far he’s come, and what they’ve done together. (again, he kind of summarizes it in the d&s show revival.)
how can you tell?
1.) because of how he looks at shayne when shayne isn’t looking back. the way damien looks at shayne in the smosh mouth episode makes me want to BAWL.
the heart eyes haas is INTENSE. it’s just so tender, loving, sappy, sentimental and sweet—the intimacy of getting to be nostalgic with someone about a very niche, specific time of your life is such a concept to me. only damien and shayne know what it was like to constantly be asked “where’s demi?” then have that moved to “where’s anthony?” from so random to smosh. only they (okay, and maybe some other so random cast members) know what it was like to be a “special guest” for all the episodes and never have a solidified position on a goddamn disney channel show, or what the on set pranks were like, or who the makeup artist was that made you look dead.
damien is the one to mention the “metaphysical soulmate radar”. damien is the one to say it was their big break, just not in the way they thought “for friendship and good connections”. if you are Unwell like me about them, there is still the lowkey amanda playing the third wheel bc they’ve known each other for so long dynamic, but it’s different compared to like, bad 2 sentence horror stories.
2.) how he makes references and talks about shayne when he isn’t even there (recently, jackbox video with smosh theme where he did shayne’s bananas on monday joke). a semi recent stream where a character’s name was shane and he said there was no correlation and got all 🥰 (https://www.tumblr.com/queenofcaradelle/741683580962521088/hellers-brothers)

PHOTOS. where the focus is just the two of them. the vidcon post from last year where damien shared the text exchange “WE are awful 😌”.
AND DAMIEN’S POST ABOUT SHAYNE’S FUCKING BIRTHDAY. HELLO???
also, i stalked damien’s instagram (not promoting to do that, but i did it) and he is a very, like, proud and happy lover of people! like he wants to shout about them from rooftops! i wasn’t in this fandom for saige era, and damien has deleted those public photos from his instagram, but the photos come up on pinterest for me - they’re very cute, sweet and proud.

4.) even how he touches shayne: damien is a VERY touchy feely person and usually ghosts his hands or gives very light touches to others, but with shayne, it’s a full grab, it’s a grip on the shoulder, it’s an initiated hug. it’s “heart of the cards” with a bro handshake that shayne thinks is gonna be a high five but damien holds his hand and forces it still. even when he knows a touch wouldn’t necessarily be appropriate, with shayne, damien’s inner thoughts just seem to win so he ghosts it (ex. hacking off where shayne has oreo on his mouth and damien pretends like he’s gonna wipe it off)

damien just loves him so hard and so genuinely. and again, this is only speculation, but especially as of lately, it does not seem that shayne reciprocates that much admiration.
i know exactly how it feels to be damien. to need a person in your life that you can be 100% yourself with, without holding yourself back, because otherwise you feel like you’re going crazy. how you can love and appreciate someone so much it becomes obsessive. that person, that relationship, becomes a core part of your identity. how even if it’s not necessarily romantic, you can develop strong crushes on people that feel so intense and overbearing. how you want to spend so much time with them, envision the two of you becoming so close, jealousy making you really hard on yourself.
i know, and maybe damien does too, what it’s like to be the one who gives 75% in the relationship when the other person is giving 25%. the 75% person is trying so hard to keep it alive when it doesn’t seem like the other one is giving the same amount of effort, and disappointingly, unceremoniously, and ultimately — it fades away or crashes and burns.
i feel like the smosh mouth episode, as beautiful as it is, is a great example. how there is some good back and forth between them, but i feel like it’s heavily dependent on only so random nostalgia, which is great, but it’s not a lot of new information. we know they became friends from being on so random. it’s like finding one common thing you and a coworker have and being forced to work together on it to produce a result. again, i love that episode, i watched it the second it came out and blocked the world out to watch it. and maybe i need to watch it back to squash the little voice in the back of my head saying their dynamic is different now, or maybe i need to watch it again to make that voice louder, or maybe i shouldn’t even touch it bc it will break my heart to analyze.
ofc this is only based on what we see. maybe shayne just isn’t a pda person at all (not just touch, i mean other methods too like the 5 love languages. see: my edit of shaymien x everything i know about love by laufey) or damien’s is so strong it makes his look like nothing (again about the 75/25 though.)
maybe their friendship is absolutely blossoming privately and we don’t see it. maybe they will drift apart for a bit but come back together in an amazing way. maybe their friendship is so strong that it can overcome a (presumed) not speaking period like ianthony. or maybe it isn’t. maybe their friendship isn't as strong anymore because of them being busy with other things, or being on different walks of life (ex. shayne just got married which is presumably taking up a lot of time)
i don't mean that to negate any of damien's accomplishments ofc like boi is successful, but it must be hard in a way to have your best friend hitting such a huge milestone when you're just... with 2 cats. not getting to be with him as much anymore. drifting away from a relationship you thought would last forever. stuck caring so much more than the other person does. understanding that life must go on and so do people but it’s a sad event.
i know that, for me, staying busy and forcibly mindful and in the moment/present (working WAY too much) where you don't even have a choice to stop and think and be in your head sometimes just numbs it and makes you forget, and damien has seemed so busy lately. i’m glad he said in his tuesday 4/23 stream that he plans on taking a break soon and that it doesn’t feel bad to be busy. he’s an adult, he can handle his own life, i’m not trying to baby him.
also, i don’t mean to blame shayne or anyone else for my (admittedly silly) little perceptions of some guys from a youtube channel i love. this is, again, all entirely speculative.
my heart hurts thinking about the potential of them not being best friends anymore, of the lack of content we have seen with both of them recently, of my own perception of how much shayne means to damien. don’t listen to mitski (especially francis forever) and think about shaymien at the same time. but if you do, you better meet me in my dms. don’t think about how we’ve gotten, what, 4 videos with them both this year and it’s already almost may. don’t think about how we haven’t seen anything from shayne to damien lately and how it’s all been damien /about/ shayne, mostly indirectly.
who knows what’s going on. but either way, shayne is a big part of damien’s life. thanks for letting me get on my shaymien soapbox 🫡

Revenge Kiss! (Ianthony)
Laughter echoed through the Smosh office as the cast prepared for their next video.
During the "Who Slapped Me?" video, Ian had creased Anthony’s Face, So Anthony was determined to even the score he had to get Ian back for it, Anthony hatched a devious plan that involved an unforgettable kiss.
As the cast and crew gathered in the main studio, Anthony's mischievous grin hinted at his hidden agenda. The crew members exchanged knowing glances, eager to witness the climax of Anthony's revenge.
Ian explained the rules of their new challenge to the cast. "Alright, everyone. I'll be blindfolded, and each of you will take turns giving me a quick kiss on the lips. Let's see if I can guess who it is!"
The cast formed a circle, and Ian, blindfolded, braced himself for the game ahead. took their turns, leaving him momentarily puzzled as he tried to identify each kisser.
As the round progressed, Anthony's heart raced with anticipation. He knew his revenge would be the most memorable of them all. With a twinkle in his eye, he stepped forward, ready to execute his plan. Ian had no idea Anthony is part of this video at all.
Drawing closer, Anthony planted a passionate and lingering kiss on Ian's lips, pouring all his pent-up energy into the moment. It was a calculated move meant to exact his revenge and leave Ian in awe.
As Anthony pulled away, a stunned silence fell over the room. The cast and crew held their breath, awaiting Ian's reaction. Ian was frozen, he liked that kiss way too much, he just couldn’t make out who it could be. Then the blindfold was removed, Ian's eyes widened in astonishment as he locked eyes with Anthony.
"I can't believe you did that," Ian exclaimed, a mix of surprise and amusement in his voice. "You definitely got me back”
Laughter erupted in the studio as the cast and crew celebrated Anthony's successful revenge. Ian couldn't help but admire Anthony's audacity
The revenge kiss marked a turning point in their dynamic. It revealed a deeper connection between Ian and Anthony, one that transcended their playful rivalry. The intensity of the moment made them realize there was more to their relationship than just pranks and jokes.

What are your top 3 fave/dream cast constellations for smosh vids? (so typically 4-6 people each)

oh cool, i've never heard the term "cast constellation" before :> i've never really thought about this before BUT
ian, angela, arasha, amanda - YEAH it's ian and the girlies what about it?? i think ian is just one of those people who takes/took longer to warm up to the newer cast but triple a is a killer trio in which everyone bounces off each other in a really satisfying, funny way.
ian, anthony, shayne, courtney - it's super interesting seeing anthony ease back into nonscripted smosh content again, and i think because of that og squad history, shayne and courtney feel comfiest in videos with him and ian.
og squad (keith, olivia, shayne, noah, courtney) - the shared history goes craaaazyyy. i feel like nobody here has to hold back for anybody else, so it's so comfy and funny.

You know what’s weird? I started this whole shipping thing with smosh and kind of only with smosh. Even though smosh was never my number one community or channel, but i could never see two other people and be like “oh they would look cute together.”
This is gonna be a really weird comparison but stick with me. Snl and smosh, there has literally never been a single ship in snl history. It just doesn’t happen, never did and never will. Why? I don’t really know. The audience is older and more matured but still. If you showed a 5 year old snl and smosh I can guarantee they’re way more likely to find ships in smosh rather than snl.
Why am I writing this? Idk. It just has been on my mind and kind of confused me for a while. Maybe Bc other communities are really quick to shut down shipping, even if they see a comment about shipping they make a tweet or even a video about it and shut that shit down immediately. But smosh, never really stopped it. The original ianthony they weren’t very open to but they never shut it down. Maybe that invited everyone to where we are today.

I am a sucker for all things ianthony. I love when a ship has history and this is like the epitome of that. They have such history, so many vital moments, so many dynamics and angles to work from. Funnily enough, I started shipping them before they reunited because even that wistful angst dynamic of them wanting to be together or missing each other is beautiful to me in it's own way. Ianthony is my number one ship lmao.

Alright, I feel bad because I like iancorn in the sense that it can be used to make Anthony jealous and show Anthony that Ian is desired and wanted by other people. Again, I'm new so I wasn't around for the initial Iancorn hype train (if there was one?). I'm not against it though at all!

I'm obsessed! They are so freaking cute and sweet together. I just rewatched that episode of reddit stories where they say the set is their apartment and cuddle together on the couch. It also only took me like one fan fic reading to be on board with these two.

Hell yeah! I love Shayne with Amanda! I love that she's so tall and he's shorter and she has picked him up. They have a great dynamic and I think that the podcast is helping them to get closer and understand each other more. It was so cute when Shayne guessed Amanda's favorite TV shows because he said he knows her more now.

I really can get behind just about anyone and everyone. I really also love and appreciate rarepairs or three way pairings, etc! Give me some Ian/Anthony/Shayne or Ian/Shayne/Damien!!

spill everything sister, why does looking at anth*nys vids now make you feel yucky? we’re in too deep
okay for the most part i’ve been keeping my opinions out of my recent posts but this is where i’m really gonna delve into things, not just his videos but my opinions on literally everything, good and bad……………. so if you’re not into that, just keep scrolling lol
so, here’s the truth that’ll make you either click away or feel really validated:
anthony’s been pissing me off for a long-ass time.
and here’s my ever-developing thought process.
early on, i had a feeling anthony wanted to leave smosh, and i resented him for it.
i have ianthony fics in the notes section of my ipod dating back to 2014. i might have handwritten fics that date back even earlier. a good chunk of these fics feature one common theme: anthony betraying/mistreating ian.
don’t get any ideas. i’m not saying i think anthony ever intentionally betrayed or mistreated ian. (and no, betrayal and mistreatment isn’t one of my fantasies that i romanticize in some shippy fic 😤😤)
what i am saying is that there was a noticeable change in how anthony carried himself in smosh videos. somewhere along the line i could see that he wasn’t as present, that he didn’t seem as passionate. even as a tween, i always had this idea that if someone ever wanted to end/break out of smosh (our only contenders at the time being ian, anthony, and the og sg crew), it would be anthony.
so naturally, when my emo, dramatic, angst-filled-13-year-old ass felt like writing ianthony fanfiction that expressed how i felt, i always wrote anthony as this inconsiderate, selfish ass. (nothing like his real personality, i should note.) he always regretted his bad decisions by the end of the fic, and his relationship with ian always ended up stronger than it was at the beginning, so writing it was a very therapeutic experience for me.
and i knew i was writing it to feel better about myself. i knew that my writing had barely anything to do with reality. but maybe all that writing was the first little push that made me like anthony a little less than before.
and then he left.
to be honest, i can’t remember the specifics of how i felt once i heard the news that he was leaving, but i remember wanting to know more as to why he was leaving.
so i learned his reasons for leaving, and i learned to accept that the decision was for the best.
one reason – his main reason, i think – is that smosh was no longer allowing him to creatively express himself in the way he wanted. basically, he felt restricted by what smosh had become and by the producers/companies that guided the channel.
he also talks a lot about numbers and “the algorithm” and like… okay sure, more pressure on him that he probably didn’t ask for. i didn’t like how smosh changed, either, so i couldn’t blame him for wanting to escape that.
and i was willing to support him and his new channel. i wanted to see what he would make, i wanted to see what he was forced to hold back before. and i expected it to be genuine and wholehearted.
but it was all just yucky.
idk, maybe it was my fault for expecting the wildly inappropriate humor of brandon rogers or something as labor-intensive and heartfelt as shane dawson’s documentaries. but when i see this clickbaity shit about penis molds and ab pictures and am i gay????
like i…………………………… i can’t understand how this is breaking free from what people expect him to do or how this is anything but playing to the algorithm.
and i don’t understand why everything he does has to include every youtuber on the planet EXCEPT his literal best friend!!!!!!!
fuckin……. do a collab!! show that you’re still best friends!!!! or at this point, maybe attempt to carry on this relationship with this person and all the other people you deemed your friends. to my knowledge, the smosh fam did nothing to personally harm anthony and he doesn’t have to pretend that they don’t exist. because after all that history, it’s only polite that he at least pretend these people still matter to him.
and from what i’ve heard, his treatment of smosh and the people after leaving has been pretty??? shitty??
part of the reason why i could handle anthony leaving was because he said that it wouldn’t come between his and ian’s friendship, so this point hurts the most. but to be fair, i personally haven’t seen anything nasty he’s done. though i know now that there was a thing about courtney liking tweets about anthony being a bad friend to smosh? and that one joke noah made about anthony felt a little too snarky and dismissive to be considered “just a joke”…
anthony was the one who left so if it were anyone’s job to keep that entire relationship alive, it would be anthony’s. but the moment he stepped away from smosh, anthony sort of developed this “good riddance” attitude, i think. and while we have no idea what really happened, i mean… the mutual radio silence between anthony, ian, the entire smosh fam is sort of telling, y’know?
yet at the end of the day, i’m not as angry at anthony as i once was.
i loathed the bastard, aight!!!!! the nerve of this guy to make his big break off this one thing with his BEST FRIEND only to (seemingly) trash it all, trash the people, and profit off the ashes – trust me, i read your angry asks yesterday and i agreed wholeheartedly! i felt your bitterness, and although i tried to keep it fairly neutral on the posts themselves, inwardly i was celebrating the fact that people were just as upset at anthony as i was.
but the more questions i answered and the more time i had to cool down, the more obvious certain truths felt.
i appreciate anthony’s contribution to smosh.i’m happy that anthony is happier doing what he wants.i’m content with where smosh is today.there’s no way of knowing the true state of anthony and ian/the smosh fam’s relationship without them telling/showing us directly.often times the perceived “beef” between anthony and ian/the smosh fam is assumed, unclear, or blown out of proportion.and it’s sad that they don’t all interact in public as much as they did, but i doubt they hate each other because of that.
in other words, it’s not really? all that a big deal to me anymore?? ofc feel whatever you want and don’t feel bad about feeling about what you felt (bc i sure don’t feel bad about being angry at anthony, lol) but know that for the most part, at this current moment, you don’t really have to feel angry if you don’t want to. anthony, ian, and smosh in general seem to be doing just fine, both with themselves and with each other.
so yeah. i’m gonna keep watching smosh, letting anthony do his own thing, and feeling not pissed off about everything… for now 👀👀

Hi! I'm new-ish to the ianthony fandom (better late than never, right?) and I was wondering if there's a documented timeline/resource of their history together. Currently I'm specifically curious about how long they lived together and when & where it was for a fic I'm writing.
Hiya! :D First of all, welcome to the fandom, sweetie! Secondly, there actually is something exactly like this called The Ianthony Report. It’s not updated to today’s time, but it can give you a good idea of the past especially with their past girlfriends and their lives before Anthony moved to LA which is important things to know if you’re new to the fandom!
It’s LONG AS FUCK, but it’s definitely worth a read! Everytime I doubt Ianthony I go back and spend the entire day reading it and it helps with doubt which every one of us experiences every once in a while. So, roll up your sleeves and get ready because it truly is an experience! The POSSIBLE Real Reason why Anthony Left S*osh + Why Ian is Seemingly Out of Anthony’s New Picture.
You guys have been waiting for this for a LONG time, so I’m not going to waste another second getting into it! Get ready, y’all! It’s theory time!
DISCLAIMER:
THIS IS NOT MEANT TO PROVE ANYTHING! This is just a series of speculations and theories that is not intended to be taken as a fact. Everything in this could be 100% wrong for all I know, so please take this info with a grain of salt and DO NOT spread it around as a fact. As always, you’re free to disagree and have conflicting opinions, but don’t be a dick! Please and thank you!

So, before we get started, I’m going to mention what Anthony stated in his livestream Friday night. Someone asked a question about S*osh and Anthony didn’t really say much, but what he did say was very interesting nonetheless.
“Later on, I may talk about other reasons why I left that I didn’t mention in my video, but that’s all I’m going to say about that now.”
Which is cold cut proof that he didn’t tell the full story in his DEPARTURE VIDEO. Even before that, however, we was able to see evidence that this was so. How? Well one example is at 2:35 of his video, Anthony says:
“I need to do be doing what makes me happiest to wake up each morning. Right now that’s for me to do things on my own again with complete creative freedom.”
Which is fine. When he posted this, it made complete sense... but then only FOUR days later, he was in a INTERVIEW with the Instant podcast called “Hey Guys” and was asked at 29:47 what else he would like to do with all the new freedom he had. His response was:
“It’s overwhelming in the best way ever. Of course I’ll be doing my channel, two videos a week, then I fell in love with voice acting when I voiced a character in the Angry Birds movie so I’d like to do more of that if I can. I also wanna try some traditional acting. I’m writing a TV show pilot that I’ve kind of put on the back burner for now while launching my new channel, but I’m really excited about that.
I’m paraphrasing him a little bit, but you can watch the video for the full quote.
Ummm... Didn’t he just say that he left so he could do things on his own with creative freedom not even five days ago? I mean, it was nothing major but it definitely raised a flag for me. If all he wanted was creative freedom and to do things on his own, then why was he willing to work for OTHER companies to voice act or produce his own TV show that I am MORE than sure are more creatively strangling than Smosh ever was. To me, it just didn’t add up. Not to mention that he would be working with a LARGE group of artists, writers, directors, set designers, etc. So that was the first thing that made me suspicious about what he was telling us. There are other reasons as well like him getting a cameraman and trying to establish a cast not even after a year he said he wanted to work alone, but I’m not going to spend anymore time on this because I have a lot more to cover.
So, if creative freedom isn’t the whole story... then what’s the rest of it? While there are no clear cut answers at this time, I do think I have a reason.
I don’t think that Anthony lied. I definitely believe that creative freedom was part of the reason, but it’s not the main reason. The main reason for Anthony leaving is because of the company and the higher ups.
Think about this for a moment. Anthony said that he kept staying with S*osh because he was hoping that eventually it would feel like the good old days with just him, Ian, and a camrea. Once he realised that it would never be that way again, I think he may have tried to change it back to that. Not exactly like how it used to be, but just a little bit of a change. It is also worth mentioning that according to THIS ARTICLE, Barry Blumberg who made Ian and Anthony into the icons they are today, left Defy only three months before Anthony announced his own departure. They company says that the two moves are unrelated, but are they really? Is it possible that Barry was willing to work with Anthony’s desires but were all of a sudden pushed aside by the new Chief Content Officer? What if the new chief told Anthony that what he wanted was not best for the brand. It wasn’t in the best interest for S*osh, so his desires to get back to how things were was just pushed aside and muted with more cast members. This, my peeps, is what I believe pushed Anthony out of the company.
Need more proof? Look at Anthony’s content. Most of his stuff could have been done with the S*osh brand and even I argue that some of the plot in his videos are straight from former S*osh plots. He could have easily done what he’s doing- and even the things that he wants to do like voice acting- could’ve been done from within the company, but why didn’t he? Because the new chair didn’t approve of Anthony’s ideas. If it wasn’t the new chair, then you can also argue that maybe the CEO didn’t want it to happen. According to THIS ARTICLE, Matt Diamond seems to be more concerned about the monetization of the content than the actual content itself. If the CEO saw Anthony’s move towards the older days as a threat to the money his and Ian’s brand would bring him, then I believe he would have no problems with shutting down his ideas with more cast members or cheesy shows that doesn’t even belong on a sketch comedy channel. Also, in THIS VIDEO, Ian mentioned that he felt like Anthony’s departure was coming and that it wasn’t that shocking when he told him which means that Ian knew that something was going on.
The other reason why I feel like it’s a higher up issue is because a month or so later, Lasercorn and Sohinki left S*osh Games. The company suddenly began losing members. Why? Because the company isn’t focused on the content, but on the money the content is making. I could be completely wrong about all of this and the real reason could be something totally different, but at the moment this is what I think really pushed Anthony away. I do believe that there were also a lot of other things that happened, but I believe that it is the higher ups that put the cherry on top.
Okay, so what about Ian and Anthony? Are they still friends and if so, why don’t Ian collab with Anthony or vice versa? Well, I believe I may have an answer for the worst Ianthony drought in history.
YES Ian and Anthony are still friends as I’ve already mentioned HERE. So if they are, where’s Ian in Anthony’s content. Well, what if Anthony couldn’t leave unless he agreed to a couple of obligations? What if Defy made him sign a contract? It would allow him to mention the brand name, but he would not be allowed to promote it, use the brand in his own content, or have any creative say so... what if that includes Ian? Like obviously he would be able to mention Ian, but what if Ian CAN’T be in his videos because it is part of the contract he signed when he left? If it is true that Ian is included with the brand contract, then that would explain why Ian isn’t in any of Anthony’s videos and it would also explain that seemingly harsh and out of the blue TWEET he made four days after leaving.
He was legally forced to disconnect himself from the company and the brand completely which could also prevent Ian showing up in his videos. Ian is technically a part of the Smosh brand, after all. We know it isn’t Ian’s side of the contract either. We know this because while Anthony was signed on with S*osh, they collabed with MANY other YouTubers who mentioned the brand with no problems. So, why wouldn’t Ian be able to collab with Anthony? Because he signed a departure contract that forbids him from doing so. For how long? No one knows, but I have a feeling that it will expire eventually. The quote from his livestream I mentioned at the start of this theory stated that he may talk about what really happened later. Why not now? Because the contract he signed is forbiddening him from doing so until the legal binding is lifted.
Again, I could be 100% wrong! This could all just be crazy talk for all i know! I mean, what kind of company would place legal obligations on an employee just because they want to le-
