The light in the room settles again, the halo going dormant as she lands back on the mattress. She’s shaky and uncertain, kind of torn between breaking out into a fit of laughter and bursting into tears.
Beatrice is still above her, naked in both body and soul, watching her.
This time, when she touches Ava’s cheek with her hand, Ava presses into Bea’s palm and kisses her thumb as it brushes over Ava’s bottom lip.
She wants to say it, wants to scream how much she loves her - but the fog is fading away. She can feel and if she can, she knows Bea can too.
So she keeps quiet, scared of what regrets tomorrow might bring. This isn’t something they can just brush off. It isn’t something Beatrice will be able to brush off. She has vows and commitments and internal struggles with her sexuality that she’s battled for years.
The halo has a seemingly endless power, but Ava knows it can't fix that.
Still, in the safety of their bedroom, in the pitch black of night, Beatrice doesn’t pull away.

i went 30 years of life almost never getting sick - i never even got seasonal allergies! - and now not only have i gotten sick three times in one year, but each time it takes me 7-10 business days to stop feeling phlegmy after all the other symptoms have disappeared. i was sick a week and a half ago and now i feel like rob lowe in that one parks and rec meme except instead of saying "stop. pooping." at myself in a mirror i'm saying "stop. making. mucus."

I've finished my project to meme every chapter of Pride and Prejudice! 🎉 It's been super fun for me to make them and to see which ones y'all most liked.

how did you first get into fandom? I was on here with a whooole bunch of other people for a fandom we can no longer talk about 😬🫣 and ONE of the people I followed switched to Shameless so for MONTHS I'd see Mickey and Ian making out on my dash between memes and cats.
I didn't know if the redhead was called Mickey or Ian, I had never heard their voices, but I was already rooting for them and then they got married right on my dash. That's when I went, alright, I gotta check this out...
It had to be a good show, right?! The gif sets looked so nice! There were a few where they were covered in blood that had me puzzled but other than that... And then I watched it... I BAWLED my way through those early series and I seriously don't know how any of you got through this WITHOUT knowing they'd end up getting married...

Tag Game: Eight Shows to Get to Know Me

In order of nothing with added details no one asked for because I can't do anything without rambling on forever and I could talk about all these shows for literal hours (ask me to please, I'd love to):
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: My chaotic comfort show. Been watching for years and years and its always good for some stupid laughs at crazy insane horrible people doing the most whack ass shit imaginable. And like so many episodes so like endless watchability.
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency: Watched for the first time in Aug 2020 and while it isn't currently as severe a hyperfixation and obsession as it was when I first watched it, its leveled out to a more stable and steady love and appreciation and like come on, the fandom is great. Ya'll are the best.
In the Flesh: This show is beautiful and heartbreaking and has a permanent place in my heart. I end up rewatching it basically every year just because I just have to. It always makes me cry.
Dead Like Me/Pushing Daisies/Hannibal: I'm just going to combine all three of these Bryan Fuller masterpieces that were all cancelled too soon to be fair. All of them are special in their own way and I adore the unique comedy, the snappy and intelligent dialogue, the irreverent and unique takes on death, and the eccentric and wild characters. (I never finished Wonderfalls, the other main Bryan Fuller show, so its not on the list sorry lol).
The Good Place: Such a good show. I went into it the first watched through (back when it was just the first season out) and had no idea what to expect and it just... I mean if you've seen it you know what the first season puts you through... and what looks like a silly dumb show about dumb bad people in the afterlife becomes this wonderful show about humans learning and growing and changing even after their lives are over. It's about our duty to be kind and understanding to other people, about finding ways to live with the gray parts of morality. A comedy show that talks about ethics and moral philosophy throughout the whole show without it feeling like a big boring slog. And ends in such a beautiful way that makes my heart ache and makes me cry just remembering it.
Community: This show is great. It's hilarious. I love the characters. I love the like theme episodes and dumb comedy and the catch phrases and wacky nonsense. It's just fun and great.
Schitt's Creek: This is a show that's just fun to stick on in the background now that I've rewatched like multiple times and know the whole story. I love seeing the characters grow and learn and get closer to each other. The way that they love each other as a family and end up spreading that love to the town, how they find their places and its just a beautiful, silly, and heartwarming show. (Will never be over the loss of Ted and Alexis. They were so special together.)
Tied for the final place: Parks and Recreation, Merlin, Doctor Who: These are shows that had a major impact on me, but I haven't actually rewatched in a few years. I used to do so many watches of Parks and Rec and I still have a love for the show and Benslie is a true OTP. Merlin is great and I'll rewatch episodes here and there but it can be a bit of a slog getting through entire seasons especially knowing how it all ends (😭). And Doctor Who, I'll say probably was the show that made me end up here (on tumblr). I watched in 2012, freshman year of college not really knowing anything about fandoms or like forum places like this, ended up on Instagram to check out more Doctor Who pics and memes and saw a ton of screenshots of tumblr and then finally gave in to make my own account in 2013. And now it's 10 years later and I'm a disaster. So thanks a lot Doctor Who...

Actually now that I think of it the more I realize that this dynamic is probably better for mlm/wlw solidarity besties who are really physically affectionate but get like offended when someone implies that they're dating because they are JUST friends also they will both fuck you up with swords

yeah i like gossip girl! i was at the height of that when i was 13 but its a nostalgic show for me. its not a show that i think too much abt ig. mostly i just quote it all the time w my sister. i have a gossip girl character as my icon now bc i like having matching icons w my sister! we like to switch through fictional friendships/sibling dynamics.
i also LOVE the office and also all sitcoms of that nature (i love parks and rec, superstore, new girl, etc. i love funny shows that focus on sentimental relationships that end up making me ugly cry. i think the office might be my fav but tbh i thought that abt superstore AND new girl before so idk if i even have a fav).
spy x family is a new anime im into these days! its found family and very cute!
and show w big eyes... im not sure which one u mean hhh. i like a lot of anime, my favs being ga (ofc), jibaku shounen hanako-kun, and fruits basket. im also really into the webtoon hooky, which is abt witches.
anyway mikan time:
ONE OF MY FAV CHARACTERS OF ALL TIME. i talk abt natsume all the time so it might feel like hes my all time fav, but he and mikan actually share that place in my heart.
yes similarly i also felt she was annoying when i first watched the anime (i was twelve when i first got into it). at such a young age i had a tendency to get irritated with the female mcs in media (internalized misogyny, etc) and mikan was 1. loud 2. bold 3. stupid, which are naturally unforgivable traits for a character to have (sarcasm). when i rewatched/reread at 14 i realized that i was looking at her all wrong. around the time i started observing the ga tumblr fandom around age 15 (i only recently started being active in the ga fandom bc i was too nervous before), there was a pervasive idea that mikan was a mary sue.
UGH so let me go off real quick. i will talk way more abt mikan in my next nm essay, but ill summarize some of my ideas briefly for this. mikan’s arc is all about feeling useful, having agency, and how best to help others. she is maybe one of the few characters who undergoes OVERWHELMINGLY negative character development. i dont mean she was flanderized or ruined, i mean that this little girl started developing the idea that she should smile all the time and hide all her negative feelings in order to make OTHERS feel better. this is not good! but its treated like its good, like thats the best choice she can make (this is the actual reason that i only ship her romantically w natsume actually, but ill go into that in my essay). it can be fun for a character to devolve, to make the wrong choice, but this change wasnt treated that way.
another issue is i genuinely HATE mikan having the stealing alice. she should never have had the stealing alice. do i realize thats more than half the manga im talking about? YES. it completely upended her character arc. her nullification alice was so understated! she felt like it was useless and was SO insecure about it. then all of a sudden she has the stealing alice, which can be dangerous, but definitely cannot be called “useless” and her story about uselessness/having a “boring” alice just. falls short. yukas story w the stealing alice was so meaningful and impactful on its own. mikan ALMOST being the next yuka couldve been compelling if it didnt ruin the set-up that the entire first half of the manga was focusing on.
anyway mikan is NOT a mary sue for the above reasons. she is not effortlessly perfect. many people in the manga call her plain. she can be really stupid. she doesnt always save the day. in fact, other people often have to save her, making her feel useless (which is why she shouldve saved natsume. they were each other’s key to resolving arcs and yet. and YET.) she can be loud, brash, bold, and often says the wrong things. she has a really apparent character arc and calling her a mary sue ignores all that. ppl who think mikan is a mary sue are my worst enemy and i will fist fight them.
now ill talk a little about mikan in fanfics bc i think its worth mentioning, especially since i filled out that square abt her being done dirty. like i said, mikan is stupid. im not insulting her. some people are stupid. shes not good at academics. shes a lot more sporty than she is brainy. she rushes to conclusions and doesnt always think things through. shes not really a rational person all the time. fanfics often treat this stupidity as a negative trait to be fixed. maybe shes stupid when shes little but she’ll be a genius when she gets older! look how smart she is now! instead of just letting her be dumb. she has other traits, like deep empathy, athleticism, passion, optimism, that are often sacrificed in fanfic in order to make room for her made up intelligence.
mikan in fanfic (especially if shes supposed to be older) is often painted as more subdued than her loud manga counterpart, more often cynical, introverted, skeptical, etc., and ALWAYS pretty even if SHE doesnt see it (despite being described often as plain in the manga). i have some theories about this.
1: western fans are more comfortable making mikan like a western mc than one more typical of anime. if u think abt what a typical western female lead looks like, she’s usually less feminine, “not like other girls,” a smart bookworm who is cynical and rational. this is familiar so i think a lot of western fanfic writers end up leaning mikan this way even at the cost of making her unrecognizable. so mikan being stupid and loud and optimistic are all traits to be fixed, bc theyre not as familiar in a lead role.
2. fans want to have a mature mikan, and they think theres no way she can keep her childish traits, like stupidity, boldness, impulsiveness, and idealism, and NOT be a child. i find that ridiculous. why cant mikan be a giddy, happy, upbeat adult? why does she have to lose all the traits that make her mikan in order to demonstrate maturity?
3. i might be off base with all of these, but this one... i feel the most strongly about. mikan is the main character. in a lot of stories, the reader is invited to relate to the main character, to project onto her. often, the main character is vague or universal BC imagining her as you is the whole point. fanfic (especially the older fanfic) turns mikan into that easily recognizable and relatable mc we can insert ourselves into.
anyway i have a lot more thoughts on mikan, way more than i could ever say in one post (which is why im doing an essay series) but these are some basic thoughts i have. im sorry its so long.

I had to move to find a school willing to provide accommodations, but I got started again with online classes almost three years ago. Now, I'm finally (finally!!), wrapping up my last subject for upper secondary school, which qualifies me for higher education. Well yes. the universe is infinitely big, I do believe some form of life exists out there, whether single-cell organisms or a more intelligent species. Do I think they came over here and built the pyramids? no. no i do not.

still can't drive...
what's your guilty pleasure?
i don't know, do i have one? I like lots of things people might find cringe, like, 80's love ballads or early one direction songs, but I wouldn't say there's anything I think of as a guilty pleasure.
tattoos?
can look really cool on other people, though they're not necessarily something I'm inherently attracted to. also, they are not meant for me. I'm too indescisive, too afraid of making a mistake, and too aware of how changeable I am. I hope I keep growing and changing for the rest of my life, and I don't wanna put marks on my body that define me as someone I've moved away from, if that makes sense.
that being said, there are some tattoo artists i follow on instagram whose work i really like. People who do the loveliest watercolour work, people with insane colors, people with gorgeous, folk art-style. If I had to get a tatto, I would go to one of them, and let them dream up something wonderful.

I think spotify usually tells me it's some type of folk indie pop rock-thing, but it's easier to answer the reverse: I don't really listen to opera, screamo/heavy metal or dubstep/edm. Aside from that? I love gathering artists and songs of all different styles from all over the world in all different languages. I'm eclectic at heart.
do you like puzzles?
yes, although it's a struggle to do physical puzzles as I can't seem to find a spot with good lighting. But I've done lots of digital puzzles and they're fun.
any phobias?
my fear of insects has gotten progressivley worse. specifically the crawling ones. especially if they have lots of legs, and are fast. ughhhh. does it classify as a phobia? idk.
favourite childhood sport?
the words 'childhood' and 'sport' in combination are rarely associated with enjoyment for me. idk. we played a game similar to baseball sometimes, that would probably have to be the one but... I've never really been a sports-person...

Hm. rarely out loud, but often in my head.
what movie(s) do you adore?
the first lotr movie = ultimate comfort movie. Mamma mia, pretty woman, notting hill, wild child = fond childhood memories w/ my mom. Billy Elliot and the way back are two movies I've watched several times and really really enjoyed, like they just stand out in my mind. Divines, which I stumbled across on netflix, is possibly my fave. If I were to rec someone one movie, it would be that one. I just think it's good. I vibe with it.

Hey dear. :) Here it goes...
1. favourite place in your country?
You ask tough questions. I like mountains, but having seen the Alps, I can’t exactly say that our Tatra Mountains are very impressive. I used to like the city Cracow – I studied there and it’s an old and beautiful city – but it’s sort of associated with conservative people and ideas in my mind now. There are places I haven’t been to, that I think I might like, like Białowieża Forest or other National Parks.
Oh! I like Bieszczady. It’s a region in the southeast corner of Poland – mountains, but not the very high rocky ones. Instead they are topped by polonyns – a type of mountain meadows. Really beautiful, and still one of the places in Poland, where there’s not too many tourists and people in general. Although, too many of us like the solitude Bieszczady offer, so it’s not so solitary and wild anymore. ;)
11. favourite native writer/poet?
I should say Wiesława Szymborska, but only because I don’t read a lot of poetry or Polish literature and she is very famous (Nobel Prize). And if I’m recommending great Polish writers, I’ll also mention Olga Tokarczuk (also Nobel Prize, last year).
It’s more to rec reading to you ;), because both those ladies are truly excellent, amazing humans and great writers, unfortunately I’m not very versed in reading “worthy” literature.
Oh. And of course Andrzej Sapkowski, how could I forget, lol. I consumed the Wiedźmin Saga twenty-or-so years ago. :)

This, I honestly don’t know.
Oh. Maybe… “Traditional family – a man and his cat”, or “Holy mother of cat” (It’s about our imperious leader (not the prime minister, or president, just a guy who leads the party that’s been ruling here for the past five-or-so years), who is all about traditional values and the meaning of the Real Polish Family(tm) (very anti LGBT+, I mean), but he’s an old hag and is known for spoiling his cat. I have nothing against cats or people loving their cats otherwise. It’s just him.)
24. what other nation is joked about most often in your country?
I’m not sure about now, but in my youth there was a score of jokes styled as “A German, Russian and Pole walk into a bar…” The German was always the most stupid, or serious in a funny situation, or whatever, the Ruse wasn’t so bad, and of course the Pole was the smartest. ;)
We also joke a lot about Czech language, because it has words that sound like funny diminutives in Polish. Without translation. Just, two very similar, but different languages.

I'm on a sibling kick. Tell me what you think Ty was like as a little tyke with Del. How does some of that translate when they're older? How close are they? How defensive is Ty about Del regularly? Does Ty have any insecurities about being a big brother/guardian for his sister since they found each other again? Does he harbor guilt for all the bad things that Del has gone through? What would Ty have been like if he never found Del, but remembered he had a little sister?

Ty and Del as young kids is adorable to me because Ty is and always has been super protective. Little five year old Ty learned that his mama had a sibling in her and just made big eyes even though he didn’t understand why. There’s a baby inside his mom! that’s exciting! He always wanted a playmate! And when Del is born and is too small to play? That’s okay! He can still talk to her and she grabs at him when he says things, so that means she likes him! She’s so tiny and so happy in his arms that he decides that he’s never ever ever gonna let anything happen to her, which is why when the first order comes to Toydaria the first thing he does is hide his little sister. He was always very good at making friends, but if Del needed someone to play with, he would go to her instead, which was good, since Del frequently snuck out of the house to find him and his friends. He also has a zero tolerance policy on making his sister feel bad. You make her feel bad, you’re put in your grave, so start digging.
When they’re older, it mostly translates into sensing. Thinking about Del and knowing how she feels about something, whether she’s comfortable with it, whether she’d want it, etc etc. Mostly becuase he knows her well enough that it’s second nature to know, but it’s this sense of “I want what’s best for my sibling and she’s got my back”. Now, even before Ty gets his memory back, he feels this draw to Del, this absolute and unwavering need to make sure that she’s alright. Now, some could argue that that’s just part of his personality, but with Del it’s amped up to the extreme. Not even Cisco could get him to think rationally about bringing her aboard the Liberator, and once she was there, he didn’t really try to gain her trust. What he did was he offered her things and told her she deserves whatever any other person does, because she’s a person. And maybe she had his eyes, and maybe they looked kind of similar, but how was he to know that all Toydarian hybrids weren’t like this? And his protective streak comes out in the way he orders the crew not to bother her if she asks to be alone, they way he lets her customize her room and doesn’t force her to come to meals, instead slipping things under her door and leaving them out in the corridor. Really, at first, Ty doesn’t want to overstep, and his protectiveness goes toward making sure that no one else does.
Once he Remembers, RIP to anyone trying to date her. lmao.
Ty and Del are EXTREMELY Close. Even before he remembers, they’re offering each other comfort and allowing each other into their personal space. They’re the kind of siblings that tell each other everything, and bounce ideas off of each other when they need to think something through. They’re both good listeners ((at least when it comes to each other)) and are similar in the way that they scarf down anything and everything and are in general dicks to people that annoy them. Ty has blindspots that his compassion gets in the way of, and Del is very good for him in the way that she will call him out on it. Del calls Ty out, but there are very few instances where Del could do wrong in Ty’s eyes. He’s very much that meme from Parks and Rec:
Del: “I have never done anything wrong ever.”Ty: “I know this and I love you.”
But that doesn’t mean that if it comes down to it Ty won’t say Del is out of line. In fact, if there ever comes a time where Del is being too analytical, too plan-forward, and not thinking of herself enough, Ty will absolutely call bullshit and tell her she doesn’t need to do it. He’s the kind that will take the shot if Del has someone she believes needs to be dead in her sights, because he knows how she feels about killing and wouldn’t want her to go through that.
Ty’s defensiveness for Del knows no bounds tbh. This shows generally through his treatment of those who are interested in her, which, frankly, is jaded and straight up rude. He doesn’t give a shit about your emotions if you’re into Del, he only cares about hers, and how there’s no way in hell you’re good enough for her. Del’s taste is e x t r e m e l y below par (lookin at you, Geht) and Ty is completely down with telling you, your mother, your brother, your dad, your commanding officer, your dog and cat, your ex lovers, your priest, your son, your feeling of existential dread, you, AND your superior officer dressed like a radar technician just how not worthy of his sister you truly are. And even if Del is madly in love with you? “Well, Mire was always the type to love wholeheartedly, like the saint she is. Can’t fault her for that. Doesn’t make you worthy of her. In fact, makes you less so”.
Not to mention that as an ex trooper now pirate, Ty’s questionable morals tend to lean him toward killing someone who MIGHT hurt his sister instead of waiting around until they do it. Which is why happens to stand between her lovers and Ty’s blaster sight.
Ty is insecure AS HELL okay. I don’t really talk about it, becuase it’s a part of his character he loves to hide, but Ty isn’t always 100% sure he’s doing the right thing. Del is her own person, and he worries that one day she’s going to wake up and realize that he’s conned her, and that he’s not actually her big brother Danton, but some First Order spy. He worries that he’s no longer worthy of her love, becuase he’s killed people and followed orders he knew weren’t right. He still doesn’t flinch at killing when it needs to be done, but there are certain things that make him sick to his stomach ((like that time he cut a certain gangster in Hutt space into peices one finger and toe at a time)) but he doesn’t flinch as he does it. He feels that someone who is able to do things like that, someone who’s been through what he’s been through, doesn’t deserve to be loved all that much by anyone, not his squadron, not his lovers, not his long lost family, and definitely not the perfect little sister he always wanted.
This shows largely in the modern au, because even though he adopts her to get her out of the system they were both raised in, he still has those days where he needs to pull his car to the side of the road and cry because he fucked up in a PTA meeting and now all the moms are going to gossip about how badly his sister is being raised. He worries that he doesn’t buy her new clothes enough, that she doesn’t actually love used clothing, but that she doesn’t want him to feel bad about how little money he actually has to put toward it. He worries that he doesn’t spend enough time with her, because of school and his three jobs and splitting his time between Del and his friends. He worries that he isn’t good enough to be a big brother, or family to anyone, because he was never shown how.
And honestly? Ty does feel guilty. He blames himself a little bit for all the bad things that happened to Del because had he remembered? He would have dropped everything to find his family. Had the First Order not been so good at brainwashing their young troopers he would have abandoned everything and searched for his family, but that’s not what happened, and in Ty’s mind that means that he wasn’t strong enough. He should have been able to stand between Del and everything that would have harmed her, which is probably why he’s so overprotective when it comes to strangers and potential lovers.
And if Ty didn’t remember Del but knew about his sister? well, the person he is would have to look. He would never be able to be calm about it, knowing that somewhere out there was someone who needed him, someone who’d once depending on him, someone he loved so much he hid them away before going to warn his friends. someone he gifted his favorite stuffed animal to and coaxed into letting go of his arm just before he never came back. Ty couldn’t remember having a sibling and not need to find them, and not need to know if they’re alright.
