thoughts/theory about The Neon Void >:)))

spoilers for ch. 21

void’s fighting style mimics that of the krang in it’s mech. this makes sense, as he doesn’t have his swords, and the parasite likely affects his instincts.

void not fighting using swords was a very good choice imo, as his family would most definitely have recognized him by the way he fought.

even when he gets his sword back, he doesn’t get the chance to fight while using it. instead, he slashes open a portal, and then subsequently spends the rest of the fight trying to close it.

i feel like this fact really adds to the identity reveal and the distinction between void and leo: he tries to fight as void while using leo’s sword. this dissonance is physically manifested as a veritable black hole of a portal; a void.

and if he doesn’t close it, get rid of the void, his family will die. he has to act as leo in order to do this.

if that ain’t foreshadowing, idk what is.

i suspect that, in some way, his actions as void (possibly due to the crazed state that we last saw him in) will again put his family in danger. whether the danger is the krang or something else, idk.

in order to save them, he’ll have to save himself first; he’ll need to banish the void back to where it came from.

however, void is his coping mechanism. as long as he is void, he doesn’t have to process all of that trauma. leo, in his own words, is weak. a waste of space. i suspect that it’ll be a hard battle to get him to accept that he has to go back.

what’s more important to him? his family: the people he survived 5 years in hell for? or, his own self destruction: the thing that comforted him in that darkness. the thing that keeps him from falling apart?

anyways, this is just a theory. A GAME THEORY !!

#Compound Fracture #aroaessidhe 2024 reads #aromantic books #andrew joseph white did it again……#pretty fast paced and gripping! I barely put it down.#Definitely the primal scream of rage the author described it as. Pretty brutal in places. I enjoyed it a lot.#it’s definitely less sff than his other books - the ghostly element is almost subtle - but that worked for me.#I was especially excited for this one because I heard the MC is aromantic and I’m so happy about it I think that was done well #certainly with more nuance and depth than I’ve come to expect from a lot of books; despite the fact that it’s not a major focus #(and yknow takes place over a couple weeks and is still in the questioning stage other than maybe the epilogue)#It’s tackling some very large complex things politically and is very unsubtle and somewhat neat about it #- and I think some aspects could have used more nuance/elaboration? but also maybe that’s just not possible to fit in one little book #the handful of negative reviews I can find I guess I see where they're coming from lol #but yknow. lots of good regardless #and also. appreciation moment for evangeline gallagher's cover art

if the events of persona 4 didn’t happen, if you gave him ten years i think yosuke could’ve become the kind of guy to do fight club. yu is literally his tyler. the degree to which it maps is insane.

blessings so many blessings!

#the theater company I’m part of just announced an ownership transition I’ve been pretty anxious about and it’s the best possible outcome!!#(friends who have been part of it all the way through own it now :)#finally listened to a few of the Maisie Peters songs y’all often recommend #(okay the whole good witch deluxe album) and it’s not really my type of music but I found a few I like and more importantly it felt like #I was vibing with you all about them for a minute!#I now own a 1950s dress that’s in really good condition! I got it for a play I’m in but also I love it regardless #and a fabulous and warm 40s coat #and also while trying on so many vintage dresses I just felt excited for the girls and women who wore them before? idk what lovely clothes #(they’re just like us you know)#also! everything is so brilliantly gold and orange especially on the backroads :)#AND I’m going to watch my friends in college chorale and orchestra do a concert tonight

everyone is talking about the origins of henry 1.0 and how he was gifted to levi, but i can’t help but wonder if the “first best friend” they mentioned is actually lotan.

as far as i know (and please feel free to correct me if i’m wrong), we haven’t seen anything about how levi actually met lotan nor how he gained his status as the grand admiral. we know that levi has the ability to summon him at will (usually for comedic purposes) and that he can cause mass destruction, but they haven’t dove in deep beyond that (other than the monster festival chat). considering how nightbringer is covering the aftermath of the celestial war, including the upbringing of the brothers as the newly appointed seven lords, then it is safe to assume that we will be exploring how each of the brothers gained their statuses and the respect of the citizens of the devildom, including leviathan.

this brings me to my next question: why is leviathan the one who has the ability to command a dangerous monster like lotan? wouldn’t it be ideal to have lucifer, the strongest of the brothers and the leader, to command him? why not mammon, who worked directly under lucifer and is the closest one to him of the brothers?

well there’s one possibility: they both lacked the ability to gain lotan’s respect and hence control him.

again, i’d imagine that a monstrous creature as dangerous as lotan would not be easy to tame. he is a feared serpent of the deep sea — one with seven heads at that, and so strong that he caused so much mass destruction in the human realm,

and yet this monstrous serpent follows the command of leviathan.

leviathan, who prefers to keep to himself, enough to where interacting with others makes him uncomfortable. leviathan, who is very passionate about his interests and speaks in internet slang out loud.

leviathan, who was also the general up in the celestial realm and was so passionate about fighting that he felt like he had no purpose otherwise (and the reason why he’s so good at strategizing in video games).

leviathan, whose aforementioned experience could’ve been the overall reason why he somehow tamed the large, seven-headed beast.

now wouldn’t that catch the interest of the higher authority?

and wouldn’t that higher authority possibly be the demon king, who, as satan states below, gave them their rankings and demon names?

could that be why leviathan is the third eldest of the brothers, despite there being doubts in this? because even though his powers do not equate to an extremely powerful ex-celestial nor a throne who worked under said ex-celestial, he still gained enough respect that he could control such a wild, wild beast and eventually gain yet another leadership status over a whole army — a beast that his younger brothers cannot control either and hence are placed beneath him.

leviathan, the commander of the sea.

the grand admiral of hell’s navy.

#as for why levi would summon lotan for comedic purposes despite everything i mentioned #it is for comedic purposes like i mentioned but if this is a creature of mass destruction then why does it only flood the house?#perhaps levi is still maintaining control over this creature by never allowing him to go beyond that #as for henry 1.0 it could be him as well! for that i do wonder if that unexpected person could potentially be barbatos but that would #be going off of the snake theme they both hold #regardless of who it is i’m excited to find out more about what they’ll show #anywho though i hope the post made sense! i was typing it up on mobile and it kept gltiching out sjdjf #excited to hear y’all’s thoughts! ^^#obey me #obey me shall we date #obey me analysis #obey me theory #obey me leviathan #obey me nightbringer #also bonus if you caught my pun eheheh
