The worst part of writing is that I have to write it if I want it to exist.
#im writing a podcast#i love it so much! I'm very excited about it!#and i just came to a very important. very cool part of the story#i want to know what happens next!#which means i have to write what happens next :(#why can't it just exist without me having to write it#writing is hard#its worth it! i think this story is really worth it!#but goodness it's difficult#ive almost finished the first episode#i wrote it in a weird order#i wrote the first episode. then decided i wanted to add more exposition#so i wrote an episode before that using some parts from the original first episode#and i wrote half of the original second episode (which is now the third episode)#so i have like. half of three episodes#i estimate that it'll be about twelve episodes because i kind of wrote an outline of how it'll all be laid out#im super excited for the seventh episode especially#but that means i have to finish writing the first six episodes#which im excited about! but as i said. writing is hard#i can't wait to finish writing it too because that means i get to hire the actors and hear it come to life#but im also not looking forward to it because ive never written a podcast before so it's all very new to me#hiring actors and editing and directing and shit#itll be a new experience for sure#but i have to finish writing it first!!

when you're into the Big Ship™ in a Big Fandom™, you have the luxury of having an OTP - a real One True Pairing, where you can read about just them for ages, and you will never run out of fics, and everything is perfect and beautiful and nothing hurts
but when you go to a smaller fandom, you'd better pray to whatever god you worship that someone else in this room ships the same thing that you do, and that if they do, they're writing more than late-night crackfic, because you're on thin fucking ice!
and how small is your small fandom? is it less than 100 fics? maybe even...less than 20 fics?
welp, then it's time to make peace with that god and either open up a text document or learn how to ship everything, because it's swim or drown babey! and your ship is sinking fast
anyway all of this is to say that after hanging out in small fandoms and shipping less-common pairings for a while, going back into a Big Huge Fandom™ is wild because suddenly it's like...wait, why didn't I ship these people again? I don't remember. why was I only sticking to one ship in this fandom?? boring of me, honestly. these guys should make out.

I gotta say I did not expect I’d love Miles this much, enough to look up shit like Secret War and Civil War II reading order, and worse, subject myself to Bendis’ writing of all things (he’s the reason why I stopped being a comic stan 5 years ago. I were a DC/ Superfam fan. You know the beef was BEEFING). Like, my tolerance of that dude now only stops at him being one of Miles’ creators. So that better writers can do the kid justice years later. That’s it.
Like, why is the “r u and Ganke together haha” a whole shtick that comes up multiple times during his run? It’s so annoying and painful to read. Miles can go around being paired up with different girls but the moment THAT question came up you know he gonna be super defensive and >:( about it which, eh, just does not line up with anything else happening in whatever story is happening at the time. At all.
The only silver of light is that Miles actually never says he doesn’t like boys, he just denies ever dating Ganke. Like, he could just say he doesn’t swing that way and the question would have stopped, but he doesn’t. So I know he be running around kissing the punk-est boy in the whole spider verse, ha!
Idk I’m near the end of Bendis’ run and some of it r good but a lot of them put me thru excruciating pain (cringe) so I have to complain about it.
Did I mention I were a DC stan 6 years ago? I were a DC stan 6 years ago so this isn’t even my first rodeo with white dudes writing weirdest things in American comic, but I just can’t believe I got dragged into this again because Miles blinks his bambi eyes on screen and makes me want to rotate him in my brain so I need to know the lore of him in every medium, apparently.

Hi folks! It seems like people are discovering that there are people online who write some WEIRD! 👎 stuff for Nevermoor. Some tips and tricks for dealing with that:
Don't engage. Don't read the fics. Don't even comment to say how much you hate it.
Don't spread it around. It's gross as hell, I know! But being like "ew, guys, I found this gross fic" just means you're causing more people to seek out said gross fic, and that's just not great. If you don't want to see it, no one else wants to either.
If you can: block, mute, or filter. I don't really use any fanfic sites to know if these functionalities exist, but I'm sure people online have found ways. Edit: here's a way to do it on Ao3.
TL;DR: Ignore, Ignore, Ignore. 👍
(PS: Same thing goes for when people send weird inappropriate anon messages. Just delete them from your inbox and don't subject others to them.)
This is unfortunately something that's been present for years in the fandom, on both Ao3 and Wattpad. This is also why I essentially don't read Nevermoor fics unless they're for Mogtober, and even then I'm cautious. I have seen some weird stuff written about my favorite characters that I wish I could pluck from my brain and set on fire, or worse! But when I stumble across that stuff, I just quickly close the tab and pivot to something else to get my mind off of it.
We should not entertain these types of people in a fandom full of minors about a middle grade series, so: just don't engage with them, ignore them, filter them out, and maybe even drown them out with some fics of your own.

it turns out that in order to have a dissertation you do indeed have to actually write the thing
#having a weird transition from prospectus phase to diss phase in part because i wrote a 75-page(!) prospectus#which i am now shamelessly cannibalizing for the dissertation itself#but honestly my motivation to write this chapter went mia when [events on campus] happened and it has not yet fully returned#and mostly i am just struggling with how fucking weird it feels to be writing about latin poetry amid [gestures at everything]#like i am writing my silly words about my silly poets in order to get a silly doctorate from a university i believe is rotten to its core#and of course i still want it because i've invested all this time and come this far but man it's bleak out there lately

prosthetics in the pm world are pretty obviously NOT the same as prosthetics in our world, and using them to point towards kromer being ableist is one of the weakest arguments i have ever seen in my entire life. give me ONE piece of evidence of kromer being ableist that doesn't mention prosthetics i fucking dare you
look at that. it's not about needing a missing arm replaced, or legs that you can walk on; it's about doing away with all of the inefficiencies of a flesh and blood body. you can get so much more work done if you don't need to eat or sleep!
unfortunately, there are many ways to be ableist and if she truly was, to the point where it was an important part of her character with an entire canto centered around it (like hating pm-prosthetics is), then i feel like maybe
just maybe
she would express this in other ways
that don’t involve slaughtering people that just happen to be made of metal.

she prefers the human body the way it is, and when she sees this "ideal form" that's like the exact opposite of HER "ideal form" starting to take over, she resorts to being a violent bloodthirsty cult leader about it because she sucks ass and is incapable of being normal
she is a bad person and you are allowed to hate her ofc but please for the love of god hate her for something she’s actually done. stop making shit up

No offense but I feel like among IDW1 Megatron fans you can lowkey tell who's read multiple series of the comics (namely, phase 1 and early phase 2) and who's only read MTMTE by the way they talk about, headcanon, or write Megatron. And like it does genuinely make a huge difference because I feel like MTMTE Megatron in general is a different flavor of Megatron from the rest of the series..... not OOC, that's the wrong word, but like....... more as if JRO had a very specific vision of him and janked the reins of the series to drive Megatron down a specific interpretation of his character, which is still in-character but is very different from the way he was characterized early in the series.
But in terms of Megatron fans, you can really tell the difference between MTMTE-only readers and other-parts-of-IDW readers.
#squiggposting#not all of them are negative difference but like#for me it seems like the mt/mt/e M only readers tend to have a softer idea of M#or like. they're less willing to accept he did bad things. even though mt/mte HAS some of the worst things M did#like idk sometimes it feels as if that group of readers stans an entirely different idw M and it's hard to put a finger on#it's not even them writing M ooc it's more like. they seem to view his mt/mte self as like the ultimate incarnation#and treat his previous appearances/personalities with disdain or even claiming they're ooc#but like. to me it's mt/mt/e autobot M that's the one that's different and unusual#but ppl literally come into this series with m/tmt/e and god help you if you try to coax them into reading anythign else#plus like no offense but it's my honest opinion that JRO handled mt/mte M with silk gloves on#or like. some kind of gentler treatment and less harsh narrative consequences than he would've gotten if written by say Barber#it's weird to see people sucking JRO's dick clean off about how he wrote M when JRO's style in general is quite flawed#it feels like these people haven't read anything of idw1 and see JRO's writing as like the only valid way of writing M or any other charact#anyways i feel like if you only read mt/mte you don't even get a complete picture of M as a person#like in order to appreciate his heel face turn you honestly have to see him as he was before#otherwise wtf do you think he has to redeem himself from??? being mean to a couple people on the lost light???

#awful day guys. truly awful.#my buddy doctor is away for the second time in three weeks AND i was away a couple of days in between#so I'm covering all her patients and i haven't caught up from the LAST time she was away#i am also very bemused by her decisions. you know what i am NOT doing anything with that test#you ordered it last time (a test i would never do in a baby) and it came back weird so i called paeds and they said i would never do that#test in a baby#WHICH I WROTE DOWN#i do not know WHY you ordered it again and i am NOT making it my problem this time around#anyway. very long day. then my coworker set the alarm on me. then i finally went out to my car and to cap it off#it had been raining and my door leaked??? the driver seat was all wet!#what an end to a day#i have ordered curry but i had to order from the kinda flaky place bc most places are closed on a Monday#so hoping it doesn't take forever and i can enjoy a curry at the end of a terrible day

Honestly, as someone who owns a lot of the Archie comics (one day I'll go through them and sort them proper), anytime Pender wrote for any character was yikes. The ladies especially.

see neftoon zamora is a weird book with an ending that kind of undermines a lot of the ideas presented in the book, but i love it a lot and i feel like a lot of people were turned off by it because they find it odd that mike made himself the main character and i just have to say… they’re not… their sp… one of their main special interests is not mike nesmith’s entire fucking past… they just think of him as the random monkee guy who invented mtv… so they don’t get it… they don’t get it like i do…
