Donna Noble really got in the TARDIS and on trip number ONE like ONLY the FIRST trip she was like we are going to change history to save a single family because that is how it should work so that is how it does and then on trip number TWO on the SECOND trip she was like we are going to destroy an entire culture of slavery because it is right I don't care if we're two people and then on the THIRD trip she was like I am going to be unbelievably brave to save my home and everyone I love and then on the FOURTH trip she was like no living breathing thinking creature is less than a person and how dare you try to dehumanise someone like that how dare you not give her a name and the list GOES ON this woman NEVER MISSED there goes one of the kindest bravest most constant women you might ever meet and she's a temp from Chiswick

I like to think that there's at least one version of The Doctor out there somewhere in the vast multiverse who would've done anything to keep Jack Harkness by their side and never would've left him alone in the first place :((

What did/do you like about Pharah?
Uh, gameplay-wise, I really love characters in shooters who rely on three-dimensional movement techs. Chaining together hover and jump to stay in the air for as long as possible and keep momentum is so satisfying, and picking enemies off from the sky made me feel like a bird of prey. I was a good Pharah main.
Story-wise, there unfortunately isn't much to canonically go off because Pharah is so underutilized and neglected. Her personality's pretty boilerplate "heroic hero" (she's literally inspired by Captain America).
But it's the crumbs/bits and pieces that I really latched onto. Pharah's a confirmed lesbian; her short story with Baptiste implies she harbors a crush on Mercy (fucking thank you.). She's biracial Egyptian/First Nations. She has major mommy issues, having grown up both admiring and resenting Ana. She's the bridge between Old Overwatch, inspired by the idealized heroes who surrounded her childhood, and New Overwatch. She's one of the only inter-generational characters in the cast; someone whose experiences span the gap, which is why I seriously believe Pharah would make a great main character.
There isn't much to go off of, though; she's a very uncomplicated character (she's a soldier for a private military corporation, lol.). But that just means she's a blank slate character, so I've seen fanfic writers run wild and create some really interesting takes on her. My favorite interpretation of her's a dense, herbo gym-bro type (a lot of her liens are about work outs, exercising, and playing sports) who's easily excitable under her seemingly self-serious, armored visage. We see how she tends to gloat and hype herself up when she's on a streak too, so Pharah definitely has a competitive and boastful side under her more professional and militant performance.
Now Mercy? Mercy is a real complex character.
#i was a diehard pharmercy shipper back then btw#the inherent homoerotic experience of pharmercy gameplay.#the homoerotic experience of looking to the skies to fly to safety under the protection of your knight in shining armor#the homoerotic experience of feeling white hot murderous rage at an enemy trying to pick off your pocket mercy#i still kinda despise gency lmao. you cannot convince me mercy would be in love with genji. at all.#he'd make her feel so uncomfortable and guilty. in my head. the canon is obviously different#gency is sexless. absolutely zero bite or tension.#i could go on about mercy and how her character has so much missed potential#i'm no longer in my overwatch fandom phase but#i still think about that new flirty line they added in ow2 where mercy goes “ahh you're like my knight in shining armor!”#and pharah goes “that's what i'm goin for ;)” and i sigh dreamily#really happy that pharah outright says she's a lesbian too but it's hard to feel good about rep when you know blizzard uses it for pr#to be honest i'm willing to bet cash that blizzard's keeping pharmercy in their back pocket as ammo for the next controversy#last year we already saw logs about pharah fretting and taking care of mercy and the two talking about how good it is to see each other#tbh pharah has the same energy/demeanor as applejack. cheerful and competitive in a can of whoopass#but yeah overall pharah's a pretty shallow character. i have IDEAS on how i'd go about deepening her but. whatever#that's sorta what happens when you have to juggle a cast of 40 characters. a lot get left with the bare minimum#ok so i wrote this entire post up saying that pharah isn't in ow2's storymode when she is. she's in the story i just. forgot#because she doesn't do or contribute anything interesting#ok i'm stopping here. overwatch's story is such an interesting narrative mess i could go on for hours#i dunno how you come up with such incredible character designs and give them such an unincredible story#it's also so so so interesting seeing the conflicting takes on characters the writers have#mercy in gameplay and voicelines is peppy and cheerful and optimistic#but mercy in the storymode journal logs is tired. jaded. a total shut in who forgets to leave her room and social#and YES! THAT'S WHAT I WANT!!! THAT'S MERCY TO ME!!! THE DOCTOR WHO FORGETS TO TAKE CARE OF HERSELF#ask me#anon

Jack Harkness really was made for the girls, gays, and theys, wasn't he? Absurdly pretty, knowledgeable about the science and tech, excellent in a fight-- the man is a triple threat of sex appeal, and he knows it.

Watching utopia/the sound of drums/the last of the time lords sequence is always fun but directly after torchwood it is really something hilarious. Imagine the disconnect Jack is going through; he’s spent over 100 years in an organisation where murder is a totally standard, day to day decision, hardly worthy of moral objection, and suddenly he’s facing a man who spends a year single-handedly enslaving and slaughtering the entirety of humanity (including everyone he loves), and his friend/mentor/abandoner is telling him no killing?!!?! And he obeys!!

So I’m on tumblr and there was a post about the Doctor and ginger like the actual food not the hair color. And I was very confuzzled bc I’m like ‘why is ginger and doctor who a thing?’ So I googled it, and apparently ginger gets Timelords absolutely sloshed.
I then go back yo Tumblr and search for more ginger doctor content bc that to me is hilarious and I guess I missed it in the show but I found out 13 carries around *AN ENTIRE BAG OF GINGER CANDIES*!

Like she just has the equivalent of this on her person?! What the actual fuck, you little alcoholic?!
Tumblr media
Also the fact that it’s never really brought up that 13 is essentially a functioning alcoholic (while piloting a whole ass spaceship mind you) is part of my biggest issues with her series overall. There was SOOOO many good ideas buried in mehh writing. Seeing her essentially becoming an alcoholic could have been amazing, like maybe Graham was sober and could have spotted it and talked to her about it especially after she crashed the TARDIS and puts them in danger but we just get a line of ‘oh shit, she’s basically carrying a flask of vodka’ and then nada.
The Master stealing her body could have been AMAZING, perfect chance for a body swap episode, Jodi would have fucking KILLED it and omg Yaz struggling with the fact the Master looks and sounds like her Doctor and is a LOT more touchy-feely than the Doctor? I would have died. But nope, just put him in her clothes and call it a day.
The Doctor being in prison for thirty YEARS to the point she started talking to herself? Amazing! Fantastic, we love that idea! Surely that must have affected her, given her a bit of PTSD, made her question her sanity a bit? Oh she just apologizes for some reason and then it’s never brought up ever again and we only spend 3 minutes with her in prison before she’s rescued? Got it.
An alien that takes the form of something you want to protect and the Doctor doesn’t see any past companion or Yaz, just a random child? Like it irks me, bc the amazing ideas are there, but nothing happens with them.

i need to talk about rose tyler
ok first of all i dont care if nobody sees this. i just need to vent
when i first started watching doctor who, i didnt think rose was pretty. i thought both her and nine's smile was way too big, kinda weird.
then in the second episode we met lady cassandra (aka a fucking trampoline) and she bragged about being the last 'pure' human and how pretty she was after going through 700-and-something surgeries.
i never liked the idea of people doing a ton of plastic surgeries to look "pretty". my fisrt thought when i see women who have gone through a lot of them (and by that i dont mean a botox every now and then, i mean these people who try to "fix" their faces through a ton of different procedures) is "weird". "that looks so artificial". its like they're barely human anymore, and while im not gonna judge people's personal decisions (do whatever you want!) i never find and i suppose i never will find it pretty.
so lady cassandra tells rose "you could do that too. you could change yourself, look pretty, thin, like me". at that point im going "noooo dont fall into that rose, i personally dont like your smile, your face, but i would never change a thing about you"
and i think i already had kinda accepted that rose would take cassandra's words and start being insecure about herself, about her body, because that's basically all we see in media. women, young women, hating their appearences and wanting so bad to change certain aspects of theirselves. i was feeling bad for rose, bc i didnt want her to be like that too, but in my mind this was the only way the scene could possibly go.
but rose tyler looks the trampoline in the eyes and say "i would rather die."
and cassandra bitches something about her chin or whatever, and how she could get rid of it, and rose laughs it off and says "i mean it. i would rather die."
that line stuck with me so much that i can quote it word for word without even looking it up. from that moment on, rose tyler was the prettiest woman onscreen whenever she appeared.
and she had the prettiest and most genuine smile.
