2024 January Media Post Thingy

i dont post on tumblr.com a whole lot i mostly just love to reblog but i wanna see if this novelty thing sticks because for like 2020-2022 i had like a text file i did that i stopped doing in 2023 or so for like video games in particular and i unno it was fun but i got distracted cus half that month i was doing retail anything special happen this year yet? not especially, but since soon ill be very busy with something that IS indeed special, and my bday, i may as well make a post now bc i feel like i will be preoccupied for the first good bit of febuary personally ( exciting life stuff ! ) last disclaimer is that at some point i would want to add movies and shows to this list when i get around to it , but for me december and january've kinda blended in that regard.. me and my friends watched Wonka recently and i was kinda so-so on that just cus' i think the original movies a certain way i guess. oops. i think there were other movies/ shows too and comics as well but once again, december-january blurr for me. Furthermore, any piece of media i pick out for this will also have a completely arbitrary doc-ism secondary title just because i feel like it. Enjoy! VIDEO GAMES! ! MARIO GALAXY 2 < SECOND ROUNDEST MARIO GAME >

I wanna say i spent from the first of january to the third on this game, but my Wii Menu calendar is a little fucked up....

Whoops! Regardless, i do have a bit of a background of not completely " gel-ing " with the original Mario Galaxy gameplay wise in my own friendgroup, to mostly dismayed reactions n junk. In short, i think artistically the game's merits are absolutely fantastic, but since i played it on the switch 3d mario collection some time after sunshine, i do think the control scheme is overall pretty limited, and that does apply to mario galaxy 2, i guess, but methodically, i think playing this game on a wiimote does make the limitation feel i guess more fair in terms of like camera control and deliberacy n stuff... the galaxy games and presentation are completely amazing works of art obviously and theres some good music here but i think between galaxy 1 and 2 i definitely prefer 2 mechanically. i enjoy the level scenarios more thats primarily it, i think. I'm so-and-so on how comets work and how many stars you need to get to get to the end ( I think how comets spawn is a little filler-ey and waiting for them to appear in a level i don't know it'll appear in was a little obtuse to figure out, even if i did eventually manage it and actually enjoy the challenges they offer. its mostly just really annoying comet spawning mechanics that were a drag. a very deliberately- controlling mario i guess and being more familiar with galaxy's control probably was why i was able to enjoy this one more ? Yay! I think i still enjoy 3d world more then this and most other 3D marios, though. It's a good video game and i liked the boss fights in it, theyre surprisingly cool and dynamic for what i'm used to from the mario series. I didn't do the special world, though. i wasn't compelled to go that far past the credits. ( You'd think this game's doc-ism title would come from it being the sequel to mario galaxy, and thus, second roundest, but honestly, i think in terms of the mario series scale, Mario Pinball Land has round mario in it, and galaxy 2's starship mario is definitely, i think, rounder then the comet observatory from galaxy one. That makes Mario Galaxy the third-roundest mario game! )

From around the 6th to the 13th, I ended up playing --- ACTRAISER RENAISSANCE < THE CEREAL-BOX GOD GAME >

actraiser is definitely a mixed video game for me, because i definitely see the merit in it. It's a very unconventional splicing of both sidescrolling and city-development game, a " remake " of a novel SNES/Famicom game with the same premise. You're like a big god of light guy who sends your soul into this little warrior guy who cleanses the land of monsters for around 6 different settlements to florish in with the assistance of a cute little angel friend and whatever area's flavor of local legend the game gives you after a story event or two to hold down the place from encroaching monster dens and such; and, apparently exclusive to this version, there's also little tower-defense segments that come in waves around four or five times per area, which in my opinion are kind of this game's weakest link, but not without like Some kind of merit. At the end of each town segment, there is also a big boss fight, usually tying into the story in some way.

( I think one of the things that genuinely pushed me to give the game a try was the cute angel design in it..... ) (I usually take an excessive number of screenshots whenever i'm playing on switch, just because doing so is very easy and i'm a sentimental freak ( For actraiser R, this is 148 screenshots ) ) ( If i continue doing this next month, i'll try to include the foresight to actually use my capture card for images, instead of taking pictures with my phone.. ) ( I think one of the things that genuinely pushed me to give the game a try was the cute angel design in it..... ) (I usually take an excessive number of screenshots whenever i'm playing on switch, just because doing so is very easy and i'm a sentimental freak ( For actraiser R, this is 148 screenshots ) ) ( If i continue doing this next month, i'll try to include the foresight to actually use my capture card for images, instead of taking pictures with my phone.. ) Some things i like that this game does, alot ---

i think it has a very very cool " world select " map. one very postive thing is that it updates in real time with your progress in the area, so you can watch it all expand from your little sky palace once you've done your buisness there. it's really satisfying and pretty... this game's got really good 2d art, i think. I've heard people be mixed on the sidescroller art in comparison, but i think it's got a charm to it. I think it's cute and while its probably more a budgetary limitation, i do like how everything kind of looks like one of those fantasy stills you can sometimes buy from arts and crafts stores. The framerate on them is like a bit lower then what you'd expect from a modern game but mechanically its still very responsive, which makes me feel like it's a stylistic choice to look more stop-motioney, i guess. Maybe im just a fan of ham, i unno.

In terms of the overhead segments, it's pretty basic and automated, which is fine by me, and perfectly workable for what it is, i think, conceptually ( they build out on your own but you do kind of " guide their hand " when it comes to where paths go, at least. It does lead to a weird meta thing being to zap your own people with holy lightning to destroy stuff you don't want though, which feels flavorfully odd for a benevolent god.... I guess it's fair enough

the main problem with the game is that the tower defense segments, the main major feature and addition of this remake, does kind of take the game's pacing and drop flat in the middle of it. They're usually decently long segments where you can only indirectly fight, and are kind of slow. They also usually need you to protect or have a certain number of buildings left by the end of it ( having all of your farms in tact by the end, defending the main temple, not having every house burned down ) which can be a bit more difficult then it sounds. i dont think the segments are bad or anything, there's just.... entirely too many of them??? like mechanically theyre fine they just happen every other second between story events and it feels kind of padded after like the second one in one area, and there's about 5 per area of increasing difficulty. i definitely think if anything could be reined back, it'd be that. I don't think the story is too special , either, the angel kind of just quips sassily about the story at you from time to time and your followers make requests of you at the temple, usually manifesting in the town segements as " have x number of y " or getting the population to a set threshold, or getting x number of resources. The structure of each area isn't shaken up too much, mostly just " new settlement, find a guy, guy isnt so sure about this lord of light guy but through fighting alongside u and some small character arch, they become a champion of yours or something and you meet the scary boss guy and kill them and weaken the big bad dark lords forces behind it all, but there were two segments i liked, both pretty late-game, with the ice wyvern and this guy named shemall whose only affront to you is having a more popular humanitarian ideology ( who actually becomes the dominant ideology in the segment leaving the church literally empty for a good portion of it , and is only tied into the status quo by the dark lord himself possessing the other temple and shit and starting a really really bad storm of eeevil , who i like a bit ) and a boss in the last area who was implied to once be a force of good but ultimately subservient to the bad guys will, which is basic but i tihnk neat. also they have cool designs. )

Shrug! I think it's neat but it has problems that bog it down! Waah! i dont regret playing it or anything but it's like a 7! ( It's kind of like a game you'd get in one of those cereal boxes, and it's a little cheap, but its endearing to me ? ) TOREE 3D < LEAST-CONSEQUENCIAL SPOILER AWARD >

finished this game the same day i finished actraiser, in one sitting. Ummm... i know this game's like a crowd favorite, and it's, like, solid, but i don't really have all that much to say about it ..... Like, it's an OK platformer, with like really great value for your dollar, but i don't really have all that much to say about it, endearment-wise. I think also that the VHS horror elements are largely unnecessary and are kind of whatever, but I know i'm not really the audience for it. That's the spoiler, i guess. Around the same time, in a date range I don't remember, I basically ended up completely reorganizing my room for Life Stuff, and ended up giving a really cool fan project a try, from a series i've always wanted to try more of, if not for the language barrier, in the form of -- STARFY ORIGINS ( Densetsu no Stafy ) < SPLASHABLE VIDEO GAME >

Waaaaaaaa ! i love starfy ( Stafy? ) You probably wouldn't have the background on it unless you knew me, but i'm a real DS head, and one of my earliest games on the system, one i have vivid memories with, was The Legendary Starfy, an " underwater platformer ", mostly known as being a kirby-like game in style, and being the last entry in a mostly untranslated series of platformers that're japanese-exclusive!

Essentially, what this means for me was that there was , for a very long portion of my kid-years, a bunch of video games out there that i knew i'd be instantly endeared by if ONLY i could play them ( since, even at the time, gba emulation for me was kind of mystical and out of my ability ) ; and , at least in my mind, that meant it'd have just as many lovable characters and such as the the starfy I got to play, anecdotaly meaning the only exposure i'd have to these games beforehand is ferverously looking up stuff on the starfy wiki and watching youtube videos of the final bosses and stuff; basically just lementing for years that " aww,, theres no translation. i guess it's just too obscure " with the rest of the starfy fans i've heard about online, until recently! I emulated this game on Vita and overall i'd just have to say its a cute, decently-novel-but-slightly-padded 2d sidescroller. I'd say it was like ok-levels of worth the wait, but im honestly just floored that a translation of the first game happened at all, and i think its awesome what's been done. It's selfish to want, but i'd really like to try the other DS starfy game sometime, whenever that's translated. It's honestly one of the few loose-end games i can even think of and mechanically that one's a whole lot more out there then this one, which, other then the novelty of playing this game i've only heard murmurs of for over a decade, is just kind of alright. kudos to the fan translators making this game work out!!! I wonder if the team that did this have plans for the others now that this game's been translated....

idk i think this green girl is neat and the arcade style bullethell gameplay's really fun on steam deck; i just think the girls should be like 7 years older each then what the game says because the loli aspects of this game are kind of uncomfortable and unavoidable and i don't like them at all... the gothic horror halloween aestetic the game has otherwise absolutely rocks and is just up my alley, though. i guess its just part of the style theyre going for, but it's a really unfortunate Japanese quirk you kind of have to just tolerate for the other Very Good aspects the game has gameplay and artisticly wise ( music and art direction is awesome )

really cool open-world emerald rom hack, similar to crystal clear and the like. I've technically played it already, but this is the first time i've completed it, though i completely broke the game really early into it that undermined it in a way i didnt realize for about 7 gyms, before i accidentally nuked the overworld with a massive bug that scrambled my player's gender and made the overworld color pallete fuck-ey, which, im not ggoing tto blame the developer on, i'm summing that up to a cosmic ray or something. i think with time and with more polish i could see myself liking this more then crystal clear, but time'll see. MIGHTY GUNVOLT < tie in video game i've ever played >

typing this like an hour ins making me realize this docism thing might not stick but mighty gunvolt is neat i guess i never finished it when i first played gunvolt and obsessed over that when it was new ( Mighty gunvolt came as a free download if you bought the first game digitally, you see ) because of the first boss, but now as a more experienced gamer, that's really just because the fire boss is kind of just a weird difficulty spike at the start that the rest of the game difficulty wise doesnt really match up to. It's a cute, very short ( i beat all 3 character campaigns in two hours , liesurely ) platformer styled like megaman, and that's all it really needed to be at the time. i wouldnt go out of my way to play it these days if it wasnt for my own baggage with the gunvolt series in general, and if it wasnt for my much greater affection for its sequel, mighty gunvolt burst.... I'm just gonna say if this game interests you , you really should just play burst instead. Even if you've played the latter before, you're really not missing out on much more then a moderately ok side scroller. it sure is a tie in demake on the early 3ds ! 6180 THE MOON

Surprisingly, this game's on alot of platforms? I just kind of chose it on a whim 'cus it was on the top of the list of H-SHOP stuff and i was looking for something short to play, but it's pretty artsy.

It's a puzzle-platformer where the gimick is that the ball wraps around the screen when you fall down or up, which works really well with the 3ds in my opinion. with the compression and stuff on the 3ds and how the game was laid out, it affectionately reminds me of a flash game you'd find on coolmath or the such, and its very relaxed ( if a little wonky ) . i dont have anything bad to say on it or anything its just a small little game i played on a whim. it's very minimalistic, if you're into that aestetic, you might like this. That's the last of the wholy " new " stuff i finished this month, and id say overall its a solid start for me, and kind of out of season ( very octobery-feeling game lineup in retrospect..! But that month's always usually crowded with obligations and stuff, so i doubt i'd be in a mood for them even at that time of year.. )

Also, i gave a try to cavestory on wiiware, first time i've played the game in a few years now since the switch rerelease! I think its just as fun as i found it when i first discovered it on 3ds, and, while i have a friend who adamantly disagrees, i actually really do like the OST of this version. It's a cute mutation on the games ost that in my opinion enhances the kind of forelorn vibe the game originally had, and i really like the blown up art of this version of cave story, even if it does have nichalis's hands all up in the matter. since it's unlocked from the start, i played the game on Curly Story till the true ending. I still love this game alot. Sometime i'll trick a certain individual into finishing it, i hope.

That's all i have to say! this is the first time i've made such a big post on any kind of social media period, so, hopefully its not unreadably disjointed or self-absorbed. Whatever!

Hi Weird Question, but how many followers would you ballpark say you have gotten from posting about qsmp?

I ask this because Ive been on tumblr for a LONG while, I have run multiple fandom blogs and this is the worst follow to notes ratio I have ever gotten for a blog (it is relativity new as well though). I don't want to sound weird and complain about the number of followers I have, but of the 523 posts in my blog, 38 are original posts. I have 236 notes total from those 38. and zero followers. compared to when one of my other blogs was at this size I would have somewhere of a ballpark of 10ish especially with a few posts chilling way above the average of 6 notes

I feel like this could be an issue much like the issue pertaining to people not reblogging stuff, but also I may need to reevaluate the way im interacting with people on this site >_<.

that's kind of a hard question bc i was gaining followers from the trigun fandom very shortly before i started posting about qsmp, so there was a period of overlap, but i guess when i switched to posting primarily about qsmp i would say i've gained approx. 350-400 followers. i typically get anywhere between 100-1000 notes on any qsmp post i make (excluding liveblogging) and i am apparently a more popular blog because i write fanfiction and make analysis posts on occasion which has made me weirdly well known in some places of the fandom and that is terrifying i hate being perceived HELP

ANYWAY i think a better blog to use as an example would be when i had to use a new blog because this one was unfairly flagged for a couple weeks. i used a previously unused sideblog to liveblog and make posts on since posts on my main wouldn't show up in the main tags. i typically got a fair amount of notes, anywhere between 50 to 200 on each post, but i only ended up with maybe 4 or 5 followers on that blog (excluding mutuals i had advised to follow that blog as a backup in case my main went down forever [which it didn't thank fuck]).

honestly?? i assume the lack of following is because a lot of people in this fandom are very wary. qsmpblr likes to hail itself as better than twitter (and it is in some respects for sure, i'm not denying that), but it feels like everyone in this fandom has some kind of Opinion on Something at all times. there's always something to complain about or criticize about anything, whether it be the admins, an event, another cc's character, a cc themself, etc etc. if you follow a person you will be subjected to all of their opinions on every single issue that pops up, even if it's just a dismissal of whatever current discourse is making its way through the tag (and i'm guilty of this myself sometimes, i'm no angel here). there is not a single day that goes by without something negative crossing my dash regarding something that's going on with the smp. doesn't matter what it is, someone will have something to say about some kind of issue no matter what, and that shit gets tiring. sometimes it's better not to follow people lest you find yourself bombarded with opinions. that way you can still scroll your dash without worrying about seeing untagged discourse and infighting and criticism.

Oh if they switched bodies… Veli would be sooo mad. (assuming Herrscher body and not the original bc Vita with a headmate would be too complicated for a post. feel free to riff of that in a reblog though!)

I think they size difference would be what disturbs them the most, Seele feeling a bit wobbly bc she’s so much taller, and Vita being weirded out by being tiny.

Thankfully Vita could float up to get stuff off shelves but Seele’s just going to have to get used to being tall, maybe remove the heels.

I also feel like Vita would be the type to be sore and stressed so Seele gets into her body and goes ow. you live like this???

Vita would suddenly have Herrscher powers and considering Seele had to go “this power isn’t for pranks” about the Sage stuff… she’s definitely going to pull pranks with Rebirth powers

Regarding the post you reblogged with the question of why they skipped over 2016-2018, when the doc was first announced I wondered if they’d include those years and when they didn’t I can’t say I was too surprised. Mostly bc I assumed those years were too difficult for Louis to talk about. He was grieving his mom at the time, being harassed mercilessly online over his paternity, Larry and being a liar bc 1D still wasn’t back, he was also stepping into his new role like he said with his grandparents of them being the parental figures for his sisters, I assume this was also the time period when Felicite’s battle with addiction began bc Lottie had said at one point that she and Louis tried for a long time to help her and not to mention the constant stalls to his solo career, being an xfactor judge was a huge waste of his time, the album he talked about was completely thrown out and then Felicite passed away. It was just hit after hit of him not being able to catch a break, which he touched on a bit in the doc, but I feel like he didn’t want to sit there and list off all of that happening so he just skipped over it. Plus, Louis himself has never actually talked too much about losing his sister, even in the doc it was very brief and Lottie did most of the talking so I think it’s still a very hard thing for him to talk about. I’d love for one day for him to discuss what happened during 2016-2018 career wise, but that itself I feel could be it’s own multiple part series bc so much was happening behind the scenes.

If they start asking about what was happening professionally 2016-2018, then they’d have to ask why Sony yanked Back To You off radio while it was climbing charts, why Miss You’s music video and Royal Variety performances were done (all while “grieving,” mind you) but never promoted.

Why was LT tour already teased 2017? Why did Louis talk about a “change in sound” when songs on Walls (Always You, Don’t Let It Break Your Heart) came out of songwriting in 2017- early 2018? These songs were written and ready to go for the original album.

And. All the while, he was “grieving.” He was taking care of Fizzy. But still working.

He performed three days after his mother passed away. Hits Live was two months after Fizzy’s death, and he did it.

What the fuck was Sony switching him from Epic to Arista? And then assigning PR people who called him “a small artist who can’t get played on American radio”? Was that Louis “grieving?”

Because if we start talking about all the inconsistencies, because fans were here and we LIVED it in real fucking time? Because you can’t wave a wand and all the blatant industry fuckery gets blamed by Louis’ “grieving” or whatever Larries called it back then? Because nothing can be blamed on Sony, and by extension, on Harry and Rob Stringer.

Cut me a break.

Hii! I’m scared This may come off as a bit weird or something..but I just want to tell u that I really enjoy reading mazaroth! I’ve literally never read a fic w/ oc’s in them, and usually avoid first pov, but I instantly liked your fic and it’s become one of my Deathnote favorites. <3

My fave thing about the fic is how it feels like this real world when I’m reading it. I feel like actually immersing the reader into the world you created yourself is such a hard but important thing to do- and you’ve done such a great job at it!

when the MC is writing to mazaroth I feel like she’s directly talking to me . so when the mc switches from writing in the diary to real life I’m sucked out of this convo between two friends and my little world has abruptly ended, as if someone has interrupted a conversation between two real friends.

I also like the parts where the MC stops writing and is now experiencing the real world around her, bc they just have a really good use of character voice in them. The description of her thoughts and views about what’s around her makes me feel like I’m inside the MC’s head.

And Istg when I see you reblog posts about the struggle of writing I literally cannot relate more haha. I don’t write at all at this point bc of it. if I don’t get something the way I want it right away on the first try then I instantly get discouraged and stop.

good job, at not just having the courage to write and express yourself, but sharing your work. That can be such hard to do, But you did itt! Keep on slaying!! <3

Okay, so you have decided to make me cry.

This literally brightened up my day. You have absolutely no idea what all of this means to me. I read this before getting to my study session, and I kept stopping myself every two minutes and just saying “oh my goodness”.

I can’t even find the right words to thank you, cuz “thank u” is literally not enough to describe how grateful I am for this message.

I do know that OC fics and 1st pov (especially together) are not so popular or liked so wow, seeing you saying that even though you aren’t drawn to them, you still enjoy my fic sends me over the roof.

And you literally described what I was trying to do with it, and the fact that it seems to work… omg. I want the readers to feel like they are part of the Wammy’s, in some type of way, because the original idea was just kind of a slice of life of what I thought L experienced at the Wammy’s. Just a nice cozy story about kid!L, but then I asked myself: why don’t I create situations that could explain why L thinks humans are cunning and why he can’t make friends and what I think the Wammy’s is? And it ended up being this mess, because if I had only focused on him, it would’ve been boring. In my opinion, he doesn’t care about the Wammy’s unless there is someone that pushes him to be part of that world (here, mostly Ayla, Ethe and Lex - in different ways, of course).

I then had to decide the way to write the story, and 1st pov seemed the best, because:

the diary is relevant, not only to make the reader feel like Ethe is talking to them, but it’s actually very very important to the plot.

she is part of the wammy’s, even if she feels like an intruder, so she can explain how it works, give her opinions, be judgemental asf, talk about what happened in the years prior and about other people there without being like random info-dumping.

she is the main person who initiates any conflict with L and I have this thing of trying to make the reader hate a canon character – like in my first ever dn fanfic, L was a huge asshole; not only he blamed the MC’s brother of her murder, but he then sent him to the death row, after making him get some important documents for him – so I need the reader to follow Ethe’s thought process, even though they might not have all the pieces, and be on her side, otherwise it would’ve been a random ass person that literally attacks L out of nowhere.

related to point above, if the reader doesn’t know L’s pov, I can make him do all his behind-the-scenes tricks and they will know about them once Ethe will too.

It’s also very angsty, and I feel like this is done best when you exactly know how the character feels and thinks lmao.

But anyway, about the diary making it seem like you are having a conversation with her – this only makes me want to finish it as soon as possible, because the last chapter is actually the first chapter I thought about, like I exactly knew how to end this story before even starting to write it lmaoo

I started to write when I was 13 and I published stuff I am deeply ashamed of, but if I hadn’t that, I would’ve not been here. It was a pile of flaming dog shit, but it was fun, so I kept writing. Even if no one was there to read it. I had my ups and downs. I deleted stuff, I republished it, I went back to rewrite them, I had months in which I didn’t touch the story once and so on. The writing process is anything but a linear one, and that’s fine, because that means you are growing.

And I totally get what it means to want something to be in a certain way the first time. I too have this problem, to this day, after years of writing, and to be honest, because I don’t hold the secrets of the universe, I don’t have a solution. In the past, when something like that happened, I would try to focus on some other fics, hoping that some type of blessing would fall upon me, but nowadays, I continue to write the same story and keep the part I don’t like as it is, until I go back to edit it. Usually, I end up changing that part and it fits better, because I know what it comes next and can easily connect the two.

Actually, that happened to me yesterday. I was writing the 16th October chapter, and I wrote up to a certain part and I know what I needed to write at the end of it, but the middle part – I had absolutely no clue, so what I did was writing some sentences that I needed to remember to add in the middle part and went directly to the part I had in mind. Then I went back to fill the gap.

I also feel like something that really helps is having an outline and write chapters without publishing them or editing them.

I used not to write an outline and to publish chapters as I was done writing them, and that’s why I never completed any story, because I didn’t know where the story was supposed to go and what exactly should happen to these characters. I just had in mind some scenes and tried to connect them. It was honestly a mess. And I am not saying that you can’t do this, but if you are someone like me, outlining seems like a chore but it is actually so useful, also because while you are writing it, you get all these new ideas you never thought of and you can now add them where it fits best and you can clearly see where the story is going.

It takes a while, not going to lie. I had to create a notion template to keep track of everything. It took me almost two months (jan-feb of this year) to finish it (because it had a lot of chapters so that was my bad – usually fics are not this long so it might take less) and since then, I managed to write 15 chapters (that are yet to be published). Considering that it took me two years to write the first 10 chapters of Mazzaroth, it is an improvement. And it’s because now I know what to write for each chapter, so I don’t need to ponder, after I finish one, what’s going to be next, I just write.

I still need a lot of time to get things started if I have no idea how Ethe should say to Mazzaroth, but it doesn’t take me so long anymore.

Since it is not a race, taking your time to write things as you want is really important. For me, publishing is also a factor that discourages me sometimes, because now other people will be aware of it, so I learnt to write as many chapters as possible, until my motivation naturally disappears, because interests can change over time. So, maybe, take in consideration that this could a factor for you too. Also don't focus too much on how things are written in the first draft. First draft is about the content not the presentation.

This is all the advice I can give, because other stuff may be more personal, but writing is a learning process and there should be no shame in it. You can’t get everything right at first try, and I think it’s better because you can’t improve if you don’t have a benchmark to start from, which should be only your older fics, in my opinion, cuz comparison to others could lead to lose motivation – “I will never be like them” and you don’t have to. If we were copies of one another, there would be no diversity and that would be extremely boring.

Actually hold up I reblogged that previous work from home (WFH) post and I have to vent

My company switched to a full WFH program bc of Covid and later when Covid “died down” they told us that the company was dedicated to giving employees a flexible program so we could go in more if we wanted or not if we didn’t. Cool right?

Then last month they said lol we are bringing you all back to the office unless you live too far from an office or have a medical reason. We get to decide what those mean btw. If you think you live too far to commute but we don’t think so then get fucked.

My coworker, who works from home to take care of her husband suffering from Alzheimer’s and a son with Down syndrome, got denied an exception. Another employee, who brought her mother to the US to live with her from abroad bc of her dementia, was also denied. The medical exception only applies to the workers themselves who have a medical reason. Anything else is literally “not in our policy”.

My manager, a single mom with no family in town, spoke with an executive that made this return to office decision about what she’s supposed to do now that she has to leave her children alone at home and he said “oh I didn’t think of that.” THATS WHAT THEY DO we literally get fun company brand swag and snack boxes but never does a higher up executive think in the shoes of an average employee. They made the decision to return everyone after interviewing in person only the wishes of those that had returned to the office. They also have too much real estate but don’t want to sell it I guess

I don’t have a point except right now companies get to decide who has valid reasons to work from home and who don’t, because the situation is so new that nothing is really codified . They use the phrase “the new normal” to recontextualize the original status quo that worked for big business back into the current “post Covid” set of expectations and I’m sooooo pissed

I am not making blogs to interact with you. I made one blog after deleting my original and then deleted that one as well. I have a blank lurker blog so that I can read fics and that is all. I don’t talk to anyone, I don’t send messages, I don’t reblog or like anything, I don’t use an active blog anymore.

The only reason I am messaging now is to ask that you please stop saying negative things about me to people and to ask if you would be willing to delete any asks that were tagged with my name and delete the edits that were shared to the net blog. All I want us to quietly disappear.

I Have no intention of messaging again after this I’m only messaging to ask that those things be deleted. I just want to be left alone and forgotten. I don’t want to interact with you or anyone else, I don’t wanna be an active part of any fandom after this experience. I hope that you won’t publish this and that you might be willing to delete those things. Thank you.

Watched School of Chocolate and I loved it for the most part. It was, indeed, a school and Chef Amaury did teach the contestants quite a bit about working with chocolate and pastries. And the contestants were really talented and open to learn and compete.

Didn't care for Melissa, tho. She kept using that tired "I'm used to being the boss" line people use when they don't want to be respectful of their teammates. She acted annoyed by anyones ideas but her own and was convinced that if she wasn't in control then they wouldn't succeed. She was condescending, nitpicking, passive aggressive and tiresome. So when her plan to use Tyricia to win a challenge bc she just knew she was better than her actually backfired, you'd best believe I cackled loudly. "How did she win off of my piece?" like they didn't build that thing together. Cry me river, bitch.

*ahem* Overall the show is very enjoyable and a quick watch 😀

Bel Air is looking mighty good after these first episodes. The casting and characterizations are wonderful and the rebooted storyline is the very definition of a fresh take. If you were a fan of the original 90s sitcom you'll recognize the obvious plot points immediately and how they've been made to fit the show's altered direction. The changes made to cover the switch from mid 90s to early 2020s are all simple enough to be believable. The show has been made over into a full blown drama that gets heavier every episode but still has heart and humor. There's even some interesting new character dynamics to make sure the hour long episodes aren't completely focused on Will, even though he is still the main. It's a re-imagining in the truest sense and imo really enjoyable.

Wakanda Forever is awesome from beginning to end. I really must give props to everyone involved bc it is absolutely fantastic. There were tears, of course, at the dedications, flashbacks and homages to Chadwick Boseman. But the story moves on and it does so with a clear direction. I was glued to the story and not a moment or character was wasted or misused. I honestly haven't enjoyed a Marvel film this much since the first Black Panther. If you're on the fence or worried that it failed as a worthy sequel I can tell you (in my opinion) you have nothing to fear. Wakanda Forever is a great movie and you should go see it.

🗣"FUCK YOU, SHORSEY!!" Those brilliant bastards at Letterkenny took an Atari-style blip of one dimensional comedic relief and respawned him into a fully rendered high definition protagonist complete with a backstory and a character arc. I would not have believed it if I had not seen it (and I would not have seen it if Hulu didn't remember how much I like Letterkenny and suggest the show bc I had completely forgotten about it).

In six episodes they manage to show that Shorsey is not just a talented and hyper competitive hockey playing asshole with unmatched shit talking skills and a penchant for pulling off violent dirty plays. It's revealed that he has a lot that he truly cares about: winning, loyalty, family, and his team. They take him past being enjoyable for being funny and make him likable for being himself. But he's still as ruthlessly insulting as ever so don't think he's gone soft. The show also introduced a slew of all new characters in a brand new town and they're just as uniquely endearing as anyone Shorsey left behind in Letterkenny. Since it's from Jared Keeso and company there were lots of well earned laughs to go with a rather interesting plot. If you're already a fan of Letterkenny I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised by what's been built out of Shorsey, so check it out

● experience / how long ( months / years? ) ; i’ve been rping since i was 13, but for tumblr rp specifically i started in 2015!! and then took a much needed break from 2017-2019. i’ve always loved rping but the rp community back then was uhhhhh not as supportive of trans ppl or characters. it seems to have gotten better tho

● best experience ; i think anything i’ve done with my friend @carnivorarium // @phantasmaw!! i can’t really pinpoint a specific experience, but plotting and rping with them has been really fun and has really helped me get back into rping as a whole. IDK i was just so nervous when i first came back but she was super cool and nice and our characters hit it off super well!!

this isn’t a tumblr rp experience but back in 2015 me and a friend created this huge fantasy world with all kinds of characters and we had the whole rp plotted out till the very end. i cant remember much of what we established but i remember it being really in-depth and thought out LSJHGKF i was always so excited whenever we both found the time to sit down and toss replies back and forth to each other. but then a few months later the website we rped on didn’t exist anymore and we ended up losing contact. i really wish i could go back and read everything we sent each other but im pretty sure i cant

● RP PET PEEVES / DEALBREAKERS ;

i actually have a lot and that’s why im so selective LDJFHK like the tumblr rpc has gotten better, yeah, but there is still so much room for improvement.

1. being needlessly mean/high school bully level pettiness. Like bro there’s certain ppl on this website that do nothing but frequently make these long ass posts complaining abt how their oc(s) are better than everyone else’s, bc everyone else’s aren’t as “thought out, original, interesting, ect enough” and like? i just dont get it. i genuinely do not understand why ppl are so willing to kiss these specific kinds of ppl’s asses. the MOMENT i see any kind of “my oc is better than other ocs and here is a list as to why:” i refuse to interact. be proud of ur characters, but dont act like ur better than everyone else? i’ve also seen someone make a #girlboss post abt how “yeah there’s certain ppl on this website that want to avoid me so i go out of my way to befriend all of THEIR friends so they can never get rid of me :)” yeah ur weird. u are full on weird. u have not matured past 14.

2. any complaining abt mlm and wlw. this includes ‘gay ships are so popular online that m/f just doesnt exist anymore.’/’everyone just wants to have gay ships so i’m going to get back at them by only shipping m/f.’ i dont think i should even have to explain why complaining abt gay ppl finally being able to indulge in fictional gay relationships is a fucked up thing to do and yet ppl still do it. stop having this ‘i have to get back at gay ppl’ mindset.. it’s gross

3. when i say no to a romantic and/or sexual relationship and all interest from the other person is lost. im not hurt when this happens, but it gets so annoying. if i say no to a ship and all interactions are suddenly cut off, it is so obvious to what ur intentions were and i really don’t appreciate it. my characters aren’t shipping fodder for yours. i know it can suck when someone says no to a possible ship, but it’s also so shitty to take that ‘no’ and then deliberately ignore the person just bc they refused u. it’s obvious, and i do notice it.

4. this is a personal preference ig but i dont like the ongoing trend of ‘my trans character was SA’d for being trans’ that is suddenly so.. popular within the tumblr rpc. it really grosses me out and i cant stand seeing it and i dont want mentions of that on my dash at all. it’s a no-no for me.

● MUSE PREFERENCES ; fluff, angst or smut ; all three! tho i’m kinda selective with angst and even more-so with smut. i like to get a feel for someone and their character first before i rp angst, bc there’s been a lot of times i’ll be rping with someone and they would pile angst after angst on top of their character over and over again to the point it just got.. kinda ridiculous. like i love angst but sometimes ppl just get too caught up with making their characters go through the most fucked up shit as much as possible as a plot device. listen i love dragging my characters through the mud too but after awhile it gets repetitive and boring ;;v;;

i love writing smut but given that ayalon rarely feels sexual attraction to other ppl and when he DOES he’s too busy just bullying them so. smut writing here might not be that big of a thing LKJDHFK fluff is a free for all tho!! he wants to knead on everyone like a cat and pull on them like laffy taffy. that’s ayalon being soft.

● ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S) ; i think everyone’s got a little piece of themselves in their muses!! it’s hard not to. but damn i WISH i was a giant goth dude with great hair. i guess the biggest thing we have in common is that we’re both pretty stubborn when we have our minds set on something

I did this as a trade for a character w/ @/kuy on TH and I'm pretty happy with the character I got in return which I'll hopefully show soon if I'm not too caught up in my own web of art of my character hoard

So first up is gonna be how I drew Chocolate Kiss :3 I knew I was gonna draw a fullbody and the instant I saw Chocolate Kiss, I just knew I was gonna draw something soft with flowers and stuff, so I looked about online (was not happy with the Unsplash search results for what I wanted) and found this lovely picture (I tried to find the origin but ended at chasingdaisiesblog.com). I liked the sunset and wanted to work on my tone matching for environments and whatnot, which having a field vs a studio definitely helped that practice lol Anyway, I did realize that the specific lighting on this bub isn't exactly accurate to how a subject in that scene would look but it does look pretty and that's all that matters. Plus I added lil fireflies kinda thing bc pretty. This is prolly one of my fav pieces this year lol

Next up - Merlin! So this was a headshot and I started with a half body because I was trying to plot out the hands before cropping it up to a bust shot. In Merlin's bio, it said he is the lead singer in a band, and while I was plotting out the other drawing, I had initially thought of drawing him with a moody microphone on stage but I figured that is too typical of an approach. When I began his sketch, I searched references for studios and just traced over a microphone (there's no way in hell you're gonna make me draw a studio mic on my own w/o it lookin hella wonky). The pose just felt natural and I didn't use much reference aside from like 3 pictures of my own hands just to draw his right hand lol The lighting- I saw a post on Pinterest of someone suggesting warm shadows and cool lighting. I used to use this kind of thing all the time like 2 years ago, but I switched to warm all around or cool all around to study lighting better for the past year, but goin back to that felt funny and I feel set a pretty good studio tone for the most part. Ngl, I'm not /as/ happy abt this one, but I think my feelings on em even out because of my first drawing.

F/A War Timeline of Important Events (as of 3/13/2022)

…bonjour!! Lorekeeper Lyr here! (hehe it aliterate AND rhyme)

it’s been a while since this creative mess has been updated! if any new guys here are wondering why i’m here with this… thing, it’s because i’m one of the only people who can comprehend the Fluff/Angst War events!

and i’m pretty sure i’m bad at comprehension!

so i wrote a synopsis for new folks… right under the cut, bc i realized that THIS was getting long!

also here’s a guide to reading the timeline: newly added events are highlighted in red, additional notes are indicated with ADD/N

and any info from cc’s and/or offscreen info is encased in {curly brackets, while important pieces of plot are in [square brackets]!

for some reason, the art side of the SIX the Musical fandom started a war between Fluff & Angst (like… the fanfic stuff), due to how the fandom’s almost perfectly split between one or the other.

sooner or later, the First War had begun, which was mostly drawing ourselves in one of 3 sides: The Fluff Side, the Angst Side, and… Team Switzerland. y e p.

(except for Astro, the sole exception who made himself switch sides in order to make things equal)

back then, there was… not much lore, and it was mostly just fun banter and speculations abt our role in the War!

that is, until next year, when one of the Fluff people, DJ, posted an animatic filled with stuff abt what could’ve happened in the First War back in 2020. this made the sole member of Team Switzerland, Rowan, to make the comic that introduced the Second War, starting the creation of lore of such complicatedness that it might be rivaling that of Homestuck but not quite.

oh yeah, and not only Team Switzerland changed their name to the Furry Side, but two new factions rose up in the midst ofthe Second War: the short-lived War Criminals, newcomers who wanted to cause chaos and arson; and the Clean-Up Crew, a powerful duo of Gods who formerly sided with one of the two main teams, and whose main goal is to kil- er, ‘clean up’ people.

"i get it that you're into astronomy and the likes but mark, it's past six." you reasoned out from the front seat as you talk to your best friend who was by the trunk arranging whatever he packed. "first, i'm not that deep into the study unlike professionals and astrophiles but you already agreed so shut up!" mark looks at you from the back as he smiles at you who was slightly annoyed.

"a pillow or moomin?" mark walked to your side, barricading you to your seat as he slightly leans towards you, a hand on the door keeping the car wide open as the other rested near the headrest. "moomin please" you pushed mark slightly away as you watched him dash into the house for the soft plushie. you chuckled at how he treats you like a kid— what he always does when you're having those rough weeks. you watched him lock the house and come back with the white plush in hand.

he gets settled in the driver's seat as he starts buckles up, royally handing the toy over to you "one moomin m'lady" he slightly bows down while handing it over, another episode of him being goofy. you played along and smiled before mark fully started the drive towards the park.

the drive was not silent as mark kept the atmosphere busy with a few of ed sheeran's songs playing through his stereo. with the songs playing mark felt vague; he felt butterflies yet he felt his chest gradually getting heavier. photograph, thinking out loud and eventually to happier. playing those songs he realized, no, he knew very well that they had something in common.

that they all reminded him of you.

his gallery and even actual photographs always had you beside him, complete attendance from his adorable childhood to his questionable high school era. thinking out loud because he sees you much more as his confidant, his best friend. all the 'i love you's he showered you with from time to time meant much more than how you saught it as. he feels at peace by seeing you smile and his heart never fails to flutter when he feels your head cozied up by his chest.

and to happier as he knows that you were least likely to become his. he hesitated to confess despite all his others friends convinced you felt the same way. he wouldn't want to go through the pain of rejection and turn the years of friendship all awkward of a sudden.

it has been going on for a great while and the only thing mark could do was to show signs without making it obvious, like how he queued the songs in that order.

you had a rough week and it only seems to get rougher. what hurt you hurt mark as well, so he always goes berserk just to make you lighten up from your burdening feelings.

you and mark always had a bucket list of stuff you both wanted to do. and mark felt it was a perfect time to cross one out; a date under the night sky.

a friendly date despite how mark wanted it to be an actual one.

mark felt lucky knowing that same night had a lunar eclipse (and surprisingly a super moon) was supposed to show and he just had to seize the opportunity. he made sure to bring binoculars, comfy blankets to rest on and of course, the requested moomin plush renjun gifted him for christmas.

the park was nearby and mark felt giddy. focused on humming and driving mark overheard a few shutters and felt the gut feeling of a camera pointing at him. "i better look hot in those" he joked as he glanced at you through the mirror. "i was taking pictures of the cherry blossom, dumbass" you chuckled as you proceeded to snap a few pictures of mark. you then moved over to your instagram to spam about the sudden trip. "one last, look" you scooted closer to mark's side to take a pic with him, just before the traffic light switched to green. both of you looking sweet, you smiled to yourself.

you were finally settling down on the blanket sprawled over the grass, the view of the waters from the distance and the moon above continuing its eclipse. mark who was sitting up, set aside the binoculars, and laid beside you. he turned to his side as he watched you. "so, a check on the bucket list?" mark smiled hoping you'd say yes.

"well, my best friend is much better than other than an invisible boyfriend." mark smiled through the stinging pain. 'yeah, best friend' he thought to himself.

"don't you get tired of being by my side?" you looked up to the sky, feeling a bit doubtful.

"and why would you think so?"

"it's more or less two decades of us constantly by each other's side. and the things you'd do just to get me out of my—"

"y/n, if you're hurt, i get hurt too. i'm always here for you, no matter how stupid and annoying you could be at times. if i went through my whole life with you by my side, why would i suddenly stray away?" mark softly patted your cheek, drying off the few tears that rolled down. you came closer to mark and hugged him, nuzzling by his chest and scent. "and you know how much i love you right?" you nodded as you continued to nest under him.

mark would've been jumping in joy. but tracing back a few words, there he reminded himself of the word 'best friend'.

mark hugged you back as he secretly logged into his instagram as well, he distracted himself by viewing a few of the stories. your story came in after a few taps and there showed a picture of him driving, captioned with a black heart. "sure, keep on hoping minhyung." he thought to himself once again.

he finally decided to create his own with the picture he secretly took of you earlier. he thought of the caption for a while until he ended up with "wished you we're mine." he posts storied like these on the daily, he just made sure to set it into the close friends setting to avoid you from seeing it. he quickly tapped the post option as he felt you move and sat up.

"look! it's red!" you pointed at the moon, smiling as you were amazed by the phenomenon. you pulled mark up from his position and continued to look at the dark sky. it indeed was beautiful. mark inserted his phone back into his pocket as he cupped your shoulder, watching you admire the heavenly bodies above.

feeling done, you glanced at mark who was still looking up. you watched your best friend enjoy his own time as you felt a small vibrate off your phone. you quickly checked the notification as it came from... mark?

" [y/nmais_vu] : @onyourm__mark posted a new story ! "

checking it, you wondered when mark was able to snap a quick photo of you, but you wondered more about the caption. you felt your heartbeats go rapid and your stomach starts to churn. "y/n?" mark called as you quickly locked your phone. "you alright?"

"yeah... nothing much, just story notifs." you smiled and sat closer to mark. he hums as he proceeds to wrap his free arm around your shoulders, continuing to watch over the distance. "did you make a wish?" you asked mark who was finally looking back at you with an unsure expression. "we're supposed to wish! go on, " you nudged mark as he spaced out for a moment, staring at a star. "starlight, star bright, the first star i see tonight!" you both burst into laughs "what are we? pre-school?" mark smiled as he continued to stay silent.

"you made me wish on a star now tell me what you asked for," mark turns facing you. you stayed silent for a while as you looked up to the ending eclipse above. "i actually had two wishes" you pulled out a few blades of grass, avoiding his eyes. "first, was for your wish to come true," you fully faced mark as you took the plush into your hands, fiddling with it.

"second, ... i also wished for you to be mine" you smiled at mark whose face was indecipherable. "wait, what?" you noticed how his cheeks were lightly brushed with blush. "it was your notif, mark."

right there, mark realized that he failed to upload the story to the selected option. "i... well, you did suddenly moved and made me panic." mark chuckled as he continues to study your eyes that were glistening under the soft lights of the surroundings. "your turn. what did you wish for?"

mark came closer to you as he tucks some hair behind your ear, "it just came true." he whispered as he quickly diverted his vision towards the tree nearby. you softly held mark's chin as you got him to face you, your body suddenly heating up inside the white crewneck sweatshirt you were wearing. you both felt euphoric as the sudden confession still felt unreal. you both felt rewarded after keeping in the hopes and feelings for one another.

unconsciously, you both started to close in while the background started to seem blurry, and the only things that were clear to your visions were each other. "can i?" granting him permission mark closed the gap in between both of you, feeling his own soft set above yours. you returned the favor as you cautiously mimicked what mark did, creating a slow rhythm for the both of you.

lasting a good few seconds, you both broke away with heated cheeks and pleased hearts. mark pulled you closer as he now has you in between in him, hugging you from behind. he laid you back into his chest and placed one more kiss, smiling afterward. you locked your phone once again after posting another story. (check below) you both were glad that the wishes of becoming each other's pair were finally granted. mark continued to sway you in his arm, looking up at the succeeding eclipse. "hey y/n,"

"the moon is beautiful, isn't it?"
