I forgot to mention that I saw the trailer for the new the The Hunger Games movie when I went and saw Blue Beetle (the prequel, you know?) and it does look really good (even though at first I was unsure about it). I'm probably for sure going to see it when it comes out. Though this will be the first time that I haven't read the book first... unless I do end up reading the book between now and then.
#friends how do we feel about the 'the ballad of songbirds and snakes' novel?#because for me personally. and a lot of people i know... i honestly preferred the hunger games movies more than the books (even though you#have to love and appreciate the books. of course. because without them there would be no films)#is it the same with the prequel?#though i also know that many fans prefer the books and hate the movies: thinking the movies left out too much and that kind of thing#but yeah. since i DID prefer the movies. and think there's a good chance it might be the same way again. i'm thinking i might just watch th#movie first or maybe not even read the book at all#even though i'm usually of the mind of always reading the book. of course. and usually first#i think my reasons for preferring the movies are as follows... i really hated katniss in the books. i'm sorry. but i did. but seeing her#brought to life with the way jennifer lawrence played her really made me love her#also. people complain about some things the movies left out. and i definitely get that. to each their own#but i personally love the things the movies ADDED! that we didn't get to see since we're stuck in katniss' pov. that i think just bettered#the stories so much#and some (surely not all) of the things that were left out that people complained about i feel like aren't THAT needed?#like they didn't explain the avoxes#but i also feel like if you're smart you can clearly figure out what the capitol did to them#idk. this is just my opinion of course. anyone is free to disagree#but i say all as this as someone who isn't SUPER into the hunger games#i only read the books once. years ago. and i haven't seen the movies in a while. so i'm sure there are things i may have forgotten and migh#be getting wrong here#oh! another thing too is that i've seen people mention that they felt like suzanne collins' writing style with thg is almost script-like.#even though it's not a script of course#and that that might be another reason that i. and so many others prefer them as movies#because it was almost like she was writing the books TO be made into movies

There's a tendency in the Marauders fandom that I don't think I've ever seen to this extent before, of making no distinction between headcanon/fanon and canon. Granted, I only started getting back into fandom stuff within the past year, but I was involved with a lot of different ones in my teens and early twenties, including an earlier version of the HP fandom. There was always a distinction.
With Marauders fandom, it's not just "I totally forgot Remus isn't obsessed with chocolate in canon" or "it never actually says Mary and Lily were close friends, but I think it makes sense if they were." A lot of the time, there's no distinction at all between what was in canon, what was in a really popular popular fanfic, and what somebody just made up five minutes ago. It's more like:
"I think people forget that [headcanon]"
"It's so sad that [headcanon]"
"When [headcanon happened], [character] totally [did/felt/thought] [whatever]"
And it's so often totally out-of-left-field stuff that has nothing to do with canon - ships that are never even hinted at, details about characters that are literally mentioned once, etc. Or even things that directly contradict canon, not as AU/canon divergence ideas, but as facts.
Is this because we all hate JKR? Because a lot of newer fans haven't read the books/seen the movies? IDK, but I feel like there's an issue with just stating things as fact when they're very much not. Like, I'd rather read about why someone thinks [insert headcanon here] - whether that involves analyzing and critiquing the canon text or something as simple as "I think it would be cool." Headcanons are great! But I think something gets lost when we forget they're headcanons.

hii! honeslty just curious, I read/watched kuroshitsuji AGES ago and I don't think I've finished the manga anyway, does grell go by she/her?? I vageuly remember ppl headcanonning them as enby though iirc in canon he's a guy?
Your tags peaked my curiosity, I haven't seen any Kuro content in a hot minute, but I remember it being the absolute must watch in my peak anime watching years lol And I absolutely loved the manga's artstyle
in canon grell is a trans woman, yana toboso has said something like "grell is a man with a woman's heart" ages ago and sometimes around 2014/16 had tweeted something about wanting to be more careful with her representation of people like grell in the future, don't quote me on that thought because i only read that tweet once and only remember reading a shitty screenshot of a translation of that interview where she allegedly said that.
i can however show you this:
Tumblr media
it's from a bonus chapter (after chapter 108) about the popularity polls (it's a very convoluted non canon chapter) but it's one of the most blatant example of her being trans.
there's also the way she constantly refers to herself as a "young maiden" ect. idk how it goes exactly in the og but in french they translated it so grell always refers to herself with feminine terms while everyone else misgender her including the narrator. she very consistently reaffirm herself as a woman through every single ones of her appearances, like it's a thing she very much does, every single time she's on screen.
i haven't watched the anime in forever (cause it's kind of a disgrace and insult to the manga lol) but if i remember properly (which i mostly likely don't) they did omit/lowkey censor some of grell explicitly going "i wish i had been born a woman/could have been able to carry children" when she first properly introduce herself as a shinigami & the other half of jack the killer. (the anime also really did lean a lot more into the pervert queer caricature whereas in the manga she's given a bit more dignity, especially the further the story goes. though that might be my own impression and maybe it didn't change that much i just love her a whole lot).
also because i have to, please forget the anime (the first two seasons that is) and read the manga first and foremost because oh boy, what a disaster the anime is (nostlagia and atmosphere wise it's entertaining, i really love the op & ed, but it just, i just cant man it doesn't even compare to the manga at all). only watch book of circus -> book of murder -> campania movie -> the new private school arc that's coming soon (idk what they called it) after reading the manga.

9 books that are my favourites
tagged by @arenee1999 a few days ago, thank you <3 as i was writing this list in my head last night, i thought - this could be read as a list of my favourite fandoms and television/film adaptations, but hey ho. i did a degree in english lit or something.
harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban by JKR - no book has been so important to my life and i also just think it's a really fun mystery and i still like it, so - it's here, it's staying.
carry on by rainbow rowell - but of course. this one was quite important too.
pride and prejudice by jane austen - i don't think this has ever made a fav book list before, i think because i thought it was too basic, but damnit - this book is great, it influences the way i write enemies to lovers, i love the 1995 adaptation and all of austen's novels are bangers except mansfield park, which i keep trying to like but it sucks.
the once and future king by TH white - all my life i loved the movie 'camelot' and it's depiction of arthur. i only learned as an adult that it was TH white's gentle, earnest, thwarted arthur that they'd used <3 he's perfect. 'ill-made knight' is the best of the series, IMO
lieutenant hornblower by cs forester - i haven't read the books in ages, so maybe it's time for a re-read. the ioan grufford adaptation is great, i wish they'd do the later/earlier books too! BUT this early (in hornblower's life) book is my fav - the only one told from bush's POV as he struggles with how he loves hornblower but worries the guy wants to do a mutiny (which he totally does)
the folk of the air by holly black - a new entrant even though i've loved it for years, but i've decided i don't just think it's really good, it's so good that it's one of my favs. maybe the best of the trilogy is the middle book, 'wicked king' where jude is in power with limited support and they fall in love (or do they???). how the king of elfham learned to hate stories is also brilliant.
'the emperor mage' by tamora pierce. i've been waiting my whole life for the numair book and it was terrible, but her first three trilogies are my absolute crack, and this is the best book of those series IMO. the bit where numair tries to hit the emperor for implying he loves his student daine (which he does) while she's listening but disguised as a bird - and then he fakes his own death, and daine goes crazy... that bit has stayed with me for decades, i love it so much.
'night watch' by terry pratchett. i still feel late to properly loving pterry, but i've always liked this one and now i love it - vimes is my guy, i love the time travel, that he trains himself, that he resists both passively and when required actively. v good. my next fav is probably ... 'monstrous regiment', which i think is a bit more of a weird choice (unlike this one which is mega popular and also about all the things i like), but it just does everything right! oh, 'and 'going postal'.
'the princess bride' by s morgenstern william goldman. i haven't read this for ages either so maybe it shouldn't make the list, but i expect it's still pretty great. a mindfuck for a young child who has only seen the film and thinks all of the frame narrative must therefore be real... also, the film is like one of the best films ever and i have seen that super recently. if you haven't seen the home movie, do yourself a favour and watch it because it's a great way to enjoy the movie a-new.
no idea where this meme has been already. so just saying hello to some folks and if you'd like to do this meme and haven't done it already, please do! @giishu @orange-peony @you-remind-me-of-the-babe @carryonvisinata @alleycat0306 @fight-surrender @cows4247 @messofthejess @mysterioussheep

4 years, 40 facts about me loving napo... let's go 🏃🏻‍♀️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...or as @leonscape called it, 40 "Mopoleon" facts?! (picrew link)
the date of our "anniversary", June 19th, is one day after the date of the battle of Waterloo 💀
both our given names are of Italian origin
we're both leo zodiac signs
our birthdays are 8 days apart, in the same month
he's my first otome route ever played
i've only played his route once, in July 2019
i've never seen his dramatic ending
my first impression of him on a teaser tweet of ikevamp EN was that he looks like an asshole, and I didn't like his looks either...
my falling for him was utterly illogical as despite these thoughts I put him on my phone wallpaper a few days later (still before the release of ikevamp EN)
as of right now ao3 says he appears in 59 of my posted works: the total number of fics I have published with him is higher as a few of those are stand-alones in a multichapter fic (napoleon bday prompts 2019 +9, yumeweek 2020 +5, mini requests +4, headcanons +11 ) ...he appears in about 1/3 of all my fics!
we share a hobby of reading biographies! the official ikevamp character sheets state it as his hobby
our height difference is 18 cm
the @xxsycamore blog exists solely because of him, as well as my passion for writing - I started this blog because I wanted to express my love in some kind of creative way, as previously (and for the longest time) I thought my medium would be art instead of writing
despite that, my first ever posted fic is not with him but with Arthur!
I've always loved languages but he had influence over my choice of learning especially french in uni. It's hell but I don't regret it at all
I have a playlist with sleepy-themed songs for him 🥺
birds are my favorite animals (any kind) and he has a pet eagle!!
our mbti personality types are a so-called perfect match! infp + enfj
I don't like black-haired, blue-eyed men because of him, it was my type before him too! (not many such ikemens around but I have a handful of faves like that from other media)
as the fictional napoleon bonaparte is light years away from the historical figure, I thought I wouldn't be interested in learning about him - until I ended up reading multiple books on him, the thickest of which 680 pages... while I don't mix the two in my head, the napoleonic era history (+ russian empire history) is still pretty cool to know imo!
there's hardly any writer around here who hasn't received a napoleon request from me at least once... I'm so sorry...
it is implied in the game that napo has kissed boys (they were taking turns waking him up and they all know of his habit......) which gives me enough reason to headcanon him as bi....like me 🥺
I really suck at completing the bday creation challenges I host for him, as last year I did 0 prompts and the year before that 2....but in 2019 I did 10!
I love making bday gifts. I love birthdays. I don't have the exact number but last year a lot of characters received a bday fic from me but not napo 💀 partly because I was shadowbanned back then!
the only real tradition I have when it comes to his bday is to make homemade crepes since it's his favorite food! but my favorite part is eating them...
I still haven't watched the movie "Napoleon & Me"...
I don't have much napo merch, but I do have the Naplushieon doll which is plenty
I was still in highschool (11th grade) when I fell for him 🥺🥺🥺 it feels like ages ago
I love the song written for the ikevamp stage play and sung by his voice actor Nobunaga Shimazaki, "Lucida", so much you can even find it and play it on my blog... recently some kind soul uploaded the whole version on youtube (I've been waiting for so long....) and I haven't been the same since
my dream napo merch is the clothes hanger with his neck and face so that I can hang my silly little sundresses on him (I'm going to make it on my own actually, just watch)
after having so many random fic ideas for him that will never see the light of day, I accepted the facts at last and now I feel so much better and more chill
I'm currently working on fanart series where I try to post one tablet-drawn art of him every month... I have trouble keeping them simple as desired sometimes but I'm having lots of fun while learning (I still consider myself fairly new to drawing with my tablet)
once I wrote a death anniversary fic for napo!
the best napo song i've discovered so far is Wings by Su!YoON!
I don't know. anything. about his sequel. i just know the cgs. not that is hard to avoid spoilers LMAO
my most favorite napo cg is the 5th bday one (where they're in a field of roses) (it was on my phone's background for a very long time)
my most favorite napo card...that's a trick question but I think the one that is on the left banner in my blog (desktop view)
yes, yes I do want to go to Corsica one day what about it. I have a lot of other dream trip destinations too!
yes, I do love Napoleon cake (It's a russian recipe) (it was my bday cake in 2020)... but so do I love a whole lot of other cakes...!
Fact number 40 is that I love Napoleon a normal amount 😇 nono listen!! I do talk a lot about him, and here I tried compilating facts that are not too cheesy: believe it or not there are days I don't think about him, ok! I never pressure myself to get all the event bonus stories, or to always have a fic ready for him... in a world where im a worrywart about anything and everything, he's my safe place? my chill place? And if I begin to think about the gigantic mass of things surrounding him that are exactly aligning with what I love, with what comforts me, with what traits im looking for in a person, i'm going to get dizzy. So let's end this here with me saying, ily so much Napoleon 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 im such a nunuche sometimes but im your nunuche ‼️‼️

Interview with Jack and Liv
Jack Champion x black! fem oc
(warning: attempt of humour and fluff)
Tumblr media
In which these two idiots can't even answer one question seriously in an interview.
"Ready Champion?"
"Whenever you are Thompson,"
"Right, let's get started,"
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
"Mind control would easily be my first choice," I immediately answered.
" You answered that a little too quickly, Liv, pretty scary if you ask me,"
"Lemme guess, your choice would be the ability to fly?"
A long pause.
"No it wouldn't," he glared at me, obviously mad that I'd figured it out immediately.
"Don't even try lying Jack, it's old and borderline basic, just like you,"
"Okay first of all rude, second of all, I wouldn't choose that first I'd actually choose-
"Super strength?" I cocked an eyebrow at him in amusement.
Another long pause.
"Next question please,"
What were your first impressions of each other?
"I thought she was really intimidating to be honest," Jack admitted.
"You're joking," I laughed.
"No, I remember we were working on the movie and for the first two weeks, you were really serious, like I never saw you smiling,"
"I was in the middle of preparing for my exams back home!"
"I didn't know it at the time! I genuinely believed you didn't like me at all,"
"Looks like I'm not the only over thinker here," i grinned.
"Leave me alone,"
"Well at first I thought that J was really arrogant, loud, boisterous, immature and annoying,"
Pause.
"But?"
"There isn't a but, that's it. My feelings have not changed in any way whatsoever,"
"Oh fuck off,"
What's Olivia's best quality and feature?
"Well along with being crazy smart, Liv's hands down the most hilarious person I've ever met, I'm never not laughing when she's around, as for her best feature, she has really nice eyes,"
"That's a bit of a basic one," I complained.
"But it's true, you have really nice eyes, they're super dark and mysterious with an alluring aura radiating off of them,"
"Did you read that in a book and decided to finally use it in an interview to sound smart?"
"Ding ding ding, you caught me," he put his hands up in defeat before giving me a cheeky smile, I meant what I said though,"
"Of course you did Champion," I deadpanned with an eye roll.
What's Jack's best quality and feature?
"He can be quite thoughtful, a year ago, we were drinking a salted caramel iced coffee which I mentioned ONCE that I loved and for my birthday two months ago, he got me five boxes full of the syrup they used,"
"Oh that was fun,"
"In regards to best features, I'd say your lips, they're quite nice,"
He smirked smugly and tilted his head to the side before responding.
"You know, they're not just aethestically pleasing, there's a lot of girls who rave about how good of a kisser I am,"
"If you carry on talking, I will kick you in the balls so hard you'll want to die,"
What's your favourite thing to do together?
Me and Jack looked at each other trying to think of an answer.
"We haven't really got a specific activity that we do consistently together, do we?" he asked.
"No, we don't, but my favourite thing to do with you is listen in on your French work when getting ready for an exam or something, your pronunciation is atrocious, Jack"
"It's not that bad! I'm an A plus student!" He replied indignantly.
"That's because to pass languages all you have to do is not be complete dog shit and just wing an answer, I can guarantee if you came over to the UK and took A Level French, you’d despise it,"
"My favourite thing to watch you do is study for a theory test for your licence, you suck at it and you suck at driving too,"
"How would you know?"
"I've seen the look on your instructor's face after a lesson, Olivia, I hope you pay for his therapy afterwards,"
"Oh suck it sideways,"
What is the most annoying thing about Olivia?
"Ooo this'll be a fun one," Jack rubbed his hands together in anticipation before letting out an almighty yell when I thumped him in the arm. "I haven't even said anything yet!"
"The look on your face said it all,"
"Apart from her tendency to go straight to violence, her ability to speak five different languages is excruciatingly annoying, I can't do my French work around her at all,"
"There's no switching to German, Mandarin, Spanish or Japanese either," I winked at the camera.
What's the most annoying thing about Jack?
"Where do I even start?"
"Hey! Keep it short and mean," he crossed his arms at me in annoyance.
"It's always girls following him everywhere we go, I dragged him to go shopping with me just last week so he could carry my bags and as soon as we arrived, a group of girls just materialised out of nowhere???"
"What can I say? I have a very magnetic aura that people tend to gravitate to,"
"You are a literal joke,"
What's Jack's type?
"Me," I mouthed to the camera earning a very dirty look from Jack. "What? Fucking hell tough crowd,"
"You're a nightmare, Thompson, answer the question properly,"
"Jack likes girls that are funny, intelligent, match his sarcasm, loyal and sweet,"
"You didn't quite make that cut at that last part did you, Liv?"
"Ah so you admit that I'm funny, intelligent and loyal," I grinned at him devilishly
"Next question please!"
What's Olivia's type?"
"Oh gosh," I covered my face in embarrassment.
"Intelligent, Liv loves smart guys,"
"Who doesn't love a good nerd?"
"Funny, matches her energy, loyal, charming, sharp, good hair, a good listener, and kind,"
"Very specific, Jackson,"
Well all I had to do was describe mysel- WAIT LIV, COME BACK,"
Olivia's celebrity crush?
"Do you want just one, or do you want me to list the 50 she comes up with every day?"
"You're such a bum,"
"Well apart from me, Pedro Pascal, President Fitzgerald Grant the third, Megan Thee Stalliom, Kehlani, Daniel Kaluuya-
"Okay Jack-
"Ooooo Letitia Wright-
"THAT'S ENOUGH JACK, FUCKING HELL,"
Jack’s celebrity crush?
"Me, I'm his celebrity crush,"
"Yes Olivia, I'm hopelessly in love with you,"
"There's also SZA, Angela Basset, Margot Robbie, Bella Hadid, Serena Williams, Lizzo, Naomi Campbell- she was his first one, Beyoncé-
"Okay I think that's enough," Jack scratched the back of his neck bashfully.
"Ooo Coco Jones, also Megan Thee Stallion, Duckie Thot, Marsai Martin, Anok Yai, Ice Spice, Madelyn Cline-
"OLIVIA!"
"What? TRUST I was gonna get my lick back,"
What’s your party trick?
“Well apart from showing off my gorgeous muscles, I’m a pretty good dancer,” Jack smirked.
“Show them your moves mama,” I mirrored his smile knowing exactly what was coming.
The entire studio watched in amusement as Jack got up from his chair and started to do the dougie. Was it predictable? Maybe. Was he fucking that shit up? Oh absolutely.
“Ouuuuu go on, don’t hurt em now white boy,”
“Liv also taught me how to throw it around in a circle but we’ll save that for next time,” the brunette panted while getting back into his chair.
“You know you not that bitch or nothing but you still ate that lil one thing,” I quoted with a grin.
“I know that’s right!”
“Y’all will never guess who taught him that,”
“This gal!” Jack pointed at me enthusiastically.
“You’re so corny,” I laughed adoringly at him.
Olivia what’s your party trick?
“Knowing every Megan thee Stallion song bar for bar, word for word, the woman does no wrong in my eyes,”
“Can confirm, we put it to the test while filming, it’s very impressive,” Jack nodded.
“I can also take my box braids down REALLY quickly when I’m focused,”
“The problem is she struggles to focus when undoing her hair, so I help her take it out,”
“You like taking it out and detangling it though,” I pointed out.
“Very true, I think it’s incredibly therapeutic,”
If you could switch lives with anyone for a day, who would it be?
"Hmmm, that's a tough one," I said, tapping my chin. "I think I'd switch lives with Jeff Bezos and donate a bunch of his money to charity,"
"Wow, you're such a saint," Jack said sarcastically. "I think I'd switch lives with Elon Musk and take his Tesla for a joyride,"
"You do realize that's technically stealing, right?"
"Yours is technically embezzlement," he shrugged.
I shook my head. “That’s not fair, I’m giving it to people who need it more!”
“Tell that to the judge, Thompson,”
You're impossible,"
"That's why you love me," he replied with a smirk.
I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help the small smile that tugged at the corner of my lips. Despite his borderline obnoxious personality, I couldn't deny that Jack was one of my closest friends and I enjoyed his company more often than not.
“Is there one last thing you guys would like to say before we cut?”
“Olivia Tinashe Thompson is the best person I’ve ever met and worked with, I really hit the jackpot when this one decided to become my friend and I honestly hope this isn’t our last time working together, even if I can be a pain,”
I was taken aback by his earnest confession and glanced at him to find out he was already staring at me with what one could only call adoration and love.
“You really have a way with words don’t you?” I smiled softly.
“What can I say? You bring it out in me,”
Finally the interview was over and we said our goodbyes to the crew and staff before making our way out to exit the building.
“When we get home, could you help me take these braids out? I have a hair appointment tomorrow,” I smiled sweetly at him as he held the door open for me.
“I’ll do you one better and wash you hair for you when we’re done,”
“Are you just saying that to get in the shower with me?” I narrowed my eyes at him suspiciously.
“My girlfriend knows me so well,” Jack grinned at me before wrapping his arm around my waist as we left the building. I couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected friendship (and poorly kept secret of a relationship) that had blossomed between me and Jack. Maybe we were both idiots, but at least we were idiots together.
My first one shot, pls be nice y’all i promise i’ll get better lol.

Dune Messiah is the one i read as a teen. Must have been after seeing Dune84 or maybe those memories are blurring together because this time around the descriptions of the guild navigator in his tank don't match my memories.
This time, he's a little more abe sapien but in orange than the fleshy admiral akbar that's mostly head of my recollections.
Oddly enough, Momoa fits as Duncan Idaho - that was inspired casting! He has that chill self confidence bordering on cocky we've seen in other roles.
I don't see any of the current actors who've played him as Paul. I assumed he had pale tan olive skin like his dad or they'd have made a big deal of how pink and pale he was, how he'd get red and blistered in even a small walk in the sun, the way you smell slightly cooked. Yeah, we'd moved to southern climes and I wasn't adapting well.
I remembered the absolute slog through the first chapters then the loneliness and grieving of futures, trying to hold back the inevitable. must have been 15-16 because I thought I had MS but wasn't willing to say it out loud.
No idea what language I read it in, I do remember being annoyed at how pretentious the language was. A lot of talking to say nothing then these inspired little moments when he communicated crystal clear.
At first it made sense to communicate the tediousness of ruling, religious speak, business speak and whatnot then you get to a point where you realize the author's just going to be Like That. LMAO.
The price of getting a great story is sometimes having it delivered by the author's voice.
I actually was relieved that this one was more sympathetic to women (which says a lot about the sci-fi and fantasy I was stuck with) and the breeding programs were treated as something nasty.
I really enjoy having the confrontation between old memories and new reading especially as they're so different and changed this time.
As a counter example: LOTR hasn't changed much, it just gets more textured every time you revisit. The films didn't change the sense of it at all. It's not that I get a detailed image of faces and places, it's more a very vivid sense of emotions and characters. The way i don't see an apple when you say apple, i see the concept of an apple, many types and tastes and textures of apple. Gandalf is not Ian McKellen: he's a mess of actors, animation, wizard and mentor archetypes, like there's more Obi Wan in the original trilogy and snippets of Willem Defoe as Jesus (I haven't even seen the full movie) than Ian McKellen despite him doing a great job.
So having less of an attachment to Dune and only having seen 'the full picture' of the saga a couple of years ago means revisiting the one* read a long time ago is more of a collision of ideas.
*I actually don't know if I read any more at the time, I only know I read this one because it's bringing up familiar images.
Like a lot of you, I devoured books where ever whenever, whatever was available, lots of them half read because of skimming to get to the plot details, lots of meh, lots of blurring together of the same tropes.
I had a particular fondness of novellas and collections of short stories because once in a while there'd be one that really packed a punch or made you imagine something astonishing. The internet regularly coughs up some of those: as fiction, as essays or an interpretation of fiction or an event and that's as exciting as finding that one short story in a book of mostly blarg.

20 Questions for Writers
Tagged by @bywayofmemory
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 91. A couple of those are 3SF compilations.
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 115,642
3. What fandoms do you write for? Narnia, mostly. Used to write some Supernatural, Doctor Who but mostly in crossovers. Once we get into 3SF or "i've written this like once" - Star Wars (Mandalorian & Andor/Rogue One in particular), Battlestar Galactica, original stuff, Alex Rider, The Locked Tomb, Mass Effect, DC Comics, Middle Earth (movies, all books, Rings of Power), MCU - a lot. Twilight because of my "what if Renesmee was not... what Meyers wanted her to be" series.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Whose Other Side Is Salvation. Narnia/Doctor Who. Susan and the Doctor run.
we have to go on living. Young Justice. He can't hold it together forever. Robin, post-Failsafe.
to go nowhere with you. Torchwood/Narnia. "Minotaur," Edmund corrects automatically. Edmund/Ianto, time loops, minotaurs, coffee, and rift archaeology of sorts.
give me a world, you have taken the world i was. Hardy Boys. Joe wakes up alone in the dark. Things get worse from there, which sucks, because Frank is supposed to be home from college for Christmas break today.
Secrets Kept. Young Justice. Artemis knows Robin's secret. Spoilers through Young Justice 1x08.
5. Do you respond to comments? I... am nowhere as good as I would like to be at it.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? ... considering all the Narnia and specifically Susan Narnia stories I write that is a hard call. Probably we have come to our real work. AU. When Peter and Lucy hunt the White Stag, Susan and Edmund are in Archenland. Things go downhill from there. It's pretty early in my fic career so it could be a lot better in terms of quality but it is probably the saddest ending I've written. In terms of saddest story that I'm actually proud of? Probably we should take warning, we should forgive each other. Narnia, Prunaprismia, the bitterness of loss and pride and decisions it seems like are the only ones you can make even though they aren't.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Do I.... do I write happy endings.
I suppose my Renesmee series has a pretty happy ending! between one June and another September. Twilight, Renesmee/Leah. Renesmee Cullen comes full circle and falls in love. Does not make much sense without having read the previous works in the series though.
OH wait i gave edmund/bacchus (Narnia) a happy ending in one year since i've seen the mountains. I can write things that are happy!
8. Do you get hate on fics? I am extremely under the radar for almost everything honestly so no! And tbh I just don't have patience for that so would probably just delete and block if it was properly hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I've written some, though it's pretty mild!
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Look, what haven't I crossed over with Narnia. Merlin (BBC), Doctor Who / Torchwood, Mary Poppins, The Dark Is Rising, The Library Trilogy. I've done Leverage/Supernatural and I don't even know what I've done in various 3SF rounds. If we're counting my RP days I had some WILD character interactions while playing Padme Amidala in particular.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I doubt it? Never checked.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Once or twice! And podcasted once.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Several times! Only one is actively published and available as a fic though. Winds To Catch, Narnia/Mary Poppins, with @siterlas and animus in the city on A03. A Very Long Time Ago @bedlamsbard and I did like... an alarming amount of words on a BBC Merlin/Narnia crossover in commentfic. (Alarming for me who mostly writes like, maybe 1-2k a fic, not for Bed who's chapters number easily in the multiple thousands of words.) @siterlas and zempasuchil and I once wrote a bunch of AU BBC Merlin RPF commentfic where we wrote both the actors as if they were in a show about Marx and Engels instead and also parts of the fake show that they were in. Definitely various Supernatural and Narnia commentfic across the years. Probably more? Have also written friend fic for Las with Animus and Z. I also did a lot of RP stuff over the years! Which is cowriting though not in the sense we think of with fic.
Actually I really miss commentfic. It's so fun. I sometimes get to do it a little in 3SF but most people don't even know it's a thing you can do these days I think alas. Very informal collaboration is delightful!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Yeah I can't answer that. I'm very bad at picking favorites, ever. If we're talking ships I actually write, Susan/Edmund (Narnia), Bo-Katan/Din (Mandalorian) and Kara/Lee (BSG) are probably my top three? But I love... so many ships.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I started a follow up to my Hardy Boys story and I've noodled with it occasionally and don't think I'll ever properly finish it.
16. What are your writing strengths? I have been told I'm really good at ending lines! I like to think I'm good at just character study.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Plot. Who needs a plot. What is a plot.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I do not trust myself to get it right at all so I just don't overall.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Depends if we count doing RP in which case it's Lord of the Rings. If it's straight fic, Narnia.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? My favorites land in very different categories, so I think I will pick the first fic I wrote that I properly felt "wait, I think I can be good at this writing thing" and still gets received well. this temporary flesh and bone. Narnia. Susan/Edmund. Susan, Edmund, and the zombie apocalypse in England.
I shall tag. @svgurl410 @lyntergalactic @liminal-zone @callowyn @ravenlilyrose

My sudden urge to talk about 55 minutes light novel bcuz after finally getting the book and reading it makes me wanna eat a pillow and think again "wtf Asagari you brilliant bastard", like CAN WE GET A MOVIE OF IT???
(more rambling and spoilers vvv)
55 minutes is one of the longer light novels in the series, just a liiittle bit thicker than untold story which has a short story of a day before atsushi's entrance exam and the fukuzawa&ranpo backstory
for those who don't know what 55 minutes is about, in a nutshell; -ADA goes to an politically-neutral island to catch thieves -btw Akutagawa is there too -everything goes wrong -new characters introduced like Jules Verne and H.G.Wells and the title '55 minutes' comes from Wells' ability -atsushi trying: HIS BEST -also Dazai almost fcking dies but we love plot armor
anyway the reason i wanna scream about it now randomly is bcuz before reading the full story, i had totally different view of what the novel is about, THERES BARELY any translation online and i feel like bcuz of it a very few people actually had the opportunity to read it
'okay Mouse, so is it has any relevance to the main story-?' OHOHOH- it's more like ideas that we haven't seen in manga IN THEIR FULL POTENTIAL yet, but it was experimented on within the light novel, like FCKING TIME TRAVELING???? and you don't want me to talk about the science side of it (thank Wells for the 2-3 pages of science fun-facts dump)
speaking of things that the novel introduced to us are: -more lore of the war 13+ years ago -time traveling -a method to use Yosano's ability on Dazai: basically after heart stops, blood flow stops to brain and ability deactivates, so when restarting heart, there's a 0.5 second timeframe when Yosano can use her ability before brain registers wtf is going on -MORE ABILITIES AND THEIR FUNFACTS AWW YEAH I LOVE THOSE- im a sucker for abilities (not me having an BSD OC that can see abilities like they were ghosts hahah-)
this was actually the first time that the gang went outside Japan bcuz the island under Germany, France, and England 's governing territory(?), the the island itself is artificial that was made after the war
so wondering what the 'everything goes wrong' part is: it turns out, there's a BOMB on the island :) -the guy who hired ADA is killed, atsushi and akutagawa in running to get the bomb, but IT'S TOO LATE AND EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE WITHIN *checks book* 22 MILES RADIUS MELTS AWAY- -Wells appears (more like reveals herself....yeah Wells is a woman-) and yoinks Atsushi to an underground bunker but there's no time left and yeets back Atsushi's MEMORIES to 55 minutes before the disaster, btw she quickly explaines that the bomb that got activated is called 'Shell', an weapon created from Ability Singularity (basically mutation????), and her ability is time MANUPILATION, and also can send back people back in time but only once per person, and she can't use it on herself bcuz she already did it during the war, BUT bcuz the energy (insert a page long science explanation here) to send back a whole-ss person is too much, she can only send back memories back to past- -so atsushi goes back to time, but bcuz akutagawa was actually nearby when Wells' ability activated (she's using a camera, he literally fell onto them in the last second), he got his memories go back to time too -poor atsushi having internal breakdown wtf to do, but kunikida being an actual helping god and he, atsushi, and dazai think of a plan -turns out the bomb is protected underground and atsushi with the help of the thieves he befriended on the island, runs through the base -but everything goes wrong AGAIN bcuz akutagawa starts hunting atsushi after a misunderstanding, thinking that atsushi is the one who activated the bomb before.. :I damn bro -ATSUSHI IS SUFFERING SO MUCH????? HE GETS SHOT ON LUNG AND THROUGH OPEN MOUTH, AND GETTING HIS LEG STUCK (ALMOST SLICED OFF) ON CLOSED EMERGENY DOOR WITH EXPLICIT DESCRIPTION OF THE INJURY????? *sobbing* -somehow everything is solved with the power of dazai, and it seems ADA can go home BUT OH NOT SO FAST- so the culprit gets KILLED which meaaaans theres still a mastermind on the island -atsushi and dazai go invastigating and THIS IS WHEN DAZAI GETS STABBED :D ....BY JULES VERNE *flops to floor* -turns out the WHOLE ISLAND IS JULES' ABILITY: he has the ability to absorb the abilities of dead skill users within the island (so we got Shibusawa 2.0) Wells saves Atsushi and half-dead Dazai and uses her ability to slow down time so they bleed out slower atsushi and akutagawa go fight Verne, but they get overpowered and poor atsushi gets absorbed????????? kinda??? -AND WE GET JULES VERNE'S BACKSTORY :D he was a little child during war and joined an organization called Seven Traitors, and with the help of his ability 'the mysterious island', they kidnapped politicians to force them to peace treaty??? the island stayed and he spend the rest of his time on it in peace until Wells appeared on the island, killed her and stole her ability, and went back to time he did it so many times that the ability basically became a independent being?? and realized that he has to kill Wells every time before the 'future' happens or he disappears bcuz he doesn't exist in the future anymore the real Jules Verne is more like just an consciousness at this point -we get the big atsushi-akutagawa VS fake Jules fight, and atsushi wins oh wao -aaaaaaand now that Jules uhh doesn't exist anymore, the island is disappearing too :> -book ends with ADA back in Yokohama, Ranpo wanna go to beach but everyone is fcking tired of ocean, Dazai having Oda flashbacks, and atsushi meeting Wells once again before Wells mysteriously disappearing and atsushi questioning his sanity if she ever existed :) -oh right, Wells is the one who made the bomb during war time, knows how fcked up it is, and she's basically batman but government treats her as a terrorist bcuz why wouldn't be so sus when she's right there before at every natural disasters-
i actually didn't notice it until i went to wikia but apparently the dude who got killed before the jules verne reveal was a port mafia executive?????????? i might actually need to re-read the light novel bcuz i didn't notice mentioning it
little bit sad that many characters' uhh characterization is pretty ehh at some point, like akutagawa going full 'f-ck man-tiger' mode in the 98% of the story, rest of the ada except atsushi, dazai, and kunikida are just not... there, HOWEVER the side/novel characters are FCKING AMAZING, i want more Wells pls also Higuchi has like 3 short scenes and she slays them all, drinking down guards to get to security room, then being all cute and happy when akutagawa says 'good job' 🥺 akutagawa has moments when he's not 'f-ck man-tiger' mode when he yells 'higuchi where are you??' ,and tells a short poem as he evaporates into atoms
my brain is frying but i just felt like yelling into the void, thanks for my ted talk *drops mic*

I Had A Moment
Dear Future Husband,
I've had a lot I've wanted to post here over the last few months but it's been too much, really, and a lot of the things I've wanted to say would come out sounding completely insensitive and that just wouldn't be appropriate for what everyone has been struggling with. I'm also slow at processing things properly, which I think I've made kind of clear in this blog in the past.
Regardless, I'll reiterate: I'm often too pragmatic, honestly to a fault.
Everything about the way I think and feel (or don't feel) is a direct symptom of the way I was raised, regardless of how in denial my parents are of the way they raised us.
I've been sleeping worse than normal for the last three months (it's literally 10:20am right now as I'm starting to write this and I still haven't slept since yesterday and I only slept about 3-4 hours yesterday, so you can probably see where this is going....) and I'm too tired to really explain myself thoroughly here right now, but I thought I should share this.
Since the war started in October I haven't felt much about it.
This is the whole insensitive thing I was talking about....
I'm a half a world away dealing with so many other things and b"H all the people I know in Israel are as safe as they can be during this insanity, so it's hard to relate to anything that's going on over there.
I've also never been much of an emotional person, so I've seen a lot of the footage and pictures and haven't had much of a reaction. Which is ridiculous, I know, and maybe one day when I'm not falling on my face I'll take time to go more in depth on what I mean, but today is not that day.
Anywho, when I was in Seminary in Israel a whole 15+ years ago, I started reciting the entire sefer tehillem during the week of Chanukah.
That lasted maybe four or five years, but I'm so slow at reading Hebrew that I would always procrastinate the days perakim and end up off schedule and it was too much pressure on myself to do something that nobody told me I had to do. So at some point I just stopped doing it.
But another "tradition" I started at the same time was doing a content "diet" and cutting out all non-kosher movies, tv, music, and books (except for bathroom reading) for the entire week of Chanukah. That is something I still do pretty much every year.
So during the rest of the year I listen to the radio or my non-Jewish music with the blutooth in my car, but during Chanukah it's only Jewish music.
Last Thursday night, the 8th night of Chanukah, I was listening to music in my car on the way to the supermarket to buy some things for Shabbos and the song L'man Achai by The Chevra came on.
I listened to it once, not having heard it in a long time, and sang along with it. The next song came on, but my mind was still on L'man Achai, so I put it on again, harmonizing with it. And then it sunk in as an earworm and I played it again.
And I had a moment.
It was on this third play that I actually listened to the words of the song. It's from two separate perakim of tehillem.
Leman achai v're'ai adabra na shalom bach Leman bes Hashem Elokeinu avaksha tov lach Hashem oz l'amo yiten, Hashem yivarech as amo ba'shalom
The first part is from Perek 122:
Tumblr media
And the second is from Perek 29:
Tumblr media
My translation skills aren't that good (hence the screenshots), so I was sitting in my car trying to suss out what exactly I was saying in the first part, but when I got to the second, I got completely choked up. Words just wouldn't come out right and tears did spring to my eyes. Although the tears didn't spill over, the knot in my throat took a while to dissipate and I stopped singing along with the song. All I could think about was how many people in Israel are wishing for peace and strength, and how many have picked themselves up after such a tragedy and are moving forward, not letting this keep them down at all.
And I thought about every galus we've been in. Every massacre of Jews for thousands of years because of feuds that run so deep in our history that even when they've been resolved by the people who started them, their children still carry that hatred in their hearts because they've been taught it's important, even when it's not their fight.
And the sarcastic and angry part of me was saying "Hashem gives us strength? He blesses us with peace? WHAT peace? WHAT strength???"
But the rest of me just felt the brokenness of it all.
I ended up playing the song several more times in a row, getting my voice back enough to yell out the lyrics, hoping if I could say them loud enough they'd permeate my soul and maybe I would feel something more than just that momentary strangle. That maybe just putting the words out into the world would be enough.
So after three months of playing the part of "it's so terrible, it's so sad" but not really feeling those emotions, something in my brain finally clicked. And I had that moment.
It's been a week and I've had the song on repeat in my head since then. It doesn't have the same impact on me as it did last Thursday in the car, but I keep thinking about it.
It's like the earworm of the century has burrowed into my brain and no matter what I do to distract myself the tune is always on the periphery of my thoughts.
Not that this whole situation hasn't been far from my mind every day anyway.... but now I have a small and constant reminder that I can have human feelings on occasion. It just sometimes takes three months for that moment.

in lieu of a break
10pm, sept 25, 2022
the title is a lie, today and yesterday have both been breaks in their own ways! but the days do start coming and they really don't stop coming, do they. kay @girlfriendsofthegalaxy did a really nice couple of posts not long ago explaining the Theory of her tuesdayposts, to which i have only to add that-- i think for me these are turning into a steam valve, where i let out whatever is happening in my head that has built up over the past little while; they are analytical or creative endeavors in their own way, sometimes, but i mainly write them for myself and my own recall (so that i can go back and check out what i wrote about first watching the untamed, for example, please see iclb 2 or 3 from way back), and to keep track of my days. which is going to mean they aren't Reviews or really Criticism, though i may dabble in both, and any enjoyment or enlightenment anyone else gets out of reading these is incidental. for this one, it's a real head empty no thoughts list of titles, so hold on to your butts let's go.
reading the big mention here is that i just finished susanna clarke's piranesi, which i didn't know how to feel about until like 30% of the way in, and then began to enjoy quite a bit as the whole conceit became clearer, and then found...melancholy but beautiful by the end. honorable mentions over the past mumblemumble weeks to (checks storygraph): squire by tamora pierce (reread), ancillary justice by ann leckie (also a reread); the raven tower (not a reread, also by ann leckie--though i still haven't finished it); and the duchess romance which i did finish mostly out of morbid curiosity.
Tumblr media
watching strangely this will be the largest section for once! the escapism has been strong lately-- and there have been many excellent movie and tv show friendship opportunities. in reverse order, i have now seen two episodes of the new netflix bee and puppycat and find it delightful if inscrutable; i have now seen two episodes of the second season of fate: a winx saga also on netflix which i found less delightful, even more inscrutable (since i hadn't seen the first season or the previous show, lmao) but extremely funny to watch alongside more deeply invested jammies; i have now seen the first three episodes of andor and found diego luna as charming as ever; i have now seen the prestige (2006) and it did lodge in my brain in the way only very rare movies do; i have now seen the newest three (?) episodes of star trek: lower decks and did think the most recent one with the recruiting booth and the rutherford memories plotline to be incredible star trek and some of the best lower deck stuff yet; i did make my housemates watch a double-feature of the princess diaries (2001) and the princess diaries 2: royal engagement (2004), which were extremely fun and also wild opportunities for early- oughts media criticism and an in-depth examination of the portrayal of hereditary monarchy (and on the heels of qe 2's death, no less);
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i FINALLY took advantage of living where i do to get to a festival screening of a film during the actual festival and have now seen catherine called birdy (2022) on the big screen (it'll be out on prime soon) which i genuinely enjoyed as a huge fan of the book and despite my feelings abt lenaham herself-- bella ramsey was perfect, andrew scott and billie piper didn't disappoint, and i could go into excessive detail about what i liked and didn't like as a medievalist but the takeaway here was 'way better than i expected, yes even that part'; *breath* AND i have now seen true grit (2010) and had some more thoughts about tragedy/catharsis/the fragility of human life. i have, as they say, the range.
huh--that's an interesting commonality i hadn't considered before, the number of 14-year-old girl protagonists in this list-- can you even imagine maddie true grit, mia from the first diaries film, and catherine birdy in a room together.
listening checked out rina sawayama's new album hold the girl (2022) and will drop in the video for the title track here. as with her other stuff, i really like her voice, her timber/range/etc seems really rich and pleasing to me, and then there'll be just...something about a song's production or whatever that turns me off of it. in this particular song, the lyrics are what got me to listen, and then the melody and her delivery next-- but i continue to be irritated by whatever spice girls pop production beat-track kicks in at like 0:27ish. this is the part of me that prefers rock to hip hop i guess, like! just commit to a drumbeat and channel the power / grandiosity from everywhere else in the song into its rhythm! is this a genre thing? is this because she's aiming for 'dance' music? ugh.
youtube
playing mostly stardew, but not as much as over the summer, now that i'm back in term time. i think i have noticed a pattern, which is that i feel the same way about trying to complete a timed errand or request in stardew that i do about trying to finish a libby ebook on time; in both cases, the deadline helps me prioritize but doesn't help me plan ahead really, and the consistent feeling of struggle just to fall short (missed gus's omelette by one egg because i didn't THINK and of course had already given him 23 other eggs so those were all forfeit) at the last minute is. hm. disappointing. keeps me coming back to try again and see if i can get it the next time though, that it does.
making made some drop-biscuits yesterday which were rich and pretty good despite not having any attempt at layers; did some mending on wednesday during dnd which was mostly not successful but did keep my hands busy (and will be the groundwork for Actually patching those leggings when i can get the sewing machine); and have now helped my housemates do some seriously refreshing furniture-and-clutter rearranging. also i opened a word doc and now have a few dozen words of creative fiction? which i keep thinking about even as getting back into it seems more and more daunting? it turns out writing for no one but yourself can be fun, wacky and wild huh.
working on this week was a turning point, in that i found reason (and was given permission) to basically abandon the direction i'd been going in all summer, in favor of working on my second chapter and coming back to the other stuff when things are a little clearer. this feels like the right call, and i hope i don't waste the reset it offers me. it does mean that i am i think officially in violation of the pact i made with @witcheryen this summer, since the writing i'd pledged to do is now...going to happen in the spring maybe? please let me know when and if you'd like to exact the agreed-upon penalties, eek. headed to a conference in a little more than a week (!), just finished coming up with a vague direction and pitch for the talk i'm giving to my on-campus research community in exactly a month (!!), and won't see my supervisor in person again until june probably. this does all explain the manic tv / movie watching up above, doesn't it. apparently i need to work on having an 'all or nothing' approach to my days, thank you @ therapist dana.

Hi Lark! You seem really cool! I was wondering, what's your favorite Pride and Prejudice adaptation, if you have one? Have a nice day!
hello hello!! how's it going?
okay. okay. honestly THANK YOU for sending this to me. p&p is my FAVORITE NOVEL and i simply do not talk about it enough on here (or at all regarding my own personal thoughts). but i also hope u understand what u have unleashed within me. bc p&p is a topic that i will not shut up about once prompted. so without further ado:
The Complete Ranking of Every Pride and Prejudice Adaptation that I Have Seen Thus Far (*not including books/written work, bc i have read far too many of those)
Pride & Prejudice (2005 film)
this one is gonna be controversial, whichever one i pick as first. you know, it's got its merits and pitfalls in comparison with the 1995 miniseries, but this film is my comfort movie. it looks pretty, and it's got a pretty soundtrack, and keira knightley is pretty, and i think it adapts the story quite well for having to fit everything into two hours. each character is done well & it artfully represents the book. i just love this film okay!!
2. Pride and Prejudice (1995 miniseries)
okay i ranked this one #2 is everyone happy now!! but yeah. i mean. no one can outdo colin firth. that's a fact of life. this one adapts the books soso faithfully, it's so amazing to see. the whole tone is so well transferred onto the screen. collins is appropriately slimy, mrs. bennet is over the top, & COLIN FIRTH!!!!
3. The Lizzie Bennet Diaries (2012-2013 webseries)
i found this one only a couple of years ago, and i was so mad to be late to the party >:( i love every single part of this adaptation. all the tongue-in-cheek references are so great and i loved how they adapted the bennet sisters, as well as the whole situation to the modern day. just spectacular.
4. Death Comes to Pemberley (2013 miniseries)
okay i will be completely fair i haven't seen this one in a while, but i did just talk to my mother, who's seen it more recently than i, and she insisted that i place this one as far as up as i could. from what i remember it was a very good story, with good acting and an interesting take on all the characters and what they would be doing years after the end of the book. definitely recommend!
5. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001 film)
another one i haven't seen in ages, and also of which my mother was very passionate about the ranking. colin firth AGAIN!! and another fantastically funny modern au that presents a new angle on it. still middle of the pack, though, since i don't have much to say about it 😭
6. Pride and Prejudice (1940 film)
ok now we're getting into territory that is just. not worth your while lmao. like this one was interesting to watch as an old movie but i was overall not impressed. like maybe there's some film buff out there who can tell me something or other about how it pioneered some technique or something, but...
7. Pride and Prejudice (1980 miniseries)
i... could not get through much of this one at all. it just seemed off? in tone, in plot, in characterization... i don't actually know that i finished it! it definitely could not compare with any of the films or miniseries that are higher up on my list.
8. Pride and Prejudice: A New Musical (2020 musical)
just... augh. when i saw that this existed i was super excited! like a p&p musical??? that sounds so cool! but i found it just to be so tedious. the characters & acting were poor, i didn't enjoy any of the musical numbers, and they styled the actor playing mr. darcy to make him look akin to a corpse. not everyone can pull off the colin firth look and you shouldn't force it!! there's this one moment about half an hour in when darcy & wickham meet for the first time that CRACKS ME UP. legitimately hysterical. i didn't make it much further than that in watching it.
/end rant. that was longer than i thought it would be & probably longer than u were asking for 😆 but THANK YOU for giving me the opportunity to talk a bit ab p&p bc i do adore it dearly and would always love to scream about it!! 💕🫂 i'm sure i've seen more adaptations than on this list, but these were the first to come to mind, lol

Three ships:
Jon/Martin from The Magnus Archives: I don't know what to say about this one other than to point silently at the 196 fics I have currently posted to my Ao3 account starring this pair and give you the slightly unhinged grin of the truly obsessed.
Gracious/Donegan from Skulduggery Pleasant: My rarest of rarepairs - for the longest time there were only five fics total in the tag for these guys and I'd written four of them. But they're an evergreen ship for me, lighthearted and fun, and one that I'll keep going back to for a long time to come even though I stopped reading the books years ago.
Arthur/John from Malevolent: Even though I don't ship them romantically they deserve to be up here, because they give me the same happy brain-buzzies that romantic ships generally do. I've known them for far less time than any of the others ships here but they've already made a definite home for themselves inside my brain and I'm rotating them in my head quite often :)
First ship: Aziraphale/Crowley, aka Air Conditioning, aka the Ineffable Husbands, aka Consenting Bicycle Repair Men, from Good Omens (book). Look, it still weirds me out that these two are just common names on tumblr now, the fandom was so small when I first joined. Anyway I still very clearly remember the day, after first reading the book, where I was daydreaming about possible post-canon fates for the characters and my brain decided to present me with the image of Crowley pushing Aziraphale up against a bookshelf and kissing him. It caught me quite by surprise but introduced me to the wonderful world of fanfiction once I decided to look up whether anyone else had considered this interesting possibly, so I can't complain XD
Last song: Danse Caribe by Andrew Bird
Last movie: ..............Christmas Vacation. It's not a movie I chose, nor even one that I necessarily enjoy beyond the occasional slapstick laugh, but my parents put it on for Christmas day and I haven't seen any others since.
Currently reading: Technically Moby Dick via emails but I'm... significantly behind. More accurately Reaper Man via audiobook, which I am getting through at an alarmingly fast pace.
Currently watching: Been rewatching the early seasons of Community lately! Also the American version of the BBC show Ghosts.
Currently consuming: Nothing at the moment (I just brushed my teeth) but when I saw the notification that I'd been tagged I was eating a chocolate covered pretzel
Currently craving: Uhhhhhhh... nothing really.
Tagging: @albertinesimonet, @tired-beholding-bitch, @clever-raptor? Only if you want to!

[ It's amusing how emotionally charged/sensitive Suletta is, yet at the same time, there's certain parts of her emotions she doesn't fully comprehend or understand. A lot of what she's felt over the years always dealt with her natural reaction to be sad, blame herself, make excuses for others as to why they treat her the way they do, (make excuses for her own actions as long as the reasoning sounds 'good'), and quick to apologize.
Sometimes she can be blunt without realizing it due to her lack of social cues and interactions with people.
And even if she thinks she might have the concept of love due to her reading about it in books or seeing it in movies, experiencing it is a whole different ball game and it's kind of fun to delve into her emotional and mental ways of processing it and figuring out if what she feels is romantic or platonic.
What's also super interesting is her anger. Now, it's not seen much but that's the reason why I find it interesting. She has to have some deep within her, and I'm not even even trying to say this as a means of angst (I'm pretty sure I brought this up before though).
I wrote something with a friend on discord a few days ago where Suletta was experiencing a sudden spike in frustration/anger (due to circumstances in the RP) and another character asked "have you ever expressed your anger before" and it made Suletta think back to all the times that she could have gotten mad, but didn't. Instead, it was, once again, her relegating to her either apologizing or making up excuses.
Kind of thought she would do this with the reasons why people on Mercury didn't treat her kindly, and why her mother was gone a lot and missed like seven years worth of birthdays.
There are times Suletta stuck up for herself, but it wasn't truly anger, and it wasn't for herself either. She'll be quick to stand up for her friends despite how stressed she may be, but she doesn't do it as fast for herself, which is the key part of it all.
That's why even though she's a very kind person, and she won't hold grudges, I wanted her to be at least frustrated with how others have treated her and to let them know that she felt hurt by their actions instead of blowing it off as "ah they only did it that way because they didn't know any other way". I feel like you can think that way and still be frustrated, everything isn't "one way or another" only aha.
ANYWAY FFF this turned into something longer than I thought. Always thinking about her emotions and how she expresses them when she has to give much deeper thoughts (LIKE THE SCENE WHERE SHE TOLD MIORINE THAT SHE WOULD GIVE UP HER DREAM AND KILL IF HER MOTHER TOLD HER TOO, and then when Suletta thought about it later, she realized something was wrong with that answer, but that's a whole other thing I still haven't gotten into fff).

20 Questions? In This Economy?
Thank you so much for the tag, @sam-glade! Check out their post here!
Are you named after anyone?
Not as far as I know!
2. When was the last time you cried?
Two days ago, but that time, they were happy tears.
3. Do you have kids?
Nope!
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Yeah, a fair bit. But it depends on who I'm with.
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Hmmm. I'm especially drawn to voices, so I think that's the first thing I would remember about a person, especially if their voice was pleasant or unique in some way. If we're talking physical features, I would probably say hairstyle and eye color, though that doesn't always stick in my memory as long.
6. What’s your eye colour?
Blue.
7. Scary movie or happy endings?
Is it cheating to say both?? XD I love myself a good horror movie, but I'm also such a sucker for happy endings! If the two combine, I'm all about it, but if I absolutely had to pick one, I would probably have to go with happy endings.
8. Any special talents?
Uhhhm. My memory is frighteningly good when it comes to remembering the layout of buildings, even if I've only been there once. I can still remember the general blueprint of friends' houses that I haven't seen since in years. Some of the details are so specific that I feel like I can't really tell people without looking suspicious.
9. Where were you born?
United States.
10. What are your hobbies?
When I'm not writing, I can be found reading, playing video games, playing the flute, doing yoga or swimming.
11. Do you have any pets?
Yes!! Two beautiful doggos! 💕
12. What sports do you play/have you played?
I took horseback riding lessons for fun for several years, and still ride occasionally. I also ran cross country and track in junior high, and was a swimmer in high school and college.
13. How tall are you?
5'6.
14. Favourite subject in school?
English, followed closely by band and drama!
15. Dream job?
To write books for a living, but I would also love to pursue a career in voice acting.
I'm going to leave this as an open tag because I'm very behind on these and want to avoid spamming people with tags. XD
Blank questions below for convenient copy and pasting! :)
