if its not as ballad-ish as the “cover art”* suggests its most likely hip-hop or r&b based on the producer’s previous work. I would LOVE for it to be r&b (check out lucky daye’s f**kin sound and teyana taylor’s shoot it up both by the same prod) but its probably more likely to be hip-hop based on jimin’s taste and his work on face. i know this is a divisive statement in the pjm community lol but i really hope he’s not rapping in it 🥶
i just don’t think it favors him at all. with SMF, from a production standpoint its a masterpiece, but i never really got into the rap verses bc of both the lyrics and the vocal production. i get the use of the autotune both technically and narratively, but its just not a good fit for his voice imo.
*i say “cover art” bc smth about it is off, its not clapped in the typical hybe way lol as a graphic design enthusiast, it does look like someone put very different elements together in picsart in under 5 mins. still better than the average tacky hybe artwork though 🤷🏽♀️
Jimin’s very versatile in his music. Each song on face was a different genre and even with smf2 it wasn’t rigid hip hop. He still put his own flair on it and that’s what I like about his art. Your view on smf2 is fair I mean listening to it the first time the rap part with the auto tune portion did throw me off at first. I just wasn’t expecting it, but it doesn’t bother me. So i’m in the “fine with it” camp. It’s okay to not vibe with it, it’s okay to think it’s good. They’re all opinions. Only thing that annoys me are the people who do the most with pointing out how much they hate it cause it’s just not that deep.
Also I think jimin favors smf2 as a song and what it stands for, not so much that his taste lies with hip hop. Don’t think we should judge the next single or any other rap forward song he might do based on smf2 because that single nor the others will sound like that. They’ll all have their own style. But like you said, the producer’s repertoire is rnb and rap so chances are it could be that because you go to who specializes in something if you want something similar. He could also just be utilizing highlights of the producer’s production skills to lend it to a song that’s a hybrid like pop/rnb or ballad/rnb for example. Which leads me into the topic of jimin being great at melodic rapping. You see it scattered throughout bts’ discography and even that one part in face-off. I’d honestly be interested to see him tackle that more.
A direction I could see him possibly going in is dominic fike. The dance cover he did to his song “phone numbers.” And I think one of the producers he got pinged to work with worked on that and my favorite song of his “mona lisa.” too. Tbh we’ll never be able to pinpoint exactly what the songs jimin puts out will sound like cause he doesn’t have a fixed sound.
As for the cover art, haven’t seen it so I can’t form an opinion on it. It sounds like the cover for “come back home” from what you described though and that one was a choice that cost energy lol. But I mean as long as the song hits the cover art isn’t really a concern to me.

Galaxy: What fascinates you?
thats a really hard one. there's a lot of stuff that fascinates me. i think learning anything is fascinating. like the act of learning. one thing that comes to mind is like art and learning more about my craft. also my friends! im often fascinated by them and with them. they're all so smart and intelligent and driven and creative and like kind and it's just a wonder to watch them do their thing.
lots of small things are just easy to pull me in, again, with learning. i really like learning about almost anything i have even a slight interest in, part of it really being that it's just intriguing? idk.
1975: if you could time travel to any time period, what would it be and why?
part of me wants to like impulsively say THE VICTORIAN ERA but like i really wouldn't. like that's The Brand but it's been really glorified in my mins by period pieces like women still didnt have rights and gay ppl also didnt have rights nor were on the radar for rights like. maybe rhe make-believe victorian era in my mind but definitely not.... the real. victorian period.
SO INSTEAD IMMA SAY LIKE THE 80S TO LIKE THE EARLY 2000S???
largely bc like a sense of nostalgia? like, i feel like things were a little better back in the 2000s but like also i was like anywhere from a literal infant to age 10 so i wouldn't ACTUALLY know i was too busy being a fucking kid.
but the music was nice and the tv shows were nice. i love the old tech that was used. there's a sense of imperfection to it that just FEELS good. i like grain and i like crunchy sizzle that digital recordings don't have.
and i think one thing i REALLY REALLY fucking miss the most was the weather. like... i miss when it used to ACTUALLY SNOW where i live and i miss falls being crisp and wet and ALWAYS being crisp and wet, not like having a random OPE ITS 81 DEGREES OUT TODAY like WHAT!? IT'S FUCKING FALL.
plus, i feel like, there was a form of a stronger sense of community in the US before. like, i dunno i often feel disconnected from people and also just my local community and i feel like... to a certain degree the world may have been a little kinder. not like on the most revolutionary levels, and maybe this is a culmination of media ive watched, my own nostalgia, plus my parents' nostalgia for these times but it just sounds like people were more engaged?
and like maybe its bc im not in public school anymore, but block parties? like i've never been to a block party, but i remember hearing them across town and singing along to the music with my cousin. like, i remember that with a LOT of festivities and i just don't think my younger cousins now, who live in the same spot, can relate.
also i miss 90s/2000s RNB and hiphop! and the tv that was airing in the 90s n 2000s. like xfiles? banger. well at least the first 2 seasons i'm still watching (im on season 4, season 3 fucking sucked)
also fresh prince! i started rewatching it last night and like. i was 10 when i last watched fresh prince so a lot of shit went over my head that i didn't pick up on, but i'm 22 now and it's just been like ohhhhh.
but also idk it's nice and idk if i live under a rock or if i feel like a lot of shows i watch or see now don't have the same vibes, but idk i just like 90s shows like that.

old video games, casette tapes, mixed tapes, cute mcdonalds toys, the weird see through plastic for everything that was popular and made something in my neurotic little brain ignite like the 4th of july, the fashion and it being simultaneously tacky but also not, actually enjoying music played on the radio, THE PRICE OF LIVING!!!!!! AND BEING ABLE!!!!!!! TO AFFORD!!!!!! SMALL SHIT!!!!!! THAT WE CAN NO LONGER AFFORD AT ALL!!!!!!!!!, furbies and all perfectly fucked up things like furbies, practical effects in movies, jim henson, horror movies that i could actually enjoy and still enjoy.
ive lost my train of thought but like. man.
maybe its bc i was 10 like i said and life was already pretty easy being 10 and all but like idk i just rly enjoyed 90s and 2000s culture.

Feyre was coming back to her couch after having given out candies when she heard another knock on her door. Pausing the movie she’d been watching, she went to the front door again.
A group of girls were waiting for her outside, maybe twelve or thirteen years old, and all dressed in Ghostbusters outfits.
“Trick or treat!!” They all yelled in unison, and Feyre laughed before giving out candies to each of them, congratulating them on their costumes. She looked up from them, and her eyes fell on the man who was accompanying them.
“Rhysand?”
His name escaped her lips without her wanting to, but she was too surprised to care. Because there, behind the girls, was the guy who was always seating behind her in her introduction to modern art class. The absolutely gorgeous, amazingly funny, and impossibly obnoxious guy she’d been trying to avoid as much as possible since the beginning of terms. And here he was, wearing an equally tacky ghostbuster costume, trick or treating with a bunch of twelve years old girls.
“Hey Darling,” he greeted her with a wink, and the girls all giggled.
“Aren’t you a little old for this?”
He laughed and ruffled the hair of the girl in front of him. “I’m not trick or treating, I’m babysitting. This is my sister.”
The girl indeed looked like a smaller version of him, with the same dark hair and striking blue eyes. She smiled and went back to counting her candies. Feyre didn’t know what to say to him, she felt extremely awkward having opened the door in her lame pajama, expecting to be giving out candies and close it again, and now she was having a conversation with a guy she had been avoiding, in front of a very interested audience.
Rhys seemed to sense her unease, because he rubbed his free hand - the one that wasn’t holding a fake proton pack - against his neck and said: “girls, can you wait for me over there?”
They all grunted but went on their way a few feet away, waiting for him and laughing loudly. Feyre stayed silent, eager to close the door on him, and he didn’t seem to know what to say either, until -
“There’s a party tonight, at Tarquin’s place. I’m going after I’m dropping off the girls. Do you… Are you going?”
She was taken aback by his question, and quickly answered. “I wasn’t invited.”
“I’m inviting you know?” His answer sounded almost like a question. Was he asking her out? She didn’t want to dwell on the idea.
“I’m busy tonight, sorry. Maybe some other time.”
And she closed the door before he could say anything more.

It was almost one in the morning, and Feyre was still making her way through her usual movie marathon. She wasn’t really watching though, more focused on reliving her disastrous interaction with Rhys.
God, why was she like that? She’d had a crush on him for more than a year, since maybe the first month of uni, when they had spent an entire frat party debating about a tv show instead of getting drunk. But he was always flirting with everyone he came in contact with, so at the beginning of this term, she’d finally resigned herself to the fact that he wasn’t interested, and decided to move on. And now here he was, inviting her to go to a party with him? What did it mean?
Well, it didn’t matter now, she’d saif no.
A knock on her door made her jump in her couch.
Cautiously, she went to her door and half-opened it to look outside. She sighed and opened it more when she saw who it was.
“What are you doing here, Rhysand?”
He was indeed leaning against her door frame, still wearing his costume, and smiling at her.
“Trick or treat?” he asked in a pleading voice, and she couldn’t stop her laugh.
“Oh, so now you’re trick or treating?”
“Well, my previous attempt didn’t work so I’m trying again. This is your last chance before I move on to the tricks, Darling!”
He was so clearly very drunk, but he was smiling in that adorable way that always made her melt, so she let out a chuckle and grabbed a candy from behind her.
“Here, have a kitkat.”
He took it, but didn’t look away from her. Instead, he moved a little bit closer, and soon he was towering over her and said in a soft voice: “I was hoping for a different sort of treat, Darling. Maybe a kiss?”
She felt heat raise in her cheeks, and decided to change the subject. “Weren’t you supposed to be at a party?”
“I was, but it was too boring without you.”
She rolled her eyes, but opened the door a little more. “Come in, I don’t want to let my door open too long, the cold’ll get in.”
He entered without a word and she led him to the couch.
“You’re watching ‘Home Alone’?”
Oh no.
“It’s a classic,” she retorted in a defensive tone.
“It’s a Christmas classic! You do know it’s Halloween, right?”
Oh, that was bad. He was going to make fun of her.
“I can watch whatever I want.”
But he didn’t answer, instead he lifted the other boxes on her coffee table. “Those are all Christmas movies. Were you having yourself an early Christmas Marathon, Archeron?”
She blushed, but there was no way to deny it now.
“Not that it’s any of your business, but yes. I do it every year.”
“You don’t like Halloween?”
“I don’t like watching scary movies alone.”
His small, adorable smile turned almost feral when he looked at her. “Well, maybe you don’t have to watch it alone. What do you say?”
He was clearly drunk. That was the only plausible reason as to why he would show up at her house in the middle of the night and ask to watch scary movies with her instead of being at a party and most likely bring someone home with him.
He was drunk, and she’d promised herself that she would move on from him. But he was also very cute in his ghostbuster costume, looking at her with pleading eyes. So she sighed.
“Alright, you can stay and watch the movie. But we’re watching ‘Home Alone’.”
He sighed and threw his arms up, but a second later, his arm was looped around her shoulder and he was pressing play on her remote.
Startled, Feyre let herself relax against him, and said in a whisper:
“You must be really drunk to want to spend the evening with me, watching Christmas movies on Halloween.”
He looked at her at that, and she realized that their faces were much closer than she’d expected. “I don’t need to be drunk to want to spend time with you, Darling. I just need to be to have the courage to actually do it.”
And with that, he gently grabbed her chin and lowered his lips to hers.

1. I’m rating Nirvana at number one bc I suck shit, but I don’t know how I could put anybody else there bc it’s been three years since I started becoming interested in them and Kurt still makes me happy every day. Nirvana is completely a part of me and as much as I dislike being defined by anything, they’ve become the definitive band of my adolescence and Kurt’s philosophies have merged completely with my own. I literally have never felt so emotionally connected to anybody as I do to him or so understood, since we have the same personality type and a lot of the same mental health issues and difficulties regarding relationships and responsibilities. If I wanted to explain to someone both who I am and what’s going to happen to me I would just ask them to watch Heart Shaped Box. I listen to the MOH tapes when I need my friend, I have hoards Of pictures of him and Frances because it makes me feel so calm and content to see him happy. I owe so much to Kurt and I’m so grateful he was such a lovely person and not somebody I have to worry about being abusive or bigoted, not a day goes by when I don’t wish I could just sit with him for a while and rest.
2. Hole- Hole has been one of the biggest things to ever happen to me and I wouldn’t be alive without Live Through This, which basically nullifies all of my musical contributions to the world because like. I can’t sum it up better than them. Courtney’s personal aesthetic is so perfect and so relatable, her lyricism is top notch, the singing is fucking beautiful, and the Miss World video still makes me cry. They’re a better band than Nirvana but Kurt got to my heart a little deeper. So, bias
3. The original PJ Harvey trio- There’s not much to say abt these guys bc I think it’s pretty worthless to try and sum up why Dry and Rid of Me have been so massive for me musically and aesthetically. It literally breaks my heart that PJ broke this band up so quickly and then dropped both that tenacity and that sound even though I understand she was progressing artistically it just.....It literally doesn’t get better than Rid Of Me. That’s the perfect album.
4. The Stooges- The Stooges were so big for me just in terms of like, developing self esteem, and the fuck privileged artists mindset that I was taught by that music has become absolutely vital to me continuing to make art. I think Funhouse is one of the most beautiful albums ever released and is a major musical accomplishment, I have so much respect for David Alexander’s playing on that record bc it would be nothing without it. Literally it’s my dream to make a Funhouse/Ultraviolence monster child and then quit the business
5. The Beatles- This is so tacky I’m so sorry but I grew up with them and The Yellow Submarine was probably the only actual piece of Art I interacted with growing up and had a huge influence on me and is genuinely like, super artistically valid in terms of animation like. Anyways I know basically every Beatles song from ‘67-70 and the best summer of my life was spent listening to their early repitoire so like. Literally I grew up homeschooled and white in rural Virginia I was not going to listen to NIN

not to be a nerd but i accidentally just wrote a whole impromptu essay about editing ndjsdksksk im throwing it under a cut bc it's fucking inane and really long but honestly... i just want other people to become as passionate about editing as i am lmaooooo
i also recommend 2 books in the post so if anything at least check those out!
quality books about editing... *chef's kiss* a lot of the basic ones (including blog posts online n such) are geared towards beginners and end up repeating the same info/advice, much of it either oversimplified or misrepresented tbh. but i read one yesterday and i'm reading another one right now that really convey this passion for editing + consideration for it as its own sort of art and i just!!
it's such a weird thing to be passionate about lmao but i AM and i've spent a lot of time the past year or so consciously honing my craft (ik i mention this like 4 times a week i'm just really proud of how much i've learned and improved) and kind of like. solidifying my instincts into conscious choices i guess?
and these GOOD editing books have both a) taught me new information and/or presented familiar information through a new perspective that helped me understand something differently or in more depth, and b) validated or even just put into words certain preferences or techniques that i've developed on my own, that i don't normally see on those more basic lists i mentioned
btw the book i finished yesterday is self-editing for fiction writers: how to edit yourself into print by renni brown and dave king, and the one i'm reading currently is the artful edit: on the practice of editing yourself by susan bell.
the former was pretty sharp and straightforward. the authors demonstrated some of their points directly in the text, which was usually funny enough that i would show certain quotes to my sister without context
("Just think about how much power a single obscenity can have if it’s the only one in the whole fucking book." <- (it was)
"Frequent italics have come to signal weak writing. So you should never resort to them unless they are the only practical choice, as with the kind of self-conscious internal dialogue shown above or an occasional emphasis."
or, my favorite: "There are a few stylistic devices that are so “tacky” they should be used very sparingly, if at all. First on the list is emphasis quotes, as in the quotes around the word “tacky” in the preceding sentence. The only time you need to use them is to show you are referring to the word itself, as in the quotes around the word “tacky” in the preceding sentence. Read it again; it all makes sense.")
and like i said, i also learned some new ideas or techniques (or they articulated vague ideas i already had but struggled to put into practice), AND they mentioned some suggestions that ive literally never seen anyone else bring up (not to say no one has! just that ive never seen it, and ive seen a lot in terms of writing tips, advice, best practices, etc) that ive already sort of established in my own writing
for example they went into pretty fine detail about dialogue mechanics, more than i usually see, and in talking about the pacing and proportion of "beats" and dialogue in a given scene, they explicitly suggested that, if a character speaks more than a sentence or two and you plan on giving them some sort of dialogue tag or an action to perform as a beat, the tag or action should be placed at one of the earliest (if not the first) natural pauses in the dialogue, so as not to distance the character too far from the dialogue -- bc otherwise the reader ends up getting all of the dialogue information first, and then has to go back and retroactively insert the character, or what they're doing, or the way they look/sound while they're giving their little speech
and like this was something ive figured out on my own, mostly bc it jarred me out of something i was reading enough times (probably in fic tbh) that i started noticing it, and realized that it's something i do naturally, kind of to anchor the character to the dialogue mechanic to make sure it makes sense with the actual dialogue
so like. ok here's an example i just randomly pulled from the song of achilles (it was available on scribd so i just looked for a spot that worked to illustrate my point djsmsks)
the actual quote is written effectively, but here's a less effective version first:
“Perhaps I would, but I see no reason to kill him. He’s done nothing to me," Achilles answered coolly.
see and even with such a short snippet it's so much smoother and more vivid just by moving the dialogue tag, not adding or cutting a word:
“Perhaps I would, but I see no reason to kill him.” Achilles answered coolly. “He’s done nothing to me.”
the rhythm of it is better, and the beat that the dialogue tag creates functions as a natural dramatic pause before achilles delivers an incredibly poignant line, both within the immediate context of the scene and because we as the readers can recognize it as foreshadowing. plus, it flows smoothly because that beat was inserted where the dialogue already contained a natural pause, just bc that's how people speak. if you read both versions aloud, they both make sense, but the second version (the original used in the novel) accounts for the rhythm of dialogue, the way people tend to process information as they read, AND the greater context of the story, and as a result packs significantly more purpose, information, and effect into the same exact set of words
and THAT, folks, is the kind of editing minutia i can literally sit and hyperfocus on for hours without noticing. anyway it's a good book lmao
the one i'm reading now is a lot more about the cognitive process/es of editing, so there's less concrete and specific advice (so far, anyway) and more discussion about different mental approaches to editing, as well as tips and tools for making a firm distinction between your writer brain and your editor brain, which is something i struggle with
but there have been so many good quotes that ive highlighted! a lot of just like. reminders and things to think about, and also just lovely articulations of things id thought of or come to understand in much more vague ways.
scribd won't let me copy/paste this one bc it's a document copy and not an actual ebook, but this passage is talking about how the simple act of showing a piece of writing to someone else for the very first time can spark a sudden shift in perspective on the work, bc you'll (or at least i) frantically try to re-read it through their eyes and end up noticing a bunch of new errors -
or she talked about the perils of constant re-reading in the middle of writing a draft, which is something i struggle with a LOT, both bc i'm a perfectionist and bc i prefer editing to writing so i sit and edit when i'm procrastinating doing the actual hard work of writing lmao
it's just this side of fake deep tbh but i so rarely see editing discussed like this--as a mixture of art and science, a collaboration between instinct and technique, that really requires "both sides of the brain" to be done well.
and because of the way my own brain works, activities that require such a balanced concentration of creativity and logic really appeal to me. even though ive seen a lot of people (even professional writers) who frame it as the creative art of writing vs the logical discipline of editing. but i think that's such a misleading way of thinking about it, because writing and editing both require creativity and logic -- just different kinds! (not to mention that the line between writing and editing, while mostly clear, can get a little blurry from up close)
but like...all stories have an inner logic to them, even if the writer hasn't explicitly or consciously planned it, and even if the logic is faulty in places in the first couple of drafts. when you're sitting and daydreaming about your story, especially if you're trying to figure out how to bridge the gap between two points or scenes (or, how to write a sequence of events that presents as a logical, inevitable progression of cause and effect), the voice in your head that evaluates an idea and decides to 1) go with it, 2) scrap it, 3) tweak it until it works, or 4) hold onto it in case you want it later? that's your logic! if an idea feels wrong, or like it just doesn't work, it's probably because some part of you is detecting a conflict between some part of the idea and the overall logic of your story. every decision you make as you write is formed by and checked against your own experiential logic, and also by the internal logic of your story, which is far less developed (or at least, one would hope), and therefore more prone to the occasional laspe
but while ive seen a number of articles that discuss the logic of writing, i don't see people gushing as much about the art of editing and it's such a shame
the inner editor is so often characterized as the responsible parent to the writer's carefree child, or a relentless critic of the writer's unselfconscious, unpolished drivel
and it's like... maybe you just hate thinking critically about your work! maybe you view it that way because you're imposing external standards too fiercely onto your writing, and it's sucked the joy out of shaping and sculpting your words until they sing. maybe you prefer to conceive of your writing as divine communication, the process of which must remain unencumbered by lessons learned through experience or the vulnerability of self-reflection, until the buzzkill inner editor shows up with all those "rules" and "conventions" that only matter if you're trying to get published
and like obviously the market doesn't dictate which conventions are worth following, but the majority of widely-agreed-upon writing standards, especially those aimed at beginners, (and most especially those regarding style, as opposed to story structure) have to do with the effectiveness and efficiency of prose, and, in addition to often serving as a shorthand for distinguishing an amateur from a pro, overall help to increase poignancy and clarity, which is crucial no matter the genre or type of writing. and even if you personally believe otherwise, it's better to understand the conventions so you can break them with real purpose.
so editing shouldn't be about trying to shove your pristine artistic masterpiece into a conventional mold, it should be about using the creative instincts of your ear and your logic and experience-based understanding of writing as a craft to hone your words until you've told your story as effectively as possible

Anniversary with Joshua headcanons (Seventeen)
he’s so ready
he’s had a reminder set on his phone for literal m on ths okay he’s soooooo ready
once the day gets closer he gets a tad distant
staying out a bit late
and sometimes late at night you hear him whispering on the phone
if you confront him he just smiles and kisses you on the cheek and tells you not to worry about it
finally, it’s your anniversary
and you wake up to an empty bed
but then you smell breakfast coming from the kitchen
so you get up and run to the other room and you see joshua sitting at the table with pancakes piled high on your plate covered with all your favorite toppings
“you’re the sweetest! you seriously made all this yourself?”
he just shoots you that smile you love so much and does the lip zipping motion
“so you’re not talking?”
and his smile gets bigger and he nods
once you’re done with breakfast, he cleans the dishes and vaguely gestures for you to go upstairs
you assume he means get properly dressed so you put on something cute and hop back downstairs again
he can’t help but smile when he sees you he’s such a smiley guy its bc he loves you sooo much and then he leads you to the car, holding open the door and helping you in
the first place you go is a museum which sounds tacky but hear me out
as you’re walking along, you see pictures taped on the wall
of you
doing the randomest things, looking up at a sunset, washing the dishes
and finally you see an index card taped up
and it says “you’re my personal museum, every inch of you is art. and every time I look at you it gets harder and harder to look away”
you turn to him in shock and there’s that smile again, but now it’s slightly smug
after spending a few hours at the museum, you leave and he drives you to a small movie theater
at first you think it’s closed, but joshua opens the door and urges you inside and sits you down quickly
he disappears but then comes back with popcorn and a coke and the screen lights up
and your breath literally leaves your body because you’re both up on the screen
pictures from before you two even got together, when you were both just helplessly crushing on each other
pictures of you with the rest of seventeen, smiling
and finally, pictures of you and joshua, holding hands, kissing, anything that had been taken since your relationship started was on the screen
at the end, words pop up on the screen, stating “we’ve had our ups and downs, like every good movie does. and I can’t wait for my happy end with you”
god you can’t stop yourself from leaning in and kissing him, and as soon as you pull away, you’re being dragged out of your seat and back to the car
by this time, it’s getting a little dark out
you pull up to a little wooden building in the middle of nowhere
joshua helps you out of the car and covers your eyes
he leads you inside the building, careful not to let you trip
he sits you down in a chair and you feel his hands fall away
and oh my god its gorgeous
it’s an old music shop, the walls are lined with guitars and you see pianos and drums off to the side
fairy lights are hung up all over and there are candles lit that you know joshua picked cuz it’s your favorite scent
your favorite flowers hang from the insides of the guitars on the walls
and there he is
sitting on a stool in the middle of it all, guitar in his lap
and the first words you hear from him the whole day
are in a song he wrote about you
about how much he loves you, how crazy you make him, how you’re the oxygen in his lungs and the wings that keep him up
you’re crying by the end of it, obviously
he sets down his guitar and walks up to you, taking your face in his hands
“Y/N, I love you an indescribable amount”
“and I can’t imagine what my life would be like without you”
“you’re my whole world”
and just like that, you’re kissing him and everything around you is quiet and perfect and beautiful
you pull away after a bit, looking up at him
you realize that all those hours he spent on the phone were spent planning this for you

and he smiles and says “ask away”

and you both laugh and he thinks for a minute

love you goodbye actually reminds me of the 3 lyrics i really hate on harry's solo album, and melody wise it also makes me think of only angel which is a song that makes me want to barf, i can see the POV they were written from which are very 80ish aerosmith-ish in content and sound, but i hated Aerosmith and that type of rock they did then and i hate it even more now. these songs do highlight beautiful vocals, but yuck at those lyrics !

I can see that, because 1D have played with those ideas about clothes before. But I didn’t get any of that from the song (but the more I think about it the more I’ve developed into a story about a cool woman looking great and leaving a terrible man - so we all interpret songs our own way.
I love your ask - I think it’s really cool that you articulated that you felt that way. There’s so much woman-hating art out there, it’s really easy to get numb to it. CHS week 7: Comics and Visual Narrative
On CHS we discussed one of my favorite things! comics!
We discussed a lot of the introductory ideas of comics , something that caught my attention was right at the end when maggie mentioned Moto Hagio and other shoujo manga artist as comic artist that are truly advancing the medium in interesting ways.
This caught my interest because ive always thought this so i felt validated hahha
We live in a culture were things enjoyed by girls are seen as lesser,cheap or tacky, but shoujo manga have always bee at the forefront when it came to exploring more topics related to sex, gender and sexuality . Shoujo holds such a rich history and such a plethora of different stories that all qualifying as “lower stories’ is a huge disservice to the genre but the women who make these
I love shoujo bc of the ways in which it can portray enhanced emotions , not sticking to the “logic” we in our world have, and the authors are self aware of the silliness in this enhanced emotions, but like theater ,they hope their audience suspends their belief to enjoy these rich stories.
Moto hagio does this in spades, and her art greatly complements it
her art has such a delicate and entrancing quality, and constantly breaks from the rules to show these extreme emotions,
I really found interesting for the tendency for Japanese comics to have a more “film like” language, altho ppl would say it originates from tezuka, i would say its and eastern tendency as well.

Connor willumsen talks about this here, the idea of the western painter and the eastern painter. To put it simply, the western painter paints what he sees and the eastern painter paints what he feels, its really interesting. I recommend watching the video not only because of this but because connor willumsen is a genius comic artist.
I want to take some of these things in my own practice, I like media that dont care if its being self indulgent or silly but its with a heartfelt intent, i value honesty and genuineness over anything, it might sound like a dubious thing but, you just feel it when it is like that i suppose.

Meganee said that Laala dug the most tunnel, so her watch filled up to let her perform, which is fine and well but how the heck did Meganee know that. even assuming that every Meganee belongs to a Megahivemind sharing the same consciousness, the most the Prism Stone-side Meganee would have seen is them coming out of a manhole. how does she know. how does she know... .
a jewel came out of the watch!! only one description of the idol time watch toy so far has said it interacts with jewels so I’ve been wondering if that was a typo or something, but this gives me hope (if I’m going to buy jewels, I want a toy that can interact with them... and I’m still not a big fan of the mic/mic coords)

her signature is just floating behind her after cyalume change?? is that a kami idol thing or?? (Biscuit’s round biscuit signature is perfectly designed for that though... a true kami idol)
it’s nice that everyone knows Laala’s not lying about being a kami idol now, but in the end I would have preferred them resolving the ‘girls can’t possibly be idols’ thing in two episodes and having the ‘Laala can’t possibly be the kami idol Laala’ thing be the running gag for the whole season, if I had to pick.
