25, Ronon/Keller!
Spotify Song- Anything Like Me by Brad Paisley
--
Ronon was sitting in the cafeteria with his team when Jennifer approached them, a big grin on her face.
"Someone looks happy," John commented as Jennifer leaned down to kiss Ronon's cheek.
"You wanna tell them?" Jennifer asked, and Ronon's face lit up.
"Seriously? Are you sure? We don't have to yet if-"
"Tell us what?" Rodney asked.
"Tell them," Jennifer said softly, and Ronon jumped up.
"I'M GONNA BE A DAD!" Ronon shouted, grabbing Jennifer, and kissing her deeply in front of the entire mess hall, and suddenly the room erupted in cheers and applause.
"This is wonderful news, congratulations! How far along are you?" Teyla asked, beaming at them as everyone at the table shuffled around to give them both a hug.
"A little over two months, but we've only know for a few weeks. I was going to wait until at least three months before we told anyone, but he was just so excited and I couldn't ask him to keep it in anymore," Jennifer responded, staring lovingly at Ronon as she did. He beamed at her and kissed her again.
"That's really great guys, congrats. I'm happy for you both," John said. They all looked at Rodney, who seemed to be staring off into space. John nudged him, and Rodney startled.
"McKay? You good?" John asked, and Rodney smiled.
"I was just thinking about what a baby version of you two would look like. That's gonna be one damn cute kid, guys. Seriously, congratulations, both of you," Rodney said, in an uncharacteristically sweet way.
"Thanks, Rodney, that was really nice of you," Jennifer said, smiling at him.
"Yes, well, Jeannie made sure I knew how to respond correctly to a pregnancy announcement after her second one when I told her 'the second baby is usually harder'," Rodney responded, and everyone laughed.

Hi! Since youre into sga again how do you think mcshep would be in a h50 au or as steve and danny?
fjdkfd honestly, i think merging those two that way around (transplanting john and rodney into the h50 universe, rather than steve and danny into the sga one) would be a lot harder than it sounds. the h50 world is... fairly nondescript? its big draw as a show was undeniably the characters, so swapping those out changes a lot of the details that actually made the show what it is.
if we are going for it, however, i think the obvious choice would be to try a john-as-steve and rodney-as-danny approach, except john wouldn't be john if he were a highly decorated superseal with a spotless record and rodney wouldn't be rodney if he had a kid to care about and prove from the getgo that he's not as selfish as he appears, so... we could hide that, for a little? or, and bear with me here! we could do something a little unorthodox and make it rodney-as-steve and john-as-danny instead, which i think would overall be a MUCH better fit.
like, rodney is a brilliant scientist who returns to the island where he grew up after many years because his father was killed; john is an unwilling transplant cop from the mainland who followed his ex-wife (which he canonically has!) and their little daughter (which he doesn't, but if he DID, you can't tell me he wouldn't blow up his own life and move to a place he hates to try to stick close to her). i think that particularly for john this works a lot better: his captain and the other detectives don't think much of him (like colonel sumner), he hates hawaii and how sweaty and crowded by tourists every single bit of honolulu is (remember that he LIKED antarctica), and he lives in really awful one room apartments because the divorce, custody proceedings and move across the country ate up all of his savings, but he DOES still own a very expensive very pretty very fast car, because of course he does.
rodney is maybe a little more tricky, but i think we could make it work, especially if we draw a little vegas!rodney into it, perhaps. he's done well for himself, he has a bunch of awards and hops from place to place working on very secret projects (for the us military, potentially, if we want to keep that aspect), and then he hears his dad with whom he has a very complicated relationship is dead, so he returns to oahu where the governor personally greets him and is like, hey, you have a very unique skillset, want a job on my new special taskforce fighting major crime? and he goes nope, and then he runs into john in his father's garage, makes a call while john is pulling strange annoyed faces in the background, and suddenly they're putting together a team. rodney doesn't know chin from their football days, but from chin playing in the school band (which he did, iirc!); chin can still draw in kono, etc. obviously jeannie is mary, but i think jeannie could still bring the same chaos while nonetheless being married and having a kid (there HAS to be a scene in which she and john bond over Being Parents and she HAS to be surprised when she sees rodney be very gentle and sweet with john's kid), and i feel like it's important to note that catherine's role does NOT go to sam (because that would be weird and would only happen if rodney were the one writing this au), but to jennifer, who also gets a little of her vegas personality probably. especially the bit where in that episode she acts as an ME, because that would work very well for what is now essentially a cop au - she's the person that gets called in if they have a very weird body.
and yeah, uh. there's probably more "borrowing" of kamekona's helicopter in this version, because john can never resist. it's a little less clear who's actually leading this taskforce, because officially it's rodney but he definitely needs john to reign him in sometimes, which honestly, might just be another way this configuration fits the steve-and-danny dynamic well. i realize that i kept chin and kono and then replaced the other characters with faces from sga, so if we want to fill out the cast: i propose another swap from the first thing you'd think of if you had to put ronon and teyla into those two positions. teyla is chin, wise and ruthless and devastatingly beautiful, and ronon is kono, the looks-like-an-actual-model newbie who used to be a professional surfer and stuck with teyla when she was accused of corruption and all of her family (the athosians!) turned on her. (they still meet him on the beach as he punches a guy for stealing his wave, and john still has his mouth hanging open a little.) also! carson is max, of course. instead of dressing up as keanu reeves characters for halloween he dresses up as scottish folk heroes.

OC lore part 1 of 7 for @gear-redfield
Since I have a ton of ocs I’m gonna start off with the ones that are in different fandoms and then work my way through the fandoms I have multiple ocs for. I think I’m gonna do 5-6 HCs for them so it won’t be a mile long. The other ocs I’ll go into more details (maybe).
Riley Sanders (Metro Series)
Has three Watchers for pets, they’re her babies. But there was barely any room on the Aurora for them until they ended up getting the other rail carts. They tend to sleep anywhere they want, mostly in place where they stop people from moving around the train.
She’s not very talkative, likes to keep to herself for the most part. The people she talks with the most is Ulman, Artyom, Anna and Duke. That was until Katya and Nastya joined them.
Being able to breathe fresh air was kind of liberating for her. It made her happy that there were placing where you can live and breathe on the surface, not stuck in the dark, cold and damp metro.
Besides her and Ulman, Nastya was the first of the Aurora crew to hold their son.
Her brother wasn’t with her when that whole issue on the train occurred. He has no idea if she’s alive or not and she vice versa. She’s hoping she’ll be able to see him soon and have him meet his new nephew.
Amazing at stealth. Can sneak by a group or camp in a matter of minutes without killing anyone.
Kenadee “The Viper” Taylor (Ghost Recon)
She joined the US Army right out of high school with her high school sweetheart, Maverick. They married a year later and a year after that had their daughter Addison.
Joined Delta Force at the age of 24. That whole selection process was rigorous but very rewarding.
She has a very happy outlook on life, always bubbly. You wouldn’t think she’s apart of Delta. It throws people off every time.
Lost her husband in the field when their daughter was 5 years old. She retired after that and moved back to her hometown of San Diego where she could raise their daughter in a better environment.
Joined Nomad’s Ghosts five and a half years later. All thanks to Midas, who she met because their kids go to school together.
Carries around a knife coated in snakes venom, only uses it during interrogations.
Anja Kovic (Uncharted)
Was born to Borislav Kovic, a General Major in the Yugoslavia Ground Forces and Svetlana Kovic, a former nurse. Also the younger sister to Vladimir.
She grew up in a highly abusive household under her fathers rule. He had that mindset of the men work and the woman stay home, then add on the strictness of being in a military family.
Wanted to be a nurse growing up but those dreams got shot down when her father married her off to the war lord Zoran Lazarevic at the age of 18.
Marriage to Zoran was horrific, she was just happy he spent more time in the field than with her. His death did not sadden her whatsoever.
Lost her mother to suspicious circumstances when she was twelve. Leaving her and her older brother at the will of their father.
After Zoran’s death she was finally free. She left for Serbia in search of finding her brother and during that time gave birth to her and unfortunately Zoran’s son, naming him Dragan. And yes, she did find her brother and became the nurse she always wanted to be.
Evelyn “Evie” Hazelton (The Order 1886)
Was born to Edith Hazelton and an unnamed father in London, England on October 1st, 1860. (Her mom was a prostitute)
She lived in a brothel up until her mom’s murder. She loved it, to be surrounded with so many women that helped her through her life, gave her advice and helped molded her into the woman she is today.
Sir Percival/Malory gave her a spot on the Order after her mom’s death and she became the protege of Sir Galahad/Grayson. There she learned how to fight and shoot a gun.
The first time she ever saw a werewolf she thought it was a big dog. It was late at night, she was young and couldn’t tell since it was in the far distance.
Has a scar going down her back from being scratched by a werewolf during a fight.
Very protective of the people she cares about. She was the only person who pleaded not guilty during Grayson’s trial because she knows him. She knew he wouldn’t have worked with the rebellion if it didn’t suit a good cause.
Lydia Wilson (Call of Cthulhu)
Her parents were apart of the cult that was trying to bring back Cthulhu. However, they left Darkwater when Lydia was five and moved to Boston.
No matter how much her parents tried to make her forget the past, she didn’t. She still has memories of the cult, what the uniforms looked like, the masks. It never left her.
Started hearing the voice of the Leviathan in her dreams once she hit her late 20′s. Eventually she caught wind of what he wanted and she set sail for Darkwater, a place she hasn’t been since she was five.
Her father ran a tailoring shop and she helped a lot through her childhood.
When she spaces out she has a resting bitch face. It makes her loo unapproachable according to her mother.
The first time she saw the Shambler she though she was hallucinating. That wasn’t the case and she never wants to deal with it again.
Lily (MCU)
Born on the planet Prometheus. A planet cover in lush green grass and waterfalls.
Ever since she was a child she had this fight in her. She use to find a decent sized stick and pretend to fight a tree.
Was married to Thanos for over 20 years. The only good that came out of it were her kids.
Joined the Avengers after Thanos’ death. It was nice to be around people and strike up conversations. She just loved learning about Earth and she would talk about her home world.
She was the first owner of the scepter until it was given to Loki. That made her angry, she really loved that scepter.
The first person she befriended was Carol Danvers because her youngest daughter, Lotus really liked her.
Ashlynn Davenport (Tomb Raider)
Was born into Trinity. Her father was a sergeant in the Trinity army and her mom was a nurse.
She liked her life for the most part, loved her parents and friends, but the more she found out about Trinity and all the harm they do she wanted out. Unfortunately they didn’t happen when she was being married off to the Trinity field commander, Konstantin.
Being married to Konstantin meant moving around a lot, never really staying in one place for too long. Once the mission was done then they moved on. She didn’t mind it, not at first. She liked traveling around and seeing the world, but the stuff Trinity did put a bad taste in her mouth.
Ash can be quite manipulative when she wants to be. It was something she learned from her dad growing up.
She helped Lara take down Trinity from the inside when they were looking for the divine source. No one figured it out, all of thinking it was Lara.
Ashlynn actually loved Konstantin, she just thought his mind was corrupted by his sister and was trying to make him see what was right. So when he died she was pretty pissed and was going to say her true feeling to Ana. Unfortunately the Trinity sniper got to Ana first. Leaving her with a bunch of anger inside her.
Sawyer Monrow (TLOU)
She was 12 at the time of when the cordycepts outbreak began. Her life was pretty great as well and then over night everything changed.
Her family ended up at the Hartford QZ, where her and her younger brother went through military training (just like in Boston) to teach them how to kill infected and other humans if necessary.
Met Joel and Ellie in Pittsburgh. She was with Henry and Sam at the time and after their deaths she stayed with them and made the trek to Jackson.
She can be very standoff-ish at first glance. It’s how she acts in this apocalyptic world, more so to protect herself and because she doesn’t trust people.
Started a relationship with Joel a year and a half later. He was the first person she really let in and was happy for the few years they were together. She even considers Ellie like a little sister.
She lost her family when the Hartford QZ fell. She tried to save her brothers, but couldn’t. That still haunts her to this day.
Phaedra Alexeyev (Werewolf The Apocalypse)
She’s very good at backstabbing and manipulating people. All thanks to her former caern. A part of her hates it, but the other knows how in handy it can be.
She was born at the Shadow Lords Thunderstrike Sept, Ural Mountains, Russia. Close to the city of Chelyabinsk.
Phaedra and Cahal became a surrogate family after they both had to kill a family member.
Always the first ready to jump into the action. When there’s a fight she’s on the front lines, she’s not going to miss out. And she just likes to fight in general.
She born under a full moon making her have the Ahroun Auspices. The Full Moon makes the Ahroun the living weapon of Gaia. They are the warrior among a race of warriors, the champion of a martial people. Ever ready to kill, and to die if need be.
Her name means Bright Defender.
Emma Ross (Stargate Atlantis)
Joined the Marines to help pay for her college tuition. She surprisingly enjoyed it and continued to serve as she got her degree in science.
Lived a very mundane life growing up. Had two wonderful parents, a good upbringing, nothing exciting really happened. Which might have been the reason she joined the military.
The hardest thing she has to do is lie to her friends and family when she was transferred over to the Atlantis expedition. Being so far away from them sucks, but with the Daedalus she has more of a chance to go visit them.
As much as she’s in danger, she’s never felt more alive than being on Sheppard’s team. All the action just makes her blood pump.
Ronon calls her ‘red’ due to her being a red head. She finds it kinda funny.
She’s very friends and loves to strike up conversations whenever she can. Getting to know more people on Atlantis made living there easier.

So, back in July, I got this fic idea, and inevitably, it fell off my radar and now I’m just owning that it’ll never happen, so I offer you all this unsatisfying list fic outline thing. (If anyone wants to run with it, please do!)
The fic was going to be titled Crisis Management and it would go something like this:
John Sheppard learned crisis management at an early age. His mother would go from days, weeks in bed to a sudden, manic spree of activity that John could only helplessly witness and try to mitigate whatever damage he foresaw. For a while, it was fun, like they time they drove clear across the state to pick lavender in the summer, or the time they stayed up too late watching movie after movie, or the time they baked more cookies than they knew what to do with (John stored them in the freezer and ate them for three months).
But then, one day, he came home from school to find his mother in the tub, the water red, the color of their neighbors roses.
After that, John moved in with his dad and his new family, where he felt like an extra, unnecessary appendage, and did what he could to stay under the radar. When he finally joined the Air Force, he felt like he could breathe again. The predictable structures, the clear expectations, the orders--it was all easy. He didn’t have to predict what crisis would be next; he didn’t have to guess other people’s needs. He just had to do his job and do it well, be a cog in the system. It saved his life, and it was the best thing to have ever happened to him.
Until Afghanistan and the black mark on his record. He started to unravel a little then, spiraling in a direction he didn’t think he could survive, so when they offered Antarctica, he took it. It was cold and lonely, but he couldn’t extinguish the hope that the structure that gave him life when he was younger could revive him again.
And then Atlantis happened, and he was thrown in an environment where he couldn’t shut of parts of himself--the part that needed to be needed, that rose to the occasion even when it took a toll, and the part that needed structure and purpose, that kept the chaos under control because there were other people fighting beside him. There was his team, and Elizabeth, and the entire expedition. There was McKay, who sometimes reminded him of the manic chaos his mother buzzed with. So, without consciously thinking about it, he started to apply all the crisis management skills he’d learned, terrified that McKay would slip into a darkness John couldn’t save him from.
He worked within the team, coordinating responsibilities with Ronon and Teyla, Zelenka and Elizabeth, dropping hints like, “McKay needs to shape up a bit,” to Ronon and “Kick him out of the lab, would you?” to Zelenka. With his mom, he’d learned that he alone couldn’t do it all, he couldn’t be with her all the time, and back then, he didn’t have enough people, but Atlantis had people, and he could influence. He could plant seeds and give directives and create the structures.
He tried not to panic, to never react with fear, control, or anger. So, the more McKay wound himself up, the more John slouched, relaxing his body and melting into whatever surface was nearest. He became the polar opposite and more often than not, it shook McKay out of his anxiety and panic and threw him into indignation and bewilderment. When McKay started focusing on John’s lackadaisical response to emergencies, he forgot his own fear and relaxed, and John smirked on, accomplished and giddy.
He did the uncomfortable and tried to be real about what was going on. He told McKay where he could shove his death wish when he tried to save Jeannie by sacrificing himself, and any time when McKay was braver than he should’ve been. All the times that John was scared shitless because Mckay was being brave.
McKay’s tendency to avoid sleep terrified John more than most other things did. It was the most consistent thing about McKay, constantly sleep deprived and over-caffeinated. So, John cut off his caffeine (surreptitiously, because he also didn’t have a death wish) and pushed herbal remedies through Teyla, and found the suite with the jet tub that McKay instantly lay claim to and John smirked with the pleasure of a goal accomplished. He scoured the Atlantis black market for the richest foods, another easy trick for inducing sleep, and fed McKay. And John plied on the workouts to top it all off, and forced McKay into a semi-regular sleep schedule.
And then John tried to recreate the softer things that he loved about his mother, her appreciation for downtime, relaxing in nature, enjoying music. John flew his team out to the mainland once a month, so they could laze around on the beach, and sit by the fire. The fresh air revived them all, and McKay seemed more relaxed afterward. Like, he could stop fluttering like an angry hummingbird for just a little while.
Then there’s the day when McKay hands him a tablet without comment, his lips turned downward. John takes it, hesitantly, his eyebrows raising high as he skims the document. “What the fuck is this, McKay?” he asks angrily. “Too many things happen in Pegasus and there’s no one I trust more. Of course, you are likely to be killed before me since you go where things go boom, but maybe, if you aren’t a total idiot, you’ll be around to take care of things.” John stares, flabbergasted, looks down at the advanced directives and then back at McKay, feeling so utterly, stupidly seen, that he just kisses Rodney, melts into him.
After, Rodney tells John he needs to clarify some things, that he’s not suicidal, or bipolar, or whatever John has been trying to prevent--and yes, he’s paying attention because he’s not totally oblivious--and while he appreciates it, he doesn’t need John to keep watch all the time. He capable of taking care of John, too.
John just lies there, unable to meet Rodney’s eyes, his head on Rodney’s broad shoulder, and whispers, “Just don’t go anywhere.”
“I can do that,” McKay promises, tugging gently on John’s hair.
Yeah, okay, so maybe John was going a little overboard with the crisis management, but it led to here, to him feeling safe. And Rodney’s the first person to do that for him.

SGA Secret Santa - The Handler
An 4x15 "Outcast" AU in which Rodney went along to the wake and Dave - in true Big Brother fashion - sees through John like he's a wet piece of paper.
Written for xRinsexRepeatx in the Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2019 fic exchange.
The original request was for a McShep fic with maybe a little fluff or something kind of new in either a canon-compliant or canon-adjacent AU - so I racked my brain and remembered that I'd gone searching for an Outcast AU with Rodney a few months back and hadn't been able to find one. This is my attempt to fill that void with a little bit of McShep and a little bit of the Sheppard Brothers.
~.~.~
John walked up to the house with two men. Dave blinked when he caught sight of his little brother. His shoulders were low as he approached. Dave broke off from whichever incessant brown-noser he’d been half-listening to go meet his brother.
“John,” Dave held out his hand, “I wasn’t sure you were going to make it.” John shook his hand, a tight smile spreading over his face. “Good to see you.”
Dave looked to the left at the taller man beside John – dreadlocks, facial hair, he held himself like a military man but Dave doubted he served in the Air Force. The man to the right was worse - shorter, balding, he looked more like an accountant than a soldier.
“I contacted your unit commander at Peterson, but, uh,” Dave looked back to John now, “Those messages don’t always seem to reach you.”
John shuffled his feet, “Well…I came as soon as I heard.” Dave smiled tightly, nodded, looked at the tall man beside John. “This is Ronon, and Rodney,” John gestured out to each man respectively before his hands returned immediately to his pockets.
Dave’s lips quirked up – he shoved down a memory of John in his prep school uniform trying to blend in with the other freshman – and shook each man’s hand. He gave Ronon credit, the man kept a neutral expression through the awkward tension that was emanating from Dave and his brother. The same could not be said for Rodney, who had a perplexed expression on his face as he looked Dave up and down.
“You three,” Dave looked from each man to the next, “You all work in the Air Force? Together?” Rodney’s face scrunched up in disgust.
“What’s that suppo-“
“They're civilian contractors.” John cut Rodney off, mid-sputtering and scowl. Dave raised an eyebrow, looked at John, who avoided eye contact as he pursed his lips. Their rhetoric teacher would have been displeased.
“Right.” Dave sighed. “Anyway, John,” Dave forced eye contact with his brother, “I think we should probably talk.”
John nodded, looked at his feet. He dragged his eyes back up to Dave’s, “Yeah.” Behind him, Rodney was rolling his eyes.
“I’ll catch up with you later,” Dave turned away, bit his bottom lip as he forced himself not to tack on ‘alone.’ Whether the men were actually civilian contractors didn’t really matter to Dave, he didn’t know them, he didn’t trust them.
He could probably say the same for John actually, with how long it had been since the two had spoken face to face, but… Dave looked over his shoulder to see his little brother talking to the animated Rodney.
“And you say my ability to communicate with my sister is stunted?” Rodney’s voice carried on the wind and Dave couldn’t help but grin as John’s face puckered up like a peach.
Little brothers don’t really change all that much and Dave could handle John.
-.-.-
“That’s what he does, he handles things.” John shrugged, looking away from where he’d glanced towards his brother.
Rodney narrowed his eyes on John as Ronon asked another question, “How come you never mentioned him before?” Rodney’s eyes did not flutter, he merely….blinked. Rapidly.
John had only mentioned Dave Sheppard once in their whole time knowing one another – and even then it had been a guilt-trip meant to push Rodney into talking to his sister.
“Wait…” Rodney drew both Ronon and John’s eyes, “When was the last time you were home?” Rodney twisted his hand in the air, trying to indicate more than just this mansion and estate.
John shuffled his feet. Ronon’s lips pursed together to hide a smile.
“A few years…” Rodney raised an eyebrow. John continued, “Before I got stationed in Antarctica.”
Rodney chuckled derisively, “Of course, because you’re the biggest hypocrite on the planet.” John blushed as Rodney stuck his finger in his face, “Don’t think I won’t bring this up the next time you bug me about calling Jeannie.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it,” John held up his hands in surrender as Rodney stalked off in search of food.
Ronon leaned over, grinning, “So…you told *him* you had a brother?” John groaned.
-.-.-
When Nancy walked up to John at his father’s wake she was unsurprised by his…fidgeting. He’d noticed her coming and twisted back around swiftly. As if she was going to fall for that.
The last time they’d seen each other was when he’d been laid up in Germany after the helicopter crash – he’d been blitzed out of his mind on painkillers and sobbing about Dex and Mitch – so it wasn’t like she didn’t understand his reaction. She tried to smile, put him at ease.
“I didn’t expect to see you here.” John wasn’t just fidgeting, he was tense. His shoulders were locked and his hands kept clenching as they stood there. She shook her head and pulled him in for a one-sided hug. He somehow managed to tense even more.
John’s grin was tight as he introduced her to his friend Ronon, who hung back – both physically and conversationally. Nancy raised an eyebrow at that, but John was already rambling a bit, trying to ask her about her life. She only had to correct him the once, and she supposed remembering her husband’s name wasn’t top of John’s list of priorities.
“In his mind,” John actually smiled talking about his dad, a little sarcastic, but a smile. “Marrying you was probably the best thing I ever did.”
Nancy gave herself points for not laughing. This John – awkward, fidgety, unsure of himself – that was the John she’d married, but she’d seen him elsewhere. She’d seen him once with Dex even – John was never unsure of himself except around her. Around her, or his family. Anyone who got too close.
“Ronon!” Nancy’s eyes darted towards the man walking up to John’s friend. He was short, stocky, wide shoulders. And scowling. “You’ve eaten some of everything right? Does anything taste citrus-y to you?”
Ronon smirked, “All of them.” The man’s face scrunched up.
“Come on! The caterers thought I was making up my citrus allergy. Completely blew me off!” The man’s arms went up and wide as Ronon arched an eyebrow.
“Sounds like more food for me, McKay.” Ronon was outright grinning now. He took a bite of something on his plate, chewed slowly. McKay crossed his arms and stalked towards them.
Nancy watched John’s reaction – he looked between her and this man, McKay, and his shoulders somehow managed to tense even more. Even he wasn’t careful, he’d need a chiropractor to unlock his shoulders. Nancy’s lips quirked up.
“Okay, how do I get the snooty caterers to tell me which of the food is poisoned?!” McKay didn’t so much as glance in her direction as he spoke to John.
“Usually you ask them, Rodney,” John turned, facing Rodney fully. Even with the tension in his shoulders, Nancy caught the smile that flickered on John’s face as he spoke. “Nicely.”
Rodney huffed, “I was nice!” Ronon snorted behind him. Rodney shot him a withering look, “They laughed when I asked if anything had citrus in it! Laughed!”
John shook his head, a hand moved to his hair.
“Just drop John’s name,” Nancy cut in. Rodney’s head snapped to her and she felt his gaze whip over her as if noticing her for the first time. Analyzing. “They’ll take you more seriously now, especially if they’ve seen you come over here.”
“Who’re you?” Rodney’s head quirked to the side. His eyes stayed on her face. Nancy smiled at him as he looked at John. “Is she important?”
“She’s his ex-wife.” Ronon supplied. Nancy noted his smirk was back and when Rodney’s eyes narrowed on John she knew why.
“You have a wife?!”
“Had.” Nancy and John spoke at the same time. Rodney’s face puckered.
John cleared his throat, “Rodney, this is Nancy. Nancy, this is Rodney McKay.”
“Pleasure.” Nancy tried not to laugh at John forgetting her current last name as she offered a hand for Rodney to shake. He took it. She smiled at him. He frowned, deeply. Nancy looked to John then, “So, he’s…”
“Yup.” John was not looking at either of them now. He was rubbing the back of his head and looking longingly at the barn. He’d never been very good at the personal stuff.
Rodney glared at the sharpness of John’s voice, “Okay, I’m confused, what’re we talking about?”
“He doesn’t –“
“Nope.” John cut her off, still not looking at her. Rodney was looked at her though, eyebrows raised. She shrugged.
“I’ll leave you to it then,” Nancy shook her head, shared a smile with Ronon over Rodney’s shoulder. “It was good to see you, John. Even under the circumstances.”
Nancy heard Rodney ask John a very pointed question about ex-wives at funerals as she walked away. She glanced over her shoulder to watch him gesture wildly, all while John tried to hide a fond smile that had his hazel eyes shining gold.
Dex had been quite a handful too as she recalled.
-.-.-
“So…” Dave scratched the back of his head as he led John into their father’s office – his office. Dave shook his head, “I’m sorry about what I said yesterday.” John’s footsteps paused. Dave turned to face him, meeting his eyes, “I was angry, and hurt, and I said things I shouldn’t have.”
John shrugged, his eyes lowered to the floor, “You weren’t wrong. I haven’t- ...I was avoiding contact.” He looked back up at Dave. He didn’t say that he got all of Dave’s messages to Peterson, but he was biting his lip like he was trying to keep himself from admitting it.
“And dad could have sent you a message, same as I did, but he didn’t.”
John let out a breath, stopped biting his lip.
“So, which one is it – the muscle or the mouth?” Dave plopped into one of the high back chairs in front of the desk. John’s mouth fell open. “And don’t even try to deny it, Johnnie – I was the one who told you not to marry Nancy in the first place, remember?” John’s jaw snapped shut.
“Rodney.” John sunk into the chair beside him, shoulders hunched as his bottom lip puckered out in a pout. “Not that we’re actually… I mean, there’s rules against it, and I’m…”
“Horrible about emotional communication.”
John scowled, “Thanks, Davie.” Dave smiled, winked.
“You want a drink?” Dave pushed himself up and headed for the drink cart, “As I recall, these things are easier when neither of us is sober.” John’s lips quirked up.
“Just don’t try to give me relationship advice again.” John took the tumbler of scotch that Dave offered him. “Billie never spoke to me again, after the boom box incident.”
Dave shrugged, took a sip of his drink, “In my defense, I was drunk when I said that.”
“And I was drunk when I did it.” John chuckled, shook his head.
“Maybe try something less…spectacular,” Dave gestured with his glass as he sat back down, “I got the sense this Rodney fellow doesn’t like the spotlight half as much as he pretends to.”
John shrugged, “You were always good at reading people.” He scratched the back of his head, Dave watched him with narrow eyes. “What?” John looked up at him, eyes wide.
“You love him.” Dave watched with a mixture of amusement and sadness as his brother downed the last of his drink. “Pretty sure he feels the same way, given how he glared at Nancy through half the wake.” John groaned, head falling into his hand.
“It’s not like we’re not…together, we’re just not…” John was as red as their mother’s favorite wine as he looked desperately around the room. Whatever word he was looking for did not magically appear on any of the walls. “Together.”
Dave snorted, “Are you aware you’re over forty now?” John sunk back into his chair. “That’s a no.” Dave pushed out of his chair again. He grabbed the bottle of scotch and placed it on their father’s desk in front of them before sitting down, “Alright, start at the beginning, little brother.”
-.-.-
“Are you drunk?!” Rodney had his hands on his hips when John stumbled into the hotel room.
John smiled at him, eyes swimming as he glanced around the room. When he noticed that Ronon was gone he wrapped an arm around Rodney’s neck.
“If you kiss me while drunk, I will hit you.”
John’s bottom lip stuck out, “But Rodney~” John’s whine had Rodney rolling his eyes.
“Did you talk with your brother?” Rodney walked John over to the bed and then shoved him off onto the mattress. John plopped down with a huff. “Get everything all…” Rodney waved his hands around in a wide circle, “…figured out.”
“He told me I was being an idiot,” John’s head lulled to the side, a faint smiling pulling at his lips.
Rodney’s brows scrunched together, “That’s…good?” John chuckled, nodded. “Well, good then.” He muttered about how weird Americans were as he unlaced John’s shoes and pulled them off.
“I love you.” Rodney straightened, one of John’s shoes in his hand. He looked down at John’s goofy grin. John repeated it, enunciating each word, “I. Love. You.”
Rodney dropped the shoe, “Wh-why? What?” Rodney looked over the room, spinning as he were checking for cameras, “How?”
“Well, I mean, I think there’s some brain chemicals involved, and I’ve heard certain star signs are compatible and –”
“Don’t be stupid!” Rodney rolled his eyes and swatted John’s leg, “You know what I mean.”
John just grinned at him again, “That’s what my brother and I talked about.” He wiggled his way up the bed till he was sitting up against the headboard. “How I’m hopelessly in love with you and being an idiot for not telling you.”
“Oh.” Rodney blushed. He started fiddling with the hem of his shirt. He could feel John watching him, when he glanced back up he saw that John was still smiling at him even though he hadn’t said it back. Rodney’s brow scrunched up, “Don’t- don’t you want me to say it back?”
“When you feel like it,” John shrugged, he folded his arms behind his head. His eyes were still swimming and his smile was goofy and drunk. He was absolutely adorable, but Rodney would never admit that aloud. Even under threat of torture! (Actually torture, not guaranteed.)
Rodney shuffled is feet and puckered his lips again, “Tell me again when you’re sober.” He stomped off to the mini fridge and threw a water bottle at John’s head. “It doesn’t count if you’re drunk!”
“That’s what Dave said too,” John chuckled, catching the water bottle and then gulping it down quickly. Rodney rolled his eyes and started fiddling about looking for takeout menus. John watched him with the softest smile yet, heart lighter as he watched Rodney's blush creep up to his ears.

You know How Jason Momoa almost joined the MCU ?
With regards to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — or the MCU to its fans — certain performing artists have put such a stamp on their characters that it's turned out to be relatively difficult to isolate the two. Thinking back, Chris Hemsworth appears the main performing artist who could take a faithful character like Thor and influence him to appear to be human. In the interim, Chadwick Boseman's execution as Black Panther helped make a generally obscure superhuman into a commonly recognized name as well as a real Oscar contender. What's more, Robert Downey Jr's. go up against Tony Stark was the impetus that made the whole MCU conceivable in any case.
So it's intriguing to understand that one single throwing decision not just would've majorly affected the Marvel Cinematic Universe, yet on the DC Extended Universe also. That is on the grounds that Jason Momoa — indeed, the person who's playing significant DC Comics character Aquaman — was about given a role as Drax the Destroyer in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy. Charlie Wen — previous head of visual improvement at Marvel Studios — sat for a selective meeting with Looper to examine the advancement of Drax's true to life structure, how Jason Momoa nearly joined the MCU… and how the character almost wound up resembling an exceptionally well known computer game character.
Cool cape, brother
While depicting the first 1973 comic book structure for Drax the Destroyer (on the left in the picture above), you may utilize terms like "basic," "particular," and "greatly conspicuous." You may likewise include the expressions "horrendously crazy" and "stupendously silly" to that rundown. The '70s were an alternate time, brimming with mold decisions guardians attempt to clarify away by saying things like, "look, my specialist believed that stuff was beneficial for me." Overall, Drax's outfit when he previously showed up in Iron Man is exceptional… and furthermore difficult to put on the wide screen without making the gathering of people barf into its popcorn.
You may be astounded to see a person calling himself "the destroyer" wearing a caped purple jumpsuit, yet it bodes well from a shading angle. The extraordinary Hulk, all things considered, wears purple jeans for a reason (other than concealing his hulked out privates): purple is a reciprocal shading for green. The star on Drax's chest and the skull on his belt, in the interim, say "vast demise merchant" much superior to anything the purple leotard ever could. Strikingly, not long after his comic book make a big appearance, Drax's plan developed to wind up much more strange, with the expansion of one more skull at his neck — to truly commute home that "destroyer" thing, most likely — and a busted cape. Normally, Wen and his group at Marvel Studios never got anyplace near these looks when they started adjusting Drax for the screen.
Bare, ruthless... siblings?
Prior to turning into the head of visual improvement at Marvel Studios, Charlie Wen likewise drove a group at Sony planning Kratos, the dangerous legend from the God of War computer game establishment, which initially appeared in March 2005 following a couple of long stretches of advancement. In the mean time, soon thereafter, Marvel Comics happened to discharge a Drax the Destroyer miniseries with a fresh out of the box new plan for the character. Gone were the ridiculous purple tights and skull extras. Rather, Drax dumped the shirt and got some ink.
While the structure was new to Drax, it unquestionably had in excess of a couple of likenesses with Wen's last Kratos plan — something he'd found when somebody sent the organization a Drax comic book.
"I recollect at Sony, we resembled, "Gracious man, what should we do about this?" Wen reviewed. "They can't make it look —  It looked so much like Kratos!"
So it came as an unexpected when, only a couple of years after the fact, Wen drove the plan division at Marvel Studios… and got himself up close and personal with the test of adjusting the inestimable legend who previously took after a character he'd planned previously. One idea went through Wen's head:
"How am I going to make this character not resemble the character I intended for God of War?"
Khal Draxo
As Wen drove his group through structures for Guardians of the Galaxy, the throwing chiefs chased for the correct performing artists. One up-and-comer named Jason Momoa — who'd discovered accomplishment with his depiction of Khal Drogo in HBO's Game of Thrones — turned into a leader to win the piece of Drax.
"Jason Momoa sent in this stunning screen test, and obviously he definitely realized how to do those battling positions," reviewed Wen. "He looked extremely persuading."
Wen made craftsmanship delineating the on-screen character in the job, highlighting the Momoa's face on a lean-looking Drax the Destroyer that is a gather venture up from the Kratos-looking funnies and a lot nearer to the last true to life structure.
As it turned out, be that as it may, while Momoa had the look and the moves to play Drax, he wasn't exactly appropriate for the part — at any rate not when contrasted and another on-screen character competing for the job, wrestler Dave Bautista.
"I think with Momoa in it, it felt like the Game of Thrones character that he played. He has an incredible face for it," noted Wen. "We did a few takes with Momoa as the character, as Drax, in any case I think Bautista truly played that job."
Will the genuine Drax please venture forward?
Momoa appeared to concur that his throwing wouldn't convey anything new to the screen. "I need my kids to see their dad upbeat. It isn't so much that it is anything but a decent job, it simply wasn't the correct thing," he said in a 2014 Zap2It interview (via IGN). "I was on Stargate: Atlantis for a long time playing a comparable character called Ronon, who was an outsider who didn't state much and snorted. I've been there and done that, regardless of whether individuals have seen it or not. You need to extend."
Obviously, nobody could know in 2014 that Momoa would proceed to feature his very own superhuman motion picture a couple of years after the fact with 2018's Aquaman, one of the tentpole movies of the DC Extended Universe — yet that is another story. Anyway, Momoa was out, Bautista was in, and both Wen and Marvel fans would concur that the correct man was thrown.
"Bautista brought this — an alternate side to it that no one was expecting," Wen said. "Somewhat entertaining, yet normally interesting. It resembled, 'Goodness, this is an entire character. He's conveying something to that character.'"
Wen included:
we structured it explicitly for him — even the manner in which his head is molded." The picture above — one of the primary bits of idea workmanship Kevin Feige disclosed to declare Guardians of the Galaxy — demonstrates the impact of Bautista on the character's plan.
The inked man
In the mean time, to additionally develop Drax's artistic look, Wen kept pushing the plan far from the perfect lines of the mid-2000s Drax — the one that looked so much like Kratos. Rather, he concentrated on making Drax's tattoos a vital piece of the adjusted character's inward life. Indeed, even the craftsmanship looking like Momoa was traveling toward this path, and Bautista's throwing kept the energy pushing ahead also.
"Every one of the tattoos that went on him is extremely recounting about his story," said Wen. "His life is essentially on his body."
It's anything but difficult to find in the picture over that additionally includes early forms of alternate Guardians that the tattoos are starting to highlight much more noticeably in Drax's plan — and his terrorizing factor.
"Everyone's anxious about him. He's someone that even individuals in jail fear," said Wen. "This is an intergalactic jail, where you have all these enormous characters that would, I don't have a clue, simply look extremely unnerving and massive. Be that as it may, Drax is someone that can stand his ground to any of them."
