Something that has been driving me insane about the credits are these sections with the fish so please bear with me whilst I do a mini deep dive (hehe) into fish discourse because YO, we need to talk about these fish!
Notice how at the beginning of the credits we actually have two white fish swimming along beside one another; one with bright turquoise eyes and the other with black.
A little while later the fish begin to circle each other and a droplet falls into the water between them. As the disturbance ripples out from the center, one of the fish dives deeper into the water and changes its colour to black; symbolizing Geto's change and descent into darkness
Then we have this heartbreakingly beautiful moment with Gojo and Geto:
I cannot stop thinking about how long Gojo watches the black fish for as it swims across the screen, whereas Geto's eyes are lowered the moment the white fish appears and he closes them as it swims past.
Gojo cannot bear to tear his eyes away, whilst Geto cannot bear to look
Throughout the credits, Gojo and Geto have been making their way towards each other through the pouring rain (or mostly sitting and waiting in Geto's case). At the end, they meet each other under a bridge and as they walk away together we see the fish a final time, swimming together again in a puddle formed by the heavy rain.
Geto walks on the left in the light, as the white fish swims close to his head, almost invisible in the brightness of the light. Whilst Gojo walks on the right in the shadow with the black fish swimming further away but still close by.
The fish speed after the two men before disappearing completely under the water just before the camera pans up and we watch as Gojo pulls Geto in for a hug as they walk away, before he's playfully shoved away by Geto.
There's a lot going on the credits (+ opening) that is absolutely killing me but man, these fish?! Breathtaking.

I have zero place commenting on today's episode (I've only seen the first 2 eps), but from what I'm seeing? Moonlight Chicken has ascended into the rarest category of BL content: showcasing nuanced, highly-complex, grown-ass-people-in-relationships issues.
no one goes into a relationship thinking it's going to end. with that heady cocktail of hormones coursing through your veins, you can't even fathom a world where you don't feel this way forever. you might even think, "when the initial high fades, I'll choose to love this person." and hopefully, you can.
but sometimes, you just can't. not because it wasn't real, or because they aren't wonderful, or because it isn't healthy. you could have the most loving, supportive relationship in the world- but things never stop changing. you will never stop changing.
the grief & guilt over outgrowing a relationship can be unspeakably devastating. it doesn't make you a horrendous human being. it doesn't make you a failure, even though it sure as hell might feel like it. it doesn't change the reality that it just doesn't fit anymore.
the hardest thing? knowing when to fold. in being able to discern between actual hope & desperately clinging to a dead or dying thing. to what isn't anymore & will likely never be again.
if we just gave ourselves a little more grace to be human, to not be infallible- we'd hurt others (& ourselves) so much less. we wouldn't overstay when we should've left, or try to twist & contort ourselves into something we aren't anymore.
endings will always hurt. how much they hurt- & who they hurt- is (at least partially) up to us.

Rewatching scenes on YouTube, I'm making observations about Bill at the piano. First, he's playing the song from memory -- he didn't reopen the sheet music after closing it on Frank. Second, he's not playing the exact same thing Frank did -- he's at a slower tempo, changing the arrangement to accommodate that, but also in a different key. He must have made those changes to the song himself, and done them often enough that he could remember it all. Or possibly he's just such a skilled pianist that he could improvise the correct chords underneath his voice. Either way, he's clearly a music lover. And the fact that Frank immediately figured him out and rifled through his music to find that exact song that he knew well enough to passionately play his own version from memory is just. *chef's kiss*

What gets me is that they cut out a lot from the pilot but kept in the fact that Carlos has a tendency to kiss the men Mary likes...
This obviously has nothing to do with anything that might happen in the future, especially between men in uniform.

I have a literal therapy appointment in an hour and a half, yet I'm sitting here scrolling through the bucktommy tag here and on AO3.
"I can't make it to my appointment, I have to read about two firefighters kissing in the middle of a hospital lobby. Yeah it's gonna be an all day thing. Sorry not sorry"

this might sound dumb, but listening to WizBru and in particular hearing Holden talk about the times he, as the children say, put his whole pussy into some pop culture phenomenon and had a great time with it, has kinda changed how I take on things like that and has increased my enjoyment 1000%.
like idk, it might particularly be bc he's a 40 year old dude who's embracing fun and often "girly" things instead of being derisive and superior, admittedly. bc there are a lot of those kinds of dudes in my day-to-day life and seeing a dude be not only Chill but Enthusiastic is a nice change. also might be because I come from tumblr where everyone's shitting on anything popular and a little silly the instant it comes into existence.
but listening to him talk about how he wholeheartedly loves Blackpink and thinks they're super cool, or how he started a singalong at the tswift concert movie, or wearing pink and going to Barbie, or just...anything. is like. oh right sometimes pop culture is just for fun and you can just have fun and be in the Fun Space for a while and you can still critically examine it but also just. have fun. and let having a good time be a profound experience for you.
