Okokok so I'm not very big in the batman x superman scene but once I had a dream where I was walking through a DC museum and one exhibit was about queer subtext in the comics vs. being cut out of the film and show adaptations. One specific example they looked at was a scene for a Valentine's comic, written about all sorts of platonic love in the Justice League.

So in the comic, Bruce Wayne shows *platonic affection for Clark by working with botanists and doing research into Kryptonian plant species. He breeds a flower (that looks like a dark red rose) from Kryptonian soil and preserved seeds to give to Clark and offers him to help with research because Bruce believes that Clark and any surviving kryptonians shouldn't lose hope that they can preserve their culture and find new life, even without their home planet.

In the TV adaptation, however, for their Valentine's special the show runners thought it was too queercoded to have Bruce give a flower (basically a red rose) to Clark during the Valentine's episode. So at the end of the episode, Diana gives Clark a rose pretty much without prompting. The panel in the dream details that Diana just giving Clark a rose out of nowhere strips the original scene of all of its meaning. It's never explained why Diana has the rose, whether the rose is important, and never mentions it again. So by changing the scene to make it less queer, the show ruined a perfectly good moment of connection where Clark gets to have hope that his home world isn't completely unknowable to him.

Did dream me make all that up?? Am i crazy? Because that would be a WILD thing for my brain to just spawn in when I barely even watch justice league.

*So in the original comic, a big part of the plot was that sometimes love sits in a middle zone. Not all affection has to be specifically defined and characters can do semi romantic actions without being inherently romantically involved. So Bruce and Clark were shown to be in a "middle zone" in the comic where they do slightly romantic things but with platonic friendship feelings, mostly to express that love takes many forms.

my fallen london OC! i made them by accident a few months ago and as you can tell ive very quickly developed scoundrel brainrot. it's a terminal illness for which there is no cure and the symptoms are instead of brain there is scoundrel.

in terms of actual character rundowns, their full moniker is The Bandaged Scoundrel, though i tend to call them "the scoundrel" for short. their real name is D█████, but they'd sooner die permanently than respond to or even acknowledge its existence.

they are! a bastard! a rat! a son of a b___! a motherf______! they are vain beyond your wildest imagination and they think they're the most infallible perfect being in all of existence and they have the exact attitude of a saturday morning power-hungry cartoon supervillain on cocaine.

and also, perhaps most importantly, they're Really Fucking Stupid. because of course they are.

they are resplendently awful. they are inevitably going to cause their own demise in an act of pure karmic retribution. they are a speck of dust in history that desperately keeps trying to insist they're actually a tornado. i love them dearly.

i spent 3 months watching gilmore girls and i finally finished it and a year in the life and then netflix is like hmm what should we recommend... gilmore girls season 1 episode 1 is starting in 3 seconds

#i like that theyve always been right there and from the beginning in the comics. they slowly gained more and more importance as #their parents died and they became dale and andreas kids. but they were still quiet background characters we saw rather than heard.#made the twist so much more gut wrenching and subtle until it was right up in your face!!!#because they just made lizzie full on joker cackling insane and it was a steady descent of her stability and makes sense they had #like no time to set up the characters. and the kids of characters we didnt know ughhhh #as someone who watched the show first then comics i think the only sign i really had that lizzie was supposed to be ben was the cat thing.#and ugh carl making the tough call and it weighing him down forever makes more sense than whatever that shit in the woods with hershel was #i think the show has a habit of having things happen and then the consequences of them get lost to time just bc theres so much #that has to happen in a show to make it interesting to watch #it was nice to see that carl still held onto it even a couple years later and it furthered him n andreas relationship #so very annoying thinking about how people watch this show and get mad when awful things SHOULD happen #if you cant stomach stuff like rape and children dying and shit happening?? dont watch?

Um I haven't finished playing sdr2 even tho I did watch a play through of it a long time ago but I'm also not sure I ever finished that wither? I might have left off on that in a really similar place (during the last investigation)?? I know who did it cos of spoilers but I don't know any details about it and since I put the game down in the middle of the investigation and accidentally didn't return to it for a while I have ... no fucking clue how to finish the investigation.

Also I literally don't know ANYTHING about drv3 like. I think I've seen a few trial spoilers for WHO are murderers but I also don't know who they kill or what context and I also like don't even know any of the character's names except like Gonta... like I literally don't know who those people even are. I'm sure I'll get to it eventually. Maybe.

Anyway I'm kind of in the mood to watch all the THH FTEs and maybe the sdr2 ones but also. Sleepy.

#anyway i was thinking like how deeply i think about other characters and frsnchises i get really into despite the fact that #the charCters may technically be more shallow like. just not as fleshed out. wwhich a lot of dr characters arent WELL fleshed out #AND a lot of them have references to other IPs and stuff that just go completely over my head and therefore cant inform my opinion of #who they are But Like. i have a hard time articulating my rhoughts on these characters spesifically #idk. seems weird that i put so much more thought into like archie comics and am cinfident with a lot of ir #i think with dr its the combo of like.
