I am thinking about. Jamie and the Second Doctor.
Because out of all the incarnations of the Doctor, Two is arguably the one who uses manipulation and disguises the most. He thrives on using people's intelligence against them, on tricking people, on bluffing and his bluffs working. He has a different disguise every story pretty much and is constantly playing some kind of role.
And then you look at Jamie, and some of Jamie's most front and center traits are his loyalty and his honesty (and protectiveness, but less applicable). Jamie is loyal to a fault and extremely trusting of the Doctor. He's honest and straightforward and deeply caring.
And Jamie is the one who sticks by the Second Doctor for as long as he physically can--and you'd look at those two characters, one who is manipulative and cunning, and one who is loyal to a fault, and you'd think the Doctor would easily be able to take advantage of Jamie, that Jamie would just be a tool for him but he's not, they're on equal footing. Jamie pulls the Doctor down and reminds him what being human is all about.

I read that the Velma cartoon was originally an original series but WB needed something new from the Scooby-Doo IP, so I think the real purpose is some sort of copyright law exception

The actual reason is almost certainly someone at HBO after they had gutted their original animation programs going “Hmm, a Scooby Doo adult comedy show would be more financially viable than just “Mindy Kailing is making an adult animated comedy about mystery solving teens!”“
Also its a misconception that companies are making remakes or reboots or just reusing IPs all the time out of copyright concerns like all the people saying thats why Disney has been remaking stuff from the 90s dont know what theyre talking about. That happens when a someone licenses an IP from its holder but hasnt done anything with it and these licenses usually have terms and conditions about when they expire with the expiration happening sooner if nothing has actually been made with the IP.
The most famous example is the 1994 unreleased Fantastic Four movie which was created purely so as to avoid letting the option expire and has a wild story behind it but another funny one is the little known 1967 adaptation of The Hobbit which basically has nothing to do with the Hobbit but has a funny story behind it

Early live action adaptations of Marvel Super villains
So we all know about the big and small screen marvel villains:Your Tom Hiddleston as Lokis ,your Ian Mckellens as Magnetos, your Willem Dafoe Green Goblins....I wanted to see who were the earliest Marvel villains adapted into live action .
Some of these I have seen some I havent .
Rule-
1.Live action villains only
2.Cutoff is 1999,only 20th century baddies here
3.Only villains from the comics ....Though I do have two honurable mentions
Jessica Walter as Morgan Le Fey-Doctor Strange (Still havent seen this but yeah turns out she is the first live action version of a marvel super villain)
John Rhyse Davies as Kingpin -TRial of the Incredible Hulk (A good Kingpin ,goes more for the mastermind side but lacking the imposingness of later versions.Not my favorite Kingpin but John Rhyse Davis is a magnificent actor )
Scott Paulin as Red Skull -Captain America (SCott Paulin is great here ,he is a menacing presence and I love his initial design.....Let down by the "Plastic surgery look" he has the ret of the film,also cause the film is bad )
Joseph Culp as Doctor Doom -Fantastic Four (DEspite the fact his voice is muffled alot so its hard to understand him,I like how faithful the costume ,I dig the grand gesturing and I love how jovial he is ,hes always laughing bout something ,I think he is my fave of the early Marvel movie villains )
Sandra Hess as Andrea Von Strucker /VIper(Combined into one character ),and Peter Haworth as Arnim Zola -Nick Fury (Apparently Baron Von Strucker and Wener Von Stucker are in it too but I couldnt find images.Also I've never finished this movie )
Stephen Dorff as DEacon Frost -Blade (DOnt know anything bout his comic counterpart......But I love the movie version of this guy.Love this asshole )
And in the "I dont know if this counts "honourable mentions
Brian Thompson as Kabal/Baron Mordo -Doctor Mordrid (SO I have heard from various sources this was either going to be a Doctor Strange movie OR it was inspired by Doctor Strange,either way ,Kabal is a clear stand in for Baron Mordo .Either way film is pretty fun and Brian Thompson is a fun villain )
Ian Trigger as the Jeweler/Mole Man-Fantastic Four (This I know for a fact was supposed to be the Mole Man.....But Marvel wouldnt let them use the Mole Man ,so they just called him something else .I do like Ian Triggers performjance,but I feel like they shouldve cut him out OR made him the main villain )
I might do this for 20th century villain DC villains,I dunno this was fun

but you're so right about everything with totk. you put it in words so well 😭 idk if you found memory 9, so i won't spoil anything, but it was SO GOOFY look up gmod smile after you watch it and explode instantly. loftwings would've made the game infinity better, like skeleehorses can go over gloom (such a silly name btw) and horses are always great, but there's nothing to ride in the sky??? missed oppurtunity imo. i basically play with no tech becuase i hate using it 😔 i have much to say on this game and sadly most of it around the plot isn't thatg nice

but no yeah i dont enjoy the tech lol. i think modern tech in fantasy is a slippery slope from “woah cool its so interesting how this fantastical society developed things we never couldve thought of” to “this isnt even fantasy its just sci-fi with medieval paint slapped over it” thats what botw vs. totk is to me. we went from giant magical mechs and tech that felt more like sentient creatures to a straight up four wheeler. also its just clunky. to me. vexes me.
i am playing it very slowly for several reasons so im not far im only two memories in (trying to do them in order) lol but im not impressed by the writing either again ive only beat the rito “dungeon” idk what to call it. it was fine. really felt like they just tried to replicate the divine beasts but it didnt work. the weird disembodied voice felt forced in totk its just this random exposition guy that felt like he was just there for the sake of mimicking the structure of the champions talking to you where in botw that makes sense because they’re important characters that you learn more about and play a role in the story and also they literally died and their souls were trapped in their beasts. and totk was like ah shit ah fuck we gotta have another disembodied voice throw this guy in there and have him lore drop on you. who is he. who cares.
and then the divine beasts were like interesting involved puzzles there was one i thiiiink the camel you literally had to turn entire parts of it to line up electrical signals to get places and unlock things it was a little frustrating but i had to think about it!! same with the elephant you had to control the entire mechanism to move things and you had to Think about it. the rito ship was just go find these things. ok the divine beasts were also that with the terminals but you had to work for it. totk really just went go walk around for awhile and find them. no real puzzle to it. there was a little bit with the doors/levers but it did not feel nearly as involved or thought through.
i will say i did like the boss fight the ice guy. cool guy. looked cool baller music neat new little thing you had to do to beat it i liked it. that was cool i will give them that they know how to get me pumped for a boss fight
ok but the cutscene with zelda near the beginning was goofy as hell. just straight up like woaaaahh she floated into the sky thats crazy!!! whaaat!!!!! felt extremely silly. i was sitting there like is this a gag is this supposed to be funny i cannot tell. very much threw me off. could not take seriously
also. fucking. got rid of her again. if they wanted to have the same success of botw maybe they should’ve gee idk changed the formula again and let zelda be with us. a two player zelda game would be so cool. even if it was still single player and we could just interact with her and have her with us im thinking kindof last of us/resident evil 4 style where she helps you do certain puzzles or helps you fight like other npcs. even if she just stayed at the base and helped purah with research and you could talk to her thatd be more interesting. GIVE HER TO ME!!
the intro really just felt like oh we have to get rid of zelda again because we need link to be alone so we can copy botw uhhhhh magic rock teleports her to the past yeah yeah that works. they decided they needed this to happen and then made a story to excuse those choices rather than actually construct something cohesive.

Big gay al's gay boat ride: ep 4 season 1
●The main four boys (Eric, Kyle, Kenny and Stan) all play soccer with some of their classmates. And while i dont think most of them did it entirely willingly, it could still be a pretty good headcanon that at least one of them continued it when they get older (probably Stan)
●Eric calls Stan's dog gay but Stan thinks he's just confused. That is literally so funny to me man idk why. LMAO ANYWAYS JUST THOUGHT I SHOULD MENTION THIS😭
●Chef is an absolute womaniser who loves making love to women. Love that guy fr LMAO
●pip doesn't get safety precautions like a helmet while playing soccer; Chef doesn't like him much i dont think. Poor pip😔

thinking about beyond birthday breaking out of prison (probably by faking his death or something of the sort) and then he shows up at taskforce HQ dressed as L
i dont normally make longish posts but i brain dumped so im putting a cut
this post is very disorganized O_O
why hasn’t B been thrown back in jail?
career criminal ?? hes a wammy kid maybe L keeps him around for the kira case as another brain to use on the contingency he cant leave the HQ building and if he doesn't help he goes back to the supermax (i just want my blorbos to blorb yknow) and i dont think L would intrinsically dislike B, an excuse to keep him close and rehabilitatable might make L feel better about the entire situation with his first two succsessors.
B would be both a major suck ass and a complete nuisance to L, anything to keep his attention and not necessarily because he likes L but because he likes bothering him incessantly. He’s still fascinated with L but working alongside him might make him less fantastical and untouchable as B’s upbringing would have made him out to be and that in it of itself is fascinating. There’s new previously unseen buttons to push. L would likely not engage or engage just enough to get Beyond back to working and give in when the workday is over.
he’d still want to one up L in some way though, maybe not to the extremes he used to but they’d get in spats sometimes trying to untangle the case so they end up cutting the string to pieces.
I think they’d also speak in languages besides english and japanese to talk about anything that could be related back to wammy’s.
L would also be perturbed by B’s instance on dressing like him but would be satisfied with at least a change in shirt color for practicality in telling them apart.
Matsuda wouldn't be able to tell the difference between L and B and B would get a kick out of lulling him into the false sense of security before doing something deranged

memory-less Light would be quite disturbed at the fact this serial killer just gets to hang around. I know Light seemed pretty ok with Wedy and Aiber but their crimes are aren’t on the same scale as murdering a whole child and two adults. I debate on whether he’d make a fuss about it but in the end Beyond is better under surveillance there at HQ than in a prison he’s proven to be escape-able.
B might grow on him a little but there would be some distance put on by Light. Light also gets annoyed with B’s antics to bug L and therefore distracting from the case. They definitely get in a tussle once or twice because of it but Light stops picking physical fights when Beyond threatens to bite him. Which ends up in B provoking Light more as he’s also quite fascinating.
Kira Light though would probably piece together that he has the shinigami eyes and try to kill him alongside L or snatch this feller up as a pawn for the new world.
I much prefer the latter option because of how evile they'd be together but that is another post.

thinking about the series of stories i wrote for shipweek back in 2021 and i dont usually like talking about regrets and stuff when it comes to writing because I feel that could possibly colour expectations and i’d rather other people make their own opinions about how something i made might make them feel. Buuuut its been long enough and also i’m not particularly attached to that story anyway so...
I feel like i’ve said this before, but i was going about fantastic chain of love in the most unnecessarily troublesome way possible. Like I had actually planned out exactly what ships i wanted to do for the whole week beforehand... But then suddenly on the very day before the week started, i completely changed my mind on what i wanted the first ship i wrote to be. And because of the gimmick i commited to with those stories, it meant I had to come up with something new for each day of the week, so i just kinda stream-of-consciousness quickly thought of something and then tried to write it within twenty four hours, and then did this like twelve times, for seven or so days in a row 🤪
Honestly its a miracle that any of it even came out comprehensible, and i did ultimately accomplish my initial goal, was to just write anything because i had been in a huge writing rut up until that point. Now only time will tell if history will repeat itself or if im approaching 2023 shipweek any smarter! (I mean i kinda already know the answer, but i’ll let any potential readers decide for themselves... o_o)

ur revised drow lore is everything to us! we love drow so much one of our favourite dnd novels is about a drow so the idea that his own experiences with his race might be less related to the whole drow race as a whole but to how his own society within it behaved is so good (biased because that was our own personal idea before also assdfbvcsfd) and we love ur drider lore too absolutely amazing fantastic brilliant we are holding ur hand and looking at u with sparkly eyes as we write this<3

the more i looked into the drow the more it was obvious the writers didnt understand what they wanted other than "evil", and so a lot of the information was contradictory. they wanted them to be chaotic evil, because thats the baddest alignment, but they couldnt perceive an evil matriarchy as anything other than overbearing and naggy because of their preconceptions about women also
allegedly ghaunadaur was a god that existed before the drow pantheon and was just kinda absorbed into it but at the same time why would the drow worship a god of slimes and other related species if this version of the drow sees all species especially the less sentient ones as inferior
also i think its odd their one "good" goddess is the goddess of moonlight when the drow actually have very little to do with the moon. moon elves are a thing theyre like the common elf
theres also four gods associated with rebellion and/or chaos. once again doesnt fit with how the drow are characterized as hyper militant conquerers who live in strict societies. its already been pointed out that it doesnt make much sense that drow are considered to automatically be chaotic-aligned when their society is set up to be the blwuh bluwh evil matriarchy martial law like it is. theres a lot of political turmoil and backstabbing but the average drow isnt really taking part in it because of the harsh class division
and of course with the "automatically evil" societies (cough ORCS) the religious lore reflects that without question like lolth was evil and betrayed the other gods and all the elves that followed her chose to descend into darkness and thats why drow are BAD and its like. you sound like a mormon. this is stupid
like. okay. lets say thats what objectively happened its never made clear if the drow believe a different version of events or anything. we know they see the constant infighting as "culling of the weak" (but its actually just lolth fucking with them because shes evil) but like. what do they think about the initial betrayal what story do they believe because most people dont do things that are like blatantly cartoonishly evil in their own minds
also they cant seem to decide if drow society is fractured or not. are they all separate warring city states or are they a monolith of evil nasty elves???
but like really why would the drow worship this pantheon? all the gods fucking suckkkk they dont help them with anything except murder. its not the way any society develops, even a ruthless and terrible one.

TAG GAME: EIGHT SHOWS TO GET TO KNOW ME

disclaimer: lots of anime recs here HAHAHA im a weeb. also idk how else to describe stuff sometimes HJDSFKJSDHKF it's just different iterations of "wow im floored. watch it." or "this fundamentally changed me as a person."
Code Geass - Brings back memories of senior year in high school where I binged all 25 episodes of the first season during finals week, then binged all 25 episodes of the second season the next week. Season 1 was eh but it was building up for the actual bone-deep pain of Season 2. The Zero Requiem finale still hits man, it's such a perfect way to end the series. Why are mecha animes so steeped in heavy politics. Good for them! Also the Pizza Hut placements were great (we love you Cheese-kun).
Mob Psycho 100 - AMAZING ANIMATION. AMAZING STORYTELLING. WHOLESOME HIGH SCHOOLERS GOING THROUGH THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF LIFE WHILE ALSO HAVING THE MOST POWERFUL PSYCHIC ABILITIES. Genuinely feel-good, so many inspirational quotes in here. Made me cry on some occasions because I didn't expect to hear the words I needed to hear from a shounen anime of all things. Also Reigen is babygirl for a REASON.
Peaky Blinders - Where do I start. I like period dramas, and the premise intrigued me. Season 1 is so damaging to me in so many ways like I don't think any other show could get as perfect as those six episodes AAAAA IM SO ATTACHED TO IT. The whole cast are phenomenal and they really carried the show, and the song features are so good too. Also Cillian Murphy is so hot goddamn.
The Promised Neverland - DO NOT WATCH THE SECOND SEASON. Anyway. I read the manga so I know how the rest of the plot goes, but Season 1 is such an amazing display of psychological horror. The visceral fear of realizing Isabella is always one step ahead of the kids, and just generally trying outpace her while acting like everything's normal. Wow.
Attack on Titan - lol. I don't really care much about the new series anymore, but back in 2013 this was the first anime I properly watched (and the rest of the world had its dick and balls gripped by the Salute™ and the Wings of Freedom™ too). I guess I was pretty fucked up as a kid for thinking I had the balls to join the Survey Corps and could live to tell the tale. Formative anime of all time actually.
Avatar: The Last Airbender - A childhood classic. What else do I say, it's just perfect. Amazing. Fantastic. Spectacular. I have official books of that franchise: all four of The Lost Scrolls, one of the Journey Through The Earth Kingdom books, and the Tales of Zuko book. It's just so dear and close to my heart, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Adventure Time - Another childhood classic. I think I watched every episode up until the first few episodes of Season 5, then I just stopped caring SHDFJSJKFH. BUT. But, it's also still very meaningful to me, it's an amazing combination of fun but also unintentionally dark. I should pick up on it again when I have the time, honestly.
Bungou Stray Dogs - I haven't touched anything related to this anime since 2019 but this is really that one show that shaped me for a long while, mostly because I met my internet friends because of this show, and my first few days on Twitter was dedicated to being a BSD fan. The whole concept too of characters based off famous classic authors with abilities names after their most famous works is really a banger, it made me a reader again.
