Dream was leaned against the table, arm rested on his side as he faced his lover, his lover that was fogging his senses, making his hands twitch, making his lips curl.
You were become his everything, and to a being that was there in the beginnings, that was a lot.
You were a good dancer. Dancing had drastically evolved throughout the ages, they highly varied with each species, and yet, here you were, swaying your hips absentmindedly and you had him in a chokehold.
You were mouthing the lyrics, moving on beat, moving by heart.
He watched how your face lit up when the next song played. He knew it well, for the artist had been musing his lovelorn often in the Dreaming. The Dream Lord now could practically see the memory of you first listening to the song, slowly loving it more and more.
He watches you turn with your hands in the air and your eyes closed. He can feel his being swell, even more overwhelmed with tenderness for you.
He stiffens when you turn to him and smile. He feels like a deer caught in headlights. His heart leaps up to his throat.
You dance over to him, so very suddenly off beat, so very suddenly making a horrible face, so very suddenly ripping his beating heart out of his chest with an emotion mere words could never describe.
The King of Dreams jumps out of his chair when you trip on your own feet because of your shenanigans. The rooms goes silent to him when he dashes and you fall to his arms, looking up to him like a bashful calf, unable to keep their body upright.
You smile at him and laugh. He does not hear it, nor does he make out what you say as you lean into him, making the very fabric of his existence ripple with a feel of contentment he has never felt in his eons of being.
You lead him back to his chair, smiling as you explain whatever it is you were explaining, then you reach out for his face, brushing his hair back, retracing the bridge of his nose, tapping the tip before leaning in to giggle.
And it was as though he was being born back into the world when he finally hears the words you sing as the music pans into his ears.
"You're the one that's always running through my daydreams-- have you been listening to a word I've been saying, baby?"
Dream sucks in a breath as you look at him with wide eyed inquisition. The scent of you doubles when you lean in. He feels a guilt crawl up his nape, "I admit I was too distracted to make out your words."
You let out a breath, annoyed but not really, no. In place of it, a concerned expression creeps up to your cheeks, "wait, is it the vibe? Are you not enjoying yourself? Are you overwhelmed by everything?"
Dream chuckles, turning to his lap, shaking his head, "I enjoy all we do together." He turns back to you, hand coming to your face, thumb rubbing your skin, "it is you that is overwhelming."
You freeze. You grow rigid.
"Your mere presence is so much to me that my being continuously tunes into segments of you, unwilling to miss a even the smallest fraction of your being. In all its irony, however, I miss other parts."
You watch as a line forms on his forehead. Truly, it was as though his concern for the matter was being emitted out into the air. A breath leaves your lips as you melt into a chuckle.
You think of something to say, "so... what you're saying is... I'm too hot to handle?"
A glass is broken in the other table. Neither of your break your gaze on each other.
Dream smiles, "in simpler terms," he agrees as he pulls your chair closer to him. He widens the gap between his legs so that you could bring yours in the middle, "though I fear such simple terms do not compensate for how utterly drawn my soul is to yours."
You hold back a smile, taking both his hands in yours, bringing them near you. You take a moment to look at him, chuckling with a wide grin before speaking, "and I love you."

Okay, so I opened a fic with Striders in it and randomly wanted to put on Borderlands 3 ambient music in the background (I'm having a depressed episode rn and wanted comfort.) And I thought Oh... There would be A War over who gets to be Zer0 in BL2. (Bc they won't do a double Zer0 run, let's face it, there can only be one.)

besties u better reblog things not to like them bc liking kill posts mostly. being on tumblr for past few years really shoved me how pointless it is sometimes to post an art or a piece of anything (the same as on twitter these days. even thought twitter has algorithm for likes) i literally have a pack of drawings i did that ive never uploaded and not uploading bc whats the point. im okay to having it to myself but when i decide to share its half time dissapointing. and MORE dissapointing is to see my fellow artists not getting attention their deserve while they draw the most beautiful things possible.
whats the function of likes anyway. liked post = soon forgotten and dead even inside yours dash. am i right
i understand that like means 'i like your work' but honestly. personally i do not care about likes because like is the most flat and empty way of reaction to anything. thats why i do not post anything on social media at all (not even talking about art rn) bc feels like its the only way of communicating and it is the WORST way of communicating its like a simulation of empty anonymous social something meaning nothing. what i love about tumblr is that u get tags and opportunity to hear people more. their thoughts and opinions on stuff and especially stuff u make. like damn. thats the real treasure. the only reason im still on this godforsaken platform is that i love to communicate i need to communicate. and in this case likes suck ass. and i am myself guilty of getting into them too much sometimes but i work on this.
why do i as an artist draw stuff and post it at all? 1. obvious answer - the process in fun and its cool to make something beautiful. 2. more wholesome reason - its the way to start a conversation. on any idea, au, headcanon, characters dynamics - anything. the whole point of drawings is to talk. and ugh it feels SHITTY not to have this and to get only empty symbol of your work appretiation in the form of a like. i must say most of the times likes feel like pitying more. 'its great thats youve made it but i dont really need it anywhere around my dash' and thats totally okay - likes just do not work in some form of support anyway.
50 equals 1 reblog with a tag in it. i'd trade it this way no second thoughts.
so. hear us out babies im not the one asking for this. lets support each other. because art is not made for likes. its made for others
