Bodily autonomy, for those unfamiliar with the concept:
Even if life begins at conception, the law has no business making abortions illegal.
Let's say I have a child who is ... let's say 20 years old. Let's suppose that my 20 year old child needs a partial liver transplant, and I am the only match. There is an argument of moral obligation, sure, but if I choose not to partially donate my own liver (they grow back! it’s not like a kidney), that is not illegal.
Let's say I'm DEAD, but did not consent to being an organ donor while I was alive. Guess what? 20 year old child is still not getting that liver. That's because my DEAD BODY has rights.
You can be the sole person that can keep another person alive by using a part of your body that won’t harm you by giving it away. (Your blood or your bone marrow for instance.) You can choose not to give that part of your body to keep that other person alive. The law does not get a say in this decision. That’s because you have a right to bodily autonomy.
So, should a human in possession of a uterus have less rights than a corpse, or should a fetus have more rights than any other human being?
"A great elk lay dead on the long worktable in the center of the dark space, the arrow through its throat illumined by the watery light leaking through the small windows.
Blood pooled on the gray stone floor, its drip the only sound.
The only sound as Tamlin sat in a chair before it. Staring at the felled beast, its dark eyes open and glazed."
HE'S FINISHED with a secret bonus ending that I didn't show you before!
Yes, it's That scene from ACOFAS. It really stood out to me, and I knew I had to draw it sooner or later - I just didn't realise I'd put this much effort into it.
I like to imagine that he's sat there for hours in a spiral of rage, apathy and depression, both before and after Rhys's visit. Spending less and less time as fae, and possibly after this very day, their encounter, decides to spend his time as a Beast, permanently.
While making her perfect simulation, Marina slowly got consumed by her technology, causing her to ascend to "digital godhood." Marina ends up using her digital powers to make sure her world is perfect, almost too perfect.
Day 1 is OC x Canon, so I wrote a little thing about when Cass met (and fell in love) with Jalaneel 💙
With a special guest appearance from my other OC Rialto
It's a quiet night in the Junkyard on the day Cass met her.
Cass is perched on the tire, Alonzo casually sitting next to her. He's on watch while Munk is on patrol, but so far, the watch has been uneventful. They've been chatting for hours now, the only memorable moment being Teazer and Jerrie running back into the clearing, arms full of new loot.
But then a loud voice booming from the clearing disturbs Cass and Alonzo's peace. Emerging into the clearing are two faces, one that Cass is all too familiar with.
It's Rialto, a large, handsome red tom who visits on occasion. His arm is wrapped securely around the shoulder of a cat that both Alonzo and Cass have never met before. At first glance, it's a Queen. Her coat is dark blue, a peculiar color that Cass has never seen another cat have.
And even from far away, Cass knows that she's absolutely gorgeous.
"Oh, great." Alonzo says, the annoyance in his voice obvious. It's no secret that Alonzo has nothing good to say about Rialto, taking great stride to avoid the tom whenever he graces the Junkyard with his presence.
He's rambling about how they should take this conversation somewhere else, somewhere far away from Rialto, but Cass cuts him off.
"Alonzo, be quiet. Who is that?"
Alonzo raises an eyebrow at Cass' lovestruck tone, but he then registers the second cat standing next to Rialto.
"I don't know. I've never seen her before... Cass, what is that look for?" But he already knows the answer, can practically see the hearts in her eyes as she doesn't take her eyes off the blue Queen.
"I'm going to go talk to her." Cass says, but finds herself being pulled back by the black and white tom.
"Cassandra, do not go flirt with her right now. First off, we don't know anything about her."
"I know she's gorgeous." Cass answers without missing a beat, and Alonzo can't argue with her there.
"Cass, look at her. Really look at her, she looks scared to death."
Cass finally registers that the beautiful Queen she hasn't taken her eyes off does look visibly frightened, unsure of where she is or what's going on.
"Oh, Everlasting Cat, Munk isn't here." Alonzo mutters angrily, "I have to deal with this."
"I'll come with you." Cass says all too eagerly, immediately standing up and already moving off the tire to where Rialto still has a comforting arm around the mystery Queen's shoulder.
Alonzo sighs, annoyed at the turn of events and being the one having to deal with this.
Alonzo and Cass walk up Rialto, who takes the two in before looking around nervously.
"Who is this? What's going on?" Alonzo reluctantly asks the red tom. Meanwhile, Cass has planted herself close to the blue queen, and Cass' heart does a little pitter-patter at the soft but sad smile she receives from the stranger Queen in return.
"Hey, is Munk around by chance?" Rialto questions, clearly not wanting to speak to Alonzo about whatever it is that's going on.
"No, he isn't. You have me, so start talking."
The two toms begin discussing what is going on - that Rialto found this one huddled up in an alley all by herself, crying and mumbling that she no longer has a home. She didn't give Rialto details, but Rialto assured her he knew a place where she would be well-taken care of.
Cass only barely registers what the two are talking about. Now, being up close to this mystery cat, she's even more gorgeous up close. She looks similar to Demeter and Bombalurina, but her fur is a beautiful dark blue and black color, with sprinkles of white mixed in.
On closer inspection, too, she's clearly been through a lot, her eyes red and puffy from crying and a few scratches marking her otherwise perfect fur. But the Queen untangles herself from Rialto, who doesn't seem to notice as he's still stuck in his very unpleasant conversation with Alonzo.
"You're safe here." Cass assures her, and the small pitter-patter of her heart turns to full-blown butterflies when the Queen gives her a genuine smile, the first flash of joy she's seen on her face since she arrived.
"Thank you," the Queen speaks softly back, "My name is Jalaneel, but just Jala is fine."
Jalaneel. Cass has to resist the urge to begin her usual flirting, choosing to extend one of her paws to her instead, a paw that Jala immediately takes. Cass pretends to not notice how long their paws stay entagled as Rialto and Alonzo continue their bickering in the background.
So, last week I was sleep deprived and write ST3V3 and Starscream singing "your obedient servant" Cause of a post from one of my favorite writers inspire my sleep deprived mind.
