hi everyone, finally, i made an ICYMI article for this film! i also made a playlist of all the trailers, promos, featurettes, etc., it's all right here.
and as always, no major spoilers.
- it was announced in october 2021 that there would be a second film
- the premiere date in the us moved from october 13 to september 29. it's also the premiere date for canada
- the movie will focus on skye
- first cast member anounced - taraji p. henson
- kim k revealed that she'll return as delores
- january 27: voice cast announced!
we have eight ryders! finn lee-epp will be ryder in the film
i predicted that justin paul kelly will be voicing chase in the film TWICE, but it never happened. i was wishing for him to shine as chase. well anyway, i'm sure christian convery will do great
christian corrao did well in all paws on deck, so yeah, confirmed that he's marshall
crying because it's not lilly bartlam as skye. clues are showing that it's mckenna grace. at first i was worried because i've heard her normal voice before. but because of spirit untamed, i'm sure she'll do great
callum shoniker returns as rocky
i knew luxton handspiker will be voicing rubble. he did well in rubble and crew
nylan parthipan as zuma? interesting...

- last september 23, team canada cast went on an advance private screening of the movie
- last september 24, paramount pictures had set a guinness world record of "most dogs attending a film screening" in los angeles. 219 dogs came to watch the film
- so far, only finn lee-epp (ryder) had several interviews about the movie. the team us cast appeared only on featurettes and interviews that were recorded a few months ago
- the official soundtrack with original score by pinar toprak was released on september 29
- there will be a third theatrical film set to release in 2026!
- the movie is on digital on october 31!
- the dvd for the mighty movie will release in the us on december 12.

Hopefully it's okay to ask you a question because I'm wondering do you know why Gamora hasn't been included in the vol 3 merch? I ran across some stuff a while ago and when she wasn't included I assumed it was just a one off incident. But I just ran across some other merch and she's still absent. So I'm not sure if they are waiting for the movie to create merch for her or what
Firstly, it's always okay to ask me questions about this stuff! I love talking about film marketing (I did study this stuff for 2 years after all). Always feel free to send me asks about anything!
As for your question here's my honest answer: I'm not entirely sure. There are a few logical conclusions though.
Spoilers. Historically the first wave of MCU merch is very clean when it comes to the events of the movie, only featuring characters we know will be in it and vague aesthetics that align with the plot. So far the main advertisements and merch for Vol 3 have featured the Guardians in their comic-accurate group suits, which we haven't seen Gamora in. She might end up getting that suit in the movie, but we have no idea and that would be a major spoiler, so it's easier to leave her out of cereal box promotions and toy box art to keep that unified aesthetic.
Along the same lines as spoilers but deserving of their own point is the LEGO sets. LEGO sets are 50/50 when it comes to being accurate to the events of the movie because again, spoilers. The Endgame sets they released to go along with the movie had absolutely nothing to do with the actual plot because sets get leaked so often and Disney didn't want the plot of their biggest superhero movie ever to be ruined. The Wakanda Forever and Multiverse of Madness sets were also pretty vague if I remember correctly. It's easiest to leave Gamora out of sets like the Guardians HQ or the Bowie because while she might actually be in those scenes, we won't know until the movie comes out (we can assume she'll be on the Bowie at one point based on that shot of her pulling out a knife but it's not official). Since the LEGO sets and toy lines release weeks before the movies, it's again easier to exclude Gamora from these first waves of merch.
The historically bad representation of Gamora on merch already. Outside of figures like Funko Pops and Marvel Legends, it's always been nearly impossible to find officially licensed merch of just Gamora, especially cute good looking merch. This has also been an issue with most of the MCU's female heroes but it's definitely gotten better these past few years. Unfortunately due to Gamora's role in Vol 3 being pretty secretive, that positive change doesn't get to apply to her this first wave.
So basically TL;DR, don't stress about this too much. We're still 2 months out from the movie's release and a month away from promo and press starting. Yes, it sucks that so far Gamora isn't being featured in anything outside of posters and trailers, and yes it's valid to be upset and frustrated with that. But remember that there's still a whole other wave of merch to come after the movie's release, and Zoe Saldaña is still second-billed. She and Chris Pratt were the last two (humans) to wrap the movie. James Gunn wouldn't have brought Gamora back if he didn't want to. If you're still feeling uneasy or worried (which I totally get!) @enigma731 has some great posts about why Gamora will be fine.
Sorry this is so damn long, I kinda got carried away lol. But yeah I do wish there was at least like a Funko Pop or something and find it ridiculous that Kraglin of all people is getting more merch than the female lead, but I'm personally not getting too worried right now because we still have two months until the movie. It's not looking completely terrible right now. (Trust me, I was a Star Wars sequels stan during 2019 TROS press. That movie's plot was leaked via an official German Burger King ad. If it ever gets that bad for Vol 3 you will definitely hear about it from me lol).

barbie movie spoilers, thoughts, highlights below
opening sequence in barbieland was INCREDIBLE, wonderful use of soundtrack, it just felt larger than life and artificial in the exactly correct way.
speed drive during the chase sequence in the Mattel HQ was incredible, so fun
the emphasis on women at all ages was really nice, from the fact that Ken is irrelevant because no seven year old wants a boyfriend so of course barbie is completely disinterested in ken, to barbie recognizing age and telling the elderly women she's beautiful, to Gloria's role in the movie.
the way the girls treated the barbies was just. so exactly true. it was so funny and on the nose.
the theater was laughing and cheering the whole time
the running joke with Ken seeing like two men on horses so he thinks patriarchy is about horses is so funny
the fact that Ken is the villain when practically nothing in the promo suggested that is like. you think the harmless pretty boy is just a harmless pretty boy but he's actually Evil
speaking of harmless pretty boys allan my beloved <3 wish we got more of him, but he was also so funny standing in the background of every shot like 🧍♂️
Cool Girl monologue walked so Gloria's could run!!!!
I need an "I am kenough" sweater
The way the film acknowledged and accepted the criticism of barbie as misogynistic was really well done
idk this movie was just really funny and good. there was an incredible amount of hype and it still delivered. seeing it again tomorrow <3

Don’t know which is more embarrassing. The fact Anne went to rewatch the same film just to drive sales. Or the fact she dragged her bf and friends to see her son eat pussy in HQ and thought it was a life accomplishment.

stopppp stfu 😭😭😭 remember when during the tokyo olympics there were some like sports magazines with "interviews" from hq!! characters about the monster generation and one of the topics was whether or not the sendai frogs would be promoted to D1 and that it seemed likely and w/e? well as a part of the promo for the movie coming out soon they've released more magazines and the cover of one of them is of tsukki and apparently it says that the frogs have now been promoted 😭😭😭
and like. i dont know enough japanese and the translations ive found are vague so idk if this is furudate official or anything but still this is so. i feel so silly but it makes me stupidly happy lmao—and not just that they've been promoted—but (and i was JUST about to make a post saying this about the new one shot too probably still will) i love how the hq!! universe just like, keeps going so that in the canon the teams are evolving and playing in real time, parallel to us and our time and idk there's just something special about it
