"We will discuss it with Mathis." Tirius had men working around the grounds, debating on which would be the better choice, which would be the safer choice. Mathis would need fortification, he wasn't the warrior sort, or maybe he was. Tirius felt so confused some days, so lost about who his brother seemed to be. Of course the Lord could fight, all Lords worth anything could fight for they came from great houses and House Rowan was one of the greatest of houses in existence. The house that fostered the future King.
At the next part of the conversation, he nodded his head, tongue running over his lips, and hand over his beard. With the furrow of his brow, he nodded his head. "The tensions with Lys are new. When my wife departed with our children we were not involved in conflicts with Lys. I instructed her to not return until after matters were resolved."
A half truth, he asked her when she would return, told her of his brothers death. And somewhere between that she stopped writing him. Then Tahir stopped and Tarik never wrote letters but Bekir and his sister would send their impossible to read letters with drawings and doodles.
"Your grace, my wife has returned from home to learn she can no longer write the father and brother she reconnected with. And she has accepted that her staff from Lys must return along with the ladies who accompanied her." Tirius paused for a moment. This was the best time to have this conversation and it was better to speak plainly with the man he watched grow from a boy.
"There should be no more suspicion on my house than it would be on any other. We just hosted the Lyseni and the Summer Islanders. It offends me that my wife and children are looked upon with suspicion. I suspect the spy mistress came to you with these suspicions? The Spy Mistress who should concern herself with the issues of Hornhill and the Starry instead of wasting her time solving problems for Casimir Tully who has his own Spy Master."
House Tarly. Trash. A bastard and a pirate.

[ introduction ] ⸻
the union between the newly appointed ruling lord bahadır dayne and his longtime paramour, vahide sand, following the unfortunate and sudden demise of his father, the late ruling lord of starfall, was seen not so much as a disrespectful scandal but rather as a highly anticipated event ─ having been lovers since their youth, their intention to marry was well - known throughout dorne after bahadır had rejected all other proposals for marriage in favor of keeping faith to his paramour. the sole obstacle to their happiness had been his father, who had threatened to disinherit his only son and current heir if bahadır went through with the union, so there were few who begrudged the young couple for their small delights after facing such struggle and lost.
the truth was not as clean, however, and what had happened in the months that had led up to their marriage had forever changed both bahadır and vahide, and how they saw and loved each other. after vahide had fallen pregnant in the early months of 376 a.c, she had placed a tremendous amount of pressure on bahadır to revisit the matter of their marriage with his father and after receiving yet another unflinching rejection, she knew that there was no other choice but to remove the hindrance in her path to legitimizing her illicit relationship and the children that would be born into that relationship. having been raised with the stain of bastardy, vahide knew that while dorne was accepting to children borne out of passion, the rest of westeros would not be as kind and she did not wish to begrudge her children from their rightful titles and inheritances just because an old man disliked her impertinence.
against bahadır’s wishes, she had sourced a vial of the tears of lys from her connections in the villages along the shores of the torentine, paying a pretty price to discreetly poison the man that would have been her father by law ─ his death was not as orderly as his life and vahide took some vindicative glee in watching as he sweated and shat himself to death, offering her shoulder to comfort the distraught bahadır as they buried his father in the traditional rites associated with house dayne. yet her husband was no fool and though no one had questioned the death of the late ruling lord of starfall, he was paranoid enough to begin his own inspection and all fingers had pointed back to his heavily pregnant wife. confronting her of her crimes one evening, the two had descended into an argument that had only been broken by the sudden pangs of an early birth that pushed all disagreements aside as vahide labored to bring their children into the world.
the birth of the twins, a boy and a girl that was named seda yıldız, allowed for a moment of quiet to pass between the couple and, unwilling to argue with his exhausted wife, bahadır had ceded to her defense that she had only poisoned his father for the sake of their children, sleeping peacefully in his arms. yet though he understood, the new ruling lord dayne would never forget and that had casted a shadow over their marriage and their children, filling what had once been a loving relationship with doubt and bitterness.
it was into that household that seda was born and raised ─ a preceptive child whose skills with emotions ( of others and of her own ) had been sharpened on the silent war of suspicion between her parents, she took on the role of mediator from a young age. while she had been easily frustrated by the unspoken tension, often bursting into tears when it seemed as though her parents would never speak ❛ normally ❜ to each other again, she had quickly learned how to weaponize these emotions ─ though bahadır and vahide were torn between love and hate for each other on most days, they were united in their adoration of the children that their marriage produced and seda was not above manipulating both of her parents into better moods, relaxing only when they were relaxed and souring in her temperament when one or both were displeased.
with an unhealthy dependency on their oldest daughter, the idea that seda would be sent away indefinitely to serve as junior lady - in - waiting to the queen was unthinkable yet vahide, who had always harbored grand aspirations for all of her children, had been forceful enough that bahadır could only bow to her ambition to place their daughter in a nest with the dragons. the hope had been to secure a targaryen husband for their blossoming daughter as house dayne had been staunch supporters of the dragonlords since the time of ashara dayne but seda had instead endeared herself to the queen visenya, becoming a pivotal addition to the queen’s household and a constant presence in the lives of the young princes and princesses. while the king and the queen were in a privately loveless marriage, as was common for those in their elevated positions, seda was not unfamiliar with navigating the treacherous waters of parental tension and had often taken an interest in distracting and entertaining the younger targaryens with her own machinations, filling her longing for her own siblings by focusing on the little dragons instead.
seda was her mother’s daughter, however, weaned on the same hunger that had seen a bastard rise up to the position of ruling lady of starfall and so it came as no surprise that her roaming gaze had fixated on a position far above her means and experience. she had been schooled in the politics of court by her mistress, the queen, since the age of fourteen but she was inexperienced to the art of espionage beyond what she had picked up at her mother’s skirts, so it was with some reluctance that queen visenya allowed her to apprentice beneath the master of whispers as one of their little birds in court. her attempts at subtle observation were often exposed in the first few months of her new role but seda had learned to muffle her footsteps and shroud herself in darkness, exploring the underground passageways and returning to her duties as lady - in - waiting with dirt on her cheeks and scrapes on her knees.
after a few years as an unofficial apprentice, it had become obvious that her heart was no longer in the service of her queen no matter the loyalty that she had shown and so, at twenty four, she had been released from her position as lady to the queen and officially assumed the role as court scribe and apprentice to the master of whispers, marking her gradual rise to power. ( when the news had reached dorne, some two months after her appointment, a letter had come for her, bearing the hand of her father and speaking of his disappointment, followed by a shorter one, penned by her mother, speaking of her approval and bearing advice on how to rid herself of the obstacle in her path. ) the duties of a court scribe had brought her into close proximity to the king who, though unpleasant, was someone that she needed to familiarize herself with if she ever hoped to reach her goals.
it had taken time but her closeness to the royal family meant that her presence was already accepted and she undertook any menial task that was asked of her with little complaint, and by the time her mentor had retired to return to his family in braavos, seda was known to be a trustworthy replacement, naturally assuming the role of mistress of whispers on the small council and the guardianship over hundreds of little birds spread across westeros and the free cities. one by one, she had them invited and inspected, most were kept under employment but those that chose to leave were permitted to do so with her blessings and a hefty purse to buy them a new life somewhere better. her spies are planted in places high and low, from the chambermaid that emptied the pots to the insignificant petty nobleman that lurked in the corner, everyone had a price and seda, backed by the iron throne, was not shy with coin.
though most of her network had been utilized for the benefit of the crown, she had spared one little bird to send down to where her longstanding betrothed had been seen last, according to rumor. hisham tarly had been an elusive figure since the time when they were first matched in their late teens and the two had never laid eyes upon another but through portraits, never conversed but through letters ─ she had been content to keep it as such until the man had deemed it fit to send her a gift when her own father had not and seda, suspicious of any kindness extended by a stranger, had immediately jumped to a million conclusions. yet her spy had not returned alone, bringing along the elusive lord heir tarly with them to king’s landing with questions of his own and though she had no intention of honoring the alliance planned by their parents, hoping to drag out the betrothal until they were both greyed in the hair, hisham had curled his way into her heart and into her bed, charming her with his wit and his clear concern for the underdog, many of whom were under her employment.
the conception of their first child had come with many concerns and as much pressure as she imagined her mother must have felt, all those years ago, unwedded, pregnant and with the stain of bastardy hanging above her head. throughout her doubts, hisham had remained steadfast in his support, not balking from the challenge when she had laid out her terms and, though her father heavily disapproved, their daughter had been born some months after their wedding in the capital, with seda serving the crown throughout her pregnancy until her belly had gotten too big to work around. three more babes would arrive, all born beneath the targaryen banner in king’s landing and yet her position had never faltered, only growing stronger with the assistance and understanding of her husband, who continued to make frequent short trips even as the passing of his father burdened him with the duties of ruling lord of hornhill.
many had assumed that seda would relinquish her position on the small council following the birth of her fourth child and though there was no pressure to do so from her husband, she had considered settling down in hornhill to assume her duties as ruling lady and as wife but the unexpected death of princess laena targaryen née velaryon of dragonstone had called her to service once more. sending fairuza to safety with her father in the reach, seda had been charged to investigate the cause behind the princess’ death and what she had discovered had been brought to the king, the truth spoken into his ears alone. she had hoped that the knowledge would compel the king to concentrate more on westeros and the displeased lords within it but instead, plans were made to find a second bride for the prince of dragonstone among the valyrian bloodlines across the narrow sea, her advice to appease the people going unheard.
unwilling to further commit herself to a king that was so uncaring to the displeasures of his own people and knowing that it would not be too long before those displeasures turn into rebellions against the crown, seda is now torn between her wavering loyalty to the king and her own self - preservation. she looks to the princes of dragonstone and summerhall, boys she had seen grow from children into men and wonders which one of them would be a wiser option to keep both her position of power and her head.
[ connections ] ⸻
the courtiers ⸻ : having been in king’s landing for twenty six years as both lady in waiting to the queen and mistress of whispers to the king, seda has likely met with everyone who has had a reason to be in court, though whether or not they have made an impression ( good or bad ) on the mistress of whispers remains to be seen. she may keep in pleasant contact with some or be suspicious of others for various different reasons and she may even dislike some for the threat that they pose to her or to the crown !
the little birds ⸻ : while most of her spies come from the ranks of lowborns and minor nobility, seda has had the crown backing her work for the past fourteen years and she is not above bribing or blackmailing someone to get more information from them. these could be former or present characters that were either coerced into spying for her or willingly offered their assistance and knowledge in exchange for something.
people from dorne, the reach or the crownlands ⸻ : excluding the members of house dayne ( who are desperately wanted ; please bring seda her siblings ! ), she could have conflicting or positive relationships with characters from dorne, the reach or the crownlands for various different reasons as seda is not the easiest person to get along with !
friends, others on the small council, enemies, allies, etc ⸻ : come chat with me !

location: brightwater keep, during a visit for the holiday season. set after the fight at the Hightower home.
@lucreziasredwyne
the echoes of his former bastard self lingered, a subtle residue that clung to him at unexpected moments. even when he wasn't aware, remnants of old habits crept in, remnants of a time when formality and the expectations of nobility were still learning to coexist with the bastard boy he once was. harlon found himself relaxing himself when around his friends and his new family. the new him for what he was, what he had been when he was a boy. the kid who tagged along with everyone else. the young man who was told by his “father” he could not come home to hornhill right away after the summers and who was allowed to stay longer at the arbor. if it had been anyone else harlon might have shrunken away from embarrassment at being so rejected by his own “father” but not with lu and not with lady redwyne who made him feel welcomed and not a burden.
lu had been like a sister to him during those times. sometimes the most annoying little sister he could ever imagine but still a strange feeling of family he was not used to. and now somehow it felt like a miracle they had become actual family.
seated beside his goodsister, harlon flashed a comforting smile at her. "lucie, i have to admit, you seem... i don’t know, distracted? that doesn't seem like the right word, but it’s something." he observed, his eyes scanning her face for any signs of concern, adopting the role of an older brother, watchful and concerned for the well-being of his family. “what is going on?”

Sam of the Horn
If you look at the background of the Tarly family, and their castle, Horn Hill, it turns out that there are some very unique features.
The Progenitors
The female progenitor of the Tarlys was a woods witch. She is never named & she would fuck two Tarly brothers every full moon. These two brothers were very different. One, Harlon the Hunter was a hunter. The other, Herndon, was not - he was called "Herdon of the Horn".
The Tarlys Today
Samwell Tarly is the descendant of two twin brothers with two very different skill sets, plus a magical woman (or COTF?). Somehow, the Tarlys have a Valyrian steel sword, the greatsword Heartsbane. This is an important, almost mythical Reach family.
Randyll Tarly clearly takes after his ancestor Harlon the Hunter. First, he is a hunter, one of renown, & a great general.
Sam's younger brother Dickon would also appear to follow his ancestor Harlon. Like his father, and like Harlon, he is a Hunter.
Sam, however, seems to be cut from different cloth. Randall is deeply disappointed in his lack of martial prowess. But he is strong in his own ways, as we see throughout the books. It may be that he just inherited another side of the Tarly family - perhaps Sam is "of the Horn"?.
Tarly Sigil
It's clear even from the Tarly sigil that the hunter side of the family is dominant, but, if you look closely at the Tarly sigil, you'll see that the hunter has a horn at the ready.
The horn side of the family, from Herndon of the Horn, while overlooked, is very important. It's called HORN Hill after all.
Three Horns
In the story there are 3 important horns: Dragonbinder, Mance's horn burned by Mel, & the Horn of Joramun (or Horn of Winter). Of the three, the most important is the Horn of Joramun (HOJ). Blowing the horn "woke the giants from the earth." Damn!
So the HOJ is damn powerful. It may even bring down the wall. So, Mel wants to destroy it. And she thinks she did, but I don't.
Most readers don't, I'd say. The consensus opinion (FWIW) is that the Horn of Joramun is a broken horn found by Jon and Ghost.
Jon and Ghost found the HOJ north of the wall near the Fist of the First Men. Eventually-importantly-it was given to Samwell Tarly.
When Sam is sent south to Oldtown (100 leagues from Horn Hill; which is close in ASOIAF), he still has the broken horn.
Sam's role
Samwell is "of the Horn". He is not a hunter, clearly, so he does not follow Harlon. He is of Herndon.
A descendant of a magical family, with two distinct sides/natures, one of which is "of the Horn", now has a magical horn. Huh.
Even more interesting, Sam has been sent to Oldtown, an extremely interesting location with a lot of mystery and myth surrounding it. It sure looks to be a big part of TWOW and ADOS and the upcoming wars.
Now, if you subscribe to @PoorQuentyn 's Eldritch Apocalypse, you suspect that Euron will be attacking Oldtown. I agree with him there. And, the theory continues, while there, Euron might grab the Horn of Joramun and use it to bring down the wall. Well, I question that part.
If you read this Tumblr, you know I'm focused on the inspiration for the Gods of Terros. It's mostly Lovecraftian. I recently published a theory which posits that Euron is an avatar of Nyarlathotep What does this mean?
Well, it means that there is little need for Euron to bring down the Wall. He is going to summon the Lion of Night - Nyarlathotep again - to begin a new Long Night.
So why have Samwell of the Horn carry a magic horn from the Wall to Oldtown, if Euron won't use it? Who would use it then?
What character is directly associated with horns? What sort of magical person could weld the horn? And where would they use it?
Conclusions
To me, the answer is clear. It's Samwell Tarly -- Sam of the Horn -- that will use the Horn of Winter to wake giants from the Earth.
And the place where he blows the horn? What better place to blow the Horn of Winter than Horn Hill?
This combines the role of Sam, the supposed weakling who killed an Other, with his ancestral nature: Sam of the Horn.
Why does Samwell of the Horn blow the Horn of Joramun? Let's explore that quickly.
Sam's one special power is that he is a voracious reader. And now he is in the place with the most books in the world - the Citadel.
Once he tells Sarella and others about the Others, they will begin to research them in the libraries of the Citadel. Any scrape of forgotten knowledge that does not exist at the Wall will exist in the ancient books of the Citadel.
What if Sam finds out that the Others are a deeper mystery than first expected? What if he finds out truths about the Wall that turn everything about the mission of the Night's Watch around?

New Houses in the universe.
House Velaryon just moved in next to Jon and Dany’s place. They live in the townhouse where the Starks lived before they returned North to Winterfell. A very attractive Valyrian bunch.
Next we have the Tarlys. Randall, Melessa, Tarla, Dickon, Samwell, Gilly and Little Sam.
So HornHill on GOT reminds me of a Roman Villa which made me to get this lot for them.
Then we have the Mormonts
Jorah is a single Dad now after his wife Lynesse left him and his daughter. So he lives in Bear Island with his Dad Joer, his Aunt Maege and cousin Lyanna. A very decent bunch. Can be rather abrupt. They definitely do not like Southern outsiders poking around.
Also we have the two scheming opportunists of GOT here
Varys and Littlefinger. Roommates now stuck with each other, living under the same roof. All the best guys. Remember Chaos is a ladder.....

Dany/Jonerys Stans
At the end of S7
Lyannna Mormont is such a badass, she would surely be impressed by Dany since she doesn't knit things by the fire like Sansa
Arya Stark and Dany would be quick friends because of their mutual love for Jon and arya will accompany them both to KL since she will go wherever jon goes and Jon goes wherever Dany goes
Sam would be the one to deliver Jon/Dany's baby, it is known.
After the cast interviews and leaks
Lyannna Mormont has always been bitchy to everybody , i keep saying this for a long time. She and her 62 mormonts can all go and choke for all i care.
Arya?? We didn't expect this from you. You support Sansa over Dany, so be it. Good luck defending WF without the assistance of the golden couple!! Only then you will know how useless your sister is.
Sam, what is the matter with you? How dare you accuse Dany of murder. It is just your family, that means nothing. See, Gilly is with you. You can always start a new family with her. And tada !! You are the heir to hornhill now, so all is well, ryt?? I know you have a good natured heart and D&D are just trying to ruin your entire arc. Dont listen to them!

GOT spoilers
Whatever happened to Sam telling Gilly "from now on wherever I go, you go" is she just left at hornhill (maybe) with two babies while Sam fucked off to get some chains and serve bran. What the fucking fuck. Is Sam's sister lady of hornhill? And for that matter what happened to Jon saying "where will we go" why does Sansa keep ending up alone. Garbage!! And Gendrys none of it means anything without you. It all means nothing and the world will end with this generation because no one found love and none is going to make babies. I know I'm being dramatic and there's plenty of time for them to marry who the fuck ever, but I don't care it's trash

I find it funny how when they first met, Daenerys tried to gain Sansa's approval by complimenting her beauty like that would fix her intentions to destroy Northern Independence, something the Starks and the rest of the North fought and died for. And then she got this dumbass look because Sansa totally wasn't buying her pandering. She was coolly polite and couldn't be bothered with Barbecue Barbie's fake friendship. And it was totally fake because in her own words, D wants Sansa to kneel to her.
Right???? “I’m here to seize control of a kingdom that’s been fighting for years to gain independence. Don’t be sad you’re kind of pretty.” The lack of common sense jumped out. Who on earth would be moved by that? Seriously what person with the same amount of power Sansa has will hear that and think, “I guess having a new overlord won’t be that bad.” Dany was told repeatedly by Jon that no one wants her as queen and she knows it. “I hope I deserve it.” My ass.
Dany isn’t just being a brat to Sansa, she’s publicly threatening her too. Does she really think that her murdering the Tarlys and all those other men is going to stay quiet now that Sam knows? Also, she admitted that her dragons eat anything they want meaning they also eat humans that cross their path. Now, after being outed as a murderer, she’s going to start threatening the LoWF in her own home and expect everyone to be okay with that? Does she think Jon can protect her from Sansa’s allies?
She thinks she can operate like she did in Essos recklessly killing and threatening violence to whoever she wants but she’s dealing with the protagonists now. We’ve known Sam since season 1, we’ve watched him grow as a person. They literally showed us Sam in Hornhill with most of his family being decent people to him. Dany callously informing Sam that she killed his brother and making lame excuses backfired the way it wouldn’t have in Essos. Dany’s choices are what’s going to turn even more people against her, not her father’s actions or circumstances beyond her control, her actions and the way she treats people she thinks are beneath her is going to cause her downfall.
