Hi! The book you did for otnwas is SO BEAUTIFUL!! I was wondering if you have any tutorials on how do to your own book binding? I would love to turn my fave fanfics into real life books :DD

aww thank u so much !! i actually collated a few resources for my friends about bookbinding so u r in luck ⭐:)

but before all that, i want to mention the most important thing and it is to always get the permission of the author of the fic you're wanting to bind first and to never print any art related or not to that fic without the artist's permission !!!!! let's keep it respectful in these streets yeah? BUT printing your own art though.. that's a slay 🤞🏽

ok hehe to the fun stuff yippeeeee

bookbinding tools & materials (beginner friendly) - super helpful + in depth, i recommend starting with this one to really get a good idea of the entire process (she specializes in journals though so it doesn't include printing process or anything like that!)

14 helpful hints before getting started - very very useful hacks that will probably save you a lot of mistakes in the long run, also i love this man (one thing i have to mention though is that paper grain is not entirely important unless you're looking for a more advanced bind)

how to bind fanfic tiktok series - this is a good one that has a step by step guide which includes the typesetting + printing process

tutorial focused videos

DIY book press - very useful + efficient, but if you can't be bothered to make this (like me oops) you can just use really heavy books or weights

DIY binding cradle - essential tool to punch holes in your signatures, honestly saved me money and also my life, once again i love this man where would i be without this tutorial

french link stitch - easy to follow, has some good sewing tips too!

weaver’s knot - important hack, you don't want your thread to be too long when sewing it's a nightmare

hardcover case binding - good tutorial on hardcover but this one is flatback - it's still fine to follow though if you switch the spine to card stock to give it more flexibility especially if it's a thick book

whew, sorry for the long ask i hope this is helpful enough ;; another important thing is to be patient and have fun !! try to enjoy the process especially bc it takes SO long but trust it's very worth it <3 there's also a lot of materials and tools so pick whichever is the most accessible to you ok byeeee

i HATED the old one so much it was literally in two completely different styles both of which were horrendously out of date and missing a bunch of key details and UUUGH. i was so embarrassed to have it up and have people looking at it but this is SO MUCH BETTER. and hopefully it'll stick around for longer :)

#superhero oc #human oc #character design #hero oc #oc reference #reference sheet #ref sheet #original character #stanley does art #charlie grimms #HI I TALK A LOT BELOW THIS SO FEEL FREE TO SKIP IT ALL #tbh when i started working on this i just wanted a quick replacement for his old ref i wasnt expecting to go this far with it #but im glad i did bc again hopefully itll be accurate for longer #the old one had a mix of art from last april and october in it 💀 it was...not good #umm changes from that one to this one...well i transed his gender 👍#previously i was kinda waffling back n forth on it but like mannn why the hell not. im just gonna commit. gender is stored in the cowboy #updated the colors of his tattoos especially the snakes which used to be a much muddier looking black #this works a lot nicer with his overall color palette i think #earrings are now a pretty much permanent fixture bc ive been a lot more consistent with including them lately #included side views for his hair because everyone gets confused on it (I DONT BLAME THEM it is confusing)#im happy with it! it's a subtle difference that even i struggle w at times but his hair IS meant to be asymmetric #costume design didnt really change except i redid the tooling and noted that it is SUPER optional #i barely draw it if ever and it will never be the same thing twice tbh who give shit #ummm. last and most obvious change Yes He Got Bricked #part of it is subconscious to make him contrast more with alistaire who is a super twink #part of it is he was always meant to be kinda square shaped (evident in original design from 2018)#and part of it is I Learned Anatomy. this last one really did it tbh #but i like it i think he is fun to draw and having a specific body type for him really helps with consistency #also because it's funny that he objectively does not work as hard as he should for the amount of muscle that he has. like deadass #because of power fuckery and shit which i think is endlessly funny

Finished the outline for Act 1 of that speculative character study of a certain bitchy vampire and started chipping away at a first draft.

I'm liking the POV so far. We'll see if I can keep liking it enough to do a whole ass thing with it.

(warning: slight dubcon but it's mostly just confusion, some eating stuff + i take a lot of liberties here)

LMFAO YES THOUGH, barbarian!Bakugo acting so much like a feral (momma) cat trying to live in your house. Bringing you combinations of dead animals and foraged goodies, even if the animals are like... concerningly weird and strange (sometimes deer, rabbits, and birds... but also foxes, wild pigs... skunk).

And what's funny is you try to get him to stop and explain that you're fine and you don't need his shit, but... he just DOESN'T believe you and continues bringing you stuff. No matter what.

Maybe cuz he's the village's best hunter but like... seeing that your cottage (?) isn't decorated in pelts and branches of herbs and drying meats 24/7 makes him soooo concerned. The first time he manages to bully his way through your door, he's sitting at your humble little eating table and just looking around... terribly grumpy while he unloads his pack.

(He's thinking about the fact that his future bride is probably starving, you're thinking that he's WEIRD).

And he can totally speak but... in my head I always imagine barbarian!Bakugo as super quiet, so it's not like he ever explains any of this to you, either. Just sort of... wedges his way into your life via brute force.

You see him at the market, haggling with the meat stall about how much he should be paid for his most recent hunt.. and the second he notices you without a fur pelt on, just like... rushes over to throw his own over your head. You try to stop him and shove his arms off of and he's just blocking your way until you keep it on.

And he's always like... coming over and skinning animals right there in your yard, salting them and everything and leaving them out to dry as though you don't have your own curing processes going on. Probably even takes off his furs and just does it in his loincloth, too. You can't even ask him what's going on without having to bear witness to all... that. All the girls who live next to you flock to your fence to watch except he just keeps glancing at you to see if you’re looking.

(It's also funny cuz after, he always waits for you to eat, too. Won't leave until he sees at least something go into your mouth... and when he does, sits there until you to tell him the cut of it was good, or the seasonings were right. Literally with his ears perked up and eyes all wide.)

It's probably not until the your country's yearly courting festival that you realize his goal. It's kind of a big deal for your village mostly cuz everyone is expecting Bakugo to like... compete for another nation's princess... but nah. The second all the eligible men are allowed to ask for someone's hand in marriage, he's running right for you.

(And the same stuff still happens, skunks and all, just... now you're officially engaged LMFAOOOO.)
