Hope on the Street (album) is a funky bop. It's honestly much more up my alley than JITB and Hobi did something different with his music again. I admire his songwriting skills (haven't checked out the lyrics though). I'll say this again, I appreciate how unique his tone is and that he is super skilled, but the only minus in the album for me, besides being very short, is his tone at times. It's a bit hard to digest for me.

Anyway, some thoughts on the songs:

on the street (solo) - this song is super pretty. I never loved how long J. Cole's parts were (or some of the religious lyrics). Hobi's tone in the rap parts is a bit of a miss for me, but I liked his verses. The song is really great. It made me cry a bit. "As always for us".... Bring them back!!! 9.5/10

i wonder... - Hobi's verses are okay (I feel bad for saying this, because he obviously produced the entire album, which is amazing, and he's such a skilled rapper). Jungkook sounds so beautiful, my baby... It made me a bit emotional. The song is too short!! It needed another chorus and verse. But it's very sweet and sentimental, a perfect follow up to OTS. It's the most sentimental track along with On the street and NEURON. OTS is nostalgic and a bit sad, while i wonder... is nostalgic but more hopeful, like equal sign (=). Jungkook's presence definitely makes it more emotional. 9/10 (10/10 for Jungkook, but the song is too short!! It feels incomplete, sadly.)

lock/unlock - apparently Benny Blanco is a creep, but the song is a bop. Really liked it. It's a bit too repetitive and safe to be rated higher. 8.5/10

i don't know - another bop. Yunjin killed it (this is the best I've ever heard her sound, probably - she really fits this genre and gets to show off her vocals really well). I just love this disco sound, it's really up my alley... I love how Hobi and Yunjin's voices combine. Hobi's voice sounds the best in this track imo. I also like how the track is longer and feels more complete. 8.8/10 (better than the previous track but still too safe compared to some other songs in the album)

what if (dance mix) - I like this version better than the original. The mix is nice and the other guy's vocals give it a classy, smooth touch - it contrasts well with the "roughness" of the song. But the lyrics are... To me, they're a bit cheesy and almost insensitive. But, it's still a good song. The instrumentals to all these songs are fire. 8.8/10 (definitely bonus points for originality and impact - it sticks with you more than the two previous tracks - minus points for lyrics).

NEURON - I like the choir chorus a lot. The other guy's rap is good, and I adore how the woman sounds (kinda old-school). The song just feels kinda epic and emotional, I love it. 9.5/10

I feel like I could give a lot of these songs a 10/10, but they didn't strike an emotional chord for me, I guess.

The album's so short! But it's definitely a good album. J-Hope is a great artist. He did something different and picked the collabs really well. It's a bit too short to be truly great. It's a clever, fun, easy listen.
