Things I want from a HM:DS/DS Cute Remake
Almost all the game mechanics to be the same. Please do not make it easier on us. I want it to be the same insanity of the first one.
I want to have to make calls to order things! I want tv channels to be locked to harvest spirits!
I want to have risks if I build coops/barns out of fodder (😂) or wood!
The one exception to changing nothing being the 3x3 crop issue of the middle being un reachable. They fixed that in SoS: Friends of Mineral Town and that fix should stay.
In terms of adding things maybe let us leave during storms and risk passing out randomly.
Let us leave the valley at sone point as extra content. And maybe adding a house for Skye that you can go to once you can leave the valley.
If they remove the Mineral Town characters being romancable if you have a file for the other game I would riot. That needs to remain, part of the games charm is that there are 14 girls (with the Mineral Town cast) and 11 boys (12 if you include the very hidden Mason). Aka a ridiculous number of options!
This game has an insane number of marriage candidates. They better all return for both genders. If they add any they should add more male special romance options since DS Cute only has Skye (and I do love him but let's even it out some); and the secret addition of Mason.
They should add more to Mason, he's great and deserves better!
More heart events. I want more of them, please!
And I know they will probably remove these cause they don't do them anymore but I want the rival heart events and marriages to stay! Let them be happy together! In order for them to get together in the original game you have to actively make it happen over 4 years! It's so easy to avoid if you don't want it!
Add additional dialouge about the blue feather based on heart level! They currently have one dialogue that doesn't change until you reach a red heart! Add more!
Skye should have more theift events. And maybe even be able to randomly send a note about him stealing from the player if not close enough friends after his first event! Make him seem more like a theif "terrorizing" the valley!
In fact let him join in on some festivals in a disguise that does a poor job hiding who he is!
This game already had a bunch of events but let's add more!
Make the beginning of the game either random if it's the boy or girl opening, or just choose the boy opening. Don't make only the girls be called lazy!
I would love for them to make it multi-player but I know thats an impossible hope.
Overall I'm obsessed with this game and want a remake so, so bad! Marvelous please!!

no one asked for this and I’m sure none of my followers care but here’s my opinions on the AWL remake character designs that that been revealed so far
First of all. I’m so fucking pumped for it.
I’ve never played AWL but I played the shit out of HMDS and HMDS cute so I love the Forget-Me-Not Valley folks. HMDS was actually my first harvest moon game so I have a lot of nostalgia for the setting and characters. It’s been too long since we’ve seen them and I’m so happy they’re back.
Okay. Here we go.
Nina
She looks the same! She’s so cute as always. I love Nina, her design is literally perfect I would not change a thing, peak character design right here. 10/10
Vesta
Her apron is gone! And she’s wearing a vest! Maybe I’m biased because I LOVE vesta, but I think she looks great. I do think it’s interesting they yass-ified cody, but Vesta didn’t get the same treatment. Not that it’s a bad thing, in fact I’d prefer it if Cody kept his old design. But it goes to show that strong, masculine characters do fit with the new Story of Seasons art style, so I’m not sure why Cody’s a twink now. More on him later though. 10/10
Chris
PANTS! While I do miss her pencil skirt, the pantsuit is cute. I love her tie. Chris reminds me a lot of my mom (they even have the same name) and she dresses just like her. Which is weird because they have totally different jobs. iirc, chris is a sports reporter/commentator which I think she conveys a lot more in the new design than the old one. She looks more athletic while still looking very professional. Her old design was more like a secretary or office worker or teacher. 10/10
Wally
HE’S WEARING SOME TIGHT ASS PANTS. And for what? I mean, they’re probably more practical to run in, but geez it’s funny to me. He’s rocking them though, can’t complain. 9/10
Hugh
Okay, this is the first design choice so far I take issue with. He’s wearing the same clothes as his old design, but something is off. Hugh was a lot chubbier in his older design. I miss his baby fat :( it was cute! And it also gave him a little bit more character, almost like he’s working out all the time to get slim like his dad. I miss his clumsy, dopey look. 6/10
Galen
This is another one I have a problem with. He looks exactly the same, which is fine. But they toned down cartoonish aspects of all the other characters (Marlin’s hunch, Gustafa’a nose) and didn’t do this with Galen. He looks extremely out of place. I think the best choice with him would be to give him a more realistic head shape and nose, just so he could fit in standing next to everyone else. He seriously looks like he walked out of a completely different video game. This wasn’t a problem in the original since everyone else looked super stylized then, too, but now he sticks out like a sore thumb. 4/10
Mukumuku
They gave him a bow :) I love it, literally perfect. He is an angel, I’m obsessed. I love his cute little bow. 11/10
Marlin
I like Marlin’s redesign! I always thought the Elvis look was charming, and Marlin was my bachelor of choice in HMDS cute because I thought he was so handsome. I like that they kept his grumpy resting face and his weirdly shaped eyebrows. I also like that he’s still got a hunch, but it’s less stylized and more realistic now. He looks more put together now, which I like, while still looking like he could be a farmer. My only complaint (and it’s a pretty big one) is… WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS CURLY HAIR. Why did they do him like that? I loved his curls!!! And now it’s brown instead of black?? That’s so weird to me. Mainly though it’s the curls. I miss his curls. Give him his curls back. Please, god. 7/10
Muffy
Muffy looks the same, except for some minor detailing on her dress. I always thought her original design kinda looked like she was wearing lingerie, LMFAO. I mean look at it, that’s a slip from Victoria’s Secret.
The new dress is a welcome change, and the cardigan she’s wearing looks more comfortable. I really REALLY like her new design. Muffy was my bachelorette of choice in HMDS, so again, maybe I’m biased. 10/10
Lumina
Well, she definitely looks older and more age appropriate. I do think it’s interesting they went with her child design as her initial look rather than her dress. If it was my choice, I would have started her in her dress and completely gotten rid of the school-uniform-looking outfit she starts the game in. It’s just a weird decision to me, but like I said, she still looks older now. 9/10
Nami
I’m gay. I love women. That’s all.
Okay but for real I’m so glad they got rid of her vest. It was SO UGLY, I hated it so much. She is so cute in the redesign. I think she looks so much better now. 11/10
Rock
I really like Rock’s redesign! The new art style really suits him. He didn’t change much clothing-wise (though I do like that his pants come in at the legs now) but I think he looks so much better with more realistic body proportions. I love it! Wouldn’t change a thing. 10/10
Gustafa
I… REALLY LIKE IT. I know I’m in the minority here but I LOVE his redesign. He is so cute. I think a lot of people dislike it because he looks so different in this art style, but really, his key features are the same. He’s wearing the same clothes, has the same hair, same face, etc. The only thing that’s really MISSING is his beard, witch hat, and his giant nose. He still has a pretty big nose, but now it’s, like, actually human sized. I can understand getting upset that he’s missing his beard, but I think he looks charming with stubble. Also, I like his bucket hat a lot. Honestly I love this redesign so much, I think it’s my favorite. If you ask me, this is how you redesign a character. 14/10

Then there’s the name changes. To put it bluntly, I don’t give a fuck. Molly or Muffy, Matthew or Marlin, they’re still the same characters. Like who cares, man? I only mention this because I’ve been seeing so many people complaining about it.

Hi, I've seen you're still doing the character breakdown thing and wondered if you could do one with Nami from AWL/HM DS? :)
Ah, Nami, our soft-spoken wanderer. She’s often found in nature contemplating various things and her past is a bit of a mystery. She’s a very curious character and I’m really fond of her.
How I feel about this character:
My first exposure to Nami was in Harvest Moon DS. She struck me as quiet, thoughtful, and a little lonely. I was also a little intimidated by her because she was much more blunt than the other female characters in general. I really like her and think that she’s an interesting character with a lot of potential for an extended backstory. I think that wanderer characters would have some fascinating stories. I’ve yet to finish wooing her on my file, but she’s probably one of my favorite girls in Forget-Me-Not Valley, if not my favorite.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Nami x Farmer: I feel like Nami would adjust well to farm life. She asks the player character about the farm and enjoys the tranquility of it. Although she doesn’t really help with farm chores in game, I can easily imagine her wanting to be part of it all, eager to give it a try. She admires the farmer for their independence and their ability to be self-sufficient.
Nami x Muffy: Nami frequenting the bar, Muffy’s disappointment with men that always let her down… Ah, I can imagine an angsty fic where the two fall in love without realizing it and Muffy chases after Nami after she runs out of money and has to leave town.
Nami x Rock: Okay, hear me out, lol. They spend a lot of time together at the inn. I think that they could teach each other important lessons about taking responsibility and opening up to others. I could see Ruby being really happy with this arrangement, as I feel she really sees Nami as a daughter. It could be one of those cases where opposites attract. At the very least, it would be really interesting.
Nami x Cody: They both have inquiring minds and creative sides. I feel like Nami would be really intrigued by Cody’s art and maybe even get involved in creating her own. It would be really cute if she moved in with him and they had a studio together, creating their own works and maybe even some collaborations.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Nami/Gustafa: I feel like these two have good chemistry and would be great friends. They both have wonder for the world around them and want to wander and explore. I think they’d have interesting stories to tell each other.
Nami/Griffin: As a regular at the bar, Nami and Griffin would definitely be seeing each other a lot. I can see Griffin giving Nami advice when she asks for it and him being a sort of mentor for her. Meanwhile, I think Nami’s curiosity about the world in general would make for some good conversations.
Nami/Ruby: I can easily see Ruby taking Nami in as a daughter. The two get along very well, and Nami is much more grateful for the things Ruby does than her own son. I can see Nami helping around the inn to earn a little extra money and Ruby giving her free dinners to her favorite tenant.
Nami/Marlin: These two could easily be drinking buddies, venting about their days and just having lots of comfortable silence between the two of them.
Nami/Takakura: I feel like these two would be good friends, especially if Nami marries the farmer and lives on the property. I could imagine Takakura teaching her all about animal care and Nami being fascinated by it. I imagine the bond being a bit of a father/daughter one.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I’m going to duck and cover as I say this, but I feel like Nami x Gustafa feels forced in the games. Gustafa seems perfectly happy doing his own thing, and while I feel that they could spend some quality time together, I have a hard time imagining it as romantic. Honestly, I think Cody would be a much better partner for her. Gustafa and Cody do have similar qualities such as creativity and a pure wonder when it comes to appreciating the world around them, but Cody is a little more introverted and soft spoken.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I really liked Nami’s interactions with Ruby at the inn, and I was hoping that her and Rock would become closer and be good influences on each other. Now, before you ask me how Rock can be a good influence on anyone, he can teach her that it’s okay to rely on people sometimes, and also how to speak up for herself and have more confidence in general. I feel like her independence can also be a good thing, though, and she’d have a lot to teach Rock, including gratitude for what you are given. I really like the idea of Ruby, Rock, Tim, and Nami as a family unit.
I’d also love more backstory on Nami’s family. Nami mentions her father, but it’s hard to tell what he’s like other than he wasn’t happy about her leaving and could possibly be worried about her. It does give a little more wiggle room when it comes to writing fanfiction for her, but in game it feels like a lingering mystery.

The only unfortunate thing about Wonderful Life getting a remake is that it reduces the chances of HMDS/Cute getting a remake anytime soon, and I would genuinely like to see what it’d be like with fewer glitches.
Sure, I might not be able to unlock the hot springs week two or sooner anymore, but also my saves hopefully wouldn’t get corrupted within the first month again, and I feel like that’s the more important thing here. The second save slot should be its own thing, not my backup save.
