Imagine Aziraphale and Crowley trying to save the world. They keep on getting attacked but keep on trying anyway. And we have Crowley who has his demonic powers and maybe part of him never let it all out because Aziraphale always reminded him of being a demon, so it held him back to not hear even more about it.

And then comes a day when he holds Aziraphale, wings covering them, to shield Aziraphale from the fire. And it keeps on coming and he could lash out to push their enemies away, but he knows Aziraphale will throw it back in his face one day. But the strain is starting to hurt Crowley too. And they’re not stopping.

But then Aziraphale touches his cheeks, and he’s angry, he’s actually angry at what they’re doing to them. He can see Crowley holding back for his sake. He knows why. So he tells him to attack back.

“Give. Them. Hell.”

And Crowley does.

crowley, frustrated: okay, I’m sick of this, angel.

aziraphale: shh *glances at the back room* keep your voice down.

crowley, whispering: we haven’t been alone in such a long time. every time we try...he’s always there.

aziraphale, sighs: yes, I’ll admit it’s becoming...suffocating...

crowley: let’s go somewhere. without him.

aziraphale: we can’t do that *pauses* can we?

crowley: yes! just tell him you’re going out. I’ll handle everything else.

aziraphale, smiles: okay, that sounds wonderful.

crowley, pleased: great. I’ll send a message *leaves*

-one hour later-

aziraphale, reading a note: lunch at the ritz. half an hour. c

gabriel, appears behind him: secret admirer, huh?

aziraphale, jumps: what? n-no *screws up the note* um, I’ve just remembered, I have to go out actually.

gabriel, smirking: uh-huh...

aziraphale, waves a hand: completely unrelated.

-later, the ritz-

aziraphale, raises an eyebrow: this is your ideal location for a clandestine rendezvous?

crowley, shrugs: it’s worked for us in the past.

aziraphale, nods: I don’t mind. it’s just nice to finally be alone.

crowley: yeah *pauses* angel-?

gabriel: room for one more?

aziraphale, startled, lets go of crowley’s hand: what are you doing here?

gabriel, oblivious: I followed you. thought you could use some company.

crowley, glaring: great.

gabriel, pouring himself a glass of wine: I’ve been wondering why you guys have been raving about this place.

aziraphale & crowley: *glance at each other sympathetically*

-the next day, st. james’ park-

crowley: *tossing seed to the ducks*

aziraphale: *approaching*

crowley, apprehensive: well?

aziraphale, happily: I sent him on a wild goose chase. he’s gone to collect some books that don’t exist. we should have several hours to ourselves.

crowley, relieved: good *clears his throat* uh, I’ve missed you.

aziraphale, smiling: I’ve missed you, too *feeding the ducks* it’s been a while since we’ve been here.

crowley, nods: just the two of us.

gabriel, chirpily: yeah, it’s great.

aziraphale & crowley: ...

so we have all heard the theory that crowley gets freckles (angels kisses) from aziraphale kissing him. however I would like to add the idea that since we know that they hadn't actually kissed prior to The kiss, that crowley does still have freckles in certain areas, places that aziraphale thinks about kissing him, dreams about even, fantasises about in some cases.

It started in 1941 as it goes, after crowley saved his books, god every part of him wanted to kiss his face all over just as he saw many couples do in surprising, romantic circumstances, so much so that when he looked back at crowley he was absolutely covered in freckles, they really suited his hair colour, made him fit in more, but when crowley saw them in the mirror, rightly so he was shocked, sneaky angel though, told a wee lie, not really a lie he would tell himself, merely a suggestion as to where the freckles may have came from, "maybe a reaction to the church?" he offered, crowley seemed to accept that theory but he had never traced his cheeks with his fingers more that evening

then it became a habit, after dining out somewhere, watching crowley smile at him in such a meaningful way, he'd get a dusting of freckles littering his cheeks, crowley rarely realised when it happened, only as he caught it in the mirror in his car or the faded remnants in his apartment, but for some reason every time they appeared his chest would go all warm, and he'd find himself smiling more, and when he saw the evidence it made him even happier for some reason, he didn't know why he was breaking out like this so much, but it wasn't a bad thing that's for sure

aziraphale also noticed, he found it majorly embarrassing. like he was showing his heart on his sleeve, once in his library crowley handed him a cup of tea and he is so unmanaged that he even ended up covering his hand in freckles, crowley noticed it and much to his surprise he actually grinned, running his other hand over it, when he actually looked back up at him it was his turn to blush

"i'm- sorry, i'm not sure why, but for awhile now i have been like randomly getting these, marks, all over me. i don't actually know why, but they often end up making me smile, im not sure why" crowley admitted drowning himself in his own tea, but while aziraphale was happy with crowleys ignorance to his whole part in it, he was equally flustered by how, happy, it made him, considering how pretty he was when he had freckles, it was certainly a plus, crowley went home absolutely covered in them
