Entry 2: Exploration of a Negative Situation of a Sports Venue
In 2019, Marvel Stadium opened its sensory room, a designated space for people who need a “quieter and more secure environment” (Marvel Stadium, 2019).  This room was the first in a stadium in Melbourne and required staff to undergo training – resulting in the stadium becoming an accredited sensory venue (Marvel Stadium, 2019). Part of the training included recognising guests that had need for the room, and how to handle sensory overload situations as they arise (Marvel Stadium, 2019). The room (See Figure 3) was opened to promote and accommodate guests that had sensory issues (Marvel Stadium, 2019), and was designed by medical professionals.

In 2023, while attending the Harry Styles Love On Tour concert, actor and disability activist Chloe Hayden was denied access to the stadium. She accused the stadium of ableism (Sum, 2023), and spoke of her experience on social media. On Twitter (See Figure 4), she said that she was denied access as she didn’t “look autistic enough” (Hayden, 2023), and that other people had experienced similar ableism behaviour such as having their diagnosis papers, fat shaming, no wheelchair accommodation and being laughed out whilst experiencing a melt down. She went on to state that she “received over 50 messages from people who were denied access and support, humiliated, and hurt thanks to Marvel Stadiums ableism and discrimination. Please know I’m doing everything in my power to fix this. I am starting and ensuring conversations are had. Enough is enough” (Hayden, 2023). A representative of the stadium responded saying it was disappointing to hear of these experiences, stating that the sensory room was at capacity both nights (Watson, 2023). Another sensory room will be built to reflect demand, and staff will receive additional training (Watson, 2023).

Sensory rooms have been proven to be beneficial for those who require spaces to process sensory overload, especially in loud environments (Mills et al., 2023). They are used as “calming spaces” (Kothari & Seruya, 2020) and have been built in various environments (Mills et al., 2023) to support those who benefit from their use. Research has indicated that the benefits from using sensory rooms range from “improvements in adaptive functioning, maladaptive behaviour and daily interactions” (Mills et al., 2023, p 2). With an additional sensory room being added to Marvel Stadium and staff receiving additional training, situations like Chloe Hayden’s should, and can be, avoidable in the future.

Okay, one (1) slaughterhouse had an outbreak of coronavirus, therefore eating meat is a threat to public health? You realize most slaughterhouses are actually really clean, yes? At least in the United States, the USDA has really strict guidelines both for keeping slaughterhouses clean, and preventing animal cruelty. Meat is absolutely not the problem here. I'm willing to cite sources if you wish.
thanks, i got my own sources
Coronavirus at Smithfield pork plant: The untold story of America's biggest outbreak
Hundreds of people working at abattoirs across Germany and France have tested positive for Covid-19 in recent weeks.
COVID-19 outbreak in Alberta linked to slaughterhouse
US coronavirus hotspots linked to meat processing plants
even apart from corona, slaughterhouses have some of the worst working conditions in high income countries.
America's Largest Meat Producer Averages One Amputation Per Month
here’s an oxfam report on people working in poultry plants in the usa and the horrible working conditions they eperience
also some examples for diseases suspected or known to have originated from eating meat or keeping livestock: spanish flu (suspected, deadliest disease in human history), ebola, salmonellosis, swine flu, brid flu, BSE, SARS, 2019-nCoV.
then there is the growing antibiotic resistance, which is a huge public health risk  to which animal agriculture and eating meat contribute in a massive, preventable way
we could also talk about climate change, which is a huge threat to human health and to which animal agriculture contributes in a massive way, but i think this might be enough for now
lastly, you cannot slaughter an animal without cruelty. killing an animal that does not want to die for a temporary senory pleasure (aka your tastebuds) is always cruel. and the way it is done in most slaughterhouses is especially cruel. here is a washington post article about it

Explaining Tourettes
I'm a drinker. So I drink beer or straight liquor. No girlie drinks for me on my tab unless someone is paying for it. Unless I'm sick, I don't say no to a free drink. Thats sacrilege to me. I used to drink wine. Actually I still do but at home. It's been a while though.
Anyway so when I drink a lot, my tourettes acts up. It's 😳 embarrassing so I guess get it out of the way when socializing drunk as can be, "Yeah so I have tourettes thats why it looks like for a second I'm possessed" or, "I'm not crazy, I just have tourettes". I've gotten self-conscious since my tics have been getting worse especially when I'm drunk now.
No, it's not tardive diskenesia!
Or whatever how you fucking spell that shit. I happen to be one of the rare lucky ones that develop AFTER the age of 18. Maybe it had gone unnoticed. I don't care, it doesn't change the fact I have bouts of uncontrollable jerkings. Not the fun kind. The embarrassing kind.
TD happens when you've been on high amounts of antidepressants or antipsychotics for years. I had not grown the balls to see a psychologist until I was 21 or 22. Grew up seeing all kinds of specialists because of my slowness, selective mutism, speech therapy or pathology, and special ED. Fun fucking stuff. I suggest everyone go through the fuckery. It's made me hate therapists. 😒 They all irritate me. They are either too fucking soft or too fucking bitchy. Never a happy medium. I like to be told the truth but don't belittle me or make me feel small, fuckasses. I'm cursing a lot today. Don't fucking know why...🤔
People seem to be sympathetic at least to my face.
I wonder if it's because I'm female? No fucking idea. Anyway people creep me out. They are so hard to understand so I try to not give a fuck. I was having a slow day. Sometimes under lots of anxiety, I slow down so it appears I'm stoned but I'm just kind of checked out. So some douche-cunt-nozel was talking some sbit about how retarded I am. Since I was not on my A-game I just let his fuckass walk past me like he needed to shit. It's just an example. Sometimes it's senory overload that causes me to shutdown. 🤷‍♀️ I feel like anxiety and sensory overload are basically the same thing.
Today we watched a very interesting show on Netflix. Towards the end it made me feel like I could relate. It's trippy and weird. It's called Russian Doll. Towards the end of the 1st season the Character Nadiya and I have a lot in common. Everything down to the partying, hookups, cursing and fuck-it attitude. She reminded me of the me in my early 20s and even in some ways now, but a little more conservative. I don't want to spoil it but it reminded me of what I would do for Erik.
😘💕 Good night!

@felandaristhorns asked:  🧠🧠
For Every 🧠 I Receive I Will Reveal One Fact About My Muse
Due in a large part to his ADHD, Haurchefant’s senory inputs are often Different to others. He’s very sensitive to both tactile and auditory inputs. As such he doesn’t have much difficulty in auditory processing so much as he can hear small sounds from quite far away at most times if he’s not actively paying attention to something else and/or blocking it out. This, perhaps, plays a large factor in why Haurchefant sleeps better next to Steph than anywhere else (coupled, of course, with the sense of safety that allows him to fall deeper into sleep)
Haurchefant is very devout in his faith for all, even before the truth about the war comes out, he’s far more open minded and forgiving than one might expect of the knight born and raised in a high house, even if he is a bastard. However, some of his favorite things are how his and Steph’s kinks can run very close to heresy. He knows they’re both devout and loyal to Ishgard, so seeing Steph react to comments on his devotion to Haurchefant, or Haurchefant getting absolutely lost in hand kink or body worship (which, granted, nowhere near as damning here as it would be in, like, Christianity) are his favorite things. He finds he unexpectedly likes toeing the line when he knows neither he not Steph will cross it.

Artist: unkown While Tel Aviv’s cafes are often the sites of progression, modernization and social activities, they are also often, and unfortunately, the site of terrorist attacks. Tel Aviv’s citizens cannot escape the horrors of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, even in places of leisure. For example, in March of 1997, a suicide bomber killed three young women and injured 48 people at the entrance of a cafe on the corner of Ben-Gurion Boulevard and Adam Hacohen Street (Maariv).
This black and white photograph pictures two Israelis sitting casually outside a café on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv in the mid-20th century. During the city’s transformation from a neighborhood to a large city, these outdoor cafes were “nodal points of urban culture” and produced a lot of noise on the city streets (Azaryahu 109). These cafes “infused dizengoff streets with glamour and fame” and contributed to the street’s “unique mix” of “sophisticated consumption opportunities and bohemian glamour, of commerce and pastime” (Azaryahu 108). As journalist Shimon Shamet states, “large coffee houses built in a most modern style with colorful furniture, almost all spilling out onto the sidewalk,” contributed to the sensorial identity of the city. The growing presence of cafes affected the senorial experiences of the city’s citizens. One observer stated that, “in the coffee shops, Tel Aviv’s high society rub shoulders with the gilded youth” (Azaryahu 109). Indeed, coffee shops do facilitate social conversations and gatherings, which produce noise.
According to a piece by the Indiana University Press, titled “Soundscapes of urban development: Tel-Aviv in the 1920s and 1930s,” Mayor Meir Dizengoff began to receive complaints from his citizens about the soundscape of his growing city. These complaints centered around, “moises from car horns, shouts of hawkers, music from cafe shops,” and other noises that “needlessly disturb many residents' well deserved daily rest.” These complaints signified that the city of Tel Aviv was approaching modernity and that industrial and commercial activity was occuring (“Soundscapes of”). After the end of World War One, Tel Aviv became the cultural center of Israel. It was the country’s hub for  art, popular culture, and leisure. As Jews fled the antisemitism of Europe, the population of Tel Aviv grew rapidly.
Scholar Michael Southworth states that a citizen’s experience of the city is “a crazy quilt of sense impressions each of which contributes to the total picture” (Malnar & Vodvarka 138). In this case, Tel Aviv’s “total picture,” is its growth as a city, which was influenced by Israeli citizens’ “Debates and conflicts over regulation and control of urban soundscapes.” Many of these citizens were immigrants from Eastern Europe who were unfamiliar with new noises that they were beginning to hear. These noises did not align with their values, and they believed that noises “violated norms of civilized behavior or proper modes of urban conduct (“Soundscapes of”).
