It’s been a minute, hasn’t it? But I’m back yet again. I haven’t really posted many of the pieces I built this year, so with tomorrow being December 1st here in the US, I’ll be posting a figure a day to show off all 32 pieces in the 2023 collection.
First up was a surprise piece I came up with while watching The Crow back in October. I haven’t tried my hand at building this amazing character since 2005, so it was high time to make a new version and he honestly came out beautifully.

Every once in a while i look for DC Metron stuff to buy. Its extremely limited, and ive held off on most.
I have the mattel signature collection figure that comes with the mobius chair. Holy grail item. Won the ebay auction for it in the middle of a costco.
I dont have the dc direct figure. Id prefer it out of packaging but with the stand, mostly bc im going to open it and i feel bad destroying the blister pack when there are collectors out there who want it in untouched condition. Not that id be selling mine, just id rather not hurt anything if i can avoid it.
I also dont have the heroclix figure and card. Would love to get those, and actually would love a whole little set of them. I havent bought it yet bc im afraid itll open the floodgates of little guys for me to buy.
Besides that theres an impel trading card ive talked about before. Would be cool to have, especially with how much i love his facial expression on the back.
Um thats it for merch afaik.
There are books he's in like the dc rpg guides. I doubt theres more than a short blurb about him though bc i have seen some scans. But some of those books are kind of cool anyway and i am a sucker for coffee table books.
There are some artist sketch or ink prints out there. Thats kind of cool, but not necessarily something i need to own. Ive seen someone make an enamel pin design but its not available, idk if it will be. Um and ive made a shirt design on redbubble, which obviously i do have that.
There are in existence actual kirby pencils and other art, but whooo boy i think very few are for sale, and the ones that have been in the last two decades are a tiiiiiny bit out of my price range.
I think after that there are the single issue comics, and collections. I will admit ive looked at some graded new gods #1 issues before. They go for just about what id be willing to pay. While itd have a lot of cool factor, part of me really thinks comics grading is kind of lame bc you cant open the book to look at it. For cards it makes perfect sense bc you can see front and back. But comic books with pages? Yeah it just becomes a plastic case to look at the cover. Id really only have it as a status thing, which is not high on my priority list.
And that might be about it! If you know of any other Metron merch, let me know!!

One of the coolest spots to visit in Moncton
is of course Gamezilla. Now it has changed over the
years, when I first went to Gamezilla in the early
2000s it was a comic book/video game store
which I thought was awesome. I still have the first
things I ever bought there and over the years
with ever visit to Moncton it changed a little bit
and with this visit it was a completely different
store. It no longer does comics or video games
but mainly focuses now on table top games
(D&D, Warhammer, HeroClix) as well as
card games (Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic)
plus they do have some pop culture collectables
its nice what they did on the inside but
doesn't really have anything for me anymore
but if you are ever in Moncton and looking
for a awesome place to pick up anything you
need for your next tabletop RPG adventure,
or booster packs, tins or boxes of your favorite
card game then this is the place for you!!

Ah the 90’s, what a time to be a young comic book fan. And back in 1992, when Image Comics was founded, I was introduced to an entirely new pantheon of heroes and villains. One of my favorites, and one of the most brutal heroes of the time, was ShadowHawk, the spine breaker in an awesome suit of armor. Jim Valentino’s work was unique, even if his artwork was nowhere near as detailed as his constituents, but it didn’t matter. 6-year old Stormie couldn’t get enough of Paul Johnstone and his war on crime.
ShadowHawk was built using a Prowler from the Spider-Man & Venom Absolute Carnage Heroclix set. From there, the work began, sculpting the helmet, chest plate, glove straps, knee and elbow pads, shuriken, line launcher, and belt. Then I just had to find the right place to photograph the antihero, creating what is easily one of my favorite shots of the… jeez, 300 or so customs I’ve built? Even with the 2023 collection complete, the Image Comics set is far from done. This year I built the starting lineup, next year? Who knows what I’ll come up with.

OK, was anybody going to tell me that mostly-forgotten Godzilla foe Dr. Demonicus had a Heroclix figure, or was I just supposed to run across it at a game store myself?
