Me, to my new date: doctor who thinks it's a sci-fi story because the Doctor thinks it's a sci-fi story and because the companions think it's a sci-fi story, but it's really just a story about ghosts. a story about an ancient creature carrying the ghosts of everyone they have ever loved, meeting new people, and seeing them only as future ghosts. they are haunted by the future and the past and the present because they are the only constant in a world constantly in flux, and they are running as fast as they can to things before they burn and fade to dust but everything will always end, you understand, because this is the only thing the Doctor understands and yet they keep going. they love too much to stop. doctor who is not science-fiction, it's horror and optimism and spiritual more than anything else, it's religious unto itself, the TARDIS is a haunted house and a church and a graveyard and a hospital and the Doctor is the most haunted being in the universe but more than anything, this is a love story, because how can you love something without being haunted by it- hey, what are you doing?
My date, shoving breadsticks in their purse: I have to go-

idk if this is an unpopular opinion but i’ve read a few fics where cas says the angels fought in hell for forty years to raise dean and i just dont think that’s true. michael wanted the apocalypse to happen. cas says in on the head of a pin “When we discovered Lilith's plan for you, we laid siege to hell and we fought our way to get to you before you—” why would michael send the angels to hell to stop the righteous man from breaking the first seal if that’s what he wanted to happen? i think he waited until he knew it was too late and then he sent the angels to hell to raise his sword.

i have a maybe lukewarm maybe hot take about this godforsaken show that some people could find mean, but i stand behind it, no elaboration (okay, some elaboration in the tags below… a lot of elaboration)
opinion: if you claim to like clara’s dynamic with the doctor and her character development in series 8 and 9, but simultaneously say you hate the impossible girl arc/elevenclara, you don’t actually understand anything about their relationship and what makes it the way that it is

The switch up from people being Aziraphale haters to Crowley haters is WILD, it’s almost like both of them weren’t entirely considering how the other person felt and made decisions based on being right instead of being partners

calling it now: Vaggie is the third Carmilla Carmine daughter.
the fact they're mirrored in "Whatever It Takes" and share color palettes makes me think it's a very intentional choice. Vaggie defines "trust" as something forged in combat, and clearly has a militaristic background by the way she talks...like one might expect of a daughter of the leading arms dealer in Hell, perhaps. Vaggie also has a big reaction to learning the hotel has a shipment from Carmine, so I think there's a History there.
I'm not as sure about this theory, but I wonder if Vaggie actually killed the angel, and Carmilla witnessed/covered for her in some way. If Vaggie is her daughter and is estranged, she cannot protect Vaggie as directly as the other two- doubling her reluctance to go to war with Heaven despite the short-term profits.
either way, I'm interested to see how this season plays out!

I'm like 62% sure in episode 8 Angel is gonna jump in to save someone from an exterminator and get killed instead, and that sacrifice is gonna send him straight (lmao) to heaven, but his departure would send the hotel into chaos as he's the core and heart of the group, which would explain these:

sir pentious seems like the kinda guy who just dose what everyone else is doing like some sorta sponge. like in hell he was hedonistic and evil because everyone else was, not because he was himself those things.
anyways in heaven an angel is gonna tail him (If not sera than lute) trying to catch him sinning, to prove that he's not really a good guy, it's just a fluke or whatever and they just, get exacerbated because they can't catch hims sinning. he dosent even J walk and they are just driveing themselves insane trying to prove he's evil when like, no pentious is not evil, he just molds himself to fit whatever enviorment he is in despite what he really wants. (nature vs nurture if you will)

Could you tell us more about Haven and their life? Did they end up in the Dark Forest exclusively because they exterminated all the raccoons in the forest or is there more to it?
yes, Haven is a very silly beast! I actually recently made her a wife, Madronestar. She's the leader before Autumnstar, and is kind of a dipshit but its okay we love her anyway
Tumblr media
their relationship is like cartoonishly cute. Madrone is the adorable little housewife who puts homemade pies on her windowsill and Haven is the handsome rogue who cannot resist the allure of the freshly baked pie smell
I like to think this bothers Mr. Autumnfang who is the deputy at the time, seeing his leader goof off with a loner art below is by @notchaoticferal
Tumblr media
Haven was never part of Oceanclan, but she chases away/kills the raccoons because they were bothering her wife... who I think would be none the wiser about where the critters went.
Killing the raccoons is Haven's fatal flaw and it is why she's in hell. She's a nice cat, sure, but her reason for killing them weren't justified.
I imagine the situation went something like this; Oceanclan's population grew and so did the raccoon's, they started to compete for resources but since there was a language barrier (think like how the foxes have their own language!) communication was rough and they were in a sort of stalemate... Until Haven took matters into her own paws.
Personally speaking, I don't think anyone is beyond redemption and that eternal damnation is especially cruel. But at the same time, Haven hasn't yet made strides in the right direction to be earning a whole lot of sympathy from me. She's seen bragging about killing the raccoons in chapter 12, saying she's proud of what she did. They also did not provoke her, it wasn't self defense and it never came down to a "her or them" situation.
I don't think she hates raccoons as a species, just that specific group since in her eyes they weren't "strong enough" to take care of themselves and were stealing instead of finding their own food (idk if she fully grasped the situation) One of Haven's big flaws is that she does think less of those who are not as fortunate as her. I like to think its part of why she never joins the clan despite her lover literally being the leader. She wouldn't want to hunt and contribute to the clan. She would likely see elders and nursing queens are free-loaders unless they had a really good reason to not be out hunting. Haven's a very "fend for yourself" typa gal
Despite it all... I enjoy her character a lot and I hope she can get sent to rehab/therapy

Okay, I caved and downloaded Romance Club😭😭 Does anyone have any good story recommendations? I'm still gonna be on Choices and post Choices content (and finish off the books on my reading list). I just feel like I need to stop relying on one storytelling app
Ugh, this is such a weird feeling! It reminds me of when I switched from Episode to Choices and I had to acclimate to the better quality of stories imao. I just wanna ✨expose myself✨ to more interactive apps and since Storyscape or wtvr doesn't exist anymore this is the closest I can get

Kali: Call of Darkness: 9/10; love the MC, the characters, the story progression, the Dozen lore, replayability, etc. but gets a point off for its problematic depiction of Indian culture and Hinduism) tbh it deserves an extra point or two off because I despise the way Remy clearly wrote from a Eurocentric perspective, but this is also the first RC book I read after the slew of mid Choices books so I got attached unfortunately
Theodora: 9.6/10; I got the ending where I was only able to save my soul and it made me sad 😭 the story was well written but there were parts where I was just a lil bored. At least, that’s how I felt initially before I became obsessed with the book. It's objectively amazing etc. but I feel kinda robbed from screentime with the OG characters if that makes sense? Either way the writer did a great job writing them into the plot in later seasons and the MC is so amazing I love her <3 it’s not easy to write the progression of multiple relationships already but to have a different set of likable LIs every season is incredible!
Arcanum: 9.8/10; THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD omg I love how the plot came full circle and the MC was interesting and well-written (her character design was also top tier). It's such a unique concept for a book I love it. I feel like S3 could have gone by a lil quicker (along with a couple of other nitpicky things) but that could just be because S2 was so full of action
Heaven's Secret: 9.9/10; I just started its sequel, but I was pleasantly surprised at how engaging this book was! I like the gradual progression from being a new student to slowly learning the truth behind your death and about the academy. The final battle scene was super cool, and I feel like everything had a logical explanation (ex. Shepha only having power over light). I also like the different pathways of being an Angel, Demon, or Harmony Bearer (which I was!) it was really fun and seems like a replayable book <3

Sins of London: [review pending, check later]

There's this random question that occurred to me. But does Heaven have any access to Vox's shows and movies? Like, Adam was aware that Angel was a pornstar during Charlie's meeting in Heaven. Like, do Executioners bring stuff from Hell to Heaven? Such as an Executioner having a hidden DVD stash of Vox's TV dramas or something? Like, a guilty pleasure or something like that.
Oh absolutely. The one thing all humans have in common is the desire to be entertained. Do you think you’re gonna find quality trash tv in heaven? Moving stories with morally gray protagonists? Where the bad guys win? Gripping drama, both normal and melo??? Where sinners can learn and grow and change? In Heaven ????? I don’t think they’ve had an original thought since Eden.
it’s one of those things where nobody knows but everyone knows. it’s contraband plain and simple, because we can’t have winners acting like sinners are people, can we?
(funny moment: vocx, early in overlordom, gets cornered by like six exorcists. He thinks this is it. He’s not going out without a fight. The exorcists do a big scary speech, only for the leader to be like: now tell us sinner — are Raquel and Isabella endgame????
Vocx:
Vocx: I can’t give out spoilers. Sorry.
exorcists: boo, aw come on, the next season of The Devil You Know hasn’t finished airing yet and we can’t get it until next year!
vocx: (oh these are fans. I know how to deal with that!) That’s real rough. I know cliffhangers are a bitch.
exorcists: they are :(
Vocx: so how about you ladies and I make a deal?
so vocx walks out of that meeting not only with his life, but six mega fans that’ll steer their sisters away from voxtek buildings and people — can’t make new shit if Vocx is busy rebuilding after all.
in exchange the exorcists get a early release full box sett of the current season of The devil you know and Vocx’s signature.
vocx, afterwards, sitting at the bar, drunk as hell: I have no idea what the fuck just happened.
vocx: but I can never mention this to anyone ever. They’d never leave my house without a bodyguard again. )
