yes yes yes yes YESSS especially if it's at the beginning of you getting used to his presence and are still wary whenever he approaches you, so when he comes over and kneels in front of you one day you're understandably a bit scared- did you do something wrong? but Ajax just waits, completely still, until he eventually looks up with a whine and a saddened, pleading look on his face. slowly he wraps his claws around your wrist and brings it upwards, settling your hand into his fluffy hair. when you tentatively begin to run your fingers through the ginger locks, Ajax lets out a happy trill, purrs turning blissful when you move to scritch behind his horns

since then he's devised ways to make it clear he wants pets- either kneeling to your height, scooping you into his arms, or plopping his head on your lap all correlate with Ajax wanting attention, and even if you're not nearly as sweet and sunny as your previous life, you still love to silently pamper him with affection. it's your way to make up for having a colder, more closed-off personality, even if he doesn't seem to mind in the slightest. you both know when someone's had a bad day- if it's Ajax, he'll insistently push his head into your hands, whimpering until you shoo away his woes with gentle headpats; if it's you, you'll quietly wrap your arms around his torso or fiddle with his hands, idly admiring the way his talons flex and curl
