Genshin OC: Louis
Based on Interactions with @genshin-obsessed
And Pocket, in the original it was Signora who traumatized him sexually(I'm sorry if it offends you but I feel uncomfortable saying the r word), but I don't think she's that evil so in this fic it will be slightly different, but still as messed up.

Louis is an inventor from Fontaine, perhaps the brightest in all Teyvat. After unknown circumstances he was forced to flee Fontaine to Liyue, where unfortunate circumstances lead to him to meet Kazuha. Kazuha rescued him in his moment ot need, and inside of taking the life debt Louis offered the samurai merely took his friendship. Now he works as the fleets greatest engineer, repairing and upgrading the ships of the fleet with never before seen technology.
But one has to wonder, what ever caused him to leave Fontaine? And under what city did he meet Kazuha?

Both his arms are burnt all the way to his shoulder, so he hides them with finned gloves
(Also: I consider Kazuha to be an adult, so if you know about the shipping plan with the Interaction thing with Pocket it's not weird)
He has teal eyes, long silver hair, and a twirling pencil thin mustache.

The rise
Louis created his first groundbreaking invention at the mere age of six: a torch that ran on gas!
When he presented his invention it was met with grand....disdain.
People called it a scam, that what he said was impossible. He was laughed and ridiculed, to the point he disappeared from the public eye for many years.
Until fifteen years later.
At nineteen he skyrocketed into the market of invention, using something noone could dispute nor deny the grandeur of: he created a gun!
_____________________
To forge an empire
It was not easy to make it in the invention markets of Fontaine, even with patents one could not stop competitors from making their own form of their products.
So Louis had to be the best damn inventor of all of them! It was why he got his vision, his ambition, his soul demanded it!
And so he did. He hit every corner of the market with high quality inventions every week, from gas ovens to full plate armor, from fans that spun themselves to moving walls! It was once said in Fontaine that if someone wanted the very mountains to move at the push if a button, all they needed to do was pay Louis to make it.
Hundreds took their children to him to for apprenticeship, master craftsmen begged to work for the genius half their sons' age and twice their own skill. It wasn't long before his inventions were being sold by merchants all across Teyvat.

A defiled heart of glass
As happy and successful as Louis was, there was something he longed for, something no amount of ambition, success, nor money could ever get him: someone who truly cared for him.
He had believed this to be true for years, until one evening ball,
He met a woman.
She approached him as he sat surrounded, yet completley alone. She walked up to him and said, "you look lonely, would you like to go somewhere else?"
She said it without any ulterior motive, no sucking up, just a genuine want to hang out with HIM. No as Louis the inventor, but as Louis the man who enjoyed inventing.
They walked away from the party, saying to abyss with any who found it rude! And went around the town as two friends, absolutely enamored by eachother's hopes and dreams.
They were friends for five years when Louis finally confessed his love for her, how she would listen to him, and care about him, something he gave to her in equal share.
But a mere year into their relationships he found out his lover's secret: she was Fatui.
One night he found her coming home through the window, in her complete uniform no less. She was afraid, afraid he would leave her for what she was. But instead, all Louis did was wipe her tears and day, "how can I help?"
Do began his secret dealings with the Fatui. He used his bright mind to create countless machines of war for them to use, guns that did not need loading, gas powered suits of armor that gave strength well beyond that of a human, anything thr Tsarista wanted she would get. Because whatever the Tsarista wanted, his love wanted.
His darling love, Signora.
Or so he believed.
Ten years into the deal he was discovered by the Fontaine government and quickly proclaimed a terrorist. He had to flee Fontaine, so he went to where Signora was at the time, Liyue.
When he met her in Liyue he fully intended to propose to her, but when he got on one knee to do so, all he recieved was a sharp freeze through his chest.
And his glass heart shattered, on the stone cold ruins of an empire.
_____________________
Meeting the samurai(tw: this is where the bulk of the messed up happens)
A quick death, however, was not to be his end.
Signora hated him, despised him, for the time she "wasted on this useless, lovesick freak" as she put it.
So she let her mages do to him as they pleased, and left.
And they took full advantage.
They tortured him, violated him, broke him in every way they pleased.
They even convinced him that it was his fault, that he should enjoy what their doing, that he should thank them.
Then left him for dead.
For days he sat slumped on a stone pillar, riddled with holes, barely holding on to life.
'But why?' He had wondered. For he had believed their lies, that he deserved this fate, 'this is a fitting end.' He believed, a fallen emperor, dying on the long dead corpse of an equally grand empire to his own.
'So why?' he wondered, 'why do I keep fighting?'
Then one day a wandering samurai found him and took him in. Louis begged the man to let him die, "I deserve this. She said so...I deserve this....why else would she have done it?"
But the samurai did not falter, he carried the man to the nearest settlement to be healed.
When asked why, the samurai responded, "if you weren't so hurt, I would throw you on the wall and shout you down! WHAT IN THE ABYSS MAKES YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST GIVE UP!? BECAUSE SOMEONE SAID SO? BECAUSE SOMEONE GOT UPSET WITH YOU? SO WHAT!?" The samurai grabbed Louis' vision and held it to his face, "YOU HAVE A VISION, A GIFT FROM THE GODS, GIVEN BECAUSE YOU HAVE A DREAM! THERE IS SOMETHING YOU WANT ISN'T THERE? DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE WANT THIS? WHO WOULD BEG TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO FULFILL THEIR DREAMS?!" the samurai began crying, "do you know how many have had that stripped away? All because someone said they should? Well they still fought. They all fought. And so many died." He placed Louis' vision back on its holder, "so don't you dare give up, and don't you dare die just because someone said you should!"
It wasn't the help Louis needed to fix himself, but it was enough. Enough to help him go on.
_____________________
Vision: shards of a broken dream
Despite what he told the public, Louis did not spend those fifteen missing years because he was discouraged, but because he was betrayed.
Louis was approached by a well known inventor, who said he would help Louis' invention get the recognition it deserved!
Louis should have listened more carefully, because the man never said anything about helping HIM get the recognition he deserved.
The man stole his patent for the gas lamp and rebranded it as his own invention, and threw Louis to the curb.
Were Louis any other person he would have curled up in the warmest alleyway he could find and die, but Louis was not any other person.
Instead he began to create, he spent years and years trying to perfect gas power, then the gods saw his ambition and granted him a vision, a vision of flame.
The vision ignited at an inopportune moment however, and caused a massive explosion that nearly killed the then twelve year old boy.
Inopportune to anyone else, that is.
For in the flames of pain he saw the truth, the overwhelming power that is explosive force.
Then with his still burning hot hands he got to work, forged casing after casing to try and capture the gas that had shown him the light. He spent weeks forging a small metal pellet that could not only survive the blast, but also remain strong enough to pierce through nearly any armor. Then he created the keystone of his work, his masterpiece, the first gun.
And he used the first bullet to take revenge.

Abilities:
Main- power of gas: throws a glass container with flammable gas, applying a swirl like effect to a large area that effects all enemies.
After using it, the player can use the ability again to strike a piece of flint that will create a giant explosion that only effects enemies.
Ultimate- culmination of ambition: Louis creates a large explosion blasting enemies away, the camera then zooms in on him holding up two pistols. After the animation ends Louis replaces his Catalyst with dual guns that deal 5X damage and attack twice as fast for ten seconds
Weapon type: Catalyst
Vision: pyro
Passive: glass heart- party members gain 5% extra friendship experience when Louis is in the party.
Special dish: ice cold jelly- a simple spin on the classic mint jelly, Louis adds a special cooling agent to it that increases the cold of the mint exponentially.

Ryuunosuke Naruhodou - Pokemon AU
Just your average guy! Before he gets dragged into a potential end of the world scenario by the people around him, and inevitably becomes one of the heroes. Oops. Good heart, has no idea what’s going on most times. Some plot points in descriptions for if I ever actually write for this. In order for when he catches them.
Pichu -> Pikachu = Naruhodou found the pokemon when he was a child when the other was a pichu. The pichu evolved into a pikachu in his teens. Isn’t “officially” Naruhodou’s pokemon until the steamship incident after getting free pokeballs from (S)Herlock. Hates being in the pokeball, so he just either hangs out on Naruhodou like Ash Ketchum or is held by him like a baby. Very silly. Is slightly afraid of Susato’s Togedemaru.
Swablu -> Altaria = Was also found by Naruhodou when he was a child. When a Swablu, she likes to sit on his head. Isn’t “officially” Naruhodou’s pokemon until the steamship incident after getting free pokeballs from (S)Herlock. Evolves during a battle against Jezaille. Has a strange and confusing bloodlust towards Asougi. Nobody knows why, I guess Asougi just failed the vibe check. Would try to bite him whenever Naruhodou wasn’t looking. Does not act like this to literally anyone else that doesn’t have bad intent. Chills out after the plot though. Likes to be a pillow, much like her trainer. Has a megastone.
Ninetales = Karuma. Naruhodou gets her pokeball after Asougi’s “passing”. She doesn’t want to battle after “losing” her second trainer, so he doesn’t force her to. However, becomes open to battle after saving Naruhodou from an imminent demise of some kind. Is given back to Asougi after he returns, but is then given back to Naruhodou before the big event that every pokemon game has (explained more in Asougi’s descriptions). Naruhodou keeps her for now.
Egg -> Eevee -> Umbreon = After rescuing an egg from some grunts, it eventually hatches into an Eevee, which later on goes to evolve into an Umbreon when Naruhodou has to book it into a forest at night to get away from a group of grunts and gets lost because it’s so dark. Is very clingy and, when out of her pokeball, is always pressed up against Naruhodou’s legs when not battling. Kind of shy but filled with joy as well.
Rockruff -> Lycanroc (Dusk) = Naruhodou saves her from being captured by a grunt. When she evolves, she confuses literally everyone because she evolved in the dusk and got a form that was relatively rare and not well spoken about. She’s filled with rage. Heavily overprotective as well as a bit arrogant, and has jumped out of her own pokeball to make Naruhodou swap her into a battle.
Gogoat = Naruhodou catches him after a small battle to prove himself worthy. Loves to run around like mad. Has a fondness for slamming into people he likes and knocking them over. Naruhodou is not allowed to stand up when he is out of his pokeball. Naruhodou rides on him a lot due to this, because he can’t just keep being knocked over even though he loves him. Very excitable and easily provoked.
Keystone = Naruhodou “found” the keystone when investigating something ((S)Holmes slid it into the spot he told him to investigate in the Garrideb’s place). Iris attached a little holder for it to his arm guard.

Kamilla leaned forwards to read the front page. “The Barry Allen Drunkenness Scale.” Bemused, she looked up. “What’s this? “This,” said Cisco, “is the result of a great deal of research and a number of hard-earned lessons.” He pulled up a chair and sat beside her, pulling the folder towards them. “There are eight stages of Drunk Barry, each one with a varying level of severity. It begins with stage one.”
Inspired by the Santiago Drunkenness Scale from Brooklyn-99. Team Flash are throwing a party to celebrate Kamilla and Cisco’s departure from Central City, and Kamilla wants to make sure they go out with a bang. But with great power comes great responsibility, and sometimes responsibility means making sure your friend doesn’t break the sound barrier by doing the worm at Mach 2.
Read on AO3
@dctvgen (i hope this is okay!! didn’t really use any prompts but i had this one saved up and seemed like a good time to post it, lmk it’s not suitable!!)
Life came at you fast. After seven years being besties with a speedster, working to save the world, Cisco knew that to be true in more ways than one. But apparently despite everything he’d seen, it still had the capacity to surprise on him.
One minute the thought of leaving Central City had been a vague, abstract thought – a ‘what-if’ or a ‘maybe’ he dwelled upon whenever yet another crisis announced itself with a shower of broken glass raining into his Vibeuccino, or when he’d compared the news in Central City, which was all doom and gloom and murderous metas, to somewhere nice and peaceful like Keystone, where the biggest news story of the day was some kid winning the national Spelling Bee Championship. Then the job offer came in, and Kamilla had tested the waters with wanting to leave – and now their stuff was all packed and in boxes, he had a start date at ARGUS, and what had been a daydream was now a very clear reality. He’d hung up the gloves, said a final goodbye to Vibe.
It was the other goodbyes that were going to be the hard part.
“It just feels weird, you know?” he said, pausing in the middle of hanging bunting from the corner of the cortex. “We’re saying goodbye to everyone we know. This has been my life for almost eight years now. Team Flash are my family. It feels weird to celebrate leaving all that behind.”
“Don’t think of it as a celebration of what we’re leaving behind,” said Kamilla, who was sat at the desk, partway through ordering pizza. “Think of it as a celebration of everything we’ve accomplished. Making friends and building inventions and saving the world! I know it’s difficult and change can be scary, but it doesn’t have to be. We’ve done amazing things, and I think it’s important to honour that.”
Cisco sighed as he successfully stuck the flags to the wall. He climbed down from the table he was stood on and joined her at the desk in his usual chair, pushing himself back and forth with his foot. “You’re right,” he said. “You’re always right. I’m not getting cold feet, I promise. I’m excited. We’re going to make this work. We’ve done amazing things, and we’re going to do even more. Together.”
Kamilla beamed. “That’s the spirit.” She held out her hand for a fist-bump.
Grinning, Cisco returned it. “You’re such a dork.”
“Which is exactly why you love me,” Kamilla countered, with a few final clicks and a flourish as she placed the pizza order. She consulted the list on her phone. “Okay, so we’ve got the cake, the decorations, the drinks, and the pizza is in transit. There’s just one more thing we need.”
She slid past him and made her way towards the small metallic fridge tucked away in the corner. Kamilla typed in the passcode 05-20-80 – the release date of The Empire Strikes Back – and the fridge unlocked with a clunk, revealing two test tube holders – one containing a single emergency vial of Velocity IX, and another that held eight tubes of liquid a few shades lighter than blood.
Cisco glanced over, bemused. “Babe, did you stash your Kraft beers in my security fridge? Because that seems a little excessive.”
Kamilla eased the second rack of tubes off the shelf like a tray of freshly baked cookies out of the oven. “No, I’m just getting a couple of vials of 500 proof for Barry. I didn’t want him to feel left out of the festivities.”
Cisco had met a lot of speedsters in his time, but in that moment he was pretty sure he moved faster than any of them as he sprinted across the room to intercept. Startled, Kamilla jerked back and the test tubes clinked together like champagne glasses mid-toast.
“Sorry, can we just back up a little bit – you’re what now?” said Cisco.
“I’m grabbing some drinks for Barry,” Kamilla repeated slowly. “This is his special speedster booze, right?”
“Uh, yeah,” Cisco said nervously. “It is, but…”
“But…?” Kamilla prompted.
“Listen,” he said, hands up in a pacifying gesture. “It’s not that I don’t trust you, but that is a highly controlled substance and it’s really in everyone’s best interests if you put it back.”
Kamilla grew wide-eyed. “Why? Is it dangerous?”
“I mean, if any normal person drank it, it’d pretty much liquidize their insides, but that’s not the problem.”
As he spoke, Cisco headed over to the shelf on the wall, ran his fingers along the various binders tucked onto the shelf, and pulled one off. Cisco carried it over to the table, pushed aside the keyboard and laid the folder flat in front of her.
“The problem,” he said, flipping it open, “is this.”
Kamilla leaned forwards to read the front page. “The Barry Allen Drunkenness Scale.” Bemused, she looked up. “What’s this?”
“This,” said Cisco, “is the result of a great deal of research and a number of hard-earned lessons.” He picked up the metal test tube rack and returned it to the fridge, his fingers flying across the buttons to input the code before he slid the vials back into place. “It’s also the reason why this stuff doesn’t leave the lab except in dire emergencies, including but not limited to break-ups, deaths and severe metahuman disasters.” Decisively, he closed the fridge and it locked again with a clunk and a beep.
“I don’t understand.”
“That’s because you are fortunate enough to have never before encountered an inebriated Barry Allen,” said Cisco. “Let me walk you through it.” He pulled up a chair and sat beside her, pulling the folder towards them. “There are nine stages of Drunk Barry, each one with a varying level of severity. It starts with stage one.”
1 DRINK BARRY: A LITTLE CLINGY
One of Barry’s many wonderful qualities is his propensity for affection. Unimpeded by the bounds of modern-day toxic masculinity, 1 Drink Barry generously bestows physical affection on everyone he encounters. To put it plainly: he’s a hugger.
Standing outside Barry and Iris’ front door, Cisco checked his watch.
Usually at this time of night, he’d be hanging out in the cortex watching the red dot darting around on the monitor as Barry did a lap of the city, or in his lab tinkering with some new invention. Tonight, though, was different. They’d all agreed work was off-limits – time to take a hard-earned break. Cisco had been looking forward to it all week, but he guessed the rest of Team Flash didn’t share his enthusiasm, because they were late. That wasn’t like Caitlin at all. Shrugging, he lifted his hand to knock.
The click of heels made him turn just in time to see Caitlin bouncing up the stairs in her heels. “Hi, I’m here! Sorry I’m late; Frost and I couldn’t agree on an outfit.” She leaned in. “Did you bring the, uh…”
Cisco slid a silver flask out of his pocket slightly. “Sure did.”
“Then I guess we’re ready to go!”
“Damn right. …Ladies first?”
Caitlin knocked. They waited, listening to the rattle of six locks being unfastened one at a time, until the door opened to reveal Iris standing on the threshold wearing a tight red dress and a leather jacket.
Cisco whistled. “Damn. You look good.”
“You’re not so bad yourself,” said Iris as she stepped back from the door to allow them entry. “Barry will be down in a second, he got held up at work, so he’s a little behind –”
There was a whoosh and a crackle of lightning, and Barry skidded to a stop beside her with windswept hair and a grin. “Here! Hey, guys.”
“Oh. Famous last words.” Iris reached for her purse and swung it onto her shoulder. “Well I’m also running late, so I’d better get going. You guys have fun! And try to stay out of trouble, okay?”
“I’m afraid we can’t make any promises, cos everybody knows there ain’t no party like a Team Flash party!” said Cisco. “You sure you don’t wanna come with us? It’s gonna be one hell of a night.”
“Thank you, but I’m going out with a couple of the girls from CCPN tonight, so… rain check?”
“I’ll hold you to it,” Cisco warned.
“You’d better.” She rested her hand on Barry’s arm. “I’ll see you later, okay? I love you.”
“I love you too,” said Barry, and he leaned in for a kiss.
“Boo! Get a room!” Cisco hollered.
Iris rolled her eyes fondly. “Goodbye, Cisco,” she said, and headed out.
Cisco sighed. “And then there were three.” He looked from Barry to Caitlin and back again, stretching out on the sofa. “Okay, drinks!” He headed into the kitchen and returned with a bottle of wine in one hand and three glasses in the other.
“Uh, isn’t the drinking supposed to start after you leave the house?” asked Caitlin.
“Only if you’re an amateur! You always have a drink or two before going out on the town. It’s financially savvy.”
“Thanks, but I’ll pass,” said Barry when Cisco offered him a glass. “No use wasting perfectly good alcohol when it doesn’t even touch the sides.”
“That,” said Cisco, “is why you’ll be drinking this.” He pulled out a silver flask from inside the breast pocket of his blazer. “I call it 500 Proof 2,” he said, and held it dramatically aloft like Frodo holding the one ring.
Caitlin wrinkled her nose. “Really?” she said.
“The name’s a work in progress,” he admitted. “But the drink itself…” He kissed the flask. “She’s ready to go.”
Barry eyed the flask warily. “I don’t know…”
“Oh, come on, you’ve earned it. The city can manage without the Flash for one night. Go on, live a little.” When Barry continued to look skeptical, Cisco started to chant. “Barry, Barry, Barry–”
Grinning, Caitlin joined in. Barry endured it for all of thirty seconds before he rolled his eyes and snatched the flask. Caitlin and Cisco both cheered.
“That’s what I’m talking about!” said Cisco.
He splashed wine into his and Caitlin’s glasses, and passed one to her. She took it with a twinkle in her eye.
“All right, Team Flash!” Cisco whooped, and they clinked their glasses against Barry’s flask before they all drank.
Barry pulled a face. “Jesus! That’s – that’s potent.” He coughed, eyes watering.
“You’re welcome,” said Cisco. “We made a couple of tweaks to the formula. It should stay in your system longer instead of just burning off in thirty seconds flat like the first batch.”
“It tastes like rocket fuel!”
“Don’t worry about it. It’ll put some hairs on your chest,” Cisco said dismissively.
“You can say that again,” muttered Barry, massaging his chest.
“Speaking of hairs on your chest,” said Caitlin, curling up comfortably in her seat. “Did they grow back yet?”
“Not entirely,” admitted Barry. “It’s sort of a peach fuzz.”
“That’ll teach you not to get so close to my experiments,” said Cisco.
“Maybe it’ll teach you to label them better,” said Caitlin.
“Really? Don’t do me like that!”
“Sorry, it’s true.”
This triggered a bout of good-natured bickering as they debated the results of some of Cisco’s more disastrous experiments. Before long they were all laughing, loosened up by the drinks. Barry, who was perched on the arm of Caitlin’s chair, leaned against her.
“I love you guys, you know that?”
“We love you too, Barr – ooof! Oh. Okay,” said Caitlin, bewildered. Barry had slid off the arm of the chair and squeezed up next to her, taking up half the chair like a Great Dane still trying to sit in its owner’s lap.
“Look at him, he’s getting tipsy already,” Cisco teased.
“Shhh.” Barry rested his head contentedly on Caitlin’s shoulder. Amused, she patted his knee.
Cisco downed the rest of his drink. “All right, let’s get this show on the road.”
He offered Caitlin his hand – only to have Barry grab it instead. Then he grabbed Caitlin’s hand too.
“Oh, we’re holding hands?” said Cisco. “Is that a thing we do now?”
“It is when we’re running,” Barry said, grinning.
Caitlin’s eyes widened. “Oh. No, no, no runni–”
The rest of her sentence was lost to the wind.
 2 DRINK BARRY: KINDA CLUMSY
When Barry became a speedster, he gained a massive boost in motor functions, including enhanced reflexes that have massively improved his coordination. Prior to this transformation, his ability to walk unhindered across a flat surface was roughly equal to that of Bella Swan from Twilight. Two-Drink Barry is harmless, but he must be kept at a safe distance from breakable objects.
Okay, so travelling at super speed sucked – Cisco would stick to breaches from now on, than you very much – but he had to admit it had its advantages. They’d beaten the evening rush by minutes and found themselves a table, where they had been comfortably situated for the past half hour. Since then the bar had filled rapidly, and now they were surrounded by people. Glasses clinked, bodies gyrated. All around them was laughter and the throb of music; he could feel the buzz of the bass against his elbows where they rested on the table.
“This is nice, isn’t it?” asked Caitlin. “No monsters, no metahumans… just the three of us having a few quiet drinks.”
“Don’t jinx it,” Cisco said darkly. “Also, I don’t know that the ‘drinks’ part is entirely accurate. The fastest man alive is about to lose his title. Where the hell is he?” Barry had offered to get the next round, but that was ten minutes ago and they hadn’t seen him since. Frowning, Cisco and scanned the room.
Just as he had started to get concerned, the crowd parted and Barry appeared with three glasses in his hands.
“It’s about time! What took you?”
“I’m so sorry,” said Barry. “I got held up at the bar, there was a huge li–”
Whatever he’d been about to say next was cut off as he abruptly tripped over his own feet.
All three drinks spilled everywhere. Lightning flickered as he lurched forwards to try and intercept, and he managed to right the glasses, but not before the majority of their contents had ended up all over the table.
Cisco’s plastic cup floated across the tabletop in a puddle of dismally fizzing coke, which dripped steadily into his lap. Caitlin looked down at her soaked sweater, hands held up in shock. Her eyes flared white.
“This,” snarled Frost, “is a cashmere sweater.”
Barry’s eyes were wide. “Oh my God, guys, I am so sorry.”
With a jerk of her head, Caitlin regained control. “It’s fine,” she said, then winced, presumably in response to whatever Frost snarled in the back of her head. “Really. It happens to the best of us.” She pulled the sopping wet fabric away from her with a grimace. “Um… does anyone have a tissue?”
“Let me get some paper towels!” said Barry.
Cisco reached out to stop him. “Actually, Barr, maybe you should –”
But it was too late: Barry had already turned around and crashed into a guy going in the opposite direction, who slopped beer all over himself. Cisco winced sympathetically.
“I’m sorry!” Barry said, while the guy glared and shook his wet hands.
“Maybe you should take a seat,” said Cisco.
Still apologising profusely, Barry sank onto his stool and shrank in on himself, nursing what was left of his drink while Caitlin went to get something to clear up the mess.
“So I guess those adjustments we made to the 500 proof are working, huh?” Cisco said with a smirk.
“Oh, they’re working,” said Barry. “Speaking of which, can I get a top-up?”
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Caitlin asked, returning with a wad of paper towels. She started to mop up the table.
“What? Oh, yeah, I’m fine. I’m not even buzzed, seriously. Tipsy at best. Come on, hit me.” He waved at his drink.
Cisco and Caitlin exchanged looks. There was a slight flush to Barry’s cheeks, and his eyes were a little brighter than usual, but other than that he seemed stable.
“I have wanted to study how the speedforce interacts with alcohol,” Caitlin admitted. “Metabolic processes aside, I am interested to measure the effects.”
“What the hell,” Cisco said. He unscrewed the cap of the flask and tipped it in to Barry’s glass, pouring a generous measure. “Knock yourself out.”
Barry beamed and picked up his drink. “Cheers,” he said, and they all clinked their half empty glasses.
 Three Drink Barry: Barry Dance-Pants
This Barry is able to flawlessly replicate the choreography for every single Britney Spears music video unprompted. So far we have been unable to determine where he acquired this information.
They all agreed that it was best if Cisco got the next round. He didn’t retrieve the next lot of drinks any faster than Barry had – if anything, he was slower; people kept shoving in front of him every time he got close to the bar – but at least the glasses stayed upright this time. When he returned to the table, though, Caitlin was alone.
“Where’d Barry go?”
Caitlin frowned. “I thought he was with you.”
“Nope.” He passed her drink over to her.
Caitlin worried at her lower lip.
“Hey, don’t stress,” said Cisco. “Barry’s a big boy, he can take care of himself.”
“I don’t know. He’s been gone a while, and he wasn’t exactly steady on his feet. He might hurt himself.”
“Good thing we have a doctor on call,” said Cisco, sipping his drink.
“That’s not funny. Seriously, I’m worried about him. I’m not sure he should be left unsupervised.”
She had a point. Speed and immense clumsiness wasn’t a great combination – they’d learned that the hard way. Cisco downed the rest of his drink with a grimace. “All right, let’s go look for him.”
They got up and headed out onto the dancefloor. The music was so loud that the entire room vibrated, Britney Spears’ Womanizer throbbing through the room. Caitlin pulled back and made a face as she almost inhaled a mouthful of some stranger’s coarse blonde hair. She batted it away like cobwebs.
“Ugh. Remind me why we decided to come out on the busiest night of the week?”
“Seemed like a good idea at the time,” muttered Cisco, craning his neck. “Man, I can’t see him anywhere. It’s like playing Where’s Wally? Hey – hey, excuse me! Can I just squeeze – guys?” He attempted to slide past a knot of people, only to give up with a frustrated sigh. “Jesus, it’s like talking to a brick wall. What the hell are they looking at?”
Caitlin stood on her toes. “It looks like...” She stopped. “Oh, no.”
“What?”
She grabbed his arm and steered him through the crowd, using him as a battering ram to force her way through. Eventually, breathless and sweaty, they made it to the outskirts of the dancefloor, where Cisco finally got a good look at exactly what had captivated everyone’s attention.
Barry was in the middle of the dancefloor, tearing it up. He strutted up and down, squatted and slut-dropped before he arched his back and pumped his hips forward in several lewd thrusts. The crowd cheered.
“Oh my God,” said Caitlin.
“He is killing it!” Cisco cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled, “Yes, Barry!”
Barry winked and blew a kiss, rolling over to air-hump the ground with an alarming level of enthusiasm.
“Should we maybe go over there?” asked Caitlin.
“In a second,” said Cisco. He held his phone up, pressed record and zoomed in on Barry’s gyrating body, careful to keep his face in shot. “I wanna get this for posterity’s sake.”
“Cisco!” Caitlin scolded, and reached out to cover the camera.
Cisco jerked the phone out of reach. “You are aware that his ringtone for you is still thirty seconds of you butchering Summer Lovin’?”
Caitlin pursed her lips. “On second thoughts,” she said. “I hope you’re getting this in HD.”
Cisco grinned and went back to recording.
*
“Okay, that’s a little embarrassing,” Kamilla conceded.
“That? That was iconic,” corrected Cisco. “The man has moves. I swear he was a professional dancer in another life. I still have that video; I’ll show you later if you ask me nicely…”
“I’ll hold you to it. But none of this explains why this stuff has to be so rigorously controlled. I mean, being clumsy, affectionate, kinda sloppy, tearing it up on the dancefloor… that sounds like pretty standard drunk behaviour.”
“The first three drinks aren’t the problem,” Cisco said darkly. “It’s what comes after that you have to worry about. See, drunk Barry is insatiable. One drink is never enough. Once he’s had a taste of that sweet, sweet 500 proof concentrated speedster juice, he won’t rest until he’s had more. And while he may be an icon, three-drink Barry soon gives way to…”
 FOUR-DRINK BARRY: LOUD BARRY.
Barry Allen is a hero in every sense of the word. Time and time again he has sacrificed everything for the noble goal of making the world a better place. Barry doesn't save lives for the glory or the recognition; he does it because it's the right thing to do. But four-drink Barry… he thinks a little recognition might be nice.
The final chords of Womanizer faded out into a sea of applause. Beaming from ear to ear, Barry took a series of bows, flapping his hand as if to say, ‘oh, stop it!’ After a few more moments of thoroughly enjoying the spotlight, he disengaged from his loving admirers and headed back towards Cisco and Caitlin and slid breathlessly back into the booth. His sweaty hair stuck to his forehead.
“Where did that come from?” Cisco asked, impressed.
Barry shrugged. “I’m full of surprises.”
“Clearly. I think you just earned yourself another drink!”
Cisco handed him the flask, and Barry clinked it cheerfully against Cisco’s beer bottle before he tipped it back and swallowed with a grimace. His eyes watered.
“Damn. That never goes down any easier.”
“Well it is just concentrated alcohol,” Caitlin reminded him. “Speaking of which…” She pulled her testing kit out of her purse. “Four drinks should be more than enough to start showing some side-effects. Let me take a quick blood sample.” Before Barry could object, she stabbed a lancet into his finger.
“Ow!” Barry put his finger in his mouth and sucked on it.
“Everything okay there?”
They all turned. A blond man in a grey t-shirt stood a short distance away, looking at them in concern.
“What? Oh, yeah, I’m good. Just hurt my finger.” He held it up ruefully.
Blondie moved closer. “Well it’s your lucky night: I’m a nurse. Why don’t you let me take a look?”
Cisco plastered on a smile. “That’s real nice of you, but our friend here is actually a doctor, so –”
Barry held out his hand, overriding Cisco’s objections. Blondie took it and examined it, tracing his palm with the tip of his finger. Cisco rolled his eyes hard and took another swallow of his drink.
“I was just watching you out on the dancefloor,” Blondie said. “Those were some impressive moves.”
“Oh, it was nothing,” Barry said modestly.
“No, it was definitely something. If I busted out a routine like that I’d be laid up for a week. What’s your secret?”
“Funny you should say that, cos…” Barry leaned in and said impishly, “I’m actually the Flash.”
Cisco choked on his drink. It went straight up his nose; his sinuses were on fire. He coughed hard, eyes watering.
“Are you okay, man?” the stranger asked concernedly.
“Great,” Cisco managed.
Satisfied, Blondie’s attention returned to Barry. “Well, I think your finger’s okay.” His thumb pressed against the inside of Barry’s wrist and his forehead creased slightly. “Your pulse is pretty fast, though.”
“Is it?” Barry said, resting his chin on his hand. “I hadn’t noticed.”
Caitlin rolled her eyes.
Blondie released him, but he showed no signs of leaving. He looked Barry appraisingly up and down. “So you’re the Flash, huh?”
“Yep,” Barry said. His eyes twinkled. “Fastest man alive.”
“Mm. Maybe we’ll have to test that.”
At this point, Cisco decided, enough was enough. He slapped Barry on the back hard enough to make him stagger and complain, “Ow!”
“Ha!” he said. “This guy. He’s a kidder, right? A real riot. Hey, uh, Barry, can I talk to you for a second?”
Before Barry could object, Cisco had grabbed him by the back of the shirt and pulled him out of the main bar area into the corridor, where there was a line of people waiting for the bathroom. Out here it was cooler and while he could still feel the throb of the music through the sticky soles of his sneakers, at least he could hear himself think.
“Dude,” he said. “Seriously? What the hell?”
“Oh, come on. It’s just a little harmless flirting. Iris and I, we have an agreement–”
“I’m not talking about the flirting! You can’t just –” Cisco stopped and made himself take a very deep breath before he lowered his voice. “You can’t just tell people you’re the freaking Flash!”
Barry gave a slow, confused blink. “But I am the Flash.”
He didn’t say it quietly. Several heads turned their way.
Cisco gave an uncomfortable laugh and rolled his eyes, before darting them at Barry like, ‘this guy, am I right?’ After a moment, the bystanders lost interest and went back to their conversation, and Cisco lowered his voice. “I know that, Barry, but it’s a secret, remember?”
“A secret?” Barry’s eyes widened and he clapped his hands over his mouth. “Oh! Right, I forgot. I’m sorry.”
“You know what? It’s all good. Just a little misunderstanding. But uh, let’s keep that one under wraps from now on, okay? Lips…” He mimed zipping up his mouth.
Barry nodded dutifully. “Got it.”
“Okay.” Cisco exhaled heavily. Jesus. Babysitting a drunken speedster was hard work.
Barry patted him on the shoulder. “M’gonna go to the bathroom. I’ll be back in…” He held up two fingers. “Two seconds.”
“You’d better be. And remember –” He made the zipping motion again.
Barry imitated it, pretending to lock his mouth up and tossed away the imaginary key. Then he went to join the queue.
Feeling like he’d just aged a decade, Cisco made his way back to their booth. Mercifully, Blondie had gone to chat up some twink at the bar. Cisco sank back onto his stool and buried his head in his hands.
Caitlin, who was squeezing a few droplets of Barry’s blood onto a testing strip, made a sympathetic sound. “Not having a good time, huh?”
“I’d be having a great time if Black Canary over there could quit singing about his secret identity for five freaking minutes.” Cisco snatched the silver flask off the table and screwed the cap back on with a sharp twist. “We’re cutting him off right now, before we get into any more trouble.”
“Oh, come on, cut him a little slack. He doesn’t exactly get to let loose very often.”
“There’s letting loose and then there’s whatever the hell this is.” Cisco shook his head. “It’s like –”
A high-pitched shriek cut him off, and Cisco grimaced as it rang throughout the room. Everyone turned to the source of the commotion – and Cisco’s heart sank. Barry stood on the stage, fumbling with the microphone stand.
“Is this thing on?”
“Oh God,” said Caitlin.
Cisco launched himself at the stage, fighting through the crowd. As he did, Barry continued to ramble into the mic.
“Hi. My name’s Barry, Barry Allen, and I just wanted to say something real quick. Because I love this city. It’s like… my favourite city. And I love all of you. Especially you.” He pointed unsteadily at someone in the crowd and gave a clumsy wink. “Anyway, I’m gonna tell you a secret while I’m here. You guys can keep a secret, right? Shhh!” He put his fingers on his lips. “See, I’m not supposed to tell you this, but…” He leaned in so close that his lips brushed against the mic. “I’m the Fla –”
Just in time, Cisco jerked the mic away from him. “Flaaa–ha! Okay, that’s quite enough of that. I think my buddy here needs some air.  Come on, Barry, let’s go.”
Luckily, Barry didn’t resist. He whooshed cheerfully as Cisco shunted him back to their booth and into his seat, then lolled sideways against Caitlin, who – with reflexes well-honed from constantly grabbing flying paperwork – managed to save her testing kit from being swept off the table.
Barry giggled. “I’m fast,” he said.
“Okay,” Cisco said resignedly. He turned to Caitlin. “Got any better ideas?”
She shrugged. “Pray that six-drink Barry is a little more tight-lipped?”
It sounded like a terrible idea. But when had that ever stopped them? With a shake of his head, Cisco withdrew the flask from his pocket.
“Hold on.” Caitlin’s voice had dropped an octave, and silver began to creep down from the roots of her hair. “I wanna see this,” said Frost. “It’s gonna be a total shitshow.”
Unfortunately, Cisco suspected she was right. He splashed more alcohol into Barry’s glass. “Here you go, big guy. Drink up.”
Barry looked down at his drink and frowned. “Can I get ice in this?”
Frost passed her hand over the glass and a chunk of ice dropped to the bottom with a clink.
“Awesome,” Barry said, and downed it.
“Oh God,” said Cisco. “We are so gonna regret this.”
 *
“Okay,” said Kamilla, looking up from the binder. “I think I’m kinda starting to see the problem. But we won’t have that issue tonight. Everyone at this party knows Barry’s the Flash.”
“Listen,” said Cisco. “Four-drink Flash is a cake-walk. The worst is yet to come.” He flipped the page. “Let me introduce you to five-drink Flash.”
*
 5 DRINK BARRY: THERAPIST BARRY
Five-drink Barry got a little too invested in Iris’ Intro to Psychology textbook in college. He’s all heart, zero clinical training.
Leonard Snart lay back on his bunk in Iron Heights, one leg resting lazily over the other, flipping through a nudie magazine. At least, that was how it appeared from outside the cell. Tucked between the pages was a blueprint of the prison, which his sister had smuggled in during her last visit. The bed creaked as he shifted his weight.
One of the guards struck the bars with his baton. Len glanced up.
“Snart. Get your ass out here. We’ve got a phone call for you.”
“Who from?” Lisa didn’t usually call so soon after a visit, and Mick never called at all; the signal on the Waverider was terrible.
“What do you think I am, your PA? Just get your ass out here.”
Interest well and truly piqued, Len tossed his magazine aside, careful to make sure the blueprint stayed safely tucked between his pages as he crossed the cell and waited for the door to be unlocked. Given his status as a high security prisoner, the guard cuffed him before leading him to the payphone booth in the reception area, the walls marked with grease stains and graffiti. With some difficulty, Len picked up the phone.
“Hello, this is Leonard Snart speaking. How may I be of service?”
The quality of the call wasn’t great. He could hear the throb of music, people talking and shrieking and laughing in the background.
Then a familiar voice said, “Snart? Is that you?”
Len’s forehead creased. “Barry?”
“Shmart. Snart.” Barry cleared his throat. “Hi. Are you okay?”
“…Peachy.” Len flicked a glance over his shoulder. The two prison guards stood watching him with folded arms and distinctly unimpressed expressions. “Can I ask if this is a business or a personal call? Because this isn’t exactly a secure line.”
“I just –” A loud, deep burp echoed down the line. “Wanted to check in n’ make sure you’re doin’ okay.”
“What?”
“Because I wanted you to know,” Barry said, his voice thick and indistinct, “that it’s okay not to be okay, you know? You shouldn’t bottle up your emotions. You gotta let ‘em out, you know? After everything you’ve been through with Lewis, I just wanted you to know that if you ever needed to talk…” He choked up, before recovering. “I’ll be here.”
“Barry, are you drunk?” Len said incredulously.
“See, there you go again, changing the subject. Have you ever noticed that you often use de… def… deflection as a way to avoid talking about difficult subjects?”
“I’m hanging up now,” said Len.
“No, no, no, no, wait! Wait!” Barry said urgently. “You need to talk about what bothers you. Don’t just bottle it up. Your emotions are a beautiful thing. Emotions are what make us–”
“Barry?” came another muffled voice on the other end of the line. “Who are you talking to?”
“No one,” Barry said immediately.
“Barry, give me the phone.”
“No.”
“Just give me the god damn –”
The sound of static and scuffles crackled down the line, and Len grimaced, lifting his head as far away from the speaker as he could to keep from being deafened. Over the commotion and the continued music blasting in the background, he could hear Barry shouting.
“You can be anything you want to be! Your past does not define you!”
“Okay,” said Len, and went to put the phone down.
“Wait!” said Barry. “Before you go, do you have a number for King Shark? Because I wanted to check in and make sure he’s doing okay. I know he looks scary, but underneath that slimy exterior he has the heart of a –”
Len rolled his eyes and hung up.
*
Sober Barry was a seasoned fighter, with speed, agility and hard-won experience on his side. Fortunately for Cisco, however, Drunk Barry’s combat skills comprised of slapping and some half-hearted attempts to bite, which meant that he was able to wrestle the phone away from him fairly easily. As he hung up, he glanced at the caller ID and blanched.
“Seriously? You’re making phone calls to Iron Heights? Are you gonna tell all the bad guys your secret identity too?” He held Barry’s phone up. “You know what? I’m keeping this; you clearly can’t be trusted.”
“My phone!” Barry said, and made a pathetic grab for it.
“Nope. Not happening, pal.” Cisco tucked it into his back pocket.
Barry pouted.
“Hey, don’t give me that look. I’m going to give it back later, I promise. I just need you to sober up first.”
“Okay,” Barry said sorrowfully. His bottom lip started to tremble.
“Oh, no,” Cisco said. “Not the lip – oh God, Barr, you’re breaking my heart here.”
“What’s happening?” asked Frost, returning to the table with two more beers, frost creeping down the side of the bottles. She gave a disinterested look at Barry, who was staring at the table with tears brimming in his eyes. He sniffed hard.
“Uh-oh,” said Cisco. “Six-drink Barry must be…”
 SIX-DRINK BARRY: SAD BARRY
Shortly after his fifth drink, Barry loses his well-honed ability to repress and crumbles under the weight of well over a decade of trauma. In times of crisis, he can be medicated with chicken wings or, in a pinch, large servings of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.
Cisco turned to Frost for help, but she inched away, rapidly shaking her head. Great, thought Cisco. Super helpful. He rubbed Barry’s back tentatively.
“Hey, Barry. You doing okay there, bud?”
Barry looked up. “I just got off the phone with Snart. He’s having a really hard time, you know? I mean, some people just can’t catch a break. He had a crappy abusive drunk for a father; he practically raised his sister. In and out of juvie, never graduated high school – and in spite of all of that, he comes up with these brilliant heists – like seriously impressive – and then the Flash comes in and totally ruins every single one of them. I mean, come on. The guy’s gotta make a living somehow, am I right?”
“Uh,” said Cisco.
“I always said to him, you can do better.” He poked Cisco clumsily in the chest to emphasize each word. “You have what it takes to be a hero. So the guy joins the Legends, becomes a hero, and then he freaking dies in an explosion. Kaboom! And then he comes back, returns to Central City to start over, robs one lousy bank and gets thrown straight back in prison. How is that fair?”
“Jail time seems like a fairly reasonable consequence for grand larceny,” said Frost.
“It’s just a bad habit,” Barry said forlornly. “He deserves help and compassion, not a prison cell. Do you know what it’s like in Iron Heights? The food is terrible. My Dad spend a decade in there and he always said…”
He trailed off. For a moment Cisco thought he’d gone into a trance, as he stared down at the table, forehead slightly creased. Then he saw the haunted look in Barry’s eyes. The face of a man who had seen terrible things.
They needed a distraction. Luckily, Cisco had just the thing. “You know what?” he said. “Maybe the food in prison isn’t great, but you know what’s awesome? The food you can get delivered right here. Nice, starchy, alcohol-absorbing food. Let’s look at a take-out menu and see what we’ve got.” He pulled up JustEat on his phone. “We could get you a pizza… maybe some fries… a couple of burgers; that sounds–”
“Chicken wings,” Barry said distantly.
They both turned to look at him.
“Chicken wings?” said Frost sceptically.
“Chicken wings,” Barry insisted.
“Okay!” said Cisco. “We’ll get chicken wings.” He added one portion to the basket. Then took another look at Barry’s face and hit the plus button several times. “Lots… and lots… of chicken wings.” He locked the phone. “Okay, food should be with us in a couple of minutes. So what now?”
“More drinks!” Barry said.
“No! No more –”
It was too late; there was a crackle of lightning and then the flask slammed back down onto the tabletop.
Cisco closed his eyes in defeat.
 8 Drink Barry is a Michelin-star chef
Sober Barry’s cooking is average at best, but 8 drink Barry reveals a deep inner passion for the culinary arts.
It was a little past two am when a breach opened at the top of the stairwell, pulsing and flickering with pale blue light. Frost and Cisco staggered out of it, each holding one of Barry’s arms to keep him from escaping.
“Okay, almost there,” said Cisco. “You’re doing a great job. Can you let us in?”
Barry patted himself clumsily down until he found his keys and tried to open the first lock. He kept missing the keyhole. After his third attempt, Barry sighed and collapsed forwards, head resting against the wood panelling. Then he started vibrating.
Cisco suddenly realised what he was trying to do. “No, no wait, don’t–”
There was a buzzing sensation, a sickening lurch, and then all three of them fell straight through the front door.
Frost gave a full-body shudder and released her hold on Barry’s shirt to rub her arms.
“Never do that again! It makes my skin crawl.”
“I feel like we should have a rule about phasing under the influence,” Cisco muttered.
Together, they managed to get Barry onto the couch, where he lay blinking up at them, floppy as a rag doll, barbecue sauce smeared down his chin. More of the wings had ended up on his face than in his mouth, but Cisco hoped the restorative properties would kick in soon.
“Hey, Sad Flash. How’re you holding up?”
“I’m hungry,” Barry said. He clawed his way to a standing position. “Gonna make food.” Yellow light blazed as he sprinted into the kitchen.
Frost turned to Cisco. “He’s still hungry? He had like, eight servings of chicken wings!”
“Just go with it,” Cisco muttered, and then the alarming sounds of crashes and bangs came from the kitchen. “Barry? Do you need some help in there?”
Lightning crackled erratically as Barry sped around the room. Within seconds, every available surface was strewn with culinary equipment: a chopping board; a stained knife; various ingredients. A knife flashed as he rapidly diced an onion and swept it into the pan too fast for the eye to follow, and then the burner came on with a click and a whoosh. Oil sizzled as Barry dropped a steak into the pan. He grabbed a wine bottle off the side, yanked the cork out with his teeth and spat it across the room; it missed Frost by inches, and she recoiled in disgust. Barry sniffed the wine, and after a moment of consideration, he sloshed a generous amount into the pan. Flames leapt skyward, and Barry expertly tamped them down.
“Uh… what are you doing?” said Cisco.
Barry flipped the steak with a flick of his wrist. “Cooking.”
“Yeah, I can see that, but I thought you were going to make pasta, or fries, you know – normal drunk people food, not –” Cisco inhaled. “What even is that?”
“Braised steak in a red wine sauce, with asparagus on the side,” Barry said.
“…Right,” said Cisco. “Sorry I asked.”
*
“That doesn’t sound so bad,” said Kamilla.
“It isn’t,” said Cisco. “It’s goddamn awesome. The problem with 8-Drink Barry is that hot on his heels is –”
*
9 DRINK BARRY – SLEEPY BARRY.
On the night the particle accelerator exploded, Barry went into a coma and remained unconscious for nine months. During that time, his score on the Glasgow Coma Scale was a 5. Rumour has it that nine-drink Barry scored even lower than that.
“This is the worst night out I’ve ever been on in my life, and I share a body with Caitlin. Her idea of fun is wearing hideous pyjamas and watching documentaries on Hulu,” Frost hissed.
They stood on the doorstep laden with plastic bags while Cisco searched through the assortment of keys Barry had given him, trying to find the one for the first lock. “Look,” he said, inserting one into the lock with a crunch, “I know it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing, but hopefully he’ll have got the rest of it out of his system while we were out breaching to every grocery store in the city.”
“Right, because Gordon Ramsay in there had to have…” Frost slid the bottle of wine out of the grocery bag. “Whatever the hell this is. Chateau Belair Mona–whatever. As if a hundred-and-fifty-dollar bottle is going to taste any different than the fifteen-dollar fifty bottle from the liquor store.” She rolled her eyes. “What the hell is he even going to do with it?”
“To be honest, as long as he doesn’t drink it I could care less what he does with it. Just keep him distracted for long enough to get some more food inside of him and make sure any breakable objects are out of reach before he gets down to the two-drink level.” He shook the keys in frustration. “Jesus, how many keys do they have?”
“I still don’t see why we had to–” Frost paused and narrowed her eyes. She sniffed sharply. “Is something burning?”
They looked down. Thick grey smoke billowed out from underneath the kitchen door.
Seconds later, the door burst off its hinges in a cloud of icy fog.
Inside the loft was total chaos. Barry slumped at the kitchen table, dead to the world, his hand still loosely clasped around the flask of speedster booze. A small puddle of drool on the table shone in the firelight. Behind him, his frying pan lay abandoned on the range, smoking violently while flames leapt towards the ceiling.
The piercing shriek of the smoke alarm tore through the room. Frost blasted the frying pan with a thick stream of ice and cold energy crackled from her palms, barely making a difference in the temperature of the room. Cisco grabbed a damp tea towel off the side and beat at the flames, trying frantically to extinguish the blaze. Behind them, Barry didn’t so much as twitch, his snores drowned out by the alarm.
*
“Okay, I think I get the gist,” said Kamilla, looking up from the folder. “No-booze Barry is the way to go.” She hesitated. “But just out of morbid curiosity, what about nine-drink Barry?”
“Unchartered territory,” Cisco said darkly. “We figured eight drinks was enough.”  He closed the folder conclusively. “So yeah, it sucks that Barry can’t drink with us, but with great power comes great responsibility. And sometimes responsibility means making sure your friend doesn’t accidentally break the sound barrier by doing the worm at Mach 2.”
Cisco went to slide the folder back onto the shelf. As he did so, his gaze caught a framed photo on the countertop. He paused and picked it up, smiling sadly. It was a picture of himself, Caitlin, Barry and Thawne – or Wells, as they’d believed back then – from the early days. They all looked so young, grinning at the camera, hair tousled where Barry had sped out from behind the phone before the shutter clicked. His chest ached.
Kamilla put a hand on his arm. “You’re going to miss them, aren’t you?”
“Always.” He put the photo down. “But we gotta keep moving forward. Speaking of which, it is beyond uncool to be late to your own party, so we’d better get shaking.” He held out his arm. “Ready?”
“You go,” said Kamilla. “I just have a few last-minute things to take care of. I’ll catch up.”
“Okay.” Cisco kissed her on the cheek and slipped out of the room.
Kamilla glanced over her shoulder, bit her lower lip. Then her gaze slid over to the fridge.
Tiptoeing across the room, she approached the container and input the code again. Her hair tossed as she glanced over her shoulder to make sure that no one was watching. Then she slid out a single blood red vial and tucked it into her purse.
Just in case.

Alright, I feel like I am jumping the gun.
Me and everyone else who make BBTAG crossover shit always IMMEDIATLY to everyone world hoppign and hanging out without giving regards to how it starts.
So let’s look at the situations they are in at the time of BBTAG’s first story mode (like I said No AH, SK or AB)
Going off of the endings of their Episodes, in Blazblue we see Ragna leaving Noel to be found by Makoto, Ragna chewing out Rachel, and Hazama having System’s Crystal. All of these could be wrapped together.
Small retcons could be made to explain Noel’s outfit, Azrael being there we could just explain as the BB crew knowing his reputation, but I have NO excuse for Es being present.
I should really make a novelization of BBTAG that actually gives a more serious twist onto this.
Persona and Under Night are more gag endings, with Persona ending in a high school AU, and Under Night just resulting in the battle royale in Kanzakai.
RWBY just ends with the team back in the dorm with their system crystal.
Now for my idea, assuming that everyone keeps a Keystone, 1. Not too sure if Hazama will end up with it (he will eventually for some special bullshit) so either Rachel or Kokonoe. 2. Assuming that Yu will telport back to Inaba with his friends, then Aigis would go along too and Yu would hand the System crystal over to Aigis to give to Mitsuru back at Shadow Ops HQ. 3. Not too sure on Under Night, There’s no real Big Good in Under Night and we haven’t seen too much of Licht Kreis’ top brass to get a feel for them, so Under Night is up in the air. and 4. Ruby keeping System in her pocket and then tyring to hide it only for her to be discovered by Ozpin and all the shit that follows because seriously RWBY should be the LEASt prepared to deal wit comsic other worldly bullshit.
That is where the peices lie, but the next big question is......why?
WHY do all the charactrs start coming over? Who is the first one to try and reach across dimensions and have an interdimensional skype call or something? Rachel would want System locked up so she doesn’t cause any more damage plus she doesn’t want other worlds to get dragged into their cosmic game with Terumi and/or cause distractions, and I doubt the Blazblue bag guys want to add MORE variables to their complex plan of manipulation. I don’t see any other reason for the other keystone holders to connect. I could only see the more friendly main characters wanting to see their interdimensional buddies again but goign to all that trouble seems like much.
BUT, if soem heroes start coming over to Blazblue world and making friends and helping them out, THEN the BB baddies might start getting nervous and just call on the bad guys of the other worlds just to get some man power to keep these new guys off their tails so they can keep their o.g. plan on track. With IDK the promise of ultimate power or something, destroying their worlds and the  gving them the power of Observation to make them the gods of their world
And then there is a HUGE division in the characters with factions and such:
With Blazblue you have the main Coup with Kokonoe Tager, Makoto and Noel (this is before CP but after CS) with Kagura and Hibiki helping on the inside and Celica most likely still being made, Jubei is training Jin, Platinum is with Bang, Ragna is with Tao, and Carl are all on their way to Ikaruga for various reasons. Litchi joins the NOL and Tsubaki is brainwashed.
You have Litchi joining the NOL because she wants to cure Roy no matter the cost and Kokonoe is being a callous bitch
Bang would speak of Kagura being a traitor to the NOL and how Jin killed his master Tenjo
Then if any of them run into Bullet wanting to find the truth about what happened to her captain from Kokonoe only for Koko to sick Tager on Bullet to kill her.
Tager not being able to disobey Kokonoe due to his programming and Kokonoe doing a LOT of shady things
These things do not seem liek they’d make the other good guys think that the main “good guys” of Blazblue are trustworthy.
For Persona, you have the Investigation Team and the Shadow Operatives. To keep thign ssimple let’s just have the og. Arena Shadow Ops here since having Yukari and Junpei (how have their own jobs and lives) and Ken (who quit so he can have a normal school life) would be a bit much.
Mitsuru would be professional and treat this like the serious mission that it is, but the I.T. mgiht still want to help out their new friends. Adachi is arrested, and SHo is off doing whatever, and Igor and the Velvet Room dudes only show up for the Wild Cards and don’t exactly seem like they’ll join in on big meetings
Then you got Under Night In-Birth, You’ve got Hyde, Linne and Waldsteina as the main crew, with Vatista also being there. Orie is with Lex, Kaguya and Mika as the local Licht Kreis squad, with Wagner and her two attendants there o probabtion. Carmine just runs around and beats people up. You’ve got Amnesia with Hilda, Chaos and Enkidu, with Gordeau being hired as a Mercenary (not a full member) due to his depression. Merkava is also running around doing his own thing, so are Seth and Yuzu, and no one gives a shit what Byakyua, Phonon and Nanase are doing. I’ll have to wait for cl-r to come out to see how Londrekia will fare in all this, but then we’ve gotside guys like Kuon, Azel, and tons of other side characters.
Under Night is hard because everything story wise we’ve seen has technically been a prologue in Chronicles Mode, and Arcade Mode is a mish mash of events that don’t know which is canon, and all of them make Hilda look like the biggest chump in the universe.
For RWBY, in Volumes 2-3 they are in a time of peace, not feelinjg too good after the Breach, and I doubt they would want to stick their noses in an interdimesnional conflict if it’ll come to bite their world in the ass. Cinder and company are trying to lay low since they are undercover, Roman is arrested on Ironwood’s ship, Adam is off preparing the WF for the Fall, and Salem and co. are doing.......whatever they were doing for the first 3 volumes.
Honestly I’d have to all go something like this
Blazblue character with Keystone: new Stone who dis?
someone from the other worlds: hey this is X, I’m a friend of Y, could we come over and hang?
Blazblue character: No
other person: PLEEEEEEASE!
BB person: fine
other BB character: Whassup we’ve got a world government to overthrow
other characters: Oh shit that seems bad, want some help new BFFS
other Bb characters: Sure *Brofist*
Hazama and the others: “Oh shit this is not according to keikaku” *calls other bad guys* “Hey, if you help us take care of your enemies we’ll give you free candy...I mean world omination...or......I DON’T know just get these kids off my lawn!”
and then go from there.

Review Response, June 9-15, 2019
Once again, I wasn’t at home yesterday so this got delayed, and once again that 1 day delay doesn’t change anything whatsoever.
... And whatever the hell happened to the horizontal line breaks?! Now I’m just manually making those lines with - like a sucker...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Destiny #006
1) Oh shit I finished the chapter so quickly it felt like it only lasted a couple minutes (though I know it’s a lot longer, I just got too eager). In any case, I was super excited to see White in this chap! I can’t wait to have her and Black interact, I absolutely love the way you write them (just like with Ruby and Sapphire kek). Speaking of Ruby and Sapphire: the jealousy from Sapphire’s side was on point! And I cannot wait for Sapphire’s reaction to Ruby’s answer. Btw nice sort of cliff hanger on that one. And tbh I have no idea what Ruby would say. I feel like he might say no because of Sapphire and the whole mega stone or keystone thing whatchamacallit, but again I’m not sure. Also, no? Blue answer your calls from Red? He’s worrying about you, love. All you need to do is answer and boom! On your way to happiness! Well. Sort of. I guess. Baby steps. But anyways, Dia’s (and Pearl’s no kidding) was adorable. And it made my little shipper heart happy, so kudos to you for that. And also I think it was great how you wrote Platinum as still polite yet attached; regal even when literally lying unconscious a couple minutes prior. It was so like her, and it still amazes me how on point you write these characters. Though admittedly Blue is not how she is in the manga (but that’s sort of the whole point, so like that’s what’s ideal). And so although you stay true to their personalities, it’s also great that you kept in mind how things would affect certain people and changes they way they behave in accordance to that. So kudos to you for that too. Also, definitely NOT going to be happy meeting Peter again in this story. I know it’s going to happen, but I can only hope that the guy spying on Blue (whom I assume is Peter) will not do anything to her, and if so isn’t revealed as Peter. Simply because I just don’t want to put up with his douchebaggery. Oof my reviews are long, but I get so caught up in it that I can’t help myself. Thank you again.
I do like writing with Black and White. But unfortunately, they are just 2 of MANY Dex Holders, so they won’t be getting as much focus as you’d like, especially since they’re particularly high on my Preference List. Damn. That said, when there’s one, there’s always the other with these two. Inseparable!
Indeed. All Blue has to do is answer Red’s call and everything becomes just fine. Another parallel to Legacy, if you will. In Destiny, Blue ignored the calls out of her fears and thus sh*t happens. In Legacy, Blue answered the call, and thus she was able to attain true happiness! But Destiny is the “mid-point” between SA and Legacy. The “mid-point” of the pairing shift. Blue’s progression towards Red has to be a gradual one.
Oh, Platinum. She must always retain her elegance, even if she had just gotten absolutely stomped a minute prior. That’s what makes her... her, you know?
Blue’s character traits of melancholy and depression (when alone) is mostly canon, but her steps towards rampancy is a... personality extrapolation given the canon. If she was to be pushed a certain way, how would she react? That kind of thing.
I’m loving your long reviews! But I do notice that it’s been a month since you started Destiny, and this is chapter 6. Out of 43. ... Hmm...

Wings #001
1) Hello, hello! Right from the start, this story was surprising to see since I remembered that you said that you didn't like these sorts of high school AU things. I've only seen bits and pieces of this story being mentioned, but I didn't expect this sort of thing! The start was amusing; I found it funny how Y was paying attention to the way she looked, but by the end, I understand y now, and I feel sorry for the poor chap that ruined her reputation already.
Hey, you started on Wings! Yay!
Yep, I absolutely detest high school AU stories. But only because they’re all mostly the same thematically. Wings aims to avoid every single one of those common themes.
1) Self insert: I am not putting in “myself” with a disguise of the main character in a high school AU to “relive” high school but with my desired outcomes. No. Y in Wings is nothing like me. In fact, I’m basing Y’s aggression based on a web comic series I’ve seen years ago. And my high school “outcomes” were mostly identical to my desires anyways, so... meh.
2) Unpopular girl main character: My understanding of the main characters in “those high school AUs” is that the girls are always like timid and unpopular and gets bullied by the “pretty and popular” mean girls until the main character eventually triumphs once the “popular guy” falls in love and... blech. ... What do you think will happen in Wings if the “pretty and popular” mean girls were to bully Y? Yeah. Wings is nothing like those types of stories.
3) Romance: Y doesn’t give a f*ck about love in Wings. Some “cute popular” boy makes a move on her, she gives him the finger and then walks away. The end.
4) “(Name) is a normal girl attending high school and-”: ... Y is not normal. Yes, she wants a normal high school life, but literally right off the bat, I smashed that wish because Wings cannot be remotely similar to any of “those high school AUs”.
And on and on.
I’m glad you thought it was amusing! Wings is intended to be purely for fun. Especially later on as more shenanigans happens.
... But I’m curious that you’re leaving a GUEST review, instead of the signed one, currently with the ID of... er... ... keyboard mashing. Hmm...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wings #002
1) It's nice to see the Kalos group coming together! I still haven't finished reading the XY arc of the manga, but it's nice to see Y and Shauna's interactions. I like how you gave a brief insight to Shauna's life in her middle school years; getting bullied sucks, and it must have been hard for her if she prefers to be friends with someone who is viewed negatively and lowers her own reputation down, rather than increasing the chances of getting bullied again. Maybe I'm just overthinking this, but it's still nice! And for X...dang, I feel sorry for him...salt and pepper in his eyes and mouth? That was extreme. Overall, a pretty great chapter! It was amusing from the way X and Shauna unintentionally contributed to lowering Y's reputation in her classroom, and to watch Y beat up intimidating students was funny to imagine.
Yep. Y and Shauna will be one of those “BFFs”, but... not really like those. I have to retain Shauna’s canon personality, which is a bit... sarcastic? So she’ll have a more “cool” friendship with Y instead of those “omg hug” types or whatever. F*ck those.
Hmm... Shauna having a bad middle school experience is not really intentional, but it does make sense, if you think about it like that. But it could also be that Shauna just finds hanging out with Y to be amusing.
X getting salt and pepper poured into his face is LOOSELY based on what I went through in high school, where some prick randomly poured a packet’s worth of salt on my head (getting all that damn salt out of my hair took absolutely forever), and so I took revenge by emptying at least 30 packets of salt and pepper into a sheet of paper and then pouring all that into his hair the next day. So... poor me, poor that kid, and poor X. Hehe.
Oh, there will be more instances of Shauna inadvertently worsening Y’s reputation, with real and fake stories. But Y won’t really mind since it’ll already be too late. There’s no turning back with her reputation now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wings #003
1) Like a bolt from the blue, it's time for a (ratherlatethanintended) review! I really missed the way you write and how you describe everything in detail. Really helps me visualize everything! I know that's the point of writing, but your writing style is effective since I tend to zone out whenever I read something too long. Plus, the way you have each chapter structured keeps things interesting. My interest in piqued with each passing chapter! I'm thoroughly enjoying this story so far.
Okay onto the chapter itself! I like how Grace is supportive of Y's choices even when her daughter's being really violent in school, though perhaps it's because Grace was a delinquent herself when she was younger? Maybe?
And the way X behaves and reacts whenever Y is around is both amusing and sad. Very traumatic for him I'm sure. I do hope that his and Y's relationship as friends improve as chapters go by.
Faitsu and Crystal finally appears so I'm happy about that! I hope more familiar faces appear soon! Speaking of which, I felt like the teacher at the end of chapter 1 could turn out to be someone we know, but I don't know if that's just me. (It's not at all possible due to your preferences, but I keep thinking it's Green, even though he's in the void of nonexistence.)
Getting decked in the face by a soccer ball...hah. What a way to meet your future teammate! ...assuming she ends up joining the soccer club that is.
Overall, a great chapter! I like how lively everyone is, even the nameless students!
Ehehe... thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying this deviation of a story of mine. After all, I’d never make another high school AU, ever, and this is the only one, so... it’s quite the deviant.
My thoughts on Grace is that she’s kind of a cool mother. ... Though I think that’s more... er... non XY arc. Hmm... Well, like mother like daughter... right?? Hehehe...
Oh, X and Y will be GOOD friends as time passes! Can’t have Y stressing out the poor boy, now can I? He will certainly prove to be a good supportive friend, though... not physically supporting (later on).
Faitsu and Crystal (and Black, technically) have appeared! More and more familiar faces will appear and be mentioned as time passes, of course. In fact, most everyone will be in Wings. Red, Blue, Gold, Crystal, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black, White, Faitsu, X, Y, Sun, and Moon! ... Even Sword and Shield, if Wings lasts long enough. ... So... no, Green is not in Wings, since he has been banished into the void for eternity.
Yep. Decked in the face. And bloodshed. Real hard to get by ONE day without bloodshed, eh? Hehehe.
I look forward to seeing your review for the 4th chapter!

Curse of Castle Halloway, Pt. 12
Our current party consists of:
Anala, Dragonborn Cleric of Pelor, from the clans to south. (+ An albino dragon egg) Bartleby, Halfling Rogue, a Halloway native. Camlib, Lizardfolk Druid, from the eastern swamps. Fengari, Aasimar Sorcerer, from Lightbreak Temple. Rowan, Half-Elven Paladin, currently serving Eldath. Shade, a Tiefling Warlock of the Raven Queen.
Who will win this heated tournament for... what honor, exactly?
“[Maracas intensify]”
~ 14 Days Until the Dark Hunter’s Moon ~
Bartleby and Rowan take their places in the arena, ready to face off.
Some mutual bashing/stabbing goes on, before Bartleby decides he's done with that and does what rogues do best, instead.
He disappears from sight!
This enrages the lizardfolk crowd, and they send a hail of spears down. Luckily, their aim is not great against a target they can't see. Neither is Rowan's.
Bartleby uses this advantage to get in a sneaky sneak attack.
It then devolves into a melee back-and-forth until Rowan is eventually knocked out.
Bartleby is crowned winner on this round!
Oh, now what did this remind me of? There was an old story like this, I swear... what was it called...
Nevermind. Anyway -
Shade graces us with her prescence, this time with a stamped reminder on the back of her hand to be gentle with company property.
Seeing her companions bloodied and surrounded by unknown lizardfolk, she readies a crackle of eldritch energy, but is soon talked down by Bartleby.
The lizardfolk escort Bartleby and Rowan off to the healer's tent, and Camlib decides that she wants to join in on the festivities.
She makes a graceful leap down from the stands... but falls and slips in the mud.
It then becomes a battle between Shade's spooky warlock magic and a crocodile.
Camlib seems to have a devoted fan section, being a hometown favorite, but Shade has the wildcard energy on her side.
The crocodile succumbs.
Shade is crowned winner of this impromptu third match!
Which she feels slightly guilty about, because she didn't want to hurt her friends in the first place, but... she did win...
Moving right along, a loser's bracket is held. Rowan and Fengari go back and forth, while Camlib seems just fine keeping her distance.
Rowan is overcome and this bout becomes almost a case of deja vu, just with less crocodile.
Camlib wins the consolation bracket!
The final match is also a 3 person free-for-all, this one between Shade, Anala, and Bartleby.
Anala summons a guardian, but Bartleby circumvents it, and manages to take her down.
Now down to Shade and Bartleby, Bartleby attempts their invisibility scheme again, met with another hail of javelins. Not very effective, one of the lizarfolk manages to stab themselves instead somehow. The stand grog must be flowing strong.
Shade holds up better against the surprise attack, and summons a weird... slurpy... void...
Bartleby moves out of the void and strikes out, but Shade manages to edge out the win.
Shade wins this tourna- wait, Anala is back up somehow??
And....
Ouch.
-Ahem!-
Shade wins the tournament!!
C̗̠̥͜o̢̤̝̙͍n̠̭̭̘͍̥͓g̻̻ŕa̼̲tu̯̱͔̣̻̗̠l̦͎͔ḁ͖t̼̠̯͝iọ̻̼͕͝n͏͇̞̦͎ͅs҉͈̼̭̩̗͖͕,͉̺̯͈͈̟͉ ̡͇l͖̜̗ͅi̬̪t̷͍̙̼̺t̩̩̜̠ļ͕͉̻̰̳e͖̦͍͔͉̲̞ ̥̺͓ó͔̼n̺̬̙͢e҉
It is determined that Shade will be the holder of the statuette of Semuanya, complete with a crowning of a chain of swamp flowers.
There is a celebratory feast.
Fengari tries the food, but it doesn't agree with him much. Camlib digs it, though.
Rowan asks when he'll be sacrificed. Anala thinks the winner should be sacrificed.
The next morning, the group sets off into the swamps with a 6-person escort of lizardfolk unaffected by the illness.
A huge stone monolith marks the beginning of the deep swamps.
Camlib produces the keystone, and shares it with the group.
They determine the pictograph means "move towards the sun", so they do.
After wandering a bit, they reach a very water-logged, marshy area, that requires them to use the table as a canoe. It's surrounded in patches of deep water and filled with ancient, gnarled tree roots and fallen branches.
There's a mingling stench of rotten plant matter and... death.
They notice the sound of a drowning woman calling out for help, and spot her clinging to a downed tree, struggling to hold on.
Rowing up, Bartleby offers his hand out to the woman.
She grabs on, and thanks him emphatically, then promptly attempts to drag him down into the water.
Bartleby pulls back, and yanks off her decomposing arm.
A shrill, echoing scream echoes throughout the swamp.
Huge mounds of congealed, decaying flesh emerge from the water and rise up around them, random limbs and heads moving separate of the mound.
Bartleby throws her arm back at her, and the group draws their weapons as they realize they're surrounded.
So! What is in store for our heroes(?) next time??? Will the group be able to navigate through the fetid swamps of Ikedzi? Will the ceremony be successful when they reach the correct altar? What awaits in the ruins of Old Sacred Grove? At that, will they even survive this extremely stinky encounter?
Find out – Next session!

Here’s your dose of What the Fuck is Going on News (2/1/2017 edition)
Donald Trump said that he would encourage Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to change the Senate rules if his Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, does not receive enough votes for confirmation. This falls in line with statements he made last month that he would change the rules to confirm his Cabinet nominees. (source)
Two Republican senators have announced that they plan to vote against education secretary nomination Betsy DeVos. Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins said that they plan on voting against DeVos, meaning only one more senator needs to deny her nomination. Murkowski told the Senate floor today that she's made her decision based off thousands of calls, emails, and letters she's received from people in her state who do not want DeVos as secretary of education. If you would like to see if your senator is one of those on the fence regarding DeVos and would like to contact them voicing your concerns, click here for the list. (source)
Congress is going to attempt to dismantle two big environmental regulations today. The stream protection rule for coal mining, which worked to protect streams from coal mining debris dumping, and the methane waste rule which required oil and gas companies to reduce methane leaks from operations on federal and tribal lands. Environmental groups support the stream protection rule saying it would protect people in coal country from health risks from pollutants like mercury. (source) (source)
Another order that is up for dismantling is called the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces, which states that taxpayer money should only go to companies that are abiding by the laws that protect American workers and that the federal government should only give contracts to companies that pay their workers the wages they’ve earned, protect the health and safety of employees, and prohibit discriminatory practices. It would also require federal contractors to disclose labor law violations from the last three years and change their practices before they can receive a contract. (source)
The Senate has approved former ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson as the next secretary of state. (source)
The House GOP voted to kill off the regulation that requires publicly traded oil, gas, and mining companies to disclose any payments they made to foreign governments, including taxes and royalties. It was intended to cut down on corruption by increasing transparency. Interestingly enough, the newly appointed secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, personally lobbied against this rule back in the day. (source)
Dozens of lawsuits have been filed against Trump since his inauguration, mostly in regards to the travel ban affecting the 7 Muslim-majority countries, Trump's ethics violations/conflicts of interest, and sanctuary cities. (source as well as a breakdown of some of the lawsuits filed)
Donald Trump made a statement to mark the first day of Black History Month, and you can read the full transcript here. In his statement, he mainly focused on himself and those who voted for him, he then went on to rant about "fake news," his desire to increase law enforcement in Black communities, and listing the Black people that he knows. Trump also made a vaguely worded present-tense comment on Frederick Douglas that makes it seem like he is unaware who Douglas is. A reporter later asked press secretary Sean Spicer to clarify Trump's comments and did so without telling him that Douglas has been dead for 122 years. Sean Spicer remarked "I think he wants to highlight the contributions that he has made, and I think through a lot of the actions and statements that he’s going to make, I think the contributions of Frederick Douglass will become more and more." This lead more people to believe that neither Trump nor Spicer know who they’re talking about. (source along with videos of both Trump and Spicer’s interviews)
Rep. Tom Price and Steve Mnuchin were pushed forward to receive a full vote on the Senate floor - meaning they’re one step closer to being confirmed. This happened despite the fact that the Democrats boycotted the nominations. Senate Finance Committee Chair Orrin Hatch suspended the rules and pushed these two Cabinet picks forward anyway. Price is the nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services and Mnuchin is the pick for treasury secretary. There was opposition to move forward because the two nominees held back information about their backgrounds and have possible ethics violations that have yet to be addressed. (source)House Republicans are attempting to institute right-to-work policies for the entire country. This would be a serious blow to the labor movement and has received extreme opposition for labor unions. (source) Another change was made in regards to Trump executive order that barred refugees and stopped people from the 7 Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S. A counsel to the president issued guidance to government agencies saying the executive order does not apply to legal permanent residents, also known as green card holders, and that they will no longer need special waivers to re-enter the U.S. (source)
The Dakota Access Pipeline will receive a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to allow construction of the project to be completed. This comes after Trump's executive order last week that reinstated the building of this and the Keystone Pipeline. In a statement to NBC News, Standing Rock Chairman Dave Archambault II said granting an easement now would effectively "abandon the EIS" and would amount "to a wholly unexplained and arbitrary change based on the president's personal views." The Standing Rock Sioux tribe plans to fight this easement in court. (source)

A question was asked....
....of me over the weekend. I have no idea in what way the comment was meant as it was via lovely Facebook but it has been bothering me. I did not reply back. I have not said anything still. However I have spent a great deal thinking about this small, insignificant comment.
“Has anyone told you the election is over.”
I was awake watching the results on November 8th. I was there with fellow Americans, the nation, and the world watching the results unfold with bated breath. I was one of the 65,800,000+ Americans that was devastated by the results, unable to catch my breath.
Yes, I know the election is over.
I was angry. I was disappointed. I was disgusted. A man who had no problem saying "I'm automatically attracted to beautiful [women]—I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything ... Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything." was elected of the free world.
To be fair, Hillary wasn’t my original candidate either. Yet we aligned on many different topics the most. The longer Cheeto ran, the more I desired her to win for I felt she stood more for democracy than he did. But that didn’t matter, did it? Even though she was the more popular candidate she still lost the election.
After a while, politically I went quiet. I retreated from the news and social media to digest the loss as much as I could. To focus on the things I could directly control like the safety of my staff against hate and abuse. Yet even that came under scrutiny. “Then just move.” Yes, because I can just pack up and move to some magical place that racism, hate, bigotry, sexism, misogyny, and ignorance doesn’t exist. Like I don’t have responsibilities and obligations that I can just drop and move. You know, a husband and career.
I shed tears when I heard the electoral college voted Cheeto into office. Again I was angry but I tried to keep quiet. “Give him a chance.” I thought. “Maybe it was all a show and he will actually do right by America. Maybe I was wrong.” I hoped and prayed more than I ever have in my entire life. After a very long and painful 2016, I prayed that 2017 would be kinder, wiser, and more loving than any year before.
Then January 20th, 2017 happened.
The day I gave up any form of faith as I watched how Melanie show clear signs of abuse. Something I am unfortunately intimately familiar with. The day I watched the first President I had ever voted for leave the oval office for the final time. The day I felt that everything negative about humanity had won. The day we became the most divided.
Within 24 hours my greatest fears for this nation were confirmed. Our President accused that millions voted illegally for Hillary even though there is zero proof to support this (Actually, some woman did illegally vote, for him). Betsy DeVos was announced as the choice for Education Secretary. You seriously think this woman deserves to head education? We are already struggling with educating our young and we want to condemn them further? I remember public school and there are far worse school’s than mine.
Executive action to repeal the ACA which will end up restricting health insurance to millions of people from the man that wants to reinstate “Pre Existing Conditions” back into play. This would effect my family just like the millions around the country. Oh, don’t forget there is no replacement plan on the table last I heard.
However the bad news didn’t stop there, did it? Scott Pruitt to head the EPA. Climate change removed from the White House Website while scientists are being silenced about it (You know, national parks setting up alternate twitter accounts to continue to inform people of science facts.) Not to mention the other multiple federal agencies ordered not to speak to the press. Instead we are getting “Alternate Facts” which are utter bullshit.
He pledged to sign FADA, a legalized form of discrimation against the LGBTQ community. The ban on Green Card & Visa holders from 7 middle east countries and detaining them from their families and responsibilities for “The Security Of The Nation” while conveniently leaving out Saudi Arabia where he has a business and, where one could argue, many terrorists can come from too. It also supports discriminating against a person’s faith. Don’t forget the Muslim register that could go into effect. *Cough* Like the persecution of Jews *Cough*
The Senate wanting to strip away a woman’s right to bodily autonomy and the health care associated with it. Pushing the Pro-Life agenda without having any plan in place to support the children you are forcing us to have. And don’t you dare give me the bullshit about keeping my legs closed when there are studies showing that sexual activity builds a closer and healthier relationship with your spouse. Or the long term environmental effects each life has. You know, the fact this planet cannot sustain life if we continue down the path we are currently on.
Keystone XL & Dakota Access pipelines are going forward again. Cheeto and cabinet members still using their personal electronics for government duties and responsibilities. Wasn’t that what you were all upset about with Hillary? #Thefuckingwall. Not only is this one of the dumbest things he wants to implement, it does not foster any good will with other countries which we really need. I would rather spend my tax dollars on education, infrastructure, health, and science.
I’m sure I’m missing several other key pieces of information but I think you get the idea. If you voted for Cheeto, for whatever reason, I do not hate, dislike, or unlove you. I respect you used your American privilege to vote for who you thought was right. I will not attack, torment, or be prejudice of you. But I do not have to respect him as many of you did not respect Obama. I will not say his name, he has not earned it in my book. Yes, I know the election is over. But did you know…
In the words of Agent Carter “..Doesn’t matter if the whole country decides something WRONG is something RIGHT. This nation was founded on the one principle above all else: The requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or consequences…..When the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world. ‘No, YOU move.’ “
I will not stand quietly by as people’s rights are taken away out of fear. I will not quietly stand as a dictator tries to silence the people, which violates our most sacred amendment, the first amendment. I will not stand by as our rights are attempted to be taken away by a proven Nazi (Bannon). I will not stand for injustice, racism, hate, bigotry, sexism, misogyny, and ignorance. I will not fear.
I will march. I will call my representative. I will read and educate myself. I will have discussions. I will advocate for every man, woman, child regardless of the color of their skin or the choice of religious faith. I will stand for your right to your opinion even if they are on the opposite sides. I will be peaceful in my protest but I will also refuse to move. Let me be the first to say that I’m sure I don’t have all the facts. I’m sure there is more to everything than we will ever know. I’m sure more information will continue to come out and we will all have to navigate the waters of journalism and decide what is truth nor will we all agree. But I will fight for you, myself, friends, family, strangers, and mostly importantly our future.
“A day may come when the courage of men fails, When we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, But it is not this day.
An hour of woes and shattered shields, When the age of men comes crashing down, But it is not this day…..this day we fight.” -Aragorn
Yes, I know the election if over. But do you know the #Resistance is revived?

1929 Ford Model A Roadster Has Changed Little Since 1953 Appearance in Hot Rod Magazine
Elwood “Woody” Brougher was a dirt-track brawler and hot rod hero in and around his hometown of Pittsburgh. It didn’t hurt his reputation that he also owned one of the first and finest parts emporiums in the area. Brougher Speed Shop sold go-fast goodies and hot rod parts to the good people on the west side of the Keystone State.
Woody would often make treks out to California to see what was going on with hot rodders on the left coast, hoping to procure new products to sell back home. On those trips he also scouted cars and hot rods to buy and bring back with him; some to keep for himself, others to possibly flip to make a quick buck.
Little has changed aesthetically on this roadster over the years, except for some heavy crazing of the original Barris lacquer paint job. When current owner Bill Ruffner bought it, it was missing its original engine, radiator, and wheels. He has done his best to make it look the way it did in HOT ROD back in 1953.
It was on one such trip in 1954 that Woody spotted a gleaming orange ’29 roadster built with all the components that a proper hot rod should have. He came to find that its pedigree was well established. It had been worked on by some of the biggest names in the business. Another big selling point was that this little roadster had a gnarly flathead powerplant, which gave the flashy Ford a boost of bravado where it really counted.
The icing on this proverbial cake was a write-up in the December 1953 HOT ROD magazine, which included a photo on the issue’s cover as well. Woody was quickly enamored with the little Ford and knew he had to have it, so he dug deep and came up with the $900 that it would take to “steal” the roadster and bring her home to Pittsburgh. Now the only question was how was he going to get it there?
The chassis of this hot rod starts with a ’32 frame, which was Z’d to get the back end to sit lower. A 2 1/2-inch drop in the front axle gives the roadster the slightest of rakes.
Woody did the only thing he really could do: He flat-towed the roadster back to Pennsylvania. Somewhere along the 2,500-plus-mile trip, the fabricated conduit front-fender brackets broke. Woody did the smart thing and pulled off the four fenders to make sure they made it back with the car. Besides that hiccup, the roadster made it home without a scratch.
Hot Rod Legacy Woody’s new purchase was previously owned and built by Jack McDermott of California, who had called on some of the era’s best car customizers to work on the car. That included Kustomizing King George Barris and world-renowned upholsterer Jim Gaylord.
The front end and suspension are just the way they were in 1953. The original filled drop axle still sits up front with its chromed shocks. It also wears the original California plate that appears on the car in the December 1953 HRM. A set of ’39 juice brakes does the stopping.
The roadster’s build started with a ’32 frame that had been Z’d out back and pinched up front to follow the Model A’s body lines. Among the upgrades installed were a reversed Auburn dash and the windshield and stanchions from a ’30 Model A. A ’35 Willys steering box was added, as were a filled drop axle and split wishbones. It’s said that Barris himself did the glowing orange lacquer paint on its skin and Gaylord did the white and orange vinyl interior.
But one of the most important features of this feisty Ford was under the hood. The 268ci ’46 Mercury flathead was a veteran of the dry lakes and had reportedly pushed a belly tank to 151 mph in 1949. The powerplant was built up nicely with a Clay Smith cam, a Potvin ignition system, a set of Edelbrock heads, and an Edelbrock two-pot intake. It was definitely a potent motor, especially for a small roadster, and it made the Ford a fast ride on the California streets.
The ’32 banjo rearend is the same one that builder Jack McDermott installed back in the early 1950s.
As the years went on, Woody made a few changes to the car. He realized that the potent flathead lost a lot of its luster over time, so he decided to switch to Chevy small-block power. It’s said that the car never was taken out on the street after he changed the motor. In later years the Chevy mill was sold and the car sat without any powerplant for some time. Woody passed away years later. His grandson Gary Brougher inherited the roadster.
Bill’s Toy Bill Ruffner grew up in Delmont, Pennsylvania, in the hills surrounding Pittsburgh. He knew of Woody Brougher and had been to his speed shop several times. It’s there that he first got a glimpse of the roadster in person. He had also seen it in HRM, an issue that he had borrowed from a buddy who bought a copy at a swap meet. “I read the article, and I knew the car had come east and was now nearby in the town of Somerset,” says Ruffner.
The roadster was missing its potent flathead mill that McDermott installed in 1950, but Ruffner did his best to duplicate the build using a similar ’47 Mercury 268ci block. The only liberty he took was converting the electrical system to 12-volt. A repop ’32 radiator keeps it all cool.
In 2004, he was looking for a new roadster. He took an interest in and then bought a Model A, but a week later a good friend, Bud Garvey, told him that Woody’s old hot rod was going up for sale at a house auction. “I needed another roadster like I needed a hole in my head,” says Ruffner, “but I went and looked at it anyway. It was nearby, so I went over, and of course I liked what I saw.”
On the day of the sale he arrived when the roadster was on the block. He watched the bidding go up quickly. Even though it was missing its motor, radiator, and the wheels it wore in the HRM article, it was still a fetching ride. The selling price peaked right about where he thought it would. Ruffner watched the hammer fall without making a bid; he just couldn’t convince himself to buy two roadsters in one week.
The flathead is equipped with an Edelbrock intake, mounting two Stromberg 97s, and Edelbrock block-letter heads.
He went home with buyer’s remorse though, knowing he could have bought it, and possibly sold his other roadster. The next day he called his friend Dale Holder, who knew the auctioneer. He told him he was still interested in the roadster and wondered if he could call the auction house to make sure the deal went through. Well, lucky for Ruffner, the buyer backed out. It seemed like the little orange roadster was destined to become part of Ruffner’s hot rod collection after all. He set up an appointment to speak with Gary Brougher.
Now, Brougher wasn’t about to let this roadster go on the cheap. He had also read the HRM article on the car, and knew it had also been featured in the book 50 Years of Hot Rod, earning a full shot on the back cover. Ruffner let Brougher know he was a serious buyer and was aware of the roadster’s selling price at the auction. After laying the groundwork, Ruffner headed over to Bougher’s to make a deal. He took along good friend Denny Icardi, who was a skilled body man. He figured that Icardi could give him some good advice. Ruffner trusted Icardi’s opinion when it came to hot rods.
McDermott said that he got a deal on customizing the hood, paying 10 cents for each louver punched. Look closely and you can still see the penciled-in louver layout lines on the underside of the hood.
As the twosome walked into the room, Icardi glanced at the roadster. Without missing a step, he whispered, “Buy the car.”
So with that recommendation, Ruffner made a deal, and soon the roadster was coming home with him. “For $20,000, I thought it was a fair deal, and this was 15 years ago,” he says.
Rebirth Once Ruffner got the roadster home, he went right to work. First thing was to source the proper powerplant for the Ford. As it turned out, he had a perfect ’47 flathead sitting in his shop just waiting for a chance to run again. He opened it up and inspected it thoroughly. It was in excellent shape and didn’t need a rebuild, so he forged on. Ruffner found the correct Edelbrock 2×2 intake and set it up with a pair of 97s. He bought a new ’32 radiator to replace the missing piece, and then converted the electrical system to 12-volt. To finish off the roadster’s HRM look, he purchased four new chrome wheels (the hubcaps came with the car) and shod them in period-correct Coker repop Firestone rubber.
Not much has changed here over the last half-century. The original Jim Gaylord upholstery is in good shape. Although it is stained, it still shows well. For steering, the roadster uses a ’35 Willys setup, complete from box to wheel.
Everything else on the roadster was pretty much as it was in 1953. The Barris lacquer paint job was showing its age, but the patina is just spot on. Bill Gaylord’s interior is still rather nice, as the years of storage and little use didn’t hurt it a bit. The suspension is still the way it was in 1953.
The roadster also still had its early-1950s fabricated exhaust, built with small steel mufflers and “accordion style” wrinkle pipes. Strangely enough, the exhaust is directly fastened to the frame out back, without hangers. “It works perfectly,” says Ruffner, possibly due to the give of the wrinkle pipes up front.
The dash was created by inverting a stock Auburn piece, so it’s concave rather than jutting outward in original convex style. It’s filled with its original gauges.
The only real change that he made to the car was the addition of seatbelts and turn signals to make the Ford street-legal in Pennsylvania.
This Model A joins a bevy of other hot rods in his collection. “I’ve got a ’29 phaeton with a ’49 Caddy motor and LaSalle trans that I’ve driven to Bonneville twice from Pennsylvania,” he says. That’s 2,000 miles in an open tub with no top; a pretty incredible feat. The other cars in Ruffner’s garage are a ’33 coupe with a ’49 Cadillac motor, a ’30 roadster with a flathead, and a ’41 Ford truck with another ’53 Caddy motor. They are all traditional-style hot rods. “I’m building a Vicky now,” he says excitedly.
This historic roadster gets ample road time every year. Ruffner can be seen quite often careening through the hills just outside Pittsburgh and making the rounds at the area’s top shows. We spied him and the roadster at the Jalopy Showdown, where the car constantly had a throng of gawkers around it. He answered questions and made new acquaintances, all while touting the orange-hued prize that he first spied as a youngster at the local speed shop. It was kismet. It was just meant to be.
The original 16-inch chrome wheels were missing when Ruffner bought the car, so he sourced a new set. Luckily the original hubcaps were with the car and were reinstalled. For rubber, he picked up a set of Coker repop Firestones to wrap around the new rims.
Ruffner decided he liked the look of the car fenderless. He never reinstalled the fenders, each made from a Buick spare tire cover.
At 81 years young, Ruffner is a spry hot rodder. And he’s still at it, building traditional rides in his home garage outside Pittsburgh.
Subtle modifications can be seen executed on the Model A. The filled-in rear decklid is understated but effective, cleaning up the lines out back. The MG rear bumper is another stylistic touch that builder Jack McDermott was quite proud of, stating in the HRM article that he “stumbled on a deal, and got it for half price.” A set of ’39 Ford taillights finishes off the look.

Prop2 Class 2: Mechanics of Adverse Possession
Today we will cover Howard v. Kunto (pronounced Koonto, please), O’Keeffe v. Snyder, and adverse possession against the government.
Today’s lecture notes are here.
Howard v. Kunto
This is the Hood Canal, the site of Howard v. Kunto.
Here are some maps that help explain this case.
Texas law allows tacking. Section 16.023:
Sec. 16.023.  TACKING OF SUCCESSIVE INTERESTS.  To satisfy a limitations period, peaceable and adverse possession does not need to continue in the same person, but there must be privity of estate between each holder and his successor.
Texas law allows disabilities in a few situations. Section 16.001.
Sec. 16.001.  EFFECT OF DISABILITY.
(a)  For the purposes of this subchapter, a person is under a legal disability if the person is:
(1)  younger than 18 years of age, regardless of whether the person is married;  or
(2)  of unsound mind.
(b)  If a person entitled to bring a personal action is under a legal disability when the cause of action accrues, the time of the disability is not included in a limitations period.
(c)  A person may not tack one legal disability to another to extend a limitations period.
(d)  A disability that arises after a limitations period starts does not suspend the running of the period.
Adverse Possession Against the Government
Here is a 2008 NY Times story discussing a person’s attempt to adversely possess land from the government.
In a city where nearly every millimeter of land is spoken for, Darren Miller thought that he could grab nearly 10 acres at no cost, throw a fence around it and run a lucrative business from it. And that no one would care.
He didn’t even try to keep it a secret. According to prosecutors, Mr. Miller allowed hundreds of truck drivers to park on his annexed land in south Brooklyn, charging them a few hundred dollars a month for the space (“The best deal in town,” one trucker said).
The authorities said that Mr. Miller also ran a “chop shop” and used the land as a dumping ground for construction debris. He kept a sign on the his fence: “No trespassing. Violators will be prosecuted.”
On Wednesday, it was Mr. Miller, 47, of Queens, who was facing prosecution, on charges that included trespassing, illegally dumping toxic waste, and dismantling cars without a license, all on land that prosecutors said belonged not to him, but to the city, the state and a private developer.
Mr. Miller’s lawyer, Vincent M. Gerardi, said his client’s claim to the land was sound, and based on the legal doctrine of “adverse possession,” in which someone can claim title to property he has used for a specified number of years. Mr. Miller, his lawyer said, is a small-business owner who simply made good use of a wasted patch of land.
That land is worth more than $200 million, and the city has plans for it, prosecutors said. The Brooklyn district attorney, Charles J. Hynes, said that Mr. Miller, who pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court, had given “new meaning to the word chutzpah.”
According to Mr. Gerardi, Mr. Miller, who operates his own dump truck, has been using the parcel since 1995. In August 2005, the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development sent Mr. Miller a letter saying that he was illegally occupying the property.
He responded that he was claiming the land, which he had “enclosed and maintained” for “over 10 years,” Mr. Gerardi said. Under the law, claims of adverse possession can be made if an individual uses someone else’s property continuously for 10 years.
But city lawyers assert that such claims cannot be made against land “acquired for a public purpose.” In court papers, the city’s Law Department said that the disputed parcel was obtained by the city in 1968 through condemnation for the Fresh Creek Urban Renewal Project. To make matters more complicated, though the city owns most of the parcel, some parts belong to the state and others to a private developer, the authorities said.
Since 2005, when the housing department notified Mr. Miller that he was illegally occupying city property, he and city agencies have fought two battles in the courts. Whether he can claim title to the land is still being decided. His arrest on Tuesday was the result of separate legal action to stop him from using the lot as a dump.
Ultimately, Miller was convicted.

This story proves the value of an accurate survey–a $700,00 was built on the wrong lot!
Six months after building a large custom house with an ocean view, Missouri residents Mark and Brenda Voss learned of a big problem – it’s on the wrong lot.
Their three-story vacation rental house with an estimated construction value of $680,000 actually sits on the lot next to the one they own in the gated Ocean Hammock resort community.
How did this happen? A mistaken survey.
The Vosses, who own 18 other residential lots in the Hammock Dunes master-planned community, paid $160,000 for one with a street address of 23 Ocean Ridge Blvd. North in June 2012, according to Flagler County property records. They hired Keystone Homes to design and build a 5,000-square-foot house there to use as a vacation rental managed by Vacation Rental Pros in St. Augustine.
The builder and Voss each say the error can be traced to the first survey in 2013. East Coast Land Surveying in Ormond Beach misplaced stakes, and the foundation survey and other documents and building activity were based on the error. During construction, dozens of subcontractors arrived each day to work at the wrong lot. And a final survey failed to note the error.
“We require a preliminary plat, foundation and final survey and they all indicate it’s the right lot where the house sits,” said Mark Boyce, Flagler County’s chief building official. “We rely on the surveyor. They are state licensed professionals and we count on them to get it right.”
Calls to East Coast Land Surveying last week were unreturned.
It was another survey who discovered the problem.
It wasn’t until September, six months after the Voss house was completed, that a survey crew working nearby uncovered the error and notified the community manager, who then called Keystone Homes.
And because they are aware of this error, there is no chance they could ever claim an adverse possession.

Do you know of any auto insurance companies that don't base your rates on your credit report?
Due to an illness/ disability in our family, despite having health insurance, we still owe thousands in medical bills. Those that would not work with us turned them into collection. They now show on our credit report. Despite being insured for both our auto insurance and our home insurance for 20+ year with the same insurance company, we got a notice saying our auto insurance had gone up hundreds of dollars per year based on a credit report they obtained. We have never had an accident, ticket, etc. and the amount automatically comes out of our checking each month. Plus, last year, prior to this, they switched us to a preferred group within the company and gave us a discount when we threatened to switch. How can I find out which insurance companies base your insurance rates on your credit report and or score? Will they tell you outright? This is the first I have ever known that our company did this and was wondering if all of them do it, or do you just know about it when you get a notice like we did? I get their reasoning but it seems like such a rip off when so many are in our boat- insured but with insurance that is starting to pay less and less and cost more. Plus, they have our checking account and if we were not to pay, they wouldn't be responsible for us if we had an accident anyway. Seems like a double whammy to me. Can anyone help?""

What type of insurance is better: private healthcare insurance or union insurance?
I used to have Kaiser Permanente but now I'm on a union healthcare plan because my mom works at a grocery store. I used to always be able to see a therapist a few times a month no problem when I had Kaiser, but with the union insurance I tried to go and after a few months it sucked up all the money in our insurance and we couldn't go to see any more doctors until the next year. Should I switch back to Kaiser? I'm mostly concerned with being able to see a therapist a few times a month, maybe a dermatologist a few times a year(currently I'm being treated for my acne), and being able to get contacts and a yearly eye exam(which I can do with my current insurance) and also being able to see a good dentist biannually(I can also do this with my current insurance) So pretty much all I'm missing is the mental health care I want! Would Kaiser be able to provide me all of this? Thanks in advance for any helpful input""

How do I find a good Health Insurance Agent In Texas?
Back in California where I am from I had a great Health insurance agent. He took care of everything. My health insuranc, home insurance, life insurance and auto Insurance. I get to Houston Texas and find out that most agents either deal with home and auto or life and health insurance. I now have a freat home and auto insurance agent but he does not deal with health insurance. His reason. He does not have time to keep updated with current trends in health insurance so he does not believe he would be a good health agent. I appreciate his honest but it kinda leaves me hanging. Does anyone have any agents they can recommend?""

How much is car insurance for a 17 year old girl?
I am nearly 17 and am really excited about learning to drive. I would really like to be driving my own car by the end of the year, however I'd really like to know how much car insurance is going to be for me, so that I can save up a little. Every time I go onto any car insurance website, it asks for my car registration and when I passed my test, which obviously I haven't done yet, so it seems really pointless, and there's no way of avoiding or trying to 'trick' it. Does anyone have any ideas of how much roughly it costs, for a 17 year old girl if your living in England?""

How to get best fair settlement from car insurance company for 1996 corolla?
Hi: My 1996 toyota corolla was hit by another car in the rear on the passenger side. My car was in excellent condition, everything worked, nothing broken, no rust (paint in excellent condition as it is always in my garage at home or in a covered parking lot at my workplace), low mileage (130K), never had a problem and I am the original, sole owner and driver of the car. I was planning to keep driving it for years to come. Now the insurance company wants to total my car and what they are offering for my car /their initial proposed settlement of $3500is not nearly enough to buy another car in the same excellent, safe and reliable condition, that is not riddled with hidden problems. This presents a big problem for me as, if I cannot have my car fixed and restored to the same condition as before the crash, I would have to come up with at least $12K to $15K to buy another new safe, reliable economy car. This is an expense that was not in my plans. Also, the insurance company is pushing me to make a hasty decision and is threatening me with not paying for the car rental I needed to get (since my car cannot be driven as the tail light is broken and and rain would get in the car). Is there any way that the insurance company can be prevented from totaling my car and instead pay for properly fixing the car with good OEM parts instead of used (LKQ) parts. I got several estimates, two for around $5K and one for around $7K (this one is from an excellent body shop that has done excellent work on my other previous cars before). The insurance company provided and estimate for $4k using used/LKQ parts. I would appreciate any advice on how to get the best settlement from the insurance company.""

Is car insurance fair?
Let's say you're financially stable, and a very safe driver. Is it fair to make EVERYONE pay for car insurance? Wouldn't it be more fair to have car insurance companies hold your money in case of an accident, then you get your money back if you don't get in an accident by the time you switch companies or are too old to drive? It seems like good drivers are paying for the damage done by bad drivers.""
