One of the things that I love about Stede Bonnet is that the world tried to make him mean and didn’t succeed. It hurt him and kicked him and told him to be smaller than he was, to be less than he was, that he didn’t deserve what he wanted but had to accept what he was given. And instead of becoming cruel and hard, he stayed kind. Through all of it, he stayed kind, and eventually found people who loved him so much for that kindness.

He’s a special little guy.
