On December 21, Jupiter and Saturn will treat sky gazers to a spectacular celestial event, as they align in a rare conjunction not witnessed in almost 800 years. This cosmic phenomenon, known as a great conjunction, will see the two gas giants appear remarkably close in the night sky, resembling a single, brilliant point of light.
According to Professor Patrick Hartigan, an expert in physics and astronomy at Rice University, this conjunction is truly exceptional, with Jupiter and Saturn approaching each other so closely that they may appear as a single entity to the naked eye. The last time such a close alignment occurred was on March 4, 1226, making this event a remarkable spectacle for astronomers and enthusiasts alike.
To witness this awe-inspiring sight, observers will need to look towards the southwestern horizon shortly after sunset on the night of the winter solstice. However, viewing conditions may vary depending on location, with observers closer to the equator having the best visibility. Those residing in the U.S., Canada, and Europe may find it challenging to see the conjunction due to its low position on the horizon and potential atmospheric haze.
Despite the difficulties in viewing, this celestial event presents a unique opportunity to witness a rare astronomical occurrence. The sight of Jupiter and Saturn appearing in such close proximity is a testament to the wonders of the cosmos and serves as a captivating reminder of the beauty of the universe.
For those unable to witness the conjunction on December 21, the event will continue from December 17 to 25, with the planets reaching their closest point on the solstice. However, the next opportunity to see Jupiter and Saturn in such close alignment won't occur until March 15, 2080, making this a truly once-in-a-lifetime event.
As we marvel at the celestial ballet unfolding above, let us find solace and wonder in the majesty of the natural world, offering a welcome distraction and a moment of awe during uncertain times.

Keep Looking Up!
After the recap, Leo starts the ARC-V's process. He states capsules, and the ARC-V reactor are connected, the machine is now at an accelerated state, and will soon swallow all the four dimensions.
Yuya states he doesn't care about ARC-V or Ray, but Leo cannot be forgiven for what he has done to Bracelet Girls.
Yuya asks Reiji to do this with him, Reiji obliges. Yuto reminds Yuya of Z-ARC, Yuya states he won't be awoken unless they lose their calm. Yuto states they need to hurry to save the girls.
Yuya starts with Gazer magicians. Yuya's Summon of Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon reminds Leo of Odd-Eyes Dragon in the past.
Yusho has a flashback about Yuya, saying how the values he imprinted on him will help him. But he starts questioning when he started to believe his own egaoist ideology.
Yusho has a flashback with Shuzo, he is without his stubble here. As Shuzo changes Yuzu's diapers, Yusho asks where his wife is, and why he is doing this alone. Shuzo states he has long forgotten about it, and states Yuzu has no mother, but a gift from God. Yusho states he didn't think too deeply about this back then. He states he is not even sure of that memory.
Yusho wonders what Shuzo told about his presumed wife. He starts wondering what he and Yoko were doing back when Yuya was born... then realizes those day-to-day memories may not have happened.
This brief interlude is largely a red-herring. The kids were indeed kids back then, even if they were not biologically born, but the parents who assumed the children had their memories "hazed" a bit to make them believe they were. But they were still raised by the parents assigned to them, right from the start.
Yusho's memories are being screwed mostly because of the interdimensional merger.
Reiji starts his multi-Summon. Girls comment on it, Rin comments on his Tuner monster, and Synchro. Ruri comments on Reiji's Xyz Summon.
Leo commends Reiji's multi-Summons from Pendulum, stating he took arms while he was gone. Reiji states its too early to commend, and seals Leo's ED Summons.
A brief break, Leo's Deck supposedly has all Summoning methods, even though we only see the Fusion, which is not in this episode. This is kind of important, since this Deck will likely be printed soon.
Yuya, and Yuto are happy about this, Reiji taunts Leo to break his wall. Leo states such self confidence, and continues his talk about Yuya being Z-ARC. Reiji does not budge. Yuya states he and Yuto will keep Z-ARC in check.
Reiji states Yuya is his friend, and Leo's ego is what threatening Z-ARC's revival. Leo states Z-ARC will try to revive anyway.
Yuya states Yuto has the same egaoist ideology as him, he will stop Z-ARC, and protect the girls. Yuzu is happy about this, Ruri makes a comment about how Yuto kept his promise to her. Yuto states her words were what supporting him.
Leo starts his Pendulum. Reiji, and Yuya are shocked. So is Yusho.
A bit of a break here, we will talk about this more in detail, but in the very first episode of the show, Yuya's Pendulum Summon did not break any of Leo Corporation's equipment, meaning in the original plot of the show, Leo was supposed to know how Pendulums work way back from Zarc, and Ray's earlier prototype designs of Pendulums from the United World. This doesn't quite work with the current canon of the show, but that was the original idea it seems, quite obviously in fact.
In the current canon, Leo presumably learned about this through Academia's datasets.
Yuzu, and Serena note how Leo can't Pendulum with same scales, but Leo copies Timegazer's scale. Yuya is distressed about this.
A brief break here. Leo's Spirit Crystal monsters, while not the full set, are supposed to be based off Paracelsus's Elemental Spirits:
These are the same basis as Vector's "V" cards, though Leo's Deck references Amnael's Alchemy Deck.
Pendulum Governor is seemingly based on one of the archangels, presumably Michael. Much like Pendulum Ruler, it has several mechanical pins that look like angel choirs.
Leo destroys Odd-Eyes, and Reiji's Fusion, undoing his ED Summon seal. Leo states they cannot do anything, and he will stop Z-ARC's resurrection.
Leo states Reiji's leadership was laudable, but states Lancers only had one strategy against Academia, and didn't consider they might exceed his expectations. Leo states, for someone at the top of the corporate chain, this was immature.
We cut to Edo, and Kaito. Kaito wonders if Doktor was controlling him. Edo states they need to chase them either way.
The capsules start working. Girls are scared. Leo is gloating. Yuya, and Yuto get angry, and lose control.
Leo states Reiji should do it now (referring to ending Yuya), and states he should do it to save the divided world. Z-ARC, in control of Yuya, asks Leo who caused that, and he is merely meeting people's expectations for a more violent Duel.
Reira is disturbed by Yuya's anger, Leo states that was Z-ARC, Yuzu doesn't believe him. Leo continues to try to bring Reiji to his side. Yuya, after Reiji's comment, tries to keep Z-ARC in check with Yuto.
Yusho starts wondering about Yuya-Z-ARC connection.
Yuya Pendulum Summons, and demands Leo to stop. Yusho wonders why Z-ARC is trying to revive.
Yuya states he will defeat Leo for sure for making Yuzu scared, and loses control once more.
Yuya Summons Gatlinghoul. Yusho gets that Z-ARC is trying to revive to return to his former self.
A brief note on Gatlinghoul, it is mixture of Mr. Hyde, and Paul Muni's depiction of Scarface in the 1932 version. Of course, 1983 version takes place in Miami (though the original presumably takes place in Chicago), which is the inspiration of Maiami City, Yuya's home town.
As Yuya attacks Leo, Yusho states Z-ARC was the strongest Duelist, and he is doing this to regain his former status. After this, Yusho wonders if Z-ARC chose him to be resurrected as a Duelist, so he can be used to raise his avatar to awaken him.
Yuya tries to use Gatlinghoul's second effect to finish the Duel, the girls note about this. Yusho states if his assumptions are correct, he unwittingly helped Z-ARC's revival.
Next episode will continue the Leo Duel.
That's the episode, here's the meta.
Leo's Alchemy Deck is of course a reference to Amnael from GX, who was using multiple bodies to keep his soul alive. As Leo's Pendulum Summon chant suggests, Leo's Deck is about the spiritual aspects of alchemy as a form of purification from sin.
As seen on Spirit Reactor's artwork, though, the Spirit Techs also serve as spirit capture devices, which makes sense as Leo is trying to get Ray's essence back. It also makes sense considering the Alchemy theme of GX, and its association with Fusion.
Gatlinghoul's Mr. Hyde allusion is obvious, Z-ARC is Mr. Hyde to Yuya's Dr. Jekyll, but the Scarface allusions are probably more on the nose, since both Scarfaces are about a criminal from poor conditions getting mad with power by reaching to the top too quickly, and being unable to keep the power for long.
More details about the original 1932 Scarface.
Most of the stuff involving Yusho here are red herrings, as we will find out later. Unclear if the whole "did Z-ARC plan everything" red herring is a joke reference to Shin Yoshida's plots, or Zorc being implied to be connected to many seemingly random events in manga, and animé in DM, beyond its primary purpose of artificially increasing the tension.
Bulk of Leo's Deck is LIGHT Attribute, and have a heavenly theme, hence why Reiji doesn't have any LIGHT monster, and are mostly Demons. It is unclear if this will continue, but so far it has.
Until Z-ARC Leo will be our final Pendulum using antagonist, hence why Yuri will be retroactively be given Pendulums for his animé Deck, in Dimension Force.
Bracelet Girls are given a fair amount of commentary role here, since they won't be relevant very soon. So this is kind of their final hurrah.
The ambiguity of Shuzo's comments makes one wonder if Shuzo had some sort of heartbreak, though within the context of show, it only serves as something to temporarily to deepen the mystery, which will be cleared soon.
Yuya's comments about Ray, and ARC-V reactor are funny, since Ray will literally become his Link Monster as Beyond the Pendulum, and the current opening has Yuya chilling in the United World. Yuya's comments continue to backfire against him.

@sea-of-haze said: "Haru-san, what's the name of that cloud again?"
identifying clouds was not part of the kakushi’s expertise as he was never much of a cloud gazer. flowers & plant life were more eye-catching than the floating ice crystals in the sky above them in his experience. haru knew that clouds did not just have a singular form but could manifest themselves into various appearances. the mist hashira seemed fascinated by them, but they were able to take away his attention from the conversation or task at hand. the older boy has heard from his coworkers that lord tokito was able to predict the weather just by staring at the clouds, but that could have been just a rumor.
❝ those are cumulous clouds if i’m not mistaken. you can tell that they are by their fluffy appearance. they typically appear earlier in the day when it’s sunny. they look just like cotton wool, don’t they, tokito-sama? ❞
"Silently one by one in the infinite
meadows of heaven blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the
angels."
Sun is the nearest star about 93,000,000 miles away. If we could fly thirty miles an hour and should set out for the sun, not pausing for
rest night or day, we should reach our destination in 345 years!
The earth
is
merely "the second-rate satellite of a second-rate star!"
The solar system alone
is
over 5,000
millions of miles in diameter.
In the entire stellar system there are probably about 500,000,000 stars.
Between the earth and Alpha-Centauri (invisible
only in southern latitudes) stretches an immense
desert of space, twenty
five billions of miles
across.
Professor Ball says that it would
take 300,000 years of ceaseless counting day
and night even to count that num'ber of miles. It takes light four years to come from
this star to the earth.
If we could view our own Earth from mirrors reflected in the
stars, we might still see Moses crossing the Red
Sea, or
Adam
and Eve being expelled from
Eden!"
To measure the distance of a star from the
Earth. The
process merely involves taking certain angular
measurements on the sky, and applying to them
certain
simple theorems
well-known to
the
student of trigonometry.
Right here
is
called
into use a certain high-sounding astronomical
term
—
parallax.
The parallax
of a distant point is the angle made by the crossing of two
lines of vision directed one at each
side of the object
Heliometer for making angular measurements on the sky.
The farthermost object known in the heavens is a globular star-cluster at a distance of 1,260 quadrillion
miles.
It
takes
about four years to come from Alpha-Centauri.
Light reaches us from :
61 Cygni, our
first
star to be measuredat a distance of fifty-three billions of miles away, in about seven years
;
Fom Sirius, the most brilliant star in the
sky, fifty-eight billions of miles distant, in eight
years.
A little
over twenty-nine years
in reaching us from Aldebaran, "the Bull's eye";
Forty-four years to come from the Pole
star;
And over two hundred years to travel from
Arcturus, the brightest star in the northern
constellation of Bootes, the Herdsman.
Speaking
of this
enormous sun of space, Serviss says:
"Imagine the earth and other planets constituting the solar system removed to Arcturus and
set revolving round it in orbits of the same forms
and sizes as those in which they circle about the
Sun.
Poor Mercury!
For that little
planet
it
would indeed be a jump from the frying pan
into the
fire,
because as
it
rushed toperihelion,
the point of
its orbit nearest the Sun, Mercury
would plunge more than 2,500,000 miles beneath
the surface of the giant star.
Venus and the
Earth would melt like snowflakes at the mouth a furnace.
Even far-away Neptune would
swelter in torrid heat."
"One
star differeth from another
star in glory."
Not only are the stars to be
found at all distances, but they vary in size,
and frequently their marvelous immensity
is
even more overwhelming than their distance.
Thanks to the spectroscope we
not only know of what the stars are made, but
we are able to discern that they revolve in orbits.
"The
constellation Orion preserves throughout the ages
its
well-known form.
Similarly the Plow
shines down on us to-day as it
did on the kingdom of Israel and on the plains of Troy. So
that for all practical purposes we
are correct
in
speaking
of
the
fixed
stars.
And
yet,
scientifically speaking, we are wrong.
The stars
are no more fixed than are the planets.
Indeed,
many
of the stars are moving through space
with a velocity far greater than the swiftest of
the planets.
For example, 61 Cygni moves
at the rate of thirty miles per second; while
the bright star Arcturus has been calculated
to have a velocity of no less than 376 miles per
second.
But
so distant are the stars, so
deep are they sunk in the depths of space, that
in the course of hundreds, even thousands of
years, the casual star-gazer can detect no
difference in their positions."
Our own Sun, with his
system of worlds,
is
moving along at the rate
of eleven miles per second toward the constellation of Lyra, aiming apparently for the star
known as Delta-Lyrse.
The spectroscope
is
to show
us that the stars are not all moving in the same
direction.
For example, the brilliant star Aldebaran is
speeding away from our system at the
astonishing rate of thirty miles per second.
Some
stars share "their proper motions with
others."
That is
they move along at the same
rate as some other neighboring star or stars.
For instance, five of the seven stars which make
up the familiar constellation of the Big Dipper
are moving with the same velocity and in the
same direction, and it is apparent that they form
one star-system, even though they are separated from one another by
billions of miles.
A certain
German astronomer fixed
upon the constellation of Perseus as the center
of the stellar universe; another of his countrymen believed he had found conclusive evidence
that the stars all centered around Alcyone, the
chief star of the Pleiades.
Professor Garret P. Serviss, who sees the great
Milky Way driving through space, "like a flat
shining raft, built up of hundreds of millions
of stars
our little Sun being lost among them
and drawing in from, either side,
and from distances of hundreds of quadrillions of miles,
vast stellar organisms, of a globular shape, on
which it
feeds and grows, while from before
it,
like frightened flocks of strange winged creatures, hatched in the midst of the mysterious and boundless ether, flee the spiral nebulae, speeding
madly on—on–on."
Temporary
stars, as they are called, rose from
a violent collision between two heavenly bodies.
The spectroscope, by analyzing the flame produced, not only showed this highly improbable,
but suggested what is now universally accepted
as the real solution, that two stars in their journey through space happen into a nebulous region,
and thus flare up by reason of friction—a theory
that
is
further supported by the fact that temporary stars seem, nearly always to be involved
with a nebulous haze.
Many
instances of temporary stars are on record, one of the earliest having been seen by
Hipparchus, the famous Greek astronomer, in
the year 134 B. C.
One
of the most notable
heavenly conflagrations took place in May, 1866,
when an ordinary telescopic star suddenly
blazed forth with such intensity that in a few
hours
it
increased
its brilliance nearly a thousand fold.
Careful spectroscopic study of
its phenomena showed that the outburst was due
to an explosion of hydrogen gas, and the incident caused no
little
uneasiness everywhere.
An Edinburgh astronomer, thus voicing
the fear of all: "Not only would all the various
forms of life on Earth be utterly destroyed, but
on
all the members of our solar system there
would be such a change effected, that if any life existed even on the remote Neptune
it would
at once be completely extinguished. Probably
the life that existed on the whole system of
worlds that circled round this distant star must
have been annihilated, and as the heat and light
of this star increased so very suddenly, there could have been given but short warning to the
inhabitants of these worlds."
Temporary stars only blaze up once and then
die down, but there
is
another class, called
variable stars,
which are quite as remarkable,
and have given astronomers even more
difficult
hours to account for their peculiarity.
These
stars get brighter and brighter up to a certain
point, then wane, only to brighten again, with
a regularity that can be reckoned with the utmost
accuracy.
Some go through their course in
three days, others take much longer, the maximum being 600 days.
Lots of people ask me how I shoot certian things o I figured I’d explain this one all the way though. Spending the week in #tulum shooting at @ahautulum It always nice when you look at @photopills (a must for anyone trying to shoot the #milkyway ) and it tells you the #galaxy is visible right when you are looking at your phone and the #sky Check our second photo in this set. Now the thing about tulum and shooting #stars is that there is a lot of humidity and haze in the air from the ocean. So it’s not even all that easy to see the Milky Way with your eyes (and add to that a little bit of hotel light pollution). However you put #photopills app into augmented reality more (see third photo) and that’s where the Milky Way is. Set your camera right : for this I am shooting with a #sonya7riv and using a #sony1635gm lens the lens was set to 16mm and 2.8 aperture. I exposed at iso 1250 for about 15 seconds for the hotel. Now here is the little liberty I allowed myself. The Milky Way as per PhotoPills was almost directly over head but about 9 o’clock if the hotel is 12 o’clock. So I shot the Milky Way in a slightly different direction and then brought it into this frame. The photo of the Milky Way is taken at the exact same time as hotel at the same place. But just pointing the camera about 40 degrees to the right (where it’s actually a lot darker since the hotel lights don’t shine in that direction. I really liked the Milky Way over the hotel so I moved it a little. My personal belief is that if you plate the sky in the same location and somewhat the same time. Than it’s fair game. If it’s comped completely from a sky from another part of the world it can look wonky because of the angle the galaxy is at changes with latitude. There is nothing wrong with that but expert star gazers can tell. This one technically is in the wrong direction of the sky for this place. But it’s from here. The #clouds actually looked like that. Reflecting light from town. Surreal looking. Hope this was enjoyable #star #nightphotography #astrophotography #longexposure #nightscape #stargazing #tulum (at Ahau Tulum) https://www.instagram.com/p/B35y-G2nsSR/?igshid=ep3zh8vi0log
