Fun fact abt me: three of my four tarot decks are related to a piece of media I like. One is nightvale merch (the Hayworth deck), one is by mstief (Raven Prophecy deck) and one is by Tillie Walden, author of my favourite comic book ,,On A Sunbeam" (Cosmic Slumber deck).

New video is up! This week, I set up my Welcome to Night Vale Hayworth Tarot Deck to play solitaire! (Alas, when the video of actually PLAYING solitaire goes up, it will be with a different deal than the video ends with, because I kept getting interrupted mid-game!)

(I love this idea, and I'm intrigued at what you'd say if my characters were the ones to ask questions. It's a good exercise getting in their heads like this, too. If it's cool, I'd like to do this with my four MCs, please. I'll start with my space himbo pilot and favorite character. :) )

*ahem* Uh, Hi. *takes a seat* Nice place. Cozy. *ahem* Right. Um, my name is Yune, Yune Darrak, I'm a pilot, and uh, yeah, I got strong-armed into this by an Ai Hiri and two ten-year olds. I don't really believe in this kind of thing, but Selka said it might help 'clear out my head.' She says I'm *air quotes* "Conflicted" - whatever that means.

Right, right, I can see that look. I guess... Ever since I met those kids my life's been one chaos event after another. I've never questioned who I am, or the world more in my life. I'm a defective mik-human. I know that. I was born and raised on Mikra, so why do I resonate more with these two mini-nerds than I ever did with my own people? I'm a mik, but I've never felt like I belonged on that planet or with other mik. I know the way the world works and where I fit into it. I'm a salvager - I'm nothing. I came from nothing. These kids threw my life into a spiral and got me questioning everything I thought I knew - even my reoccurring nightmare is reoccurring more often. I thought I'd had that under control. Why? Why do Sparky and Squeaker seem to be the ones at the root of this inner conflict Selka says I have?

I won't let her look into my head, and if this makes her shut up and leave me alone about it, then 'the cards' it is.

Hm. Ethereal Visions has an uncanny valley vibe to it. I like it. Sure, why not. Let's go with that. Terra's probably going to pick that one when she gets in here. It has a lot of pink and purple. Ok, cards. Hit me. What's wrong with me?

Nadia nods at the end of her guest's speech, eyes glimmering. Gesturing to the couch opposite of her, she grabs the cardboard box at her side and opens it.

"Everyone is a skeptic today," she says under her breath as she starts to shuffle. Then, louder, "I sense two related questions within... all of that. Let's see if the cards agree."

In an instant, a card flies out of her hands and slides across the table.

"Huh. Okay."

Flipping it over elicits another shorter noise from her. She stares Yune in the face. If she were a more religious person, she'd be compelled to say the name of a deity in vain.

"Your problem is you are standing in the way of your own happiness," she says before pulling the card closer. "You have all the supplies needed to have this sort of reality." She taps the card for emphasis. "The Four of Wands suggests happiness and celebration, but your own demeanor and thought process is in exact contrast to that. You're focusing on the wrong things here. Sure, your life may currently be chaos, but the upheaval was needed to have a brighter, happier future."

With this, she gathers the card back up, cradling the deck in loose hands.

Nadia is frowning now. "As I thought," she says before beginning to shuffle once again. "This doesn't seem to answer everything. So how about an inquiry on your comrades, hmm?"

She begins to shuffle once again. There's no flinging of cards this time. Instead, she cuts the deck in half and gently draws.

The card she sets down next to the first depicts a half-dressed figure petting the mane of a docile lion.

"Where you see chaos," she says without looking up, "is actually an opportunity for strength.

"Strength," she says again, now meeting Yune's eyes. "Inner strength in particular. You aren't the things you wanted to be--that much is obvious. However, with the aid of these two kids turning your life over, you're finding a new sense of self. A new happiness."

Nadia leans back, the circles under her eyes somehow darker now. "My advice? Learn to give in to the chaos. You have the makings for something wonderful, if you let go of how you think you should be."

Been a while since I've posted my own art on here, but she's been done for a while. She's pretty heavily inspired by Jessica Hayworth, specifically her tarot designs for the Welcome to Night Vale deck. I just think they're neat :))

Artist statement: With this piece, I hope to show how even in the bleakest times we can find joy and optimism. I believe that everyone has the ability to heal and grow, even if the world around us is harsh and unforgiving. Even though the figure is in a hostile environment, they found the inner strength and hope to bring life back to a lifeless desert. The flowers I used in this piece are forget-me-nots for steadfastness, daffodils for rebirth and forgiveness, and morning glories for new beginnings.
