casual winx fans who haven't watched the seires since they were six will say shit like "agh i hate bloom she’s such a pick me 😩" bro i'm sorry your only percieved notion of the character is the utter assassination of her personality that was s4 and onward. that's my fucking "i will yell at you and throw fireballs until i burn your ass into a crisp" daughter be fucking respectful
Idk, Gavin is just fun character to analyse. I see him as the kind of a person who'll search for things that he know will make him angry, like you know, those people who are haters for fun, those who'll watch compilations of videos with keywords "roasted" in it or some shit.
And his version of falling in love is absolutely hilarious: it's when a person makes him so angry, he starts to stalk their online presence just to find more reasons to hate on them. It becomes an obsession to search about them, read their posts, eventually this person becomes everything he can think about. He hates them SO MUCH, everything about them is just so fucking infuriating, he can't throw the person out of his head, and eventually he has to admit, that this interest is beyond just hate. He needs this person, fuck he can't help but he wants this person so bad. Whenever he'll see this person his heart would start to race, and it's hard to tell, if it's because they annoy Gavin so much or is it because at this point he's hopelessly in love with them. It's actually the second one and he'll know that. And this knowledge will infuriate him even more.
so, i'd been stalking your blog in silence for the past few days/weeks because i used to be a huge fan of LO (i paid patron, was on the discord, own merch and a volume, spent money on fast past for over FOUR years). but as it happened to most fans, i got frustrated and gave up fastpass, and for a while i was trying to stay away from LO critiques because it just made me mad to realize something that was a comfort thing for me was bad all along (and i didn't wanna go full blown anti-LO) but i just finished reading your analysis on the mid-season finale and oh my god dude.
the retcon on how persephone feels about apollo after over 4 years of seeing her hate him because of what he did nearly pushed me over the edge. i feel sick to my stomach, this has to be among the worst things rachel has done and i just wanna say thank you for bringing it up and talking about it so eloquently. i'm a victim of SA and its comforting to see people in the fandom take it as seriously as it should be.
also LO rekindled is a breath of fresh air, thank you for creating it and putting so much work into it <3
Aw man, it's wild when I see people go through the pipeline of realizing LO has issues, mostly because it's a common attack on the critical community that everyone in it are just a bunch of "trolls and haters", but really, a lot of us started in the same boat as you, myself included. I unfortunately just missed the Patreon era, but I remember when I was a diehard fan of LO, it was one of the biggest facets of my friendship with the person who introduced me to it, I would literally be swiping my app refreshing it over and over again in the last seconds leading up to new updates trying to get the episode to just load, I drew fanart, I even did a tattoo of it once for that same friend who got me into it, and yes, I was really pissed that there was an anti community surrounding it.
It's crazy to think back on those times. I do miss how the comic used to make me feel, but at the same time, I know there's no going back to that time so I try to make the best of what I have now within the critic community, and what I've gained since then in terms of dissecting and discussing literature.
I feel so much for your feelings regarding the SA plot, I'm also a victim of SA so it was one of the biggest plot points that drew me into the comic in the first place, so it was really hard to truly realize what the series had become as the SA plotline took a backseat and the characterizations fell apart. It felt like something that I had gone through - and many others who also related to Persephone's struggles - was being used for cheap drama and that feels especially apparent now with how the series seems to be backpedaling it, or at least, replacing it with different motivations to make Apollo the villain, almost like it's an attempt to distract us from the SA and make us want to see his downfall for reasons that Rachel can quantify in a more black and white "good vs evil" kind of way.
I'm so glad you like Rekindled, I made it for people like you and I who loved LO once upon a time but mourn for what it once was before it turned into what it is now. It's been such a cathartic project for me and I'm so happy that others enjoy it too <3
If you haven't heard, Idubbbz aka Ian- who was known for making edgy content back in the early/mid 2010s- released an apology video for his old content yesterday. This is following several years of Ian steading moving away from his old persona and adopting a more laid-back, empathetic stance. A lot of people speculate that this is due in large part to his relationship with his wife, Anisa.
Personally, I think it's wonderful to see this kind of growth and change. So many edgy Youtubers from back in the day are basically full-on fash nowadays, with the best case scenario being that they're just the beginning of the alt-right pipeline. So for Ian to say "No, I don't want to be that person or provide that content anymore" is really cool.
But he's in a really lousy position, because tons of his former fans still show up every video to harass him for being a "cuck" or "simp" or saying that he's "L" and "soft" now. A lot of it hinges on Anisa, who has an OnlyFans and (iirc) has always been more progressive than Ian; most of Ian's haters are convinced that Anisa "brainwashed" Ian (gotta love that misogyny, it always has to be a woman's fault).
I know Ian technically brought this on himself by initially cultivating this kind of fanbase, but it's clear that he no longer wants to associate with these people and their toxic, bigoted bullshit. Like with this apology video he cannot make it more clear that he now disavows all the edgy, offensive they initially worshipped him for. Again, I'm a big believer in changing for the better so I love to see it.
Sorry, but Zendaya is not doing well. I hope she has a back-up plan. Her status is far from good right now and she doesn't even have anything in the pipeline. Her peers have way more than her. God forbid even Kaia has more acting roles than her.
She is losing followers on insta and she is not gaining followers even after a big film like Dune. There are a lot more haters than before and it doesn't look like her film will bring in much at the box office. Maybe she can become a housewife Or she can stay a model because her film career is not it!
Sorry, but Zendaya is not doing well.
Zendaya is doing JUST FINE. Dune 2 made a killing at the box office opening weekend.
Her peers have way more than her. God forbid even Kaia has more acting roles than her.
Chiiiiilllle....I know you're not trying to compare Nepobaby Kaia "Can't Act" Gerber to THEE Zendaya?? 😒
Seriously??🥴
Zendaya is a two-time Emmy WINNER. Kaia is playing bit parts.
Let's get real. 🙄
Zendaya has enough on her plate already. She had two films coming out this year, and who knows what she'll have announced later on. Not to mention, she's still supposedly doing the BMB biopic.
She is losing followers on insta and she is not gaining followers even after a big film like Dune.
Who cares about Instagram followers?? 🥴
Actors have been acting long before social media. Some actors don't even have instagram accounts and guess what? Ppl STILL see their movies, and they STILL win awards.
There are a lot more haters than before and it doesn't look like her film will bring in much at the box office. Maybe she can become a housewife Or she can stay a model because her film career is not it!
This is so ridiculous I don't even know why I'm spending time responding to this honestly. 😒
Not only is your comment SEXIST, but to assume that someone should just QUIT what they love to do simply because they have "haters" is just dumb. Zendaya is going to do whatever she wants to do thank you very much.
And btw, what actor doesn't have haters? Seriously! Serious question. What actor do you know out here that does NOT have someone hating on them at some point in their career? 🤔
The truth is, you can't name one. ALL actors have haters. That's unfortunately the type of sacrifice you make when you're in the public eye.
Us Zendaya fans are gonna ignore the silly nonsense and continue to support her. 😤
BTW, MOST people enjoyed Zendaya in Dune Part 2. Why focus on the few who didn't? 🥴

A filmmaker can't please everybody. That's impossible. 🤷🏾♀️
idk why people are saying that some butters fans are “shocked” that hes a girl-hater, we aren’t. some of us just don’t like it lmao 😭
yes, absolutely, the pipeline from optimistic and kind to cutthroat and mean is so real and interesting and i love it but the misogyny part to me is just…bleh. kinda shoehorned in to play into the “nice and sweet character says something fucked up every once in a while” thing.
“this character is traumatized beyond belief, abused in more than one way, and mentally broken down. his outgoing positive attitude deteriorates as the cycle of hate, ridicule, and unnecessary discipline continues. he has an alter ego who’s almost entire existence relies on venting his hardships and making the world aware of his pain. he has moments where he’s mean, shady, and crude. he’s internally so fucking pissed and he’s wounded so badly. oh, and he also calls girls bitches and sluts sometimes lol isnt that funny guys.”
idk. whatever tickles your pickle. if thats an aspect of his character you find intriguing then you do you!!! this is all just my personal opinion lol
you’re the best blog everr u always have every brocedes clip and 80% of the things i know about them are just from you 🙏🏼 also all ur posts and reposts about nico actually made me go from a slighttt hater to a full time fan and i love u for that bc now i don’t understand how i could’ve ever disliked him
not the slight hater to full time fan pipeline 😭😭😭 thank you for enjoying him with me 🥹💓
Tbh I'm Black and I thought people shipping Namor and Shuri were just a bunch of cidhet White reylos. And from what I'm seeing it is the same for a lot of us. It's time to accept that Black people are going to be divided in this matter, and that's okay we don't all think the same. But we aren't getting anywhere assuming the haters are just white by default
I used to live on tumblr more but now I live on TikTok more and I've seen nothing but Black women discussing this ship and I didn't even know there was controversy around it until I got literally attacked lol. It's also weird to assume someone is white, period. I usually only assume someone is white when they're, like, on Twitter saying some outrageous Far Right political shit but preface it with "As a Black man,". (Or I assume they're a bot.)
Like, it's out of left field, to me. Idk how other Black women are taking it, but it's crazy, like literally delusional and insane, to me, to assume that I would make this blog years and years and years ago and just elect to be one of the most underrepresented and disrespected demographics of comics fans and superhero movie fans for fun so that I could... disagree with the fans of a movie that wasn't even in the realm of existing, yet. Like, I'm a white Reylo (I don't even like Reylo, or Star Wars fans at all tbh). I played the long game, pretending to like Iris West and Misty Knight and Valkyrie and defending Anna Diop and all of that... just so I could sneak my white ass in to ship Shuri with a character y'all find distasteful? I remember a few years back when people were shipping Shuri with Bucky and a lot of people objected, but I don't remember this level of vitriol and I don't recall anyone just trying to strip long-standing blogs of their identity over it. Marvel fans have always had disagreements and shipping has always been one of the biggest ones, but I've never, in my life, felt so attacked over an opinion that I don't even hold that strongly. Like I said, I don't care about the ship that much. I only said it was fun. I don't see how shipping 2 fictional people, even lightly, even in passing, is antiblack. Antiblackness is such a bigger thing than "you shipped characters I don't like".
Usually, we're fighting the opposite, which is nobody shipping the Black characters at all, or not liking any ships with Black characters, or treating the Black characters in the ship like the psychologist for the non-Black characters in the ship. I ain't never seen no shit like this. I didn't know y'all didn't like antagonist/protagonist ships that hard. I didn't come on here to convince anyone of anything, I just came here because it's usually a fun place to geek out about these movies and things. But, no, it's not fun. Y'all are on here making huge judgements of people over shipping... like Ryan Coogler wrote it that way. Talk to him, if it bothers you that much.
But to question my entire identity, my family, my political leanings, my loyalty to my community? It's sick. Like, I can't even defend myself. If I start saying, like, I was literally getting tear gassed at BLM protests in 2020, I sound ridiculous. If I say ACAB, I sound like I'm trying too hard to convince y'all I'm Black. If I talk about actual Black American issues I care about, like the school to prison pipeline, I sound like I'm just bringing up talking points. But you guys get to decide I hate myself and other Black women because of Shuri and Namor, a fictional African princess and a fish man who were written into a screenplay. Like, what fucking sense does that make?
Like, none of this is real, but I am a real person behind this account. Y'all are making me physically ill over this.
