As the holiday season and end of the year approaches, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you - those who follow me, those who like/reblog/comment on my content, those who send me requests - and tell you how grateful I am to be a part of this fandom family. I may not reply to every comment or reblog, but I see it all and appreciate the support you have all given me this year. A very big chunk of what I create is from ideas you have sent me or discussed with me, so without you, much of what I create wouldn't exist. To those who have sent me requests and asks - thank you for your patience. I am not the fastest writer, so I appreciate your kindness.

I have some Thanksgiving Headcanons for the dads under the cut. I love them, your honor

Darryl: He wakes up early and does all the fixings. He does all of it himself because he's particular about the process. His episode 23 Dad Fact was that he names the turkey and treats it like a kitchen assistant, then pretends to be horrified all day for the bit. He makes "Peach Gobbler" for desert. Grant thinks it's cringe and doesn't like it. Nobody touches the bird until everyone is at the table together, even if Carol gets called in to work.

Henry: He sets up a Vegan Thanksgiving feast, but every year he makes sure to tell Lark and Sparrow how problematic Thanksgiving is, and calls it Family Day, or something similar, to justify having the feast. Mercedes' family from Ecuador visited only once, and after the gut upset from the sheer amount of Tofu, they never made the trip again. Lark and Sparrow get into a food fight every year, which may have been a factor in their decision.

Glenn: This is the last week he gets with Nick before he has to leave for Christmas Touring. He tries to make it great for Nick, and do the whole homemade feast thing for him, but he also knows he can only cook from a box. Starting on Monday, he practices cooking from scratch and fails miserably. He keeps trying up until the Thursday, when he makes stuffing from a box and reheats a precooked turkey. Nick loves it.

Jodie: He makes the whole meal. He lets Nicholas help him. Nicholas suggests adding more seasonings, and Jodie teaches him that too much seasoning can ruin a dish. Nicholas agrees, and the feast is finished. They serve it, and it's bland. The two of them agree that they used too many spices and that's why it isn't good. It happens every year, and Morgan laughs every time.

Ron: Ron never learned to cook. Every year, Samantha tries to teach him to make the feast (even though she's not great at it either) but they run out of time after one sidedish. They go out to eat at Applebees. Ron orders macaroni and cheese every time. Terry Jr. hates is, because Terry Senior would make a stunning spread and it's another way Ron failed him.

GEN 2:

Grant: Grant and Marco make the thanksgiving meal together, and have included age-appropriate meal prep for Lincoln since his adoption. Lincoln loves spending the time with his dads. Marco carves the bird every year after noticing that Grant seemed hollow after doing it himself.

Sparrow: Makes the meal himself. When Hero and Normal were younger, they'd be underfoot and make a mess. Anything they touched was awful, because Sparrow didn't know how to fix it, but everything else is immaculate. Hero doesn't like Thanksgiving, but Normal really likes having the whole family around, even if it can get a little tense. Lark doesn't attend, because Sparrow once promised that Henry wouldn't be there, but he was, and it was a disaster.

Nick: I maintain that Nick knows performance cooking. He only does it for special occasions, and this is one of them. He cooks for his family on the flat top, and makes a huge meal. None of it is traditional Thanksgiving fare, and that's the way he likes it. Taylor's eyes would light up at onion volcanoes.

Terry: On his first Thanksgiving with Scary and Veronica, he pulled out all the stops. He researched how to make the perfect feast, and made it perfectly efficient. Veronica was amazed and it made her fall for him even further, but Scary was disdainful of it. Terry will proceed to take them to restaurants (though it probably won't be applebees) in the future in hopes of making Scary more comfortable.

(Also Hermie eats three frozen dinners and pretends to be his parents, because one is a doctor and never home, and the other is too busy trying to overwinter their roses to be bothered. Sorry but this kid's background has gotta be depressing)

Nico snorted. “You did that to yourself,” he said. Will hummed. “Touché,” he responded, sitting up. “Speaking of Carter,” Jason said, “Hazel said she’d bring him over here with her once the last kid gets picked up if you’re okay with it. She has extra car seats at the day care and didn’t want to make you go back and forth since she’s coming anyway.” Will nodded. “That’s fine,” he said. “I appreciate it, actually.” It was nice to have a little bit more of a support system other than his mom when it came to Carter.

“I’m not sure we’re going to be able to go to the pumpkin patch this weekend,” Nico said softly, looking rather sad. Will frowned, reaching out to cup Nico’s cheek. “That’s okay. There’s plenty more weekends for us to get out and do things before it gets too cold and snowy,” he promised. Nico still seemed upset, probably with himself, so Will offered an alternative. “Hey, would it still be okay if I brought Carter over this weekend? He loves you so much and he seemed to really enjoy hanging out with Cerberus, I think he’d have a really good time if you’re okay with it,” Will said. Nico glanced over at Jason, who shrugged and nodded. Nico smiled a little bit and nodded himself. “Yeah, I think that’d be fine,” he said. Will hoped it would help lift Nico’s mood to have something to look forward to.

15!Dazai who, whether it's you who leans in first or him, gets so overwhelmed. The rush of emotions and warmth he's never been shown causes him to panic, which makes him push you away! (Quite harshly at that..) He doesn't mean to but omg Dazai is just SO not used to affection and comfort that the warm fluttery feeling in his chest makes him sick to his stomach. Processing these feelings makes him feel flustered and sheepish and AHH!!!!! It's too much!!! He'd avoid you so horribly after he's so stupid, ducking into other hallways or using his hands to physically cover his face (very obvious to poor you!!) all so he didn't have to acknowledge the fact that you made him feel different. It'd probably take Chuuya yelling at him for his stupidity for him to realize he really really likes you! And that feeling is actually good!!!

PM!Dazai who's cocky and knows exactly what he wants; He's the demon prodigy for a reason. This Dazai is an asshole who kisses you without warning - no "I'm interested in you" or slow lean in or anything - just cuts you off with a long kiss that takes your breath away before he moves back. He'll tease you for being "so in love with him, as many are," before waving his hand dismissively and leaving. Dazai is a total jerk so when you ask if this means he likes you, he denies it: just saying that he knew you liked him and thought he'd be generous and give you your first and last kiss with him. Dazai flaunts a pretty smile and leans suspiciously close as he says this before immediately leaving under the guise of some meeting he's definitely lying about. He'd start doing things to draw your attention to his lips after this just to mess with you - putting on chapstick and the like. PM!Dazai would love to see you get frustrated and annoyed with his antics but not do anything, knowing it'd only make it worse. grrr biting scratching clawing i need him gone

ADA!Dazai who's anxious. He's so totally in love with you and is overwhelmed by it all! His eyes sting and his throat turns dry, a sign that he feels like crying, but he just stands there at the sight of you. You 'd be the one to initiate it first, an anxious look on your face as you pull back to a ghostly white Dazai standing frigid. The thought of oh fuck, did I overstep? leads to you apologize profusely. Once he finally gets his breath back (you feeling downright horrible with every moment he's silent), Dazai practically hangs off of you, pathetically gripping onto your arm with both of his and holding you close. You ask if this means he likes you back but he still can't speak, just burying his head into the crook of your neck. Give him time, he's still working through everything!!!! It's been a long time since he has actually liked someone, especially so deeply, so it's hard for him to come to terms with it :( He just wants to be near you but he can't find the words to express that just yet. Being vulnerable is so scary!

Beast!Dazai who gets horrifically drunk. How else could he manage all of the things he has to go through? Just knowing he could never confide in Oda like he once has leads him to throwing back drink after drink... Until he ends up on your doorstep. He'd wanted to keep you at arms length, to stop you from following him down the dark road he was paving, but with a few too many drinks in him he found he didn't care. You let him in right away, more than happy to pour him a glass of water and let him crash on your couch for the night. Before you could even turn towards your kitchen, he pulled you in for a passionate kiss, full of love and need and every feeling he has felt for you across lifetimes. The kiss would last a minute or so before Dazai would pull away, hugging you tightly and making you promise him that you'd never leave him, even if he makes horrible decisions and drives everyone else away — you are his, remember? In every life.

More Reading Thoughts: A Shortcut to Mushrooms

LOL Pippin like "I would've eaten all the bread and not saved any for you if Sam didn't stop me" 🤣

"I don't want to answer a string of questions while I am eating. I want to think!" "Good heavens! At breakfast?" Have I mentioned that I love Frodo and Pippin—

Frodo sees his kid cousin running in the grass and singing and thinks to himself "🥺 oh I can't possibly take him and Sam into danger with me, look at them"

I love Frodo's entire conversation with Sam here. If I tried to list my favorite lines, I'd be copying the whole thing. Frodo doesn't want to put Sam in danger, because he loves him, but Sam is extremely loyal and willing to walk into hellfire for Frodo, because he loves him. It's just such a sweet exchange that tells you so much about these characters. I'm love them boys.

Also Frodo being surprised that Sam's become so philosophical haha

Frodo: "We'd best get going; we slept late." Pippin: "You mean you slept late." HAVE I MENTIONED—

Frodo: "I'm not going to take the road. I'll cut straight across country to the Ferry." Pippin: "What, can you fly??"

Pippin: "Short cuts make long delays! Besides, I was hoping to stop at the inn for some good beer." Frodo: "Well, that settles it! Short cuts make long delays, but inns make longer ones."

Also Sam stalwartly like "I'll go with you, Mr. Frodo," but also inwardly like ":-C but the beer tho"

And now we return to another hiking section, about which I have very little to say except that Tolkien's description of the natural environments of the Shire is extremely beautiful and I too would want to hike there

And now we interrupt your regularly scheduled pleasant hike for some bone-chilling horror

It's hard to imagine in the modern age—when tornado sirens and jet planes and faulty car brakes all probably make noises not unlike that of a Ringwraith's call—but to hobbits who have never heard a noise louder or more frightening than a thunderclap, a high, sustained, almost industrial screech like this must seem like the most terrifying and otherworldly thing.

(Also nobody tell Pippin about the white bellbird, which has a call like the emergency alert system at a volume comparable to a pneumatic drill)

Pippin: "Oh good, it's Farmer Maggot :-D" Frodo: "OH NO IT'S FARMER MAGGOT D-8"

It's such a shame that we know so little of Frodo's childhood, but the fact that he was a Certified Scoundrel(TM) who was prone to stealing mushrooms and got his butt whooped over it is absolutely hilarious 🤣 How ever did a naughty kid like him become the erudite sweetheart we know and love??

Pippin like "chill bro, he's a mutual friend of mine and Merry's, we're good!" Meanwhile Frodo is sweating buckets LOL

It's so cool that Pippin gets to be the leader in this section. And what a fearless leader he is! Of course he's not in any danger at all, but it just says so much about him that he waltzes down the lane to Farmer Maggot's house without a care in the world while Frodo and Sam are both terrified 🤣

Also I adore Farmer Maggot's hospitality

Sam giving Farmer Maggot the side eye because he whooped Frodo over the mushrooms years ago X-D

"I recollect the time when young Frodo Baggins was one of the worst young rascals of Buckland." I MEAN JUST IMAGINE

Farmer Maggot's story about the Ringwraith is SO GOOD. I love how much courage this round old hobbit has in him.

Farmer Maggot: "Moral of the story, ya never should've gone to Hobbiton. Clearly ya got mixed up with weird people." Sam: >:-C

Also Farmer Maggot cheerfully being like "don't worry, if they come after ya again, I'll deal with 'em for ya!" is so sweet and so ballsy X-D

Also Farmer Maggot is SO FREAKING SMART, and so generous. I think it's Merry who says later that he's got a lot more going on in his head than his genial appearance might let on, and he's right. He can see that Frodo and co. are in trouble, and he immediately offers his help. What a solid dude.

And here we see Frodo's silver tongue at work once again!

"I've been in terror of you and your dogs for over thirty years... It's a pity: for I've missed a good friend."

This line actually made me stop and think, bruh. How many friendships do we miss out on because we let the mistakes of our younger selves dictate our future?? I can think of lots of dumb things I did as a kid, and I'd be so embarrassed to run into the people that I wronged in my stupidity...but who knows? Maybe they're good people. Maybe they'd even be my best friends, if I got over myself. Food for thought.

And speaking of food, I want to have dinner with Farmer Maggot and his family and farm hands X-D

Ohhhh the suspense of the hoof-falls in the foggy lane is SOOO GOOD

WHO'S THAT POKEMON??

IT'S MERRY BRANDYBUCK!!

And his humor is in absolute top form LOLOL

"When it grew foggy I came across and rode up towards Stock to see if you had fallen in any ditches. ... Where did you find them, Mr. Maggot? In your duck-pond?"
