On my recent super-popular post about how Lilo & Stitch has no villains, there’s one comment that reoccurs the most (aside from the one about how the real villains are colonialism or the United States government):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So you know what? Let’s do it. Here we go with
Psycho Analysis: Dr. Jacques von Hamsterwheel
"It's Hämster-viel!”
Tumblr media
Oh, sorry. My bad. Let’s try that again:
Psycho Analysis: Dr. Jacques von Hämsterviel
Tumblr media
(WARNING! This analysis contains SPOILERS!)
This diminutive bastard certainly looks like a harmless little critter, but don’t let looks fool you; he is the unholy union of that French asshole from Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Dr. Habitrale from the video game Stitch: Experiment 626 and is every bit the card-carrying villain Jumba is. However, while Jumba is all talk when it comes to being evil due to being a genuinely nice and extremely gay alien, Hämsterviel is just completely without redeeming qualities (and even worse, he’s heterosexual). He’s a nasty, miserable little bully, and quite frankly is just what the series needed.
Oh, and he was only in the DTV sequels and series, not the first movie. That’s why he wasn’t in the original post, guys. I was talking about the original film.
Motivation/Goals: This guy, in true evil scientist fashion, wants to conquer the galaxy. To this end he sends out Gantu to do his dirty work and acquire the 625 experiments who aren’t Stitch. If you’re looking for depth, Hämsterviel is not your guy.
Performance: No, that’s not John Cleese there; that is Jeff Bennet, the professional voice actor you might know as the titular character of Johnny Bravo, Petrie in the DTV Land Before Time sequels, Dexter’s dad on Dexter’s Laboratory, Brooklyn on Gargoyles, the one and only Candlejack from Freaka
Tumblr media
...Sorry, don’t know what happened there. Anyway, as you can see from just that tiny sampling of his career, the dude is insanely talented and is able to pull off a lot of voices. Is it any wonder he’s killing it in this performance as an evil alien “hamster” with an ego as big as he is small?
Final Fate: Hämsterviel was a fool to think he could stand up to the power of family. Lilo, Stitch, and everyone else (including Gantu and Reuben) team up and beat his ass, sending him right back to jail… only this time, there’s no one who’ll be willing to bust him out. For a so-called evil genius, he really didn’t think this through very well.
Final Thoughts & Score: I think it is really easy to just write Hämsterviel off as an unnecessary addition to a franchise that didn’t need a cartoonish villain to cause conflict, and who sullies the tone and message of the original film. This just goes to show that sometimes doing what is easy is fucking stupid, because Hämsterviel rules.
Okay, he’s not the greatest or most complex villain who has ever existed. In fact, he’s fairly simplistic, but considering he’s the villain of a “Monster of the week” show that is a lighthearted continuation of a slightly heavier sci-fi drama, this is acceptable. He has enough quirks and characterizations that he is immensely fun to watch and, what’s more, watch him eat a big serving of humble pie nearly every episode. He’s like Rita Repulsa, except less sexy.
And honestly, I think even if the series is lighter and goofier with him in it, he provides a nice balance while reaffirming the core found family values of the series by acting as the antithesis to Lilo’s family. Hämsterviel is just completely, irredeemably evil; he refuses to change, and even when he’s finally defeated and hauled off in Leroy & Stitch, he hasn’t changed his tune. His cruel, abrasive attitude caused him to belittle and backstab Gantu and Reuben so much that both of them ended up betraying them, and the guy also threw Jumba under the bus. He’s just horrible, and he fails almost every single time. And do you know why? Because he ain’t got the power of family, baby!
Tumblr media
Yes, Hämsterviel showcases the sort of miserable, unpleasant failure you’ll become if you’re a self-absorbed, self-reliant prick who thinks you’re above such silly things as “Companionship” and “love” and whatever. Even if Lilo’s family is a bit messy and at odds sometimes, they all love and care about each other to the point where, when given their life dreams and scatter across the galaxy, they decide that being a big stupid family together on Earth is way cooler and more important, and you know what? They’re right, because they save the world and send Hämsterviel to the space pokey. He is literally the only kind of villain who could possibly work in the series: An arrogant jackoff who is incapable of even understanding what it means to have a family.
As far as fun, Saturday morning cartoon-style villains go, Hämsterviel is a fun little villain, and definitely one of the most memorable parts of the sequels. I almost thought about giving him a 7, but honestly I think he’s iconic enough to get an 8/10. I think he can stand aside some of the great Disney villains as a fun comedic villain.
Oh, and did you know he actually had a cameo in the first film?
Tumblr media
Maybe I should have mentioned him in my original post after all...

watching supernatural always keeps you on edge because any given episode could be the worst thing you've ever seen on television and makes you never ever want to touch the show again but the very next episode could be the one that blows your dick and balls clean off and once again you're stuck in the miserable hamster wheel that is caring about supernatural and you'll be running in endless loops inside your brain

The Bishop’s Different Talents - HCs
Shamura is able to write, draw, and play instruments. They're more inclined towards string instruments, and they can't for the life of them figure out how to write their own music. They normally draw and write in their free time as well! They've made a couple educational books about the flora and fauna in the different realms with incredibly accurate sketches.
They never really got into the habit of writing fictional stuff however. The few times they've tried, they would end up with pages of facts about the world the characters lived in, but no actual plot or character interaction. Very much someone to go to for world building ideas.
Heket can draw, but not as well as Shamura. It's better than stick figures and she's proud of that, at least. Mostly she enjoys cooking and singing. In a Follower AU, she takes over the kitchen when Lamb isn't there, and even helps them cook when they are home. It's a good way for the two of them to let go of the past and start bonding.
She sings a lot during the day when she has her voice, either pre-canon or in a Follower AU. Cleaning, cooking, simply taking a relaxing walk…she tends to start humming to herself without even realizing it. Like Shamura, she can't write music, but if the melody is there she's somehow able to come up with lyrics. Only if the melody is already there, otherwise she feels lost without the beat.
Kallamar is the one Shamura and Heket go to for song writing. He plays multiple instruments of different types and is able to come up with melodies that are almost hypnotic. Heket adds the lyrics and the two of them tend to duet together while Shamura plays their own instruments with them.
Maybe it's not considered a skill by some, but he's incredibly good at decorating. You give him a theme and he's able to take colors and furniture that give you exactly what you want, but somehow better. In a Follower AU he tends to boss Lamb around when it comes to decorations, insisting that they're messing up the Feng Shui of the room and to just let him handle it.
Leshy is inclined towards dancing and gardening. Even without his god powers he's always had a way with plants and enjoys taking care of them. Even in a Follower AU this is true, it's like the plants prefer him? You can use the same exact techniques as him to grow crops, and still his will somehow be bigger and taste better.
He's very inclined to movement, and dancing is one of the easiest ways to help get that itch out of his body. If he overhears Heket humming, he will drop whatever he's doing to go dance by her. Every time. Its a habit that started when he was still a small wyrm god, tiny baby Leshy wiggling over towards his big sister to wiggle to the sound of her voice. It used to make Heket cry and whimper about how much she “wuvs him!”. It still makes her smile to see him wiggle at her voice.
Narinder is very charming and has a way with words, and that transfers over to paper as well. Unlike Shamura, he is good at fictional stories, and enjoys making short stories for the children in his and Lamb's cult to listen to and read. He's also very good a poetry, able to string flowery words together to make a beautiful mental image.
Just like his sister and brother, he can also sing. But you'll never know it. His voice is a wonderful baritone that compliments his sibling's voices, but he's too self conscious to ever join them. The only one who does hear his singing voice is Lamb, in quiet moments together when they are snuggled up. If Lamb wants to hear his voice, they have to initiate. Staring with soft humming before moving on to words, at which point he'll scoff but start singing back.

Is there a way to get help for the people witnessing a bunch of terrified children on screen getting medically tortured and thinking that this is the show making said character cool and special and not just an abuse victim? bc this is not only old, it’s bordering on worrying.
Suffering is just suffering. It sure does make you things, but special isn’t one of them.
Child is kidnapped, abused, forced to be complicit in whatever a secret malevolent society forces them to do, has to run away and hide Not Even As Themselves to get away and it barely works for long. Their friend gets murdered. Then, when the society is fed up with them, they erased their memories and past, remove what was done to them from popular history so nobody else will know they existed, and dump them alone and without family back on the planet they were tortured to build. There is a child crying in a barn involved. Then they go on to do various other horrible things to them, the only plus side is they get better at running away now, but not always. Because they get pulled back in and messed with all the time because gallifrey hates them but also still wishes to use and abuse them for their own gain.
I wonder if the doctor sleeps better after the master went nuclear on them.
Regardless, the chosen one trope this is not. Nobody was chosen. There was a kidnapping. This is mother gothel territory.

Okay, but everyone's talking about how Buck only deserves the best right now and I fully agree. But so does Eddie and a lot of people seem to forget about that.
After all the many relationships gone wrong with girlfriends, Tommy swoops in, kisses Buck and asks him on a date. Wonderful and I truly love this for him. It'll be fun, exploratory and definitely eye-opening for Buck as he figures out his bisexuality. He'll learn from his time with Tommy and I'm sure that he'll care for him.
Tommy is new and shiney right now and Buck won't be able to look past that and he shouldn't have to either. Let him enjoy the rush of it all. But eventually the newness will wear off, as it always does, and then what?
I feel like Buck is still on that hamsterwheel, trying to find love. He dove into another romantic adventure over the course of a few days. The same thing he used to do in his past relationships. He needs more than that. Something deeper that will last.
And what about Eddie? He's -once again- stuck in this weird relationship that doesn't seem to go anywhere. The man has only kissed one woman (on the lips) on screen, his wife, even though he has had 2 girlfriends now: Ana and Marisol. He panicked at the idea of a relationship with Ana, yet felt completely comfortable with entrusting his son to his best friend.
To me, this reads like Eddie might be demisexual, but I know a lot of people have different ideas about Eddie's sexuality. All that aside, it's obvious that Eddie has some complicated feelings towards Buck. Whether he actually knows how he feels or not? That remains to be seen. I have an inkling we'll find out in the next couple of episodes.
The show has stated that Buck always feels like he is 'too much' and Eddie always feels like he's 'not enough'. The reason that they're such good friends is because they compliment eachother on every level. 6 seasons of development has made them perfect for eachother.
I know it'll take time, because that's the way a slowburn works. But ultimately I am convinced they'll end up together because Buck is best for Eddie and vice versa.

doctor who specials thoughts!
spoilers for most everything below:
obvs the plot was banging -- my partner didn't know the meep's a full-on war criminal evil emperor carnivore and I was trying not to giggle every time they called the meep so cuuuuute
the concept of transgender saved London! and donna noble's life! remember to thank a trans person in your life toay for saving people through the power of transgender!
but also specifically Donna's love for her daughter!
also Doctor preferred pronouns as any but specifically also "The Doctor" (definite article), fuckn good and correct
"you have weapons in your wheelchair!?" "of course, we all do" (from memory)
I know this is OG comic already, reallyreally enjoy the big bug beings aren't evil, and use stun guns -- an important way of gauging their character and whether the Doctor trusts them and solves the mystery. also the desiiiign of them!!!!! PRACTICAL CREATURE DESIIIIIIGN BOTH THEM AND THE MEEP!!!!!!!!!!
THE DOCTOR flopping about, RUNNING AROUND, CLIMBING UP THE WALLS, GETTING KNOCKED OUT! having just watched the entire of Eleven with all the "has a speech about how cool I am which makes the Bad Guys just give up for some reason" having this Doctor stalling for time and solving a mystery and then immediately knocked TF OUT!!!!!!!!!!
DoctorDonna BEstiESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! they're so!!!!!!!!!!!!! they're SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! next two episodes are gonna kill me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
still got the mystery of why the Doctor came back with this face, teaser about the Meep's "boss" (assuming Toymaker), and of course we know next to nothing about what will happen next week!
ohhhhhhh the new Tardis, she's so FLASH, she's so CLASSIC, she's so HAMSTERWHEEL!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know why I assumed Wilfred would be dead (well, they definitely counted on us assuming it), but it makes so much sense he wouldn't be when they fucking filmed with Bernard Cribbins!! Wilf will be coming up soon!
my couple of gripes are my feelings about UNIT as "uncomplicatedly good guys." I know there's a lot of different depictions of them throughout who (I've seen Two and Three + nu!who's depictions, and I prefer early seasons making it a more tempestuous relationship, especially with Three being sort of forced to work with them but really challenging their decisions and structures), but I watched the 50th anniversary the other day and that sees Kate Stewart almost blowing up London... once a military organisation, always a military organisation, and I'd like to see some future exploration of that. not that this episode was the episode to do so necessarily, but certainly in the future...
and the "male presenting" moment -- I see where it came from, it was the one misstep in threading trans/gender political and philosophical ideas into the text, had the vibes of "women and non-binary" type gendering, and makes you (me) go "what does male presenting mean? who is male presenting to you? do you mean man? do you mean "read as man"? are you talking about non-passing tans women, non-binary people with beards, trans men? and what does that have to do with your innate self?" it's some basic gender essentialism dressed up in progressive language. I'm going deep into this Moment, but it's also the only Moment, and I feel like it's interesting to hold it to a higher standard than I have previous Who. good intentions, this one is a miss
on the whole it's fucking BACK!!! TRANSGENDERS SAVE THE WORLD AND THE DOCTOR IS A BABY LOSER WHO FEELS SO MANY FEELINGS AND IS NO LONGER AFRAID OF EXPRESSING THEM AND DONNA IS ASKING WHY THEY CAN'T JUST HANG SOMETIMES AND SPILLS COFFEE ON THE CONSOLE AND THE TARDIS IS SO FLAAAAASSHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We really are back in our own 911 fandom hamsterwheel again aren‘t we? Call me naive, but i really thought everything would be better with the ABC move. But these last few days 100% reminded me about the good old Fox days. And what‘s even worse NOONE IS TALKING ABOUT RAVI FILMING TODAY, just because some D class wannebe actress wanted to have some fun with the fandom.
Just my view, but I do think things are going to be better with the switch to ABC + Tim back making the important decisions.
What we’re seeing right now is a fandom that wants everything done their way according to their preferred timeline.
Natalia and Marisol weren’t supposed to come back for season seven.
Buckley-Diaz fam was supposed to have a season-opening story line a la tsunami arc - notice how some people thought the Buck and Chris scene could have been a callback? - to set up the path towards canon.
Discussions about Buck possibly getting a boyfriend aren’t supposed to happen unless we can pretend Eddie is going to be the boyfriend (which is why “Bi Buck” has people so spooked; if there really was a 0% chance of any of it they would laugh and keep moving).
But what most of this fandom fails to realize is that “You don’t write for the show1!1!” is just as true for them as it is for those who choose not to support a popular headcanon or theory just because it’s popular.
If Buddie ever gets the chance to be canon, it’s going to happen when Tim and whoever he’s in collaboration with decide it should.
As much as we might care about the characters and their forever evolving dynamic, it’s never been our story to tell. It’s Tim’s. And if Tim doesn’t have the authority to tell the story exactly the way he wants, what makes anyone think the fandom has the power to make it happen when our opinions matter even less?

Hi
Im a 20year old immigrant who moved independently for uni to the Uk at 17. After, I started working and met someone long distance who I felll in love with and after things went bad, I went into a streak of depressive phase and chasing cheap dopamine. We have come back to one another multiple times but he stands on the notion that we are too young and he doesn’t want us to impress the effort meant for our career into a relationship but it was something I was willing to do. It seems like a silly excuse and although I know I want to move on but a voice in my head says what if he’s ready to try again and put in the required effort tomorrow? Also, it’s been more than a year x. Help meee
Hi darling, This is a truth that you're yet young to believe, but experience proves it to be a fact with time: when a person shows you, even better, tells you, that he doesn't want to be with you... believe him! And stop trying to "fix" him! He's literally telling you his priorities and feelings. He's not interested. If he wanted to, he would. It's that simple. It's not your job to psychoanalyze him and create a strategy to "win his heart" back.
As women, we don't chase, and we don't take sloppy seconds, and we're not in beggar or mother theresa energy. We are in receiving energy, knowing that what's meant for us will find us. The right, healthy relationship won't require you to sacrifice yourself, or bend over backwards in order to be chosen. I know it's tempting to do anything to be "chosen", but that's operating on scarcity mindset, and from a survival mode.
I promise you, a real man that cares about you will show and tell you that he wants you and he will actively fight for you and your relationship.
For heaven's sake, don't waste your most precious years fretting and chasing unavailable people! That's one advice I would've loved to receive when I was in your position. Instead, decide what you want, maintain high standards, and in the meanwhile focus on your self improvement (develop hobbies, follow your passions, educate yourself, read books, try new sports, etc). The right one will come along at the right time.
But chasing unavailable people will only keep you in a pattern of your love interest running away from you (energetically, that's the dynamic you're volunteering for - you can't chase unless the other is running), and validating your toxic belief that you're not worthy of love or being chosen. Get off the hamsterwheel altogether. You can either do it in your 20s, or you can waste another 10, 20+ years on toxic dating until you're fed up and decide you deserve better - your choice.
Hope this helps. 🕊
Much love,
-Lumen
