Hey! :) I know some people on here have an interest in Siegmund and Sieglinde, Wagner's Ring Cycle's tragic incestuous twins, and... well, I've been doing this little project where I collected Siegmund/Sieglinde moments from various manga and comics adapting the Ring. Now I'm finally done with it, and I've just gathered all related posts in a masterlist ordered by author/artist...

Here it is!

Fair warning: the works listed are a mixed bag, with some being so faithful to Wagner's works, they almost adapt them line by line, and others being so loose, they're basically just doing their own thing. Some, ofc, downplay the incest or remove it entirely... even while, ironically enough, making the not-twins look so similar they might as well be related anyway. And some include sex scenes, implied or more explicit, while others prefer to leave all that to the readers' imagination...

"darkness rises and light to meet it" for the WIP game. I've actually been curious about it for a while, lol

ah, because i have a tag for it on my blog, right? well *cough cough* it's an original work, my own retelling of beauty and the beast with strong insp from death and the maiden/the hades and persephone myth. it's about a sorcerer-king who sells his soul to find a cure for death and bring back to life his dead fiancée (if this sounds familiar to johannes cabal fans, actually i've been ruminating over the plot for many years, and well before i read the series. cabal just happens to fit one of my favorite archetypes - see also darth vader lol). it doesn't go well: death is pissed off that this random guy (who after his beloved's death went berserk and became a bloodthirsty tyrant) gains semi-immortality and an innaturally long lifespan through dark arts, and so he punishes him. the king is transformed into a monstrous living spectre (think of the nažgul) and attains immortality by... basically becoming dead. three hundred years later, a warrior princess offers her own life in exchange for her mother's (the queen - like in the persephone myth, the mother figure and the separation from her daughter here is important) etc. etc. we know the story, right? i still need to figure out a loooooot of details, and basically the document is just a bare plot line + various snippets/notes... ah, the "beauty" character here is not a reincarnation of the beast's dead bride-to-be but a totally separate character; this story is about grief and second love among other things. not because i don't think it's sexy for the dead beloved to literally haunt him - believe me, she's doing it; he turned into everything she would have hated in her name - but i dislike the reincarnation trope and i leave the haunting to the likes of wuthering heights. it's simply not the story i want to tell here lol. i also think the ending will be different from what we're all used to from batb stories, but again, i'm still figuring it out. (it'd be easier if i didn't change my mind every 2 seconds 🙄)

Franziska; Ensemble - Chasing Demons for the WIP Tag Game. Inner demons? Literal demons? 👀 And/or Calstoph, because the only character with "Cal" in their name that comes to mind rn is Calisto Yew and that sounds all kinds of fucked-up and interesting.

Chasing Demons

Chasing Demons is my long-term on-and-off AA WIP, which I've been chiselling away at for almost half of my life! (dear christ). It's the longest thing I've ever written: the 35k that's currently on AO3 is about half of what I have already written, and the rest of the story is outlined scene by scene! I just need to finish writing it. It basically started as a prompt asking for Morgan Fey/Manfred von Karma, wherein Morgan seeks out the Perfect Man™ to father a powerful heir.

It... kind of took a life of its own! Because I started writing it when I was much younger and my writing skills weren't as developed, the pacing is a bit off in places, and characters who aren't Manfred or Franziska feel a bit flat (it was my dissatisfaction with this that got me into RP as a way to study characters and I uh, got distracted...) But when I was rereading it the other year when I was getting really back into Ace Attorney fandom, I was like, you know what, the actual story still lands. Like, here's a man who desperately wants nothing more than to be perfect, who fails utterly at it, but would do anything to protect his daughter. He fucks up so much, and is bad at actually displaying it, but he genuinely loves Franziska so!! much!!! There's kidnappings and murder plots and family FEELS and ridiculous convoluted outcomes, so y'know, Canon-Typical Shenanigans. Calstoph You have surmised correctly, the 'Cal' does indeed refer to Calisto Yew! There was only a few paragraphs of this written; as I was fully in my 'character studies where nothing happens' era, it's mostly just Calisto observing Kristoph for Reasons™, but I really want to go back and flesh this one out more once I've had time to canon review, so in the WIP folder it stays!

Calisto’s come to Grossberg’s law offices to deal with a matter of business. While she’s waiting for the big man himself to turn up (he’s always late), she leans against the windowsill and indulges herself in a spot of make-up reapplication. This office, despite its grandiose luxury, is rather dull and boring: its only saving grace is Grossberg's most recent assistant.

Kristoph Gavin is a pretty man,bright-eyed and idealistic: Calisto one of those naïve idiots who wants to believe he’s making a difference in the world. But there's a flaw with that persona, simple yet fatal: Kristoph Gavin is studying to be a defense attorney.

Defense attorneys are cheats and criminals. Calisto knows this better than anyone else; the badge she wears so proudly pinned to the lapel of her jacket is just another lie, as fake as her name, as fake as her laugh. She wonders what Kristoph Gavin is hiding behind that pretty-boy façade.

1. Are you named after anyone? Nope, my parents bought one of those baby names books and randomly pointed at one

2. When was the last time you cried? Few days ago, I was watching This world won’t tear me down (Questo mondo non mi renderà cattivo) by Zerocalcare. The scene where Sara gets on the car and gives the megaphone to the old lady got me in my feels. Humans joining forces and realizing fighting only advantages horrible powerful men is my favorite thing.

3. Do you have kids? No, but maybe I’ll adopt a daughter someday.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Yes. I have kind of an innocent face? People are always shocked when I say mean sarcastic things. I love it.

5. What sports do you play/have played? Well, it depends if you consider dancing a sport. Oh, also horse riding but, like, in the summer.

6. What's the first thing you notice about people? If they are interesting, like if they have a trait or a style or a physical attribute or a way of speaking that is incredibly personal and unique and makes me want to understand them.

7. What's your eye color? *clears her throat* they are Hazel and that is totally a thing™️ .

8. Scary movies or happy endings? I don’t like scary movies but I’m not an happy endings girl either. Bittersweet endings are the real shit, like yes love triumphs but we destroyed the world so completely that we got broken with it. I’m a tragic bitch yes.

9. Any special talents? I can make people feel so comfortable with me that they’ll feel safe to talk about their worst fears and deepest regret. 9/10 times I won’t care enough to remember it by the next day, it’s actually better and safer than priest confession.

10. Where were you born? A normal hospital in Italy, sadly. No story to tell here.

11. What are your hobbies? Reading, traveling. CATS.

Actually I have one of the most basic name in the Universe (Anna) and on pinterest there was a great amount of Anna Karenina/Anna Karina pics with a lot of 19th century Russia/nouvelle vague aesthetic, and that's cool but not my greatest obsession tbf and the mood in most of the pics not my jam.

So I added my second baptismal name and actually with "Anna Gloria" I had to scroll a little but at the end I manage to download ~20 pics to select 9. The final effect is basically the same as the one I was complaining about.

 Best Served Hot for the Fanfic Writer Asks

This is the Franziska/Miles fic I wrote last year and deals with Franziska's feelings in the aftermath of Phoenix's disbarment and her, uh, unhealthy coping mechanisms (which, uh, manage to shock even Miles)!

4. What is your favourite line of dialogue?

The line that’s in the summary of the fic on AO3: “We were never siblings, Papa made sure of that.” It really sums up how I view Franziska and Miles’s relationship: she calls him her little brother mockingly, but views him more as a rival than an actual sibling. (Not to say rivalry isn’t also an important part of sibling relationships, but their relationship is more dysfunctional than the average.)

Franziska almost feels like her father pitted them against one another on purpose, and the greatest tragedy of the thing is that Miles doesn’t feel that way at all! He had always regarded Franziska as a little sister (although he hadn’t thought too much about they regard one another, either). He treats her with a certain indulgence and superiority that’s not uncommon when it comes to elder siblings: he teases Phoenix about how much Franziska wants to whip him silly, calls Franziska out when she’s acting irrationally, teases her about things she’s a bit sensitive about… so yeah. He’s her little sister.

Until she throws herself at him in her rage and despair and their relationship tilts on their head and he goes oh shit. Of course, he’s still responsible enough to reject her because like, he needs more time to process the EVERYTHING  that is going on, and the greatest tragedy of it all is that Franziska takes it as a rejection of her as a person (because he doesn’t even want to sleep with her), but fails to understand that he doesn’t want to sleep with her because he genuinely saw her as a younger sibling.

Co-dependent dysfunction is my pairing catnip, what can I say. 😌

3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

Their differences are perplexing, given they are completely identical, except in the ways Dahlia carves out her independence: summer dresses paired with red hair dye, and sweet smiles that provide a facsimile of disguise for barely buried rage, always bubbling so close to the surface.

I chose this line because I think it’s the one singular line that best encapsulates this fic: that Iris and Dahlia are so similar, but it’s the choices they make that differentiate them in the end (even if at this current point in time, Iris envies Dahlia’s strength and certainty, in the long run, everyone except Dahlia knows that she’s on a downward spiral of self-destruction, lol.)

Nibelungenlied Hagen: Clever, dependable, super loyal, actually loves his friends and family A Lot, may start praising them at the vaguest prompting. Also RUTHLESS, a bastard, Will Not Hesitate to kill you and/or ruin you if he feels you're a threat and/or he doesn't like you, is a-ok with harming women and killing children. King of bullshit excuses that somehow work even tho they really really shouldn't. Besides killing ppl and stealing their stuff, skills set also includes lying, scheming, and knowing how to use scorn "full well", which means not only you don't want to fight him or trust him too much, you also Do Not want to get roasted by him. Really dislikes Siegfried (relatable!) and is very very proud of himself for killing him (adorable!!). Drawn to cool weaponry like a magpie to shiny objects. Very pragmatic and straightforward, has probably never met a moral dilemma he didn't immediately stab in the back or dump into the Danube. Is the protagonist of what I honestly consider to be the single most (darkly) hilarious moment of the poem (seriously, go read Adventures 25-26, they're a WILD ride). Asking what his True Motivations are, how his character Should be interpreted, or even which historical or mythological figures he might be based on will probably start a fistfight between academics (tho that goes for everyone in the Nibelungenlied tbf) which makes him a bastard even on a meta level. Canonically long-legged and broad-chested and with hair "mixed with grey" at least in the second half of the poem, so I feel (almost) completely justified in calling him a leggy DILF/silver fox with nice tiddies. Engages in situational blood-drinking and gets his friends into it as well, which definitely doesn't justify me calling him a sexy vampire but shh, whatever. Once I posted a meme about him and tumblr removed it because it was just too hot. 11/10, literally my second literary crush right after Hector from the Iliad, been thinking of him and sighing romantically since I was literally just a kid. *sigh*
