A German halftrack pauses it’s advance for a moment. The cars in the back ground are Russian, commandeered by the Germans to help cross the vast open spaces of the Eastern Front - exact date unknown

It could be armed with an MG or a Pak but the first purpose was to transport troops. It could transport an entire squad

The vehicle pictured is known by people like me simply as a half-track. More official names were the Sd.Kfz. 251 (short for Sonderkraftfahrzeug / special purpose vehicle), or SPW (short for Schützenpanzerwagen / armoured infantry vehicle). It used a Maybach engine and there were at least 20 variants in use which were manufactured by various companies including Hanomag, Horch and Skoda.

I also built this pilotless flame tank. I really am just entranced with these half-track hotrod hybrids lately. 😅 I think I'd like to give it a more robust barrel and maybe attach a hose to the fuel tanks.
