The Core/Dark Marcy

The Core was a biomechanical, artificially transplanted collective of minds created to guide the undersea kingdom of Amphibia. It was created long ago from an amalgamation of the smartest minds from across Amphibia's history. The Core lived under Newtopia Castle in a secret basement in wait for the day when the Calamity Box was returned to Amphibia. All the while, The Core acted as the hidden power behind the Newtopia crown.

After centuries in dormancy, the Calamity Box finally presented itself when the Warriors of Prophecy arrived in Amphibia, who were destined to end the Core. Upon this discovery, the Core sought to reclaim the Box and undo the prophecy by having its conscience transported to Marcy's body through a helmet, leaving the deactivated mechanical body behind and creating a new identity, Darcy. With one of the warriors as its host, the Core regained control of Newtopia, and launched an invasion campaign on Earth as it planned to a millennium ago.

During the invasion, Marcy was freed from the Core's influence after Sasha used her sword to sever the cord connected to Darcy's helmet. However, the Core managed to survive inside Darcy's helmet and escaped.

After making its escape, the Core ended up initiating its final gambit by connecting to Amphibia's moon and setting a collision course with said planet. Though the Calamity Trio used their powers to destroy the Core's drones, it was not enough to stop it, with Anne ending up absorbing Sasha and Marcy's gems to shoot a powerful blast that destroyed the moon and the Core, ending its reign of terror for good.

Actress Haley Tju provided the voice of Marcy as well as Darcy.  The villain first appeared in the fourteenth episode of the second season of Amphibia, airing on March 20th, 2021.

If you think about it, Anne, Sasha, and Marcy all wanted to salvage their friendship even before they went to Amphibia.

Sasha, feeling alone since her parents divorce. Anne, saying she didn’t really love herself. Marcy, feeling isolated because nobody else was interested in what she was.

Each of them did their “best” and their hardest to stay together no matter how happy or miserable their friendship really made them feel. Each of them didn’t want to lose the two people they could really count on.

Sasha, taking control over everything so Anne and Marcy would start to think they couldn’t do anything without her. Anne, became a pushover so as not to anger Sasha or Marcy. Marcy, found a way to escape, taking it upon herself to go through with it so she wouldn’t have to lose her friends.

It explains why we basically saw them at their most toxic at the beginning of the series/when we were first introduced to them.

I know many people already know that Marcy Wu and Karmi share the same voice actor (Haley Tju), but I was so ecstatic when I heard the news, so I made this drawing of them meeting.

We also know that these two characters have a lot in common, seeing as how they’re both young geniuses who have unfortunately been horrifically betrayed by someone they trusted. O_O Glad things seem to work out for them though. ;)

Haley Tju (Marcy’s voice actress) clearly had a lot of fun voicing Darcy.

Ok, ok. I admit, I wasn’t into Amphibia before because I was scared to watch it, stopped watching it last month or 2 I don’t remember but I give it another try and as I continue watching it I absolutely adore Marcy Wu. I was so glad I give the show a shot.

I do like Anne and Sasha don’t get me wrong but I relate to Marcy and loved her even more and spoilers for the final season, I was depressed when she got possessed. She did remind me of Deku and I loved that, they’re both green themed motherfuckers 💚

No hate on Anne as the protagonist though but I do wish Marcy would be the protagonist in the entire show instead Anne I still love her though.

I would give me an idea that Marcy and Anne would switch places but I do NOT want to it be betrayal to the other fans , it’s just my fan theory.

But I don’t know know what Marcy’s parents but I think they’re overprotective. I’ll be writing “What if Marcy was the protagonist Amphibia instead of Anne?” Soon.
