i have everything in me to be a sonic movie hater, but i think my expectations were simply too low to even evoke emotions in me like anger

i just finished saw v and i don't have high hopes for the rest of the franchise (based on what ive heard) but im in too deep to stop now
#no i haven't enjoyed the last two no i don't expect to get much out of the next five or so movies. but i need to know.#i guess saw v mightve suffered bc i watched it basically immediately after iv#something i didnt do with any of the others#but i was told v was one of the good ones so i was looking forward to it. i dont think it was burnout yknow#but uh. i didn't like it. i think i liked iv more honestly. strahm and hoffman do absolutely nothing for me#i liked the traps. that was it though#it felt so pointless and empty. it was the first one where i genuinely wondered why they made it. why did they decide to keep going with#this. i think ii and iv both function more/better as setup for their following films but like. at least iii was pretty good yknow#like both amanda and hoffman's accomplicing feels kinda retconned in but at least amanda's an interesting character#what does hoffman have. what does strahm have. nothing. and no i don't think they have much in the way of homoeroticism either.#i don't tend to be so negative and im sorry if someone goes in the saw tags and feels bad about me talking shit about something they like#because i know that doesn't feel good. honestly i'd love to hear why people like v. maybe it'll change my opinion of it if i look at it a#different way yknow? but for now im just annoyed by it. iv was engaging in the moment but very forgettable#i liked riggs well enough but we barely learned a thing about him. he wasn't a deep character at all and i think that's a shame#but v was just a paperwork-based cat and mouse chase. 90 minutes and it still felt like they were wasting my time#why did strahm go to the old trap locations? i don't think he found anything out there. likr it was just a framing device for the flashback#but he didn't actually have a reason to go there. waste of my time#not an original critique im sure but saw ii on seems to be more focused on scale and layers of shit (i.e. having two games going at once)#than using the traps to examine the characters. i mean you go from two guys in a bathroom for a couple hours#learning about who they are gradually at a slow pace vs like 8 people in a house plus cop stuff plus 90 second traps of dubious fairness#hoffman has no real relationship with kramer (unlike amanda) and basically everyone who'd been following jigsaw is dead and so are jigsaw#and (presumably) amanda. what am i supposed to be here for? the vague outline of a saw trap? the type of torture happening?#im not even opposed to that per se but frankly the more they focus on the cops surrounding this shit the less fun it is#why are you making all the traps like 15 seconds long and tied to characters who aren't the primary focus. it's saw#ughh i miss adam. i miss amanda. hell i miss kramer and he was pretty present in this one (flashbackwise)#whateverrr. anyway that poll comparing chainshippng shotgunnshippng and coffinshippng where shotgun was last? lesbophobic.#im only half joking about that. im sure ppl have their reasons for coffin but i also think it's the tendency fandom bias for “two white guy#ships. but hey maybe vi and onwards will add more context to that that'll make me reconsider. i mean i wouldn't have liked the amanda#accomplice thing That much if i'd only seen ii. i think iii really makes it mesh better and it leads to fun character stuff#(though i still think i would've liked it more bc like. amanda was always grateful to jigsaw right? again hoffman comes outta nowhere)

Current yugioh gx watching experience (I’m well into season 3)
#i mean this in a good way#this show was silly for so long but then it’s like haha jokes on you were no longer primarily episodic we’ve got linear storylines now#hosestly it’s just making me go insane over jaden#like everything about him screamed GOOD GUY for most of the show#from his deck of literal heros to his actions he was just a genuinely nice guy#who got along great in life when things were good#thinking back I don’t think he had any major flaws#like he wasn’t good at school but that’s not really a flaw in a show like this#but being thrown into a serious situation like this#brought out the worst in him#his concern for Jesse overshadowing the friends right beside him#he promised to be more careful and not go out on his own and immediately broke those#and look where that got him#watching this guy who was seen as a great hero and greater friend#end up getting all his friends killed because of his own flaws#idk man#i know this is just the beginning i know it’s going to get worse#I think deeply flawed characters especially deeply flawed protagonists are much more interesting then good guys who want to save the day#so I expect jaden is going to go from a character i like a lot to a favorite#my goodness#it’s 1am and I have work tomorrow#is this even coherent#aaaaAAAAAAHHHHHH FICTIONAL CHARACTERS#AAHHHH#AJDKKAAJAK#FJSKAKAJAHHA#goodnight everypony

#i think she’s expecting like. two-three pages max. it’s going to be a lot longer than that.#this is what happens when you let someone who’s mentally ill have fun in an english class#listen man they’re my faves ok?#plus. my teacher hates lex w a burning passion and i am on a mission to change her mind#she’s a little girl dealing with the aftermath of her dad leaving her#watching as this new father figure suddenly shows up only to leave her too#and then dealing with learning to trust in grant#she’s also meant to be a representation of the ideals her grandpa holds in a way to illustrate how childish they are#buut the kids also kind of stand in a similar spot as the dinosaurs so they represent the uncontrollable chaos that hammond tried to control#idk it’s really interesting#hammond + lex rep control#grant + tim rep change#and the dinosaurs + the kids rep chaos#the other characters obviously fall into those categories too but i don’t wanna type it all out rn#there’s also a rlly interesting theme of new v old v now#but i’ve rambled long enough for now#tl;dr jurassic park is a good book#also don’t let vry opinionated guys w hyperfixations write an essay on said hyperfixation without knowing what ur getting into

Anyway uh. Yeah it... It was a tiny bit of a disappointment. It didn't do it for me at all. I feel like this movie is more of an art exhibit and i mean that as a fucking insult. Like sure the animation fucks my ears are ringing and my head aches horribly (that's on me for thinking i can be autistic and watch this on theaters) but like, the story man? It just so much (DEROGATORY).
It commits the sin a lot of spiderman movies make and that is that it bit more than it could chew. Not because they're bad at handling a complex story, but because they tried to juggle like 5 at once. And that never fucking works (my ear is still ringing and it hurts I'm in pain rn -_+ just wanted y'all to know)
Like it introduced SO FUCKING MUCH and it all was cool yeah! Just like electro was cool, and Harry, and Gwen, and captain Stacy. You know what in trying to fucking say? There's only so much you can do in 2 hours and you can just throw all you have all at once at the viewer because all you'll do is leave them disappointed wanting for more of that.
I feel like a baby. They show me this cool thing but nuh uh! Enough of that! Here's this new cool thing! But nuh uh! Enough of that- and so on. Like there were so many cool characters and ideas and concepts and shit but it could barely balance it all. YOU KNOW HOW BAD I WANTED TO SEE MORE OF THE SPOT?! HE BARELY WAS HERE!
It's like, you cannot fucking make a whole movie as the introduction to your next movie. That just sucks. You're setting yourself up for failure.
Like I'm just so upset bc it was full of amaizing things but it didn't fucking deliver in any of them!!!! And God don't get me started on the references. I think this was one of the worst ways to fill your movie with references. Like at least let me fucking process what I'm seeing if you are gonna waste so much time here, but also just... Don't make it so fucking blatant.
Like man i... This was a very experimental spiderman movie which i appreciate in a way but... It's not what I was expecting. To me, personally, it was disappointing. And also not designed at ALL to watch on cinemas. I think that last bit is just a fact.
